"Demons Like It Hot" [Demons Unleashed Series, Book 2] by Sidney Ayers

My Book Summary : Matthias recently decided that he was going to stop being a mercenary and start working on the good side for a change becoming a Paladin. His first mission however he is not happy about since it means protecting Serah, a feisty independent chef who he can't get his mind to stop thinking about ever since he met her a few months back. Nevertheless, he will not mess up this mission and he will do anything within his power to keep Serah safe, even if that means keeping her safe from himself.

Last year Serah and her best friend, Lucy, found out about a whole world they never knew and found out how Lucy is a part of that world. However, even though she recently has had a few run-ins with "things" from that world she still sticks to the saying that she is completely a human and she has no plans to be anything other than a great chef.

Now it's up to Matthias and Serah's friends to protect her and prove to her how wrong she is .... before it's too late.

My Book Review : 2.5 out of 5 stars. This novel is full of suspense, witty commentary, and brooding glances. So, all in all I thought it was an okay book to read. I liked the characters and the plot had a lot of potential to make this into one addicting series. However, it probably would have been easier if I read the first novel in this series, "Demons Prefer Blondes." Yet I didn't so I was lost throughout this book and I didn't really get into it until about a little over halfway through.

The reasons I liked and finished the novel even though I gave it a low score:
• the camaraderie of the characters
• the few twist in the plot that I didn't see coming
• the relationship between Matthias and Serah

So, I would only recommend this book to those of you who have finished and enjoyed reading "Demons Prefer Blondes" as I think this could be a fun series and I don't want you to miss out on what could be something good.

Book Teaser(s) :
Teaser #1
Kalli plunked the pendent from his hands and looked down at the pendent. She traced the carvings with a gentle fingertip. "I like simple things, Ambrose. Is that a crime?"
"Could have fooled me."
"A medieval pendent goes perfectly well with my Goth attire."
"Still, I'd like to know where you obtained it."
"If I said Sotheby's, would that help ease your tension?"
This wasn't the time for sarcasm, not when his mission only held on by a single thread. ~ within Chapter 28
