"Demons Like It Hot" [Demons Unleashed Series, Book 2] by Sidney Ayers
My Book Summary : Matthias recently decided that he was going to stop being a mercenary and start working on the good side for a change becoming a Paladin. His first mission however he is not happy about since it means protecting Serah, a feisty independent chef who he can't get his mind to stop thinking about ever since he met her a few months back. Nevertheless, he will not mess up this mission and he will do anything within his power to keep Serah safe, even if that means keeping her safe from himself.
Last year Serah and her best friend, Lucy, found out about a whole world they never knew and found out how Lucy is a part of that world. However, even though she recently has had a few run-ins with "things" from that world she still sticks to the saying that she is completely a human and she has no plans to be anything other than a great chef.
Now it's up to Matthias and Serah's friends to protect her and prove to her how wrong she is .... before it's too late.
My Book Review : 2.5 out of 5 stars. This novel is full of suspense, witty commentary, and brooding glances. So, all in all I thought it was an okay book to read. I liked the characters and the plot had a lot of potential to make this into one addicting series. However, it probably would have been easier if I read the first novel in this series, "Demons Prefer Blondes." Yet I didn't so I was lost throughout this book and I didn't really get into it until about a little over halfway through.
The reasons I liked and finished the novel even though I gave it a low score:
• the camaraderie of the characters
• the few twist in the plot that I didn't see coming
• the relationship between Matthias and Serah
So, I would only recommend this book to those of you who have finished and enjoyed reading "Demons Prefer Blondes" as I think this could be a fun series and I don't want you to miss out on what could be something good.

Kalli plunked the pendent from his hands and looked down at the pendent. She traced the carvings with a gentle fingertip. "I like simple things, Ambrose. Is that a crime?"
"Could have fooled me."
"A medieval pendent goes perfectly well with my Goth attire."
"Still, I'd like to know where you obtained it."
"If I said Sotheby's, would that help ease your tension?"
This wasn't the time for sarcasm, not when his mission only held on by a single thread. ~ within Chapter 28

"Getting Over Garrett Delaney" by Abby McDonald Expected Publication Released Date: January 24, 2012
Author's Book Description:
Can a twelve-step program help Sadie kick her unrequited crush for good? Abby McDonald serves up her trademark wit and wisdom in a hilarious new novel.
Seventeen-year-old Sadie is in love: epic, heartfelt, and utterly one-sided. The object of her obsession — ahem, affection — is her best friend, Garrett Delaney, who has been oblivious to Sadie’s feelings ever since he sauntered into her life and wowed her with his passion for Proust (not to mention his deep blue eyes).
For two long, painful years, Sadie has been Garrett’s constant companion, sharing his taste in everything from tragic Russian literature to art films to ’80s indie rock — all to no avail. But when Garrett leaves for a summer literary retreat, Sadie is sure that the absence will make his heart grow fonder — until he calls to say he’s fallen in love. With some other girl! A heartbroken Sadie realizes that she’s finally had enough. It’s time for a total Garrett detox!
Aided by a barista job, an eclectic crew of new friends (including the hunky chef, Josh), and a customized self-help guide, Sadie embarks on a summer of personal reinvention full of laughter, mortifying meltdowns, and a double shot of love.

"Lord of the Abyss" [Royal House of Shadows Series, Book 4] by Nalini Singh
My Book Summary : Micah's life changed forever 20 years ago when he got thrown to the Abyss where he now lives and rules. However, he has no recollection of his past before the Abyss. So, the only woman who knows how to get him to remember and who is also the daughter of his enemy, Liliana, makes her way the the Abyss beaten-up, bruised, but plans to inform Micah of his past so he can kill her father and make Elden (Micah's home) a great place to live.
Her task will be harder then she first suspected when she meets the man/Lord Micah has become and realizes that the curse her father put on him might be harder to brake then she first thought. One thing that does help her get through to him is the friendship forms between them over the time she's there. However, will the friendship be enough once Micah remembers everything her father has done, and will they be able to get back to Elden before time runs out??
My Book Review : 5 out of 5 stars!!! This is the BEST book in the series!! Micah and Liliana are stubborn, kindhearted, loyal, and a wonderful couple, which makes this book a very intriguing read!! I love the authors take on this book as it's basically Beauty and The Beast with a different background, of course, but with a unique twist where The Beast is actually the beautiful one and The Beauty is not that pretty at all (at least to everyone but The Beast).
If you have liked the other books in this series then you definitely won't be disappointed by this book!! I also recommend this series to anyone who likes reading knew takes on fairytale or Disney novels!!
My Previous Review(s) for this Series :Book 1 | Book 3
"My Lord." Oh, she wanted to--- "My Lord."
"You don't mean it."
Smiling because it wasn't her imagination---he was teasing her---she finished off the bread, then dropped into a ludicrously ornate curtsy. "Oh, my lord," she simpered, fluttering her lashes. "What would you have of this poor wee maiden?"
A rusty sound, harsh and rough. Startled she looked up---and realized the Guardian of the Abyss was laughing. ~ within Chapter 6
He'd never felt such a rage of emotion. "Who did this?"
She flinched at the ice of his tone. "No one."
"You will tell me." And then he would drag the monster into the Abyss.
Her spine went rigid. "He is no one to me. Do you understand? No one."
He heard her anger, the pulsating ribbon of it threaded through with pain. "You won't speak his name."
"No." A hesitation. "Not until I need to." ~ within Chapter 13

"Enchanted By Blood" [Sweetblood Series, Novella 2] by Laurie London
Pages: 115
My Story Summary : Trace takes his role to the community (the Governing Council of vampires) that he's a part of very seriously, especially after promising his father that he would do whatever it takes to make sure his family's name would be upheld. However, it's really hard to follow the rules of the community when that means giving up the one woman that makes him feel complete, Charlotte. A year ago, though, he did give up Charlotte and erased all of her memories of their relationship so he could pursue his necessary place on the Council and so she wouldn't get caught up in his community and possibly hurt. After he runs into her again and saves her from some evil vampires, he's not sure if he wants to or can get her out of his life anymore. However, is she more important than promises that he's already made to his family?
My Story Review : 3 out of 5 stars, it's a charming story about two people who are undeniably drawn together but because of old laws should ultimately stay apart. I liked the way the story flowed and was intrigued by the characters. However, my favorite character in the story was Victoria (Trace's grandmother)!!
Story Teaser :
"It really is lovely to see you..." Her voice trailed off and she hesitated. Trace held his breath. She wasn't about to say again, was she? "No wonder Trace is so enamored," she continued, spinning a gnarled finger in the air. "Turn around, dear. Let me look at you."
"This isn't a fashion runway," he growled, his mood darkening. "Miss Grant is here to do the decorating, not to be a decoration herself. That is, if she'll even take the job." ~ within Chapter 5

"Monsters Don't Do Christmas" [A Part of the Beautiful Creatures World] by Michele Hauf
Pages: 81
My Story Summary : Last year (during the Christmas holiday) Daniel's life completely changed when he got turned into a vampire and now, even though he's still learning to deal with the changes to himself, he is thrust into the world of the supernatural dealing with feuds he wants nothing to do with. While in the middle of a fight with a werewolf (because of those feuds) is where Daniel meets Olivia, who claims to be a monster too (at least in her mind). Olivia and Daniel are really attracted to each other and soon want nothing more than to be together, but would it really work out and be the best thing for them to be together? They'll soon find out.
My Story Review : 2.5 out of 5 stars ... it was a cute story with sweet characters but it didn't intrigue me as much as it could have. Which is really to bad since I was really hoping to like this one more then I did. =0/
Story Teaser :
"I'm harshing your Christmas spirit," he said. "Vampire Scrooge doesn't play into your dreams of sugarplums and stockings hung by the chimney with care."
She had to smile at his attempt at lightening the mood. "Come here." She held out her arms. "You need a hug." ~ within Chapter 3

My Story Summary : Angelina has been trying to save Damien (and his soul) from himself, an evil vampire named Captain Pedro Ramierz, and the Devil two previous times but each time she either gets in the way or is part of the problem. This time though she is determined to save him. However, when others get in the way and change her plans drastically, what will she do to follow fulfill her goal?
My Story Review : 2.5 out of 5 stars. This story definitely takes a different spin on the Christmas Carol story, by doing so I find this story very clever. I do wish that I could have found this story more interesting then I did, but I didn't. I had to push myself to read it so I could find out how it ended.
From the present, his voice quavered with realization. "I didn't know. Didn't see what he was," he explained to his lover as she stood beside him, her hand on his shoulder, trying to offer comfort. Although she seemed to know his inner heart better than he did. Or at least, she knew there was more that he was unwilling to admit.
"Would it have mattered back then? Would you have refrained from challenging him had you known he was a demon?" she countered. ~ within Chapter 4

My Story Summary : Eagan is a vampire who's an undercover cop and recently got a case of teenagers who have gone missing. The area he's been staking out is centered around a little diner that Della owns. They meet because of Eagan's case but immediately they find that they can't get enough of each other. However, Eagan is scared of letting his secret come out to Della, thinking that she'd have a bad reaction about it, and tries his hardest not to get too close. Nevertheless, staying away might be the hardest risk to take when Della tries to help out one of her employees and finds herself in the middle of Eagan's case. Will he be able to save her before it's too late?
My Story Review : 3.5 out of 5 stars!!! This was a fun and entertaining story, centered around the mystery of what is going on within Eagan's case, Della's motley crew of friends/diners, and the steamy relationship that evolves between Della & Eagan!! I'd recommend this story to those who like a hot paranormal mystery romance book!! =0)
Story Teaser :
"Ahem!"
Someone nearby cleared her throat and then did it again. No doubt Lupe. Eagan broke off the kiss long enough to glare at the woman before picking up right where he'd left off. But then he gentled the kiss, slowly banking the fire, leaving only a few softly glowing embers when he stepped back at last.
"I guess we showed them," Eagan said for the benefit of their audience. ~ within Chapter 5

My Book Review : For the full book I give it 2.88 out of 5 stars. Too bad .. I hoped to like this book but I just couldn't get into it. There were some good parts, but just not good enough for me.
I hope you'll enjoy it more so than I did. =0)

Since today is Thanksgiving Day I decided to make a list of my top 5 books that I've read so far and that I'm Thankful for this year!! So, here you go:
"Hard Bitten" [Chicagoland Vampires Series, Book 4] by Chloe Neill: 5 out of 5 stars!!! ::::WARNING----THIS BOOK HAD ME IN TEARS BY THE END OF IT:::: I loved Merit as always! Her relationship with Ethan takes some major turns ... some I loved and some I royally hated especially since I really want them to end up together in the end. And WOW .... the ending has a twist I NEVER expected! [Read more of Jess' Review for this book HERE]
"Beautiful Disaster" by Jamie McGuire: 5 out of 5 stars!!!! THIS WAS A WONDERFUL NOVEL!! The author put together a story full of romance, friendship, and the links some would go to just so they could be a part of the person they love’s life. Abby is an intriguing character who had a great back-story, and the author took that story into turns that I never expected. But I absolutely LOVED the friendship and respect that Travis and Abby shared for each other, no matter what happened between them, they were there for each other no matter what. [Read more of Jess' Review for this book HERE]
"The Iron Knight" [The Iron Fey Series, Book 4] by Julie Kagawa: 5 out of 5 stars!! "The Iron Knight" wraps up this wonderfully awesome series, and I was captivated and entertained so much in this story that I didn't want to put it down!! This book kept me jumping from the beginning from all of the twists that the author throws in it!! I was SOOO surprised with how it gives you multiple endings, in a way, that leave you reeling because your not sure if that's definitely going to happen or not. [Read more of Jess' Review for this book HERE]
"Until There Was You" by Kristan Higgins: 5 out of 5 stars!!!!!! Oh My Goodness!!!! This is a wonderful, funny, and sweet novel that I could not get enough of!!! It is by far the best novel I have read of Kristan's, just topping out my old favorite of hers "Too Good To Be True!"
This is the FIRST novel of Kristan's where you get to read from both points-of-view of the main characters, Posey & Liam, and I have got to say I was SOOO Happy about that!! As I love to be able to see what the guy thinks! [Read more of Jess' Review for this book HERE]
"Raised By Wolves" [Raised by Wolves Series, Book 1] by Jennifer Lynn Barnes: 5 out of 5 stars!! I have to agree, completely, with Melissa Marr when she said, "Quite simply, the most compelling YA werewolf book out there." And Ms. Marr is soo right! This novel/series takes on a new meaning in and of itself. Even though I've only read the first novel, thus far, but it was so heart-warming, intriguing, and mysterious that I didn't want to put it down even when I had too!
