"Charming The Duke" by Holly Bush

Author's Book Description : 1849 . . . Matilda Sheldon, the middle daughter of the sixth Earl of Bisset, has never been interested in the fashionable society events that so preoccupy her parents and siblings. Her loving, albeit, daft family cannot understand why. But Matilda has little use for silly rules and dramas. She would rather occupy her time with a worthwhile cause such as opening The Sheldon Home for Orphans, much to the chagrin of her mother and grandmother. They are quite certain a venture of this nature will discourage suitors. Matilda is quite certain that if suitors are discouraged it is because she is clever, plain, a bit clumsy, and inevitably compared to her beautiful sisters.

The Duke of Thornsby is in tight spot. After receiving the title on the death of his father, he discovers the inheritance is to be gifted elsewhere if he does not marry before his thirtieth birthday. Unfortunately, our man-about-town is embroiled in a scandal, not of his own making, and the marriage mamas won’t let any eligible misses anywhere near him. What’s a Duke to do? Get invited to a house party hosted by the notoriously absent-minded Earl of Bisset, who just happens to be Papa to some young ladies of marriageable age!

Thornsby finds himself fascinated, not with the two Sheldon debutantes actively seeking a husband, but rather with the ‘brown wren’ he first mistakes for a servant. Matilda is counting the hours until the house party ends when the necessity of conversing with the guests will be over, and ridiculously handsome men go far away. Can a worldly Duke convince a sensible girl to accept his court? Find out in "Charming The Duke."

My Book Review : 3 out of 5 stars. Matilda and Frederick (Thornsby/Freddy) will charm you in this quaint historical romance! They (along with their families) bring a humorous and sweet take to what it means to live in England during 1849. Especially, as to what it is like to be a noble person who doesn't really fit into society's standards.

Overall, this is a very cute novel. In addition, even though I thought the middle to ending could have been laid out a bit better, I did enjoy that the "epilogue" summed up the big issues that Matilda had and displayed how well their relationship came together!

I recommend this novel to those who like sweet and funny historical romances!

Book Teaser(s) :
Ethel Sheldon suddenly laughed uproariously. She sobered and turned to her daughter-in-law. “However much it pains me to admit it, Frances, I believe you may be right. The Duke of Thornsby may be infinitely matched to Matilda.”
“Ethel, how could you?” Matilda shouted. “And mother to suggest marriage! I’ve never been so embarrassed in all of my life.”
“But Matilda, if you care so little for the Duke why are you embarrassed? You care naught for his opinion,” Juliet asked.
“There may be hope for you yet, Juliet,” Ethel replied. ~ within Chapter 7

Holly has been writing all of her life and is a voracious reader of a wide variety of fiction and non-fiction, particularly political and historical works. She has written four romance novels, all set in the U.S. West in the mid 1800’s. She frequently attends writing conferences, and has always been a member of a writer’s group.

Holly is a gardener, a news junkie, and former vice-president of her local library board and loves to spend time near the ocean. She is the proud mother of two daughters and the wife of a man more than a few years her junior.

Book Excerpt :

Our heroine Matilda meets the Duke of Thornsby for the first time . . .

Matilda groaned inwardly. And so began a long three days of this business. Nearly two hours later all the guests were situated in the correct room. A stand-up buffet was to be served at eight o’clock, giving Matilda three hours alone. Mother was fussing with Cook over some calamity. Father had taken a few old compatriots to the stables, and her sisters were napping. Matilda was heading towards the stairs when the footman opened the door once more.

A tall, dark haired man entered with a thin woman on his arm. A blond man came behind them and whistled as his gaze cleared the three-story ceiling of the entranceway. Damnation. These were the guests Mother had been fussing about, wondering what had held them up. No Mother. No Father. No Franklin and the peach. No Juliet or Alexandra. Not even Fitz about. Matilda stepped forward and curtsied.

“Good day, Sirs and Madam.”

The dark-haired man swept a look up and down the entranceway, even down to the marble floors before handing his hat and cane to Matilda.

“Tell your Mistress the Duke of Thornsby has arrived.”

“Right away, sir,” Matilda said.

The thin woman rushed forward. “How silly my brother can be,” she said and stole a glance over her shoulder at the dark haired man. “Aren’t you the middle daughter of the Earl?”

The blond man laughed uproariously. Matilda quelled him with a stare. “Matilda Sheldon. Welcome to Maplewood.”

“I am Lady Athena. I believe we’ve met quite some time ago. This is Mr. Andrew Smithly. And this,” she said as she grabbed the dark haired man’s arm, “is my brother, the Duke of Thornsby.”

Thornsby bowed over her hand. “Terribly sorry, my dear. I just, well . . . my fault. My apologies. Terrible mistake. Terrible.”

Matilda leaned forward. She’d had her daily allowance of stupidity as she greeted guests all afternoon. There really was only so much she could take and remain stoic. “How do you characterize this auspicious start? Would you term it,” Matilda lifted her shoulders in a shrug, “terrible, by chance?”

The Duke pulled at his waistcoat. “I did apologize, Miss Sheldon. Was a harmless mistake on my part. I heard your family described in one fashion, and you standing there just didn’t put me in mind that you were part of the Sheldon clan.”

The sister groaned.

“And how, sir, did you hear my family described?” Matilda asked.

“Got you in a neat box, old boy,” the other man said.

“Everyone said they were blond and beau . . .”

Matilda’s brows rose. She was aware of the comparisons made between her and her sisters and mother. Her sister-in-law to be as well. Just not in the entrance to her home by a man she’d never met. She bellowed over her shoulder to the butler.

“James. Fetch Mother. The Duke of Thorny has arrived.” Matilda schooled her features. “Lady Athena, Mr. Smithly, enjoy your stay.”

Idolizing In: Unmasking Juliet by Teri Wilson

- This is an ARC book - Available Formats through Amazon.com: Paperback - Pages: 368; Kindle Edition - File Size: 483 KB | Expected Release Date: May 27, 2014 | Publisher: Harlequin : HQN Books | Obtained: NetGalley

"Unmasking Juliet" by Teri Wilson

Author's Book Description : Ever since she was a little girl learning to make decadent truffles in her family's chocolate shop, Juliet Arabella has been aware of the bitter feud between the Arabellas and the Mezzanottes. With their rival chocolate boutiques on the same street in Napa Valley, these families never mix. Until one night, when Juliet anonymously attends the annual masquerade ball. In a moonlit vineyard, she finds herself falling for a gorgeous stranger, a man who reminds her what passion is like outside of the kitchen. But her bliss is short-lived when she discovers her masked prince is actually Leo Mezzanotte, newly returned from Paris and the heir to her archenemy's confection dynasty.

With her mind in a whirl, Juliet leaves for Italy to represent the Arabellas in a prestigious chocolate competition. The prize money will help her family's struggling business, and Juliet figures it's a perfect opportunity to forget Leo…only to find him already there and gunning for victory. As they compete head-to-head, Leo and Juliet's fervent attraction boils over. But Juliet's not sure whether to trust her adversary, or give up on the sweetest love she's ever tasted...

My Book Review : 5 out of 5 stars! Based off of a classic play this novel has turned into a classic for me! However, instead of being a tragedy like its predecessor it's an entertaining romantic contemporary comedy that allows you to root for Leo & Juliet while throwing you into the middle of a generational chocolate war. Together they overcome their own fears along with the rulings of their families to embrace the future they are yearning for.

I highly recommend this novel to anyone who's fans of Ms. Wilson, who are fans of Romeo & Juliet, and/or who like contemporary romances!!

Author's Novel Extras : Pinterest: UNMASKING JULIET by Teri Wilson (Harlequin HQN, June 2014)

Book Teaser(s) :
Leo narrowed his gaze at Cocoa. "Is it my imagination, or does your dog bark every time she hears my last name?"
Juliet's cheeks flushed a stirring shade of pink. "Maybe."
Leo refused to believe it. There were already more than enough opinions about this heated flirtation he and Juliet had going on without adding her dog's into the mix.
He looked at Cocoa again. She'd slumped to her belly, and was resting calmly with her head on her shaggy, outstretched legs at Juliet's feet.
The only way to know for certain was to put his theory to the test. "Mezzanotte."
Cocoa's head popped up. Woof.
Leo slid his gaze to Juliet. Her flush intensified.
"Arabella," he said, doing his best to ignore the musical way the word rolled off his tongue.
Cocoa simply yawned.
"Butter."
Nothing. No reaction at all.
"Cream."
Still more silence.
"Mezzanotte."
Woof.
Leo shook his head. "Well, I'll be damned." ~ within Chapter 6
Quicker than she would have imagined, he was level with her balcony. His lips curved into a cocky smirk. "Hello there, Juliet."
God, he wasn't even out of breath. If she'd attempted such a feat, she no doubt would have ended up with a nice collection of broken bones. Of course, he wasn't actually on the balcony yet. He was still hanging on to the trellis.
"What now, Spider-Man?" she asked dryly. ~ within Chapter 20

Disappointmentville: Wolf Rock Shifters Series, Book 2

Format: Kindle Edition | File Size: 614 KB | Release Date: April 13, 2014 | Publisher: Self-Published | Obtained: Amazon.com

"Bearing Up In Wolf Rock" [Wolf Rock Shifters Series, Book 2] by Carina Wilder

Author's Book Description : "I wouldn't kick him out of bed for eating salmon."

Kyla Greene is frustrated after a popular reality show put her pack--and all shifters--on the map. Not only are the residents of Wolf Rock getting more attention than they ever wanted; it's not the nice kind.

Enter Maddox, a half-Maori bear of a man. The quiet, extraordinarily beautiful, oddly mysterious stranger gets Kyla's juices flowing and causes a stir of his own in town.

Suddenly, things are looking up. And then down. And then up again, while disturbing incidents tear at the fabric of the shifters and of the community itself.

This 40,000+ word novel is intended for readers 18 years and over due to mature content of a sexual nature. It's the second in the Wolf Rock Shifters series after "Winning the Alpha," though it reads as a stand-alone novel.

My Book Review : 2 out of 5 stars. This is the first novel of this series that I've read, and while I could follow the plot fine it was just to damn slow to be enjoyable. I mean I made an effort to finish this novel in hopes that I'd like the characters and the plot better. Yet even though I tried, I found it really hard to appreciate Maddox as the hero, he was to softhearted and doesn't act like the type of strong/possessive alpha male that I'm used reading/enjoying.

Overall, I believe this series has potential which is why I rated it as I did even though I am not a fan of it.

I only recommend it to those who are fans of Ms. Wilder and/or like this series.

Book Teaser(s) :
She sat down hard, her bare skin on the cold stone at the cave’s entrance, and pondered her next move. Should she hunt on her own or inform the pack? They’d have more success in a group, and frankly, she was likely to castrate the bear with her teeth if she came upon him on her own. It would be best to search with the pack mates who were likely to calm her. Right, that was it.
Her course of action clear, Kyla pulled off the shirt, dropped it on the ground and began to run, shifting in mid-stride. ~ within Chapter 7

Feasted On: Tweethearts by Nicole Haddow

- This is an ARC book - Available Formats through Amazon.com: Kindle Edition - File Size: 1299 KB | Expected Release Date: February 14, 2014 | Publisher: Penguin Books Australia: Destiny Romance | Obtained: NetGalley

"Tweethearts" by Nicole Haddow

Author's Book Description : Jemima Starler loathes her job writing for the pregnancy magazine Placenta Monthly. To break the monotony, she writes scandalous tweets about the magazine industry as her secret online identity, Maghag. Thankfully, she also has her cute and talented housemate, Samson, to keep life interesting.

When her editor stoops to a new ethical low, Jemima's reputation is suddenly on the line. She must find a way to carve out a new career, but it's hard to focus when Samson's mixed signals are driving her crazy. And when her handsome housemate is plucked from obscurity to star on a new reality TV show, everything changes. It's time for Jemima to trust her feelings instead of believing what she sees online, but has she missed her chance?

My Book Review : 4 out of 5 stars -- two roommates suddenly realize their feelings for one another under extremely bad circumstances. Will they find a way to officially prove to each other how they feel or will they find they are better off apart?

This entertaining novel throws you into the world of pregnancy magazines and reality television while showing you the power of social media, all centered around Jemima (Jem) and Samsom's lives. At first glance, it seems that Jem and Samson are opposites. Yet as the novel progresses, you can tell that they even each other out in ways neither would have thought until they are forced to stay apart. This novel puts fun twists throughout to elevate the pressure that is put on Samson and Jem once they jump into the world of reality television. In addition, it was fun reading Jem's remarks as @MagHag while she was working at Placenta Monthly. =0)

Along with following Samson and Jem's lives, you also follow Evie's, a recently pregnant ex-girlfriend of an AFL footballer turned reality show host, who turns into one of Jem's good friends as the novel progresses. I really enjoyed her sweet romance with Connor.

Overall, I really liked the flow of this novel and how everything turned out. It gives you a great (sort of) behind-the-scenes look while keeping with the spirit of a contemporary romance. The only thing I wish was that it had an epilogue to show us where Samson and Jem are now if this is going to be the only book they'll have, if not then I can't wait to see where their lives will take them next!

I recommend this novel to anyone who enjoys humorous contemporary romances!

My headstone shall read: 'She died choking on a tasty chunk of white bread. It was abundantly preferable to talking about property.' ~ within Chapter 7
Later, Odette strode back in and shoved Jemima's latte at her. She plonked herself on the couch and waited for the action to happen.
'This is going to take a while. You can go back to the office if it gets too boring,' Jemima suggested.
'Are you kidding? I want to see everything,' Odette argued.
Evie stared ahead in the mirror but couldn't stifle a grin.
Jemima knew this wasn't the time or place to have a debate with Odette, so instead she whipped out her phone and thoughtlessly vented her frustration on Twitter:
If you like a side of attitude with your morning coffee, get a personal assistant. ~ within Chapter 9
Naturally, Owen and Jemima were hiding out in the van taking bets on exactly when Grant might blow his top again.
'We should do a Facebook poll,' Owen suggested. 'When will our executive produce's head explode? Three p.m., six p.m. or ten p.m.? You decide!'
'I reckon six p.m.' Jemima laughed as she scrolled through the contestant Twitter accounts to see what they'd been up to lately. ~ within Chapter 32

Made the Grade: Stolen Kiss From a Prince by Teresa Carpenter

"Stolen Kiss From a Prince" by Teresa Carpenter

But it's hard to ignore their instant chemistry—especially after one stolen kiss! Could her royal assignment be about to transform into the most magical of fairy tales?

My Book Review : 3.5 out of 5 stars. This sweet romance brings together two people who are at the low points of their lives who turn to each other when it looks like no one else would understand/help them. In doing so it turns both of their worlds upside down. Together Julian & Katrina are a intriguing pair that you can't help but root for .... even through Julian's blunders.

My only wish was that the ending was a bit better and had an epilogue.

Overall, I recommend the novel to those who like soft sweet heartwarming contemporary romances!

Feasted On: Dante’s Circle Series, Book 4

Format: Kindle Edition | File Size: 1901 KB | Release Date: April 12, 2014 | Publisher: Fated Desires Publishing | Obtained: Amazon.com

"Tangled Innocence" [Dante’s Circle Series, Book 4] by Carrie Ann Ryan

Author's Book Description : Humans aren’t as alone as they choose to believe. Every human possesses a trait of supernatural that lays dormant within their genetic make-up. Centuries of diluting and breeding have allowed humans to think they are alone and untouched by magic. But what happens when something changes?

As one of the seven lightning struck women, Nadie Morgan has known for a while now that her fate would be forever changed…and revolve around a certain dragon. From the first time Dante Bell saw Nadie, he knew she was the one for him. There’s just one problem–there’s another in his life he’s waiting on as well.

When Jace Goodwin, a bear shifter and Mediator, finally comes back to the human realm after years away under circumstances out of his control, his first stop is to Dante’s Circle where he not only finds his dragon, but the woman they both have been waiting for.

Once secrets are told and the sparks fly, Nadie’s new life becomes something she never thought possible. However there’s another realm at play and Jace and Nadie’s dragon will have to fight harder than he’s ever fought before to keep the life he’s waited eons for.

Warning: Contains one not-so-innocent human, a bear known for his bear-hugs, a tattooed and pierced dragon with a fiery temper, and a connection so explosive, you’ll be fanning yourself from page one.

My Book Review : 4.5 out of 5 stars! Hit the ground running in this entertaining, thrilling, and heart-wrenching novel! In addition, to being a great addition to it's series this novel was one that I could not get enough of and did want to have end. Nevertheless, the series must continue so I guess that's okay. =0)

This trio, Nadie with her men, is a great match up from the very beginning. I especially liked how each of them handled each new "twist" that was thrown their way, as it seemed that even when one started to freak out the others were able to set them straight quickly, usually romantically, and move on to the next thing that came at them. It all made the flow of this novel work really well, which is one of the reasons I could not get enough of it!!

About the Main Characters:
• Nadie: Not as innocent as she appears to be. A virgin who doesn't want to be one anymore. Sick of Dante ignoring her. Ready to throw in the towel on the whole "mate thing" until Jace comes into her life. Will do anything and everything to protect her mates.

• Dante: One fierce dragon. Doesn't like conformity. Hates his family. Very old. Loves his bar, his mates, Jace's family, and his friends.

• Jace: A grizzly bear shifter who acts like a "teddy bear" when it comes to Nadie. A Mediator -- someone who goes to different realms to help solve any complications. Has known Dante for the past 80 years and has been actively searching for their third pairing (Nadie) throughout those years. Has a great family.

Together they prove just how inseparable they actually are and what they are willing to do to be sure they can stay together forever!

The only reason I didn't give this the full 5 stars that I wanted to, is because of the person who died. I know we only just met him (or at least I did since the only other book I've read in this series was book 2 and he wasn't in that one) yet as soon as we did I was hoping he'd be a mate with one of the other girls in the group. In the short time, you read about him in this novel you cannot help but like him, which is why I cried when he was killed. =0(

Overall, I highly recommend this novel and series to anyone who is a fan of Ms. Ryan and/or those who enjoy paranormal romances!

She’d gone to sleep soon after Jace had left the night before, dreaming of dragons and bears and frolicking down a yellow brick road. Apparently her subconscious was a little illogical. ~ within Chapter 4
That was another thing she and her dragon would have to discuss.
He couldn’t keep treating her like fragile glass when it came to big decisions. Leaving her asleep while he went off to a group of paranormals that could hurt him classified as one of those things that he needed to at least mention to her.
Not just tell his messenger.
Apparently she was still a little peeved at that.
“Nadie, honey, I don’t know.” She winced at his honesty but didn’t interrupt him. “I have no idea what the Conclave wanted with him, and, fuck, I was so scared when Dante told me where he was going. I’m one huge-ass grizzly, and I wanted to cower under the table and hide the two of you away forever.”
She blinked at him. He needed to work on his whole don’t-freak-out-Nadie thing. ~ within Chapter 8
When had his life turned into a soap opera?
He used to be the nomadic hermit dragon with friends from other realms and no worries other than keeping others at bay. Now he had a potential war, two mates who he loved and didn’t want to leave, and now...this.
Dragon shit.
“Ready?” Jace asked from his side, his hand resting on the small of Dante’s back.
Dante relaxed for a moment, leaning into the other man. He closed his eyes, needing to regroup before they left. It wouldn’t do anyone any good for him to be a stressed-out basket case. He’d either end up throwing his mates in his hoard and hiding them from the outside or start growling and spitting fire at random dragons that dared enter his line of sight. ~ within Chapter 14

About the Author :

Noelle handwrote her first romance novel in a spiral-bound notebook when she was twelve, and she hasn’t stopped writing since. She has lived in eight different states and currently resides in Virginia, where she teaches English, reads any book she can get her hands on, and offers tribute to a very spoiled cocker spaniel.

She loves travel, art, history, and ice cream. After spending far too many years of her life in graduate school, she has decided to reorient her priorities and focus on writing contemporary romances.

Book Excerpt :

Now, however, Alice was regretting her random impulse to put on a skirt that morning, since she was on her knees in front of the bookshelves, putting the last of the commentaries back in place.

At least no one was around to see her undignified position, with her skirt pushed up to her thighs to give herself freedom to move.

“Daniel,” a voice came from outside the office. “Daniel!”

She recognized the voice, but he was in the office before she could move or pull down her skirt. She froze as she looked over her shoulder, befuddled by Micah’s sudden appearance.

He seemed equally startled to discover her on the floor, after his eyes scanned the room for his absent brother. “Oh,” he said, standing in the doorway.

It took her a minute to pull herself together, but when she did she managed to smile. “He went to the hospital to see Mrs. Cooper.”

“Oh.” Micah was such a self-assured man that it was strange to see him so stumped.

Then there was a different sound in the office. It took Alice a few seconds to even identify it. It was so unexpected that she was sure it wasn’t right.

It sounded like a baby whimpering.

Finally, her eyes drifted down to something Micah was holding. A baby carrier. A baby carrier.

“Is that a baby?” she asked, her voice hoarse with surprise.

He looked down at the carrier as if he’d forgotten he held it. “Yeah.”

She scrambled to her feet, rather clumsily, and hurried over to look at the baby as he set the carrier on Daniel’s desk, right on top of the printed copy of sermon notes for Sunday.

She peered into the carrier and saw the baby—maybe four or five months old—wearing a pink sleeper. Her eyes were blue and grumpy, and her whimpers were quickly turning louder.

Instinctively, Alice reached out for the girl and pulled her up to rest against her shoulder, patting her back in a comforting manner.

Alice had always liked kids. She’d never had baby-fever, but she certainly knew what to do when one was starting to cry.

“What are you doing with her?” she asked Micah, who’d been staring at the baby with that same glazed look of bewilderment.

“I...I don’t know.”

“Well, whose is she?” Surely this baby hadn’t dropped from the sky into the back of Micah’s truck.

His features twisted slightly—maybe anxiety, maybe disbelief. “That’s the thing. I think...I think she’s mine.”

Made the Grade: Wilde Creek Series, Book 2

Format: Kindle Edition | File Size: 369 KB | Release Date: April 10, 2014 | Publisher: Self-Published | Obtained: Amazon.com

"The Alpha’s Heart" [Wilde Creek Series, Book 2] by R. E. Butler

Author's Book Description : Alpha wolf Acksel wakes up one morning in the bed of a woman he’s had a crush on since high school. Brynn Mara was the one human who had been friendly to him in school and now, ten years later, she is snuggled up at his side, smelling like passion and sweet dreams. Even though Acksel has declared that his pack members can mate with humans from now on, he knows that any woman he takes as his mate will have a target on her back. Especially if she’s a fragile human. Deciding it’s better to cut things off than string her along when there is no hope for a relationship, he leaves without a word and ignores her.

But it doesn’t matter if Acksel acknowledges her or not, because their one night of passion has left a permanent reminder of what happens when one drunk wolf forgets protection. Angry, banished wolves from his pack discover Brynn’s secret and decide to use her against Acksel. His worst fears have come true and the only woman that ever touched his heart is now suffering because of his mistake. Can he save her in time? This book contains one pissed-off, emotionally damaged alpha, the human woman who can tame him, and a sweet little surprise that no one expected.

My Book Review : 3.5 out of 5 stars!! This unique paranormal romance brings together two mates who have wanted to be in each other's lives since grade school but because of pack politics, they stayed apart ... until now.

I really enjoyed the setup of this series, especially the world that it's set in and how everyone is aware of shifters but shifters are still finding out how to change their rules/laws for the better too. Plus, I loved the characters (main & secondary)!

Together Acksel and Brynn even each other out. She brings out his sweetness, where he brings out her fierceness. In the end, they turn into better people because of everything they go through. As well as, prove to themselves (along with Acksel's pack) that they're worth all of the trouble that comes along with being together.

I can't wait to see where this series will go next, especially in book 3 "The Protector’s Heart!"

I recommend this novel and series to anyone who is a fan of Ms. Butler and/or those who like paranormal romances!

Book Teaser(s) :
With a contented growl, Acksel rolled onto his back and took her with him, pressing her securely into his side.  She peered up at him.  His eyes were closed but he looked happier than he had when he’d stumbled drunkenly into her home just hours earlier.
Giggling internally, she thought, I sexed him happy. ~ within Chapter 3
Dropping a swift kiss to her forehead, he left the room, leaving the door cracked.
“You said I could have clothes,” she said loudly as he walked down the hallway.
“I didn’t say when,” he answered.
“Asshole,” she growled and he chuckled as he went into the kitchen to cook for his mate. ~ within Chapter 12
“What makes you think that she’s my mate?”
“Well, your eyes are flashing like Acksel’s do when he talks about us being mates.  And this is going to sound weird but you smell different now.  Spicier.”  She groaned.  “Ick.  I can’t believe I just said that.”
He blushed sharply.  She was smelling his arousal.  Well, he wasn’t going to clue her in to what the scent was.  Clearly the baby was having an effect on her, giving her some of their wolf tendencies. ~ within Chapter 18

About the Author :

A.R. was born and raised in Bronx, NY and is the oldest daughter of two girls. She holds an Associate’s Degree in Computer Science and Information Technology, which was only briefly used. She’s a mother of two entertaining teen boys (as well as a lovely fawn Chihuahua, whom she considers her furry daughter.) She’s also a wife to a delightfully handsome and amazingly funny man-beast. She loves anything dragon and fantasy related. In her free time she enjoys exercising, writing, listening to music, hiking, cooking, dancing and reading. She also loves a great adventure in and out of a book! She writes to free her mind of its constant wondering and clutter. She thrives on the fact she can share some of it with readers that have the same passion for a great story.

She also loves to hear from her reader’s and chat away, so feel free to reach out to her any time.

Book Excerpt :

She takes a deep breath and closes her eyes. “That smells lovely Dezso. Thank you for this. Thank you for everything.” She moves closer to me, licking her lips and looking at me in the most sensual way.

I feel the blood rush straight to my cock and a tingle go from my spine to my balls just from that small action. “Iria?” I feel trapped by her gaze. I cannot move.

She draws nearer.

So close, I can feel her warm breath on my neck.

She stretches up on her toes and presses her body against mine. Her eyes briefly widen as she notices my erection. Then, she lets out a soft moan and places both of her hands against my face, pulling me closer for a kiss.

Our tongues duel as if they are in a battle for power. I follow through, giving as good as she gives and throw in a suckling of her tongue for good measure.

My Book Review : 3.5 out of 5 stars! This is a unique mystical novel about good vs. evil, light vs. darkness, and those who hope to restore/keep the balance. At the forefront in the fight, you have Dezso and Iria ....

Dezso is a magical human who fights on the light side yet has been dealing with his own personal struggle and darkness for as long as he can remember. When he meets Iria he knows he wants to become a better man then he already is, for her he'll try anything. Together they make a great pair and their love is very sweet. Especially since Iria is, for all intents and purposes, an innocent when it comes to anything "human." I liked them as a couple and their story really makes for an intriguing start to this series.

However, even though I liked it, at times I found the flow of the novel to be slow and got a bit bored with it.

Nevertheless, I recommend this novel and series to those who like mystical paranormal suspenseful erotic-ish romances.

- On a side note -
In truth, because of the premise, the "goddess qualities," and the good vs. evil storyline I kept thinking about how this novel seemed to be a sweet mix of Ms. Cast's "Divine By Blood" & Ms. Royce's The Outsiders Series.

Author's Book Trailer :

Book Teaser(s) :
I must find her promptly. I send calming thoughts her way with hopes it will help her to last longer without air. She is over the hill, only a half mile from our home. There are dark forms surrounding her, hooded and oozing evil. I cannot make out what they are saying. All I now hear is the blood rushing, pounding in Iria's ears as if it is my very own.
I have dropped our things a ways back and believe they will still be there when we are ready to retrieve them. I call to the light to use its power, the power within me so I can get to her sooner. I find myself standing right in front of her now with my back to the enemy. Realizing my position, I quickly turn and send blasts of energy and fire at each form I see. Only hitting half of them while the others are scrambling to get away.
There must be at least a dozen of them. From what I sense, they are all full of darkness. Only out to destroy and corrupt.
I let my light forth at full power surrounding Iria and myself in its warmth and protection.
The evil surrounding Iria seems to slowly melt away until she falls to her knees gasping for air. I feel deep within that she is already feeling better and no permanent harm has come to her. Thank the goddess!
What do they want with her? They cannot know who or what she truly is—can they? ~ within Chapter 9

- This is an ARC book - Available Formats through Amazon.com: Paperback - Pages: 139; Kindle Edition - File Size: 2107 KB | Expected Release Date: March 19, 2014 | Publisher: Bad Luck Publishing | Obtained: NetGalley

"Dragons Don't Cry" [Fire Chronicles, Book 1] by D'Elen McClain

Author's Book Description : One pint sized human female who’s had too much to drink, not enough sleep, and absolutely no patience meets one stubborn dragon shifter with an attitude.

Bastian claims Acasia, his unwilling bride, after she spends the night carousing with friends. She’s not happy, he’s pissed off, and with a curse from a goddess thrown in, you’ll see Bastian breathe fire.

Add secrets, treasure, and unimaginable heartbreak for an emotionally humorous read and discover why Dragons Don’t Cry.

My Book Review : 4 out of 5 stars! Fans of Ms. McClain will love her newest series, which is a slight spin-off series of her Fang Chronicles, with its charismatic characters and their sarcastic--and slightly devious--ways!

Endearing, charming, funny, and entertaining this novel keeps you on your toes! From it's slight foundation based in Greek Mythology to the unique realms the dragons are able to travel too this novel takes a unique approach to paranormal romance that will keep you captivated.

Plus, it helps that Acasia and Bastian are a combustible duo! With Acasia's feistiness and Bastian's stubbornness you can never be sure as to what these two will end up doing next!

Their romance gives me hope for this series and the other dragons! I recommend this novel and series to anyone who is a fan of the Fang Chronicles and/or those who love paranormal romances!

Book Teaser(s) :
"Why did you throw a fit and trash your filthy tower last night, Bastian?"
She'd seen my rage, didn't run from it even after tempting me to murder. Definitely insane. But more beautiful than any bride I'd ever known. "I was jealous of your finger." I huffed it out, the thought still making my anger rise. ~ within Chapter 9
"Why are you here, bastard blue child of Cookie Monster?" ~ within Chapter 13
"Our son is waiting for you at home. What am I supposed to say, 'Mommy can't read to you tonight, she fell on the floor and damaged her brain?"
"I didn't damage my brain on the floor. I did it on the wine."
He raised his eyebrows.
"Acasia, meet Honey, my mate, the father of my son, and the keeper of my..." she stumbled again, but this time Honey picked her up over his shoulder and looked at me.
"She meant to say balance. I keep her balance."
"Heart, you dumbass. Let me down." ~ within Chapter 14
