I am usually not one for infidelity/adultery/cheating of any kind by either party, but from the beginning, even though Laney and Niklas had been together five years, it didn't FEEL like a relationship. He was patronizing and condescending, and she just seemed to go along with it because she did enjoy certain aspects of being with him. I never felt any amount of emotional love from either of them for the other one. They were two people in a holding pattern. Um, correction - LANEY was in a holding pattern. We soon find out Niklas isn't as innocent as we first believe.

I always felt Laney's desire for a child was partly just her heart trying to fill the void left by Niklas...and filled by MADS! YAAY! LOL!

I recommend this series to anyone and everyone - race is not the focus, nor should it be. Laney is a woman...who happens to be African-American. Doesn't change the yearnings of her heart, the way she loves or the pain she feels. We read for a variety of reasons, one of which is to know we are not alone. But, we also read to learn, grow and understand, and stepping out of our comfort zones just might be the best thing that could happen to us...and books...and life.Felicia Denisehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10009631023377157781noreply@blogger.com
