Feasted On: Raised by Wolves Series, Book 2

Format: Hardcover | Pages: 357 | Release Date: June 2011 | Publisher: Egmont USA | Obtained: Pasquotank-Camden Library

"Trail By Fire" [Raised by Wolves Series, Book 2] by Jennifer Lynn Barnes

My Book Summary : Bryn has been the Alpha of her Cedar Ridge Pack for a while now. Things are going great in day-to-day life, even with still having to go to school. That is until Thanksgiving Day (and during their school break) a weak and broken teenage werewolf gets dropped onto her front porch asking her for help, and bring with him a truck-load full of trouble.

Will she be able to come out of this without a scratch? Or will she finally meet her match one way or another??

My Book Review : 4 out of 5 stars! This sequel, of "Raised by Wolves," has so many twists and turns that I was shocked by some of the events that occurred! This novel is suspenseful, sad, and endearing. It builds you up for the next installment of this series, expected to be released in June 2012. Which I can NOT wait for it to come out!!

• I'm still very happy about the relationship between Chase & Byrn! However, I was scared, sad, and mad a few times in this novel because of the choices that were made between them .... but I'm happy with how everything turned out.

• I'm very intrigued with who Byrn meets but 'can't quite touch' in her dreams, and how Callum's promise to her will change who she is for the better.

Again ... I recommend this to everyone who loves paranormal YA stories!! Those who are fans of Jennifer Lynn Barnes, Gena Showalter, Stephenie Meyer, and who likes werewolf novels should enjoy this novel as much as I did!

My Previous Review(s) for this Series : Book 1

Book Teaser(s) :
Apparently, keeping Archer out of my head was no protection against more mundane mind games. Even though I knew he was trying to get to me, I couldn't help staring at the image on the wall and wondering if he was right.
"Admit it, little Byrn---they've done a real number on you. Not a werewolf, barely human. They took you and they raised you and they used you. You're just a kid, and you never even had a chance."
I wasn't entirely sure how to reply. Blow me and screw you both seemed like strong contenders, but the peanut gallery in my head appeared to be favoring castration. ~ within Chapter 19

Idolizing In: Raised by Wolves Series, Book 1

Format: Hardcover | Pages: 418 | Release Date: June 2010 | Publisher: Egmont USA | Obtained: Pasquotank-Camden Library

"Raised By Wolves" [Raised by Wolves Series, Book 1] by Jennifer Lynn Barnes

My Book Summary : Bronwyn's (Bryn) life changed when she was 4-years-old and a Rabid werewolf slaughtered her family. Thankfully a local pack alpha, Callum, step in during the slaughter and stopped the Rabid from attacking Bryn at that time, and brought her into his clan to live (keeping her human).

Now she's 15-years-old, a part of Callum's pack --- but not, since not everyone accepts having a human living among them after all this time. Recently Bryn finds out that there is a threat in Callum's territory but no one is willing to inform her of what the threat is, yet they are more protective of her then ever.

After a while of being left in the dark Bryn decides to take matters into her own hands so, she can find out what's going on. However, what she ends up finding will change her world forever ....

My Book Review : 5 out of 5 stars!! I have to agree, completely, with Melissa Marr when she said, "Quite simply, the most compelling YA werewolf book out there." And Ms. Marr is soo right! This novel/series takes on a new meaning in and of itself. Even though I've only read the first novel, thus far, but it was so heart-warming, intriguing, and mysterious that I didn't want to put it down even when I had too!

• Bryn is mysterious from what happened to her in her past to who she is to who she becomes ... you really can never be sure what she'll do next, other then knowing she will do whatever she can to make things right.

• Her relationship with her friends, Devon & Lake, had moments of hilarity to a seriousness that comes from years of friendship, and makes you wish you could join in the fun.

• Chase! What can I say .... I loved him!! I hope they are okay and still together in the next book since I really really liked their relationship together!!

• And okay I know that she had a VERY small role in this book but I could not get enough of Lily!! She sounded soooo cute! =0)

I can't wait to read the next novel, "Trial by Fire," and I'm so excited to hear (off of Ms. Barnes website) that there will be a third book in the series that'll be released in June 2012!!

I recommend this to everyone who loves paranormal YA stories!! Those who are fans of Jennifer Lynn Barnes, Gena Showalter, Stephenie Meyer, and who likes werewolf novels should enjoy this novel as much as I did!

Book Teaser(s) :
Well, at least I wasn't completely on my own. Though after a moment's reflection, I wasn't sure if that was a comfort or not. My allies in this circle consisted of a fashion-conscious teenage boy who believed in the holy power of the movie musical and two infants wearing shirts with little yellow and blue duckies on them.
An army, we were not. ~ within Chapter 8
"This doesn't mean we're mates," I told him.
He opened his mouth very wide in a mischievous, wolfy yawn.
"Women's liberation and all that," I continued, catching his yawn and trying to push it down. "No Mark. No lifetime commitment. No 'property of' signs. We just have a bond, that's all."
His tail beat quietly against the dirt beneath us, and a smile worked its way onto my lips. ~ within Chapter 16

Feasted On: The Mercian Trilogy, Book 1

- This is an ARC book - Format: Hardcover | Pages: 263 | Release Date: September 27, 2011 | Publisher: Egmont USA

"Blood" [The Mercian Trilogy, Book 1] by K. J. Wignall

My Book Summary : For over seven hundred years Will (William of Mercia) has known the thing that bit him, in 1256, changed him. Until the recent years, through knowledge he gained in books, he wasn't sure of what one of his "type" was called, as no one was there to tell him or show him what he could or would have to do now. However, he does plan to get vengeance on the one who did this to him and his family though, no matter what happens.

Now during his recent exit from "hibernation," Will is in another time period and it seems the rules have completely changed. Especially when you now have your "food" giving you prophesies about your destiny, a person comes into your life that you would now do anything for, and you have spirits/demons and other magical beings out to see you killed.

For a guy who always wondered why this happened to him, or what the purpose might be for this to have happened, it looks like his questions might start being answered ..... if he can just not get killed (or any of his new friends killed) along the way.

My Book Review : 4 out of 5 stars!!! This is an EXCELLENT novel, that takes on a wonderful new twist to the YA vampire theme!! I love how this novel tells you what happens in a rapid pace format but then also fills you in on Will's past in a diary-type setting. Very well written. And for someone like me who doesn't like mystery novels that much, this one kept my attention the whole way through!!

Book Teaser(s) :
"What happened?"
Will turned to look at the girl who was sitting on the edge of the step, rubbing her head.
"I think you banged your head."
"Cute but dumb, just my luck."
"Sorry?"
"Nothing. I know I banged my head. What I mean is . . ." She sounded incredulous as she said, "Did you beat them up or something?"
"No, not really," he said, relieved that she hadn't seen most of what had happened.
"So I don't owe you anything?"
"Of course not, nor would you if I had fought with them." ~ within Chapter 7

Made the Grade: things i know about love by Kate le Vann

Format: Paperback | Pages: 167 | Release Date: June 2010 | Publisher: Egmont

"things i know about love" by Kate le Vann ( I read this as a part of We Love YA! A young adult arc tour site)

My Book Summary : Livia has had a tough hand in life and in love. When she was in her early teens, she was diagnosed with leukemia, thus little time for the things that gave her a broader social life. Then during the times she did have a boyfriend, once things got worse with her disease they seem to go running for the hills.

Now during the summer after she passed her sixth year, Livia plans to visit her older brother while he is at Princeton University. During her time, there she hopes to have a summer fling and find the truth about love or at least get a better understanding about what she knows about it. Once there she starts a private blog to document her summer and analyze what happened in her previous relationships to see if that can help her find out about her future.

She finds that she likes America ... it's fun, and almost completely different then what she's used to. Plus, she takes an interest in her older brother's friend Adam, who just happens to be British too. Could this be whom she chooses as her summer fling?

My Book Review : 3.5 out of 5 stars, WOW just wow!!! The beginning of this story really didn't pull me in but I'm glad that I stuck with it since I fell in love with Livia, Adam and her brother. They were all great characters. And I'm soo happy that you get to read Adam's blog along with Livia's.

Warning -- YOU WILL NEED TISSUES!

Book Teaser(s) :
I gasped theatrically, pretending to be horrified that he hadn't forgiven me. "You can trust me now!" I squeaked. "We're both adults. I'm nearly eighteen, remember? I can vote soon."
"And that is truly frightening," Jeff said. "Er . . . remind me, who's the Home Secretary?"
"Ha! Well! As it happens, I have already made plans to find out who the Home Secretary is. And the Foreign Secretary."
"Oh, you're right," Jeff mocked, "the country is safe in your hands. It's good that you didn't waste all that time when you were stuck in hospital. And, how about naming the Star Trek movies, in order?"
"One: The Motion Picture, Two: The Wrath of Khan, Three: The Search for Spock....Just because I know this doesn't mean I don't know important polit---"
"Go on," he said, raising one eyebrow. ~ within blog entry dated July 25
