My Book Review : My daughter got this as a Christmas novel (in 2015) from her Grandfather and recently (in 2017) decided to use it as her first 1st Grade book report book. She has nothing but sweet words to say about it and it was the first novel she was able to read by herself.

It's a great learning novel and it's very silly.

Idolizing In: Always Series, Book 3 | #BookReview @CherieMHudson @lexxie_couper

- This was an ARC book - Available Formats through Amazon: Paperback - Pages: 280 | Release Date: June 30, 2016 | Publisher: Momentum Books : Moonlight | Obtained: NetGalley

"Undeniable" [Always Series, Book 3] by Cherie M. Hudson (aka Lexxie Couper)

Author's Book Description : Listen to your heart.

Sit still for a moment. Close your eyes. Listen. Just listen. What do you hear? When I do that, I hear … fuzz. Okay, not really fuzz, but it’s hard to explain what I hear. Put your hands over your ears. Hear that? That’s kind of like what I hear, but not really …
I feel sound. Does that make sense? Being deaf in one ear and partially deaf in the other sucks. People think I’m dumb. I’m not dumb. I just can’t hear you. I’ve worked out however, people thinking you’re dumb actually works to your advantage. When people think you’re dumb, they don’t expect anything from you. And when they don’t expect anything from you, you don’t have to engage with them. I’m okay with that.
So why the hell is my sister’s boyfriend’s cousin, an annoying Australian named Caden, so adamant he wants to talk to me? I can’t work out if he’s laughing at me, or if he can see what I can see … the world is worth laughing at. What kind of name is Caden any way?
I also can’t work out why, for the first time ever, I wish I could truly hear the way normal people do. Surely it has nothing to do with the fact I wonder what his heart would sound like beating in his chest if I lay my head on it. I can’t work it out and I don’t like it.
Damn it.

My Book Review : 5 out of 5 stars! Yes, Caden loves his cousin like a brother and would do anything he can for his cousin’s family (and has on more than one occasion) but that isn’t the real/only reason he travels whenever he could to San Diego, California during his time off from his university in Australia. The real reason is because of his cousin’s sarcastic, snarky, big hearted sister-in-law Chase (Chastity). He has been in love with her from just about the beginning of their “relationship” and now he just has to prove it to her any way he can. But while Chase tries to keep him at bay, others conspire against them. Will Caden’s actions be enough to win her heart for good or will he fumble up any chance they have of being together?

I really liked this contemporary new adult romance that is written in a diary style kind of way. It was easy to follow along (as this is the first novel from its Always Series that I’ve read) and I enjoyed how it gave the reader a way of viewing/learning about Caden and Chase’s thoughts on WHY they did the things they did throughout the novel. All in all, it was easy to realize that though Chase and Caden were perfect for one another they both had some growing to do in comprehending what they wanted out of life and each other. In their novel, you get to see their growth, their love for one another, and see how much Chase needed to come to an understanding about her past and what she wanted out of her future. This novel is VERY well written.

Caden and Chase have very similar personalities, though when they had bad things happen to them when they were younger they took very different approaches to life and how they handled the circumstances that are thrown their way. Because of that, it makes for a whole lot of drama in their novel, but the tension that grows finally has them fessing up to their true feelings for each other so it all works out for the best. And how they fessed up …. in truth I was charmed. Together they make a great couple that I rooted for from the start. Their story is one that is unique but meaningful enough that it’ll definitely stick with me.

I HIGHLY recommend this novel to those looking for an incomparable contemporary new adult romance!

"Calling It" [Calling It Series, Book 1] by Jen Doyle

Author's Book Description : Baseball player Nathan Hawkins needs to get away from Chicago. After a near career-ending car accident and with paparazzi surrounding his penthouse, Nate can only think of one place to go: home. But when he finds his old apartment occupied by a half-naked woman wielding a baseball bat, he’s not sure what to think…except that maybe his luck has finally changed for the better.

Librarian Dorie Donelli never thought she’d get to meet her fantasy man in person–much less while she’s wearing her bathrobe. To her surprise, her nearly naked run-in with Nate leads to more unclothed encounters. But Dorie is sure their fling is only temporary. As long as she remembers he’ll be gone once his life gets back on track, she won’t get hurt. In the meantime, she throws herself into enjoying their three weeks together before he has to report for spring training and go back to his old life.

For Nate, being with Dorie is the only time in months that he finds himself smiling. Laughing. And he has no intention of letting that go. He might even befalling in love…if only Dorie will let him say the words. What they have isn’t just a dream, but the start of a dream come true.

My Book Review : 4 out of 5 stars! A top playing baseball catcher goes home during his off-season with hopes of straightening out his life. Though who he finds to help him along the way is the one woman that he can't seem to get enough of and who doesn't want anything more from him other than a fling? Can he prove to her that they'll be able to last?

This hilariously drama filled contemporary romance was unexpected yet has a "down to earth" feel to it too. I enjoyed the build-up this plot has, while I was thoroughly entertained by its characters. It’s a wonderful baseball romance that reminded me a bit of Ms. Tan's “The Hot Streak.”

Like Nate (Nathan), I LOVED the way he met Dorie (Lucinda). They have a light hilarity between them that carries through this novel and draws its readers into their relationship even more. Yet, it was their intense connection that moved me and had me rooting for them from the beginning.

My only wish was that the last four chapters were written better so I could've liked Dorie more. I understand she was scared but she took the drama to a level that it really didn't need to go.

Nevertheless, I DO recommend this novel for those wanting a unique contemporary baseball romance.

Idolizing In: The Royals Series, Book 1 | #BookReview @TeriWilsonauthr

"Royally Roma" [The Royals Series, Book 1] by Teri Wilson

Author's Book Description : In this charming, modern retelling of the classic Audrey Hepburn film Roman Holiday, a royal prince tries to escape his hectic and rigid life and ends up leading a young graduate student on a chase through the Eternal City.

Julia Costa is too busy trying to complete her PhD while also holding down a full-time job as a private tour guide in Rome to keep up with celebrity gossip. So when she crosses paths with a real, actual prince, she mistakes him for a client and takes him on a daylong tour of the city.

Intrigued by the idea of spending time with someone who obviously has no idea who he is, and delighted at the prospect of a day free of royal obligations, Niccolo La Torre, Crown Prince of Lazaretto, acts on impulse and assumes the role of Julia’s client. He swears to himself that he’ll return to his royal duties after only half a day…but he’s having the time of his life.

Until Julia presents him with the bill. Since he snuck out of the hotel without so much as a dime, he tries to escape, only to discover that she won’t let him out of her sight until he can pay her back. She’s determined to get her money…and perhaps more from the handsome stranger she’s fallen for.

My Book Review : 5 out of 5 stars!! After feeling beaten down by his own royal responsibilities, Niccolo (Nico/Mano) the heir to the Lazaretto throne decides on escaping his gilded cage by pretending to be someone else when he meets Julia. Julia is an American tour guide living in Rome, who is running from her own notorious past and is in the midst of pulling her life together when she meets Niccolo. Their attraction is instantaneous and is blooming into something more by the minute. Yet when Niccolo’s “quick getaway” turns into something a whole lot more and into a bigger fiasco then he originally planned, will he still be able to go back to his “real” life after all is said and done; or will he be able to change his life for the better with the help of Julia by his side?

Okay truth time … this novel is said to be a modern retelling of the classic Audrey Hepburn film ‘Roman Holiday,’ and though I have heard of it I have never watched it so I really didn’t know what it was about. Yet I can definitely say I was not disappointed in the least as I was hooked by Chapter 2. It was the banter between Niccolo and Julia that reeled me in, especially how it seemed that Julia could get to the heart of any situation which made her be able to handle and understand Niccolo better than most people. Together they seemed to light up each page as you learned about their unusual meetup and budding romance. Though both were resistant to the possibility of something more between them because of the reality of their lives it seemed like fate wanted them together no matter what. It was very charming to see them both succumb to fate.

I recommend this novel 100% to anyone looking for a quirky contemporary new adult romance! My only regrets, though they didn’t tarnish my love for this novel, was that given today’s technology I kept thinking that Niccolo’s security would find him because of his cell phone AND I wish the ending wasn’t so abrupt. And yet I still HIGHLY recommend it! 😊

Disappointmentville: Her Stepbrothers are Werewolves by Trinity Blacio | #BookReview @trinityblacio

- This is an ARC book - Available Formats through Amazon: Kindle Edition - File Size: 326 KB | Expected Release Date: September 1, 2016 | Publisher: Riverdale Avenue Books | Obtained: NetGalley

"Her Stepbrothers are Werewolves" [Stepbrothers Series, Book 7] by Trinity Blacio

Author's Book Description : Lucy Ballard’s life sucked. First her father was killed in a boating accident, then some nut job she thought would be her husband, took something from her that left a hole in her heart the size of a watermelon. She was convinced that no man would want her now –she wasn’t whole. The one thing she had dreamed of all her life–to have a big family–was now physically impossible.

Duke and Nolan Masters were brothers, even though Duke was now the alpha of their pack. They shared everything else, including women. So it was no surprise that their mate would be one and the same, but they never imagined it would to be their new stepsister, Lucy Ballard. Not to mention the fact that she can’t’ have children, and the reaction of the pack to this would bring serious trouble.

Could the three of them come together? Would the pack accept her as their new alpha bitch even though she was damaged? Duke and Nolan were about to make sure of it, because otherwise there would be only one choice–to step down as alpha and move away from everything they knew.

My Book Review : 2 out of 5 stars. Lucy's life wasn't easy yet she thought she had it well and truly planned out. That is until her mother arrives with a new husband, which is a werewolf, and learns that her new stepbrothers are her mates. Everything in her life gets turned upside down, but as long as her dream life still comes true .... that's all that matters .... right?

I think I had too high of hopes for this novel, since even though it had all of Ms. Blacio's usual novel selling points this novel didn't hook me as I'd have liked it too. Everything was just okay. Then I found there were quite a few storylines that were never completed so you’re left hanging a bit.

I only recommend this novel to those who are fans of Ms. Blacio and hope you'll enjoy it more than I did.

"Carrying the King's Pride" [Kingdoms & Crowns Series, Book 1] by Jennifer Hayward

Author's Book Description : A marriage for the monarch

One last New York night with Sofia Ramirez is all Prince Nikandros Constantinides allowed himself before returning to Akathinia, after a dreadful accident took his brother's life. But before the royal rebel is crowned, Nik discovers that he didn't leave Sofia behind alone!

In a baby's heartbeat, Nik turns Sofia's world upside down and whisks her away to his Mediterranean kingdom. Dissolving a politically perfect engagement is not what Nik—or his country—had in mind, but this proud prince will do whatever it takes to legitimize his new rule…with a wife and child!

My Book Review : 2 out of 5 stars. On the night that Sofia decides to call it quits with Nik (Nikandros) .... she ends up pregnant and Nik's older brother dies, which in turn makes him next-in-line to become King. Then because of his father's health, he seems to become King (a role he was never supposed to have) over night. Though when he learns of Sofia's pregnancy, it feels as though life goes from bad to worse. Sofia wants/needs trust and love in her life for their relationship to work .... will Nik be able to give that to her?

I wish I could've liked this novel more, but I just couldn't. I struggled with it from the beginning, mostly because Sofia and Nik's relationship felt so forced. Then add in Nik's condescending ways and I can say for 75% of this novel I did not like the man. In addition, the plot's flow/mojo just was off or didn't feel right and lead me to believe that something else (like Nik being setup in a compromising way) was going to take place right up until the end and that never happened. 😕

Overall, this one wasn't for me and I don't feel comfortable recommending it. However, please check it out for yourself as it could be the book for you.

Made the Grade: A Daddy for Baby Zoe? by Fiona Lowe | #BookReview @FionaLowe

- This is an ARC book - Available Formats through Amazon: Paperback - Pages: 256; Kindle Edition - File Size: 511 KB | Expected Release Date: January 1, 2016 | Publisher: Harlequin : Medical Romances | Obtained: NetGalley

"A Daddy for Baby Zoe?" by Fiona Lowe

Author's Book Description : A baby to bind them

Weeks away from giving birth, Dr. Meredith Dennison finds herself with no husband and few funds. Retreating to Shearwater Island, she just wants to hide from the world…until she meets her gorgeous, caring neighbor, multimillionaire Raf Camilleri.

Meredith is the last woman Raf should fall for. He's no more ready for her and newborn baby Zoe than Meredith is for him! But they so need his support, and their tender pull makes it impossible for Raf to stay away…

My Book Review : 3 out of 5 stars! Meredith (M) thought she had everything planned out and after years of waiting for her husband, to be ready she is now pregnant and about to be a mother. Yet, life isn’t as easy as she wished especially when married to an extreme adventure-seeker. Then when she gets the unexpected news that her husband died in an avalanche while on Australia’s Mount Feathertop, to say she was shocked would be an understatement. Therefore, she retreats to her and her husband’s vacation home to try to work through her grief and it is there that she meets Rafael (Raf) her neighbor who is still struggling through he own personal turmoil. Over the course of them getting to know and help one another, Meredith gives birth to Zoe who changes both Raf and Meredith’s lives for the better. Will Zoe be able to turn them into a family too?

Wow. This novel is more realistic then I was hoping for, yet it worked. As it was very believable. While I am happy with Meredith’s personal standards and how much she truly loved her husband, in the same breath it annoyed be to no end because of how great a guy Raf was and how she kept on putting him at a distance. Especially after you hear about Raf’s backstory I was surprised by how obtuse Meredith seemed by her actions and why Raf clung onto their relationship more/faster than she expected. It was because of how Meredith handles everything that it made it hard for me to enjoy this novel as much as I’d have liked. On the flip side though, it was because of Meredith’s actions that this novel feels more real and believable.

I recommend this to those looking for believable yet fictional contemporary “new parenthood” romance.

'A Thousand and One Baby Names,' he said with a grin. 'This has to be the only occasion Dad's hoarder tendencies have come in handy.'
He sat back down against the bed end and opened the age-yellowed pages. 'Okay. Abby, Acacia, Ada, Adelaide, Africa, Aisha, Alberta, Amanda---'
She stared at him, gobsmacked. 'You're not seriously going to read out a thousand names?'
His finger paused on the page and he looked up with a slight frown on his face. 'You've got nine hours to come up with a name that both suits possum here and that you love or else she'll be named for you.'
'Put that way, I see your point.'
He winked at her and went back to reading. 'Amelia, Angela, Aphra, Ardith...'

Made the Grade: The Wedding Charade by Melissa McClone | #BookReview @melissamcclone

- This is an ARC book - Available Formats through Amazon: Kindle Edition - File Size: 1566 KB | Expected Release Date: May 2, 2016 | Publisher: Self-Published | Obtained: Melissa McClone

"The Wedding Charade" [Four Weddings and a Fiasco World Series] by Melissa McClone

Author's Book Description : Growing up in her twin sister's shadow, Claire O'Ryan has made a life for herself away from family and the Hollywood limelight. But when her sister's lies start spinning out of control and she finds herself in trouble, Claire and her former crush are forced to help out.

A-list actor Brady Simms enjoys playing a good part and pretending to be engaged to his childhood best friend, Claire, sounds like an interesting role. Planning a fake wedding happens all too easily. Acting like he's madly in love with the quiet, sweet librarian feels all too right. And her kisses…all too perfect. Will a game of make-believe turn into a real-life happily ever after?

My Book Review : 3 out of 5 stars! Longtime friends are thrown into an unexpected romantic relationship in hopes of helping someone else they both care about. While dealing with major close proximity after being apart for a long time they start to find that the person they want to be in a relationship with is with each other. But will their loved ones, rabid fans, and life simply keep them apart for good or will their true wishes finally come true?

Though I’ll freely admit that Ms. McClone’s book description intrigued me into reading this novella, it didn’t take me long to realize that because of some of the characters in this novella I really hesitated in liking this one or not. I can say right off the bat that I HATE/LOATH Claire’s twin sister, Cate, and their parents. I get the reasons that their parents sided with Cate as they were not allowing Claire to tell them her side of the story but how they treated Claire and then their quick reversal after they learned the truth REALLY irked me. THEN there is the phenomenon that is Claire’s twin sister Cate, who all I can really say is crazy. Claire might have been a bit crazy too to agree to everything she did for Cate. However, I completely understand her love for Brady. Though Brady was a bit dim-witted because he thought Cate did everything “out of the goodness of her heart,” he truly was the perfect man for Claire. The ONLY reason I stuck through this whole novella was because of Claire and Brady’s relationship, along with Claire’s silly cat Thor and their animated bodyguards.

Though I struggled through this novella, I would STILL recommend it to those looking for a new adventure from the ‘Four Weddings and a Fiasco’ World and/or looking for a quirky contemporary romance.

"The Earl's Return" [Marriage Mart Mayhem Series, Book 7] by Callie Hutton

Author's Book Description : London, 1819. Four years ago, Darius, the Earl of Redgrave fled London two weeks before his wedding to Lady Mary’s sister and married another woman. Now a widower, he has returned to seek a new wife.

One woman catches his eye...

At first, Lady Mary doesn’t recognize the handsome lord as the cad who ran out on her sister. After giving him the cut direct in a London ballroom, she finds herself running into him everywhere she goes, and fighting a forbidden attraction. Not only has Mary sworn off men, Redgrave is so very wrong for her. But she cannot stop thinking of his kisses. Redgrave means to stay away from Mary but it is impossible. Passion between two people who can never be together is a dangerous game.

My Book Review : 4.5 out of 5 stars! Four years ago, Redgrave (Darius) ran out on his fiancée to elope with a woman he was coerced into marrying. Now after his wife has passed away Redgrave is back in London so he can find a new wife, someone who he'll be able to have a meaningful relationship with, which he wasn't able to get in his first marriage. What Redgrave didn't plan for was falling for the younger sister of his ex-fiancée. Yet, could things finally be working out for Redgrave or will others from his past find a way to set him up for failure again...

An enticing novel from beginning to end, this historical romance keeps you on your toes as you fall in love with Redgrave and his budding relationship to Mary. They are one of those couples who seem to work from the get go, then add in their intense attraction to each other and you have a compelling read I didn't want to put down.

I recommend this novel to those looking for a unique historical romance.

Book Teaser(s) :
"I understand you have every right to dislike me. I acknowledge the pain and suffering I caused your family, and particularly Lady Abigail. Even though I offer my apology, I do not expect you to accept it. However, whatever my intentions, we will be working together for the betterment of the orphans, and I suggest we declare a truce."
She pulled his jacket closer around her, until she realized what she was doing when his scent grew stronger, so she released her hold on the coat. "Very well. We have a truce." She waved her hand. "You may leave me now."
To her irritation he burst out laughing. "So says the queen."
Even she had to grin. She did, indeed, sound like royalty giving her commands to underlings. ~ within Chapter 3
