Laughing and chatting about some race Hew had once rode on Diana's horse, they seemed to hardly take any heed of Vesta at all. How dare Aunt Di monopolize him like this!

"Are you aright wi' the mare, miss?" Pratt asked her with solicitude not forthcoming from any other quarter.

"I am fine, Mister Pratt. It's just that she has been deprived of her normal gallop since leaving Yorkshire over a sennight ago. She is accustomed to frequent and vigorous exercise and can be a handful when denied."

Vesta continued to fume. Although she could handle her mare just fine, she wondered how they all would feel if some horrible accident befell her. They would both be sorry then!

That's it! Vesta couldn't believe the answer was right before her eyes. It only wanted the proper timing and a distraction for Pratt. Determined to put her plan into action, Vesta held back, letting the others ride farther ahead. When Pratt's head was turned, she saw her chance.

Whispering a prayer of supplication to her mama, her ever-diligent guardian angel, Vesta plucked out her hat pin and tossed the riding cap to the ground. "Oh dear, Mister Pratt," she exclaimed. "I've lost my favorite hat!"

"Ne'er fret, my lady," the elder jockey said, dropping to the ground with surprising agility. In that precious, desperate moment when he knelt to retrieve the hat, Vesta dropped her reins and spurred her mare.

Artemis, who never needed strong incentive to begin with, took off down Rotten Row like a bolt of dappled-gray lightning. Vesta hung over her mare's neck, clutching the mane as if fearing for her very life, but all the while whispering sweet endearments to her most cooperative conspirator. She knew it would be a mistake to look back. Instead, she urged and cooed and waited for the sound of thunder, for her knight in that lovely, crimson crested helmet to come to her rescue and prayed fervently that her savior would not be the grizzled, little Pratt.

When she saw Captain Hew's big bay stallion gaining on the right, Vesta once more thanked her watchful mama. Knowing he would try to grab the bridle to bring her horse to a halt, Vesta nudged the mare, urging more speed, with the cue of her left heel concealed by her voluminous and billowing petticoats. Her hair had fallen in a wind-whipped tangle about her face and neck. She felt the flush in her cheeks and her blood roaring with excitement. It was the most gloriously wild ride she'd ever had, and it was all she could do not to laugh aloud!

"Can you reach the reins," Captain Hew cried, coming upon her.

"No. I'm afraid!" Vesta whimpered.

They approached the entrance to Kensington Gardens with its myriad hedgerows. "Hell and the devil!" he exclaimed, surging forth, but still unable to claim the bridle. "Trust me, Vesta," he commanded. "Let go of the horse!"

Trust him? He was a god among mortals. She would trust him if he said she could fly! And that's exactly what she felt when he swept her off her horse and onto his own. Throwing her arms about him, Vesta burrowed into his neck and simply breathed in the heavenly essence of Captain Hewett DeVere.

My fate was unknown and a thousand and one horrors crept into my mind.

When Gilgamesh came he was not alone. On either side of him was a voluptuous, dusky skinned girl. His heavy arms draped about their waists, their silhouettes entered first, lit by the coruscating sconces in the passageway behind them. Once inside he tossed several hefty wedges of wood upon the copper fire pit and puffed life into the coals. The fragrant wood ignited, and the chamber was illuminated by leaping flames. As he did so, the girls crawled upon his sleeping mat with the fluidity of motion normally confined to felines. In fact, their eyes were heavily painted and very nearly resembled those of a cat. With long, slick, dark hair, the pair appeared very much alike.

"Ah yes, the girl who would tell her king how to conduct himself," Gilgamesh said softly as he stepped before me. "Don't think I have forgotten you. Were you a man I would have killed you on the spot for striking me."

I looked down to the floor, but Gilgamesh would not allow it. He placed a firm finger under my chin and titled my face up to gaze on him. I felt my cheeks burning with a blush, and I tried to turn away, but he held me transfixed.

She looked at him curiously for a moment before heading to the bathroom. When she stepped under the shower's stream, she sighed in relief. Her skin itched and felt over tight from the dried gunk left on her skin and in her hair after the shape-shifting.

As she relaxed under the spray of warm water, pictures of her in the shower started playing through her head. She was washing her hair and lathering the soap across her breasts when Nolan arrived. Her belly quivered with lust which pooled, then spread as she envisioned him in there with her.

When her daydream reached the point of him entering, she realized it was his thoughts in her head. The fantasy abruptly stopped as if someone had switched the channel. She tried to feel annoyed that his fantasy had intruded on her quiet moment, but the heat in her abdomen kept her from lying to herself.

She wanted him as much as he wanted her. She was aware of his struggle to control his thoughts and appreciated the attempt at valor. However, she knew that a single, healthy man with a woman he found attractive using his shower was bound to have sensual thoughts.

She finished, dressed in the clothes provided by him, and walked out to the main living area. He stood by a large bay window, looking out at the mountain in the distance. He turned toward her slightly, then shifted his gaze back to the picturesque view.

"I'm sorry," he said quietly and with dignity. "I've always judged other men for how they seemed to objectify every woman they see. Then I go and do it with a woman in my protection. I'm aware that you saw what I was thinking. I—"

She put a finger on his lips. "I too have read men's thoughts regarding women. Regarding me. You tried to keep yours in check. We saved each other's lives. We're coming down off the adrenaline high of battle combined with the lust of our animal sides. It's natural and healthy for you to see me as desirable. It's also honorable of you to stop them when you realize what you're doing."

Nolan looked at her intently, and she could feel him in her mind probing her for truth. She thought he didn't even know he was doing it. It was probably a technique he had employed since childhood. She smiled at him and kissed him softly on the mouth.

My Book Summary : Olivia's life has taking one hard hit after another. First not long after she asks her long-time boyfriend, Kyle, to take a break so she can be sure of their relationship before they move onto the next level (thinking they were going to get engaged and then married) she finds out that Kyle has slept with her younger sister. Then she finds out that her sister is pregnant and because of that, Kyle plans to marry her. To top that off, since she is a wedding planner, to save her parents money she reluctantly agrees to arrange their wedding.

However, when she arrives a few days before the wedding she finds an unlikely alliance in Brandon, Kyle's stepbrother. As the wedding comes, together Olivia and Brandon find themselves rekindling an interest in each other they've shared in high school. Will they find that what they have together is worth fighting for despite everything? Or will they realize that this is just short-time spark between them?

My Book Review : 4 out of 5 stars, this is a fun & sweet novella that sets you up for what seems to be a great series! I could not get enough of Olivia and Brandon; they were just so cute together!! Then with the story of both their families ... it made it all the better.

However, I really hated Olivia's sister, Noelle, she was such a bitch, and Olivia's mother wasn't much better. Yet I understand why her mother tries to make peace between her daughters but I just didn't like how she always seemed to side with Noelle. =0/

Even so, I would definitely recommend this novella and series to anyone who likes contemporary romances. Or whoever are fans of Susan Mallery's Fool's Gold Series!!

Jack (a bad boy Angel) is going to find that his world is going to drastically with his latest promotion and assignment, which puts him in the middle of a battle between the Light Ones and the Dark Ones that no one really expected.

What makes it harder for Jack is that his assignment means he's being sent to Earth and he highly dislikes humans. Yet throughout his assignment, his views about humans drastically change, especially after being around his neighbor Emmeline who draws out places within himself he didn't know existed.

Nevertheless, Jack will soon find that what he decides to do, save, and become will change everything for Earth and Heaven when it comes to the battle between the Light Ones and the Dark Ones. Will he be able to handle it all and get what he wants? Or will it all be too much?

My Book Review : 4.5 out of 5 stars. This is a new HOT series involving Angels and Demons with a couple of inspiring twists!! I have never read this type of novel before when it comes to Angels, and I am SOOO happy I read this one!! Jack's personal struggle with his life and his past are major points throughout the whole novel that keep you on your toes. While the growing relationship between Emme and Jack is hot, sweet, and real feeling with the way they handle everything that comes at them throughout this novel!

I couldn't get enough of it and didn't want to put it down! THEN --- the endings shocking twist that makes me wonder --- What happened to Jack?? Did they really merge? So, I can't wait until January 2013 to read book two in this series, "Borrowing Light."

I HIGHLY recommend this novel and series to anyone is into paranormal romances revolving around Angels and Demons.

- On a side note -
The version I read from Smashwords was full of spelling mistakes that I don't know if she mistakenly uploaded it or just never edited it. So, if you get that version and get irritated easily about spelling mistakes then I hope you'll receive a better version then I read.

Also -- what happened to Emme's cat Midnight, not that it really matters in the plot, but he was mentioned at the beginning of the novel but by the middle to the end I don't think he's mentioned at all. =0/

They dug out a place at the dining room table, moving aside some books she'd been flipping through earlier in the week to get ideas for her book.
"Harry Potter?" Sawyer said, holding one up with a crooked grin. That grin used to be all it took to do her in. "Aren't you a little old for witchcraft and vampires?" She snatched the volume from his hands a little harder than she meant to.
"He's not a witch. He's a wizard. And there are no vampires in Harry Potter." ~ within Chapter 17

My Book Summary : Six months ago, Allison (Allie) got her heart stomped on by her then-boyfriend of about three years, Paul, by him just up and moving after saying that she "was sucking the life out of him." Now she plans on keeping her heart safeguarded and just staying friends with any guy that comes along. Which seems pretty easy, especially when she has a lot on her plate. To begin with she’s the "bread earner" in her family (consisting of her 21-year-old sister, her 4-year-old niece, and her grandmother who's in a assisted living home) while taking on a full college work load to earn her Ph.D. and working as a teacher for the latest hit reality singing show Superstardom. It all makes it so Allie stays busy without having a love life or caring about not having one.

That is until one of the lead competitors of the show, 27-year-old Chris Knots, starts taking notice of her. At first, Allie puts everything between them down as a crush on her end and Chris just being nice. However, over time they both come to realize what's between them is so much more. If only they can keep what they have real while the fame of the show and Chris' leading "stardom" surrounds them. Will they make it?

My Book Review : 3.5 out of 5 stars, this is a thought provoking take on the reality singing show world that kept my attention wrapped while having me rooting for Allie and Chris the whole way!! I am surprised to say that since Allie mostly annoyed me throughout this novel, because of how she doesn't commit until the last minute. However, I understood that all problems with committing to Chris (or anyone for that matter) because of how badly burned she was and afraid of heartache she is again. As I pushed on, I could feel myself growing to love her close-knit group of friends and family! It turns into a very sweet moving romance story that I could not put down. And I'm sooo happy about whom Jake ends up with since I was hoping that from the beginning!!

All in all, I recommend this novel to anyone who likes contemporary romances, especially ones where the main male character in a hot singer!!

I dished out the soup, and we sat across from each other at the small table. “You made this?” he asked, scooping up a carrot and a noodle.

“Hey, I was going to eat that!” he protested as I dumped the contents of the bowl.

His bedroom door cracked open. “Are you ready?”
Was I ready? What a good question that was. I thought I was ready, but what, exactly, was I ready for?
“Allie?” The door opened wider, and he poked his head out.
“Yep,” I said, my voice soft. “Whenever you are.”
He opened the door the rest of the way and looked at me. I flushed and tried to wiggle further down the table. My heels were already at the edge.
“I thought maybe you’d bolted. Thought I’d scared you off or something.”
“I don’t scare too easily,” I said boldly.
He grinned. “Good to know. I’m going to use coconut oil. It’s raw and organic, what my sister uses on her clients.”
“What if I’m allergic to coconuts?”
He froze and looked down at me. “Are you?”
“No.”
His lips twitched into a smile. ~ within Chapter 20

Geoff wanted to retract his words. Had he just offered to be Fuzzy's Gay for Dummies guide? Did his brain not work properly around this bear? On the other hand, he couldn't help smiling and wondering just what Fuzzy would ask. By the look on Fuzzy's face, Geoff doubted he could even think of anything anyway.

"It's just a suggestion, but if you aren't comfortable enough to ask me any questions—"

"I don't want you to think I'm an ass or something." Fuzzy mumbled his words so softly they were barely audible.

"Throw a question at me."

Geoff noted that Fuzzy hadn't met his gaze at all since rising from the floor. In fact he seriously studied the two men on the television. Geoff had almost died of humiliation when he realized what channel he had left the TV on. Now he considered it a blessing in disguise.

"Okay." Fuzzy's soft voice caused Geoff to focus again. "They both seem to enjoy it." Fuzzy addressed Geoff while nodding at the entertainment they inadvertently partook of.

Huh? "Well, if you're not enjoying sex, then there's a good possibility you might be doing something wrong."

"Never mind." Fuzzy's neck turned red in embarrassment, and Geoff immediately realized his mistake.

He scooted closer to Fuzzy and put a hand on his arm. "Sorry. There's a malfunction with my brain to mouth filter half the time. The good news, you'll always know what I'm thinking. The bad news, you'll always know what I'm thinking." He chuckled to lighten the mood. "So, we both agree they're enjoying themselves. Your question?"

Fuzzy took in a deep breath but still didn't turn his head toward Geoff. If staring ahead helped Fuzzy through this conversation Geoff could handle that. Because he really wanted inside Fuzzy's head, all puns intended. Could this mean something? Or did Geoff's own desires put possibilities out there that didn't exist?

"I'm not an idiot. I get the mechanics of what they're doing, but shouldn't it hurt?"

The mechanics? Oh wow, Geoff almost didn't have anything to say to that.

"First, what they're doing is having sex. It's okay to say the word. You don't have to refer to the act as 'it' all the time. Second, the pain level depends on the preparation you do beforehand. Also, if you have a partner who's only interested in getting his rocks off, then yeah, that tends to land on the not good side."

"Preparation? You mean butt plugs?"

Geoff had to remind himself that Fuzzy wasn't a blushing virgin, even if he kind of fell into that category in this situation. "Well, yeah, that's one way of doing it. I own a few myself. They are good for masturbation. But that's not my favorite way."

"What's your favorite way?"

The red on Fuzzy's neck darkened. "That's different."

"Why?"

Fuzzy finally tore his eyes from the television screen and studied him. "Well, because, um..." His voice wavered off, and Geoff supposed he contemplated the question seriously. "I guess no, not so different, huh?"

Geoff wondered if it was wrong to want to do a happy dance. He'd gotten through the first roadblock. Unfortunately, another one always waited around the bend.

"What does it feel like when someone" —Fuzzy took a breath before continuing— "when someone stretches you?"

Welcome to the next roadblock.

Geoff searched his mind for the perfect words to describe that sensation. Words that would appeal to Fuzzy. He had to get this right because honestly, one half of his mind had begun plotting when the conversation turned down this road. If he played it right, if God truly existed, if Fuzzy labeled himself bi-curious—or more—maybe, just maybe, this could turn into a show-and-tell instead of just tell.

"It's a connection that's not easily surpassed. In my opinion, it's as intimate as a good kiss or actual penetration. Someone taking the time to make sure you enjoy the moment as much as they will. Talk about heady stuff. But I don't believe that's what you meant by feel, you meant the physical feelings not emotional, correct?"

Fuzzy simply nodded, the acknowledgement Geoff waited for. He knew that's what Fuzzy wanted all along but had seized the opportunity to verbalize what an act like this meant to him.

"Well, a burning sensation, but if done properly, it shouldn't hurt as much as you would assume. Also, if you're distracted in the right way during the stretching, well, so much the better."

"It doesn't hurt?"

Geoff searched around for a hard object to bang his head on. "Tell me. Exactly how curious are you about this subject?"

Fuzzy eyed him warily. "What do you mean?"

"How about a little round of show rather than tell?"

It was another of those mornings when Luke awoke, washing blood from his hands. He stared into the cracked sink basin and shuddered as trails of soapy bubbles and pink washed-out blood swirled down the drain. The blinding light from the single bare bulb above the small mirror hurt his eyes. He hated his face in that mirror more than the blood washing through the drain.

His muscles ached, his jaw clenched. His skin went clammy and a chill wave of cold washed over him. Luke's guts heaved and he lurched to the side, squeezing his eyes tightly shut. The churning in his belly intensified and he leaned over the toilet bowl, gagging and heaving as whatever the hell he'd eaten the night before came back up. Clutching tight to the bowl as wave after wave of nausea cramped his belly, he dropped to his knees in the tiny space. The cement floor abraded his bare knees, but he didn't care.

Shards of gritty bone and bits of sinew scratched his throat on the way up, and the coppery scent of blood filled his nostrils. He retched and gagged, flushing the toilet repeatedly, until acrid stomach bile was all that came up. Sagging, he rested his head on his crossed arms on the toilet. He craved nothing more than to sleep right then and there. Despite the weakness and lingering agony the transformation caused, he had to shower.

Luke dragged himself upright, leaning against the wall, and he stretched a shaking hand past the clear plastic shower curtain to turn the hot water on. Dried blood matted his hair, caked various parts of his body. The acid odor of vomit, mingled with the coppery scent of blood, made his stomach heave, but it was empty. He had to shower, and then clean up the bathroom and the rest of the cabin. He'd never sleep if the smell of blood stayed on him, in the air around him.

Nevil gave him a smile and slipped his warm hand into Shelton's. "Let's pick it up together. I feel like I've just been released from prison. I want to be outside for a while."

"Just don't get chilled," Shelton said, and then he groaned. "Please ignore me. I think I left my brain back in Colorado."

Nevil chuckled. "As long as your luscious body is here," he murmured and smacked his lips together.

Shelton glanced around quick. No one paid them any attention so he gave Nevil a light kiss; then wished he hadn't as every nerve in his body ignited. He wanted Nevil wrapped around him--now; with Nevil's gorgeous cock buried deep inside him.

He jerked his gaze down the tracks; embarrassed and aching. He hoped Nevil hadn't noticed the tremble in his hands.
