Made the Grade: The Bastard / Honor Bound by Brenda Novak

- This is an ARC book - Available Formats through Amazon.com: Paperback - Pages: 372; Kindle Edition - File Size: 501 KB | Expected Release Date: November 01, 2011 | Publisher: Self-Published | Obtained: NetGalley

"The Bastard" by Brenda Novak (Note: "Honor Bound" is another name for "The Bastard.")

My Book Summary : Lieutenant Treynor was born the bastard son of the Marchioness of Bedford so her was given to a poor farmer to raise and was mistreated in there care. Therefore, once he was fourteen years old he set off to the navy where he has risen in the ranks, and has hopes of becoming a Captain soon. However, one French aristocrat might just ruin him and his career forever ....

Jeannette Boucher is a young French aristocratic beauty whose family is now penniless since they escaped France during the war. Her family and she are now living as poor relations to their cousin Lord Darby, so for her family's welfare she gets married to a rich old gentleman, the Baron St. Ives, who just happens to be older then her father. However, for her family's happiness she is willing to marry him even if he grosses her out.

Yet the one thing she isn't willing to do be compromised just so her impotent husband can have an heir. Therefore, she runs away on her wedding night with the plan of arriving in London and getting her marriage annulled. But when her plans on getting to London go array and she finds herself pretending to be a boy on a naval ship. Jeannette will have to do what it takes to keep herself alive and unharmed if she ever plans to accomplish her final goals.

Will Jeannette be able to keep up with the men on the ship? Will she be able to accomplish everything that needs to be done for her to get to London in one piece or will she just loose her heart in the process?

My Book Review : 3.5 out of 5 stars, this fast-paced historical romance keeps you on your toes! I really liked Jeannette and Treynor!! They are a very stubborn couple, who both make sure everyone around them is treated well. Jeannette was a unique character. Because in the beginning of this book she plays the role of high aristocrat perfectly but throughout the book, she develops into someone who, even if she can't keep up with the boys, she finds her own way to do the things she needs to do to survive in the naval world she through herself into.

This book was not what I expected. Nevertheless, I liked reading it because it's new take on the "girl hides on a naval ship" theme. Especially since, it was so different from "Almost a Scandal" which I recently read. However, I did enjoy this novel even though it was so different.

I recommend this to anyone who enjoys historical romance novels!!

My Previous Review(s) for this Author : When We Touch

Book Teaser(s) :
An increase in activity, evidenced by the tramping of numerous feet and the hum of voices, sent fear prickling down Jeannette's spine. Treynor had to have told the captain about her by now. Were they searching for her? Would they postpone their departure on her account?
Surely a runaway wife was insignificant when compared to the mission of a frigate, especially during war.
But her husband was a very powerful man.... ~ within Chapter 9
"Is this your surprise?"
"It is."
"Is it seawater?"
"No. Sweet and fresh."
She knew those caskets were inaccessible to most. "Whom did you bribe?"
"Everyone," Treynor said simply.
"I must say you were right. I would do anything for a bath."
"Anything?" He cocked an eyebrow at her.
"Almost anything."
"Then a kiss should not be too much to ask. A kiss for first bathing rights."
A kiss? Dared she accept? ~ within Chapter 13

Blog Tour - Tall, Dark, and Divine by Jenna Bennett | Interview & Giveaway

Today I'm turning my blog over to Jenna Bennett, who I interviewed about her latest novel "Tall, Dark, and Divine," which is the 1st book in her Bagging a Greek God Series!!

ALSO -- Be sure to check out Rafflecopter at the bottom of this post to be able to sign up for this blog stop's GIVEAWAY!! [Blog Tour will run from August 10 - 14, 2012]

My Q&A with Jenna Bennett :

Jess : Can you tell us a bit about yourself?

Jenna : I grew up in Norway, moved to New York while I was still in my teens, met Mr. Right and got married, and ended up moving to Nashville, because he wanted to be involved in the music industry. We’re still here. I’ve worked a lot of jobs, none of them longer than two years, before I became a stay-at-home mom thirteen years ago, when my first son was born. I finished my first manuscript – in English, which is my second language – in 2006, had a book contract in 2007, and published my first book in 2008.

Jess : What books did you enjoy reading while growing up?

Jenna : I grew up in Norway, so some of the offerings were different, but I read a lot of Enid Blyton, as well as Trixie Belden, Nancy Drew and the Hardy Boys. Mysteries, in other words. Since I was an early reader, and worked my way through the children’s section of the library in short order, I started reading adult books fairly early. I remember reading "Gone With the Wind" at nine. I read a lot of P.G. Wodehouse and Agatha Christie in my teens, as well as my mother’s romance novels. Violet Winspear was a favorite, as was Barbara Cartland.

Jess : Which of your characters would you most & least like to invite to dinner, from which book and why?

Jenna : Tough question! I’d be happy to have almost any of my male characters visit; they’re all quite dishy and fun to hang with. Perhaps Dionysus, from "Tall, Dark and Divine?" He’s the kind of guy who’d liven up any party. And least? Maybe Hera, who’s a real ball-buster... although putting them together to see the sparks fly might be entertaining. :)

Jess : Please describe "Tall, Dark, and Divine" in 50 words or less.

Jenna : A paranormal romantic comedy in which Eros is determined never to get involved with a mortal again, since they’re nothing but trouble. But when sweet Annie Landon picks him up for a one-night-stand, will the Greek god of love stick to his guns, or will Annie get her man?

Jess : What sparked the idea for "Tall, Dark, and Divine?"

Jenna : Believe it or not, I was reading Gena Showalter’s Lords of the Underworld series – and enjoying it, but wishing it was a little less dark. I don’t really enjoy dark, to be honest. Sometimes I’ll veer off that way, both in reading and in writing, but it doesn’t usually last long. And suddenly the idea was there: a paranormal series based in Greek mythology, but light and humorous instead of dark. It started off with the vision of Eros, Greek god of love, and his matchmaking agency, and went from there. I chose the setting of Astoria, Queens, New York, because that’s where my husband lived when we first met, and where the two of us lived for the first five or six years after we were married. It’s a heavily Greek neighborhood, and seemed a good place to drop a bunch of ancient Greek gods and goddesses to see how they’d handle modern life.

Jess : Which usually comes first for you, the character(s) story or the idea for the novel?

Jenna : The idea, usually. I’ve written a lot of mysteries, and there, it’s often the setting spurring the idea and the plot. Many of them are based in real places and around real, historical events. In the romances, it’s still the idea, and then the characters. Sometimes the title comes first, and the whole book grows from there.

Jess : What is the most romantic thing one of your characters, from "Tall, Dark, and Divine," said or did?

Jenna :
I couldn’t let you say yes to Harry. Eternity is too long to live with a broken heart. ~ within Chapter 24
Jess : If "Tall, Dark, and Divine" were to be made into a film, who do you see playing the main characters and why?

Jenna : Gosh, I have no idea. The people in my mind don’t really look like anyone out there, so it’s hard for me to choose. Annie is 28, sweet-faced and a little plump, with shortish brown hair and blue eyes, while Eros is around six feet tall, with dark eyes and black curly hair. He’s a god. That isn’t easy to find. But I’d be happy to take suggestions. And hold auditions. I’d be very happy to hold auditions.

Jess : In regards to "Tall, Dark, and Divine," if you could write it all over again, would you change anything about it?

Jenna : Nope. I like it just the way it is!

Jess : What appeals to you when writing a romance novel?

Jenna : I enjoy writing dialogue, so there’s usually a bit of sexy banter. The more double-talk and sexual innuendo I can fit into the conversation, the happier I am. I don’t mind writing the love scenes – some turn out better than others – but I’d so much rather write the hero and heroine talking than getting it on. That’s where the falling in love happens, you know?

Jess : How many books have you written? Which is your favorite and why?

Jenna : Sixteen and a half. And I don’t have a favorite. That’d be like picking a favorite child. You just can’t.

Jess : Do you have any other projects in the works? If so, can you share a little of your current work with us?

Jenna : The 6th installment in my Do It Yourself Home Renovation mystery series, "Wall to Wall Dead," will be released September 4th. A category length contemporary romance called "Friends With Benefits" is coming the middle of October, and on November 13th, the first in my series of science fiction romances will arrive in stores. It’s called "Fortune’s Hero," and I’m SO excited about it. I’m currently working on the second in the series, called "Fortune’s Honor."

Here’s a tidbit:
For the first second or two, everything was silent. Holden pressed himself against the wall beside the door and endeavored not to breathe as he strained his ears to listen for sounds.
He couldn’t hear any. Not from outside.
After a moment, however, he became aware of sounds inside the room.
There was breathing. And rustling. Fabric sliding. Like—
A soft light turned on, and Holden gulped.
Not a hotel, you nitwit. A brothel.
He was in a bedroom. With a woman.
A beautiful woman, with the sheets clutched to what looked like her naked body, and with long, black hair tangled across her face and flowing over her shoulders.
And then she reached up to push the black tresses out of her face, and the world tilted, and all he could think was, “Ah, fuck...!
Jess : Have you ever gone out in public with your shirt on backwards, or your slippers on, and when realizing it, just said screw it?

Jenna : Don’t recall going out in slippers, at least not accidentally, but sure, I’ve gone out with my shirt inside out and such-like. Why worry about it? It could be a whole new fashion statement!

Jess : If someone wrote a biography about you, what do you think the title should be?

Jenna : "Tall, Dark and Divine?"

Jess : List 3 books you just recently read and would recommend?

Jenna : I’ve been reading some of Stephanie Bond’s rereleases, and really enjoyed "Kill the Competition," which is a light and funny romantic mystery. My fellow Covet author, Misa Ramirez’s "Deceiving the Witch Next Door" was a fun, sweet and steamy little read. And I really enjoyed Diane Alberts’s novella, "Try Me." Short, but very sweet. It came out a couple months ago, and it has stayed with me. Can’t wait for the sequel!

Blog Tour - Feasted On: His Forbidden Submissive by Brandi Evans | Interview, Review, & Giveaway

Today I'm turning my blog over to Brandi Evans, who I interviewed about her latest novel "His Forbidden Submissive!!"

ALSO -- Be sure to comment on this post to be able to sign up for this tour's GIVEAWAY (listed below)!! [Blog Tour will run from July 30 - August 10, 2012]

My Q&A with Brandi Evans :

Jess : Where were you born and where do you call home?

Brandi : I was born in Ft. Smith, AR, but my parents moved around a lot when I was a kid (dad was active duty Army until I was in high school). So needless to say I really don't claim a home town. I just claim Arkansas as being my home.

Jess : Who or what was your inspiration to begin writing?

Brandi : I'd have to say it was the voices. *grin* I've always had an active imagination. Stories have been rolling around in my head as long as I can remember, but the writing itself came later. It all began one day at the evil day job. It was lunchtime. I was bored. And a story was born, LOL.

Jess : Please describe your hero, from "His Forbidden Submissive," in one to two sentences.

Brandi : Only 1 or 2? How unfair! :-)

Brock Michaels is manly perfection wrapped up in layers of leathers and tatts. He's equal parts raw sexual power and understanding lover.

Jess : Which of your characters would you most & least like to invite to dinner, from which book and why?

Brandi : Most like to invite to dinner is easy. Brock from "His Forbidden Submissive."

Who I'd least like to invite to dinner? Hmm, probably Kaia from "Tempted." She was a fallen angel with a particularly nasty side.

Jess : Is there one particular scene in "His Forbidden Submissive" that you’re dying for readers to read? Can you tell us anything about it?

Brandi : I’d have to say the scene where Brock first gives Vivian aftercare following their first night at the club. It's such a sweet, tender scene that makes me tear up every time I read it.

Jess : Which usually comes first for you, the character(s) story or the idea for the novel?

Brandi : The sex scenes. Always. I build entire stories around sex scenes. Yep, I have issues, LOL.

Jess : If "His Forbidden Submissive" were to be made into a film, who do you see playing the main characters and why?

Brandi : Brock would have to be played by the cover model who depicted him on the cover, LOL. As for Viv, I'd cast Morena Baccarin (ya know the chick from "V") in her role. There's just something about her I love.

Jess : In regards to "His Forbidden Submissive," if you could write it all over again, would you change anything about it?

Brandi : Not really. I mean don't get me wrong. I could read the story 10,000 more times and make changes every time, LOL. I think it was George Lucas who said good films aren't finished, they're abandoned. Well, that goes for books too. I could rewrite and tweak, rewrite and tweak, but eventually, you just have to let them go.

Jess : How many books have you written? Which is your favorite and why?

Brandi : Let me think...including books that haven't been published and those published under another name, 15+. I’m sure there are others, but probably 15 since really getting serious about writing.

Jess : Do you have any other projects in the works? If so, can you share a little of your current work with us?

Brandi : I just contracted a new story for the Ellora's Cave for Men line. It's a smutty Quickie called "Game Night." Aside from that, I'm also working on the next book in the Restrained Fantasies series as well as a story for a multi-author series.

Jess : Do you prefer eBooks, paperbacks or hardcover? Any specific reason why?

Brandi : Ebooks almost exclusively. On my Kindle more precisely. I like that it reads to me when my eyes get too tired to see straight, LOL.

Jess : If someone wrote a biography about you, what do you think the title should be?

Brandi : "The Voices Made Her Do It."

Jess : What do you normally eat for breakfast, or do you skip it and get straight to work?

Brandi : Mostly a no-caf herbal “coffee” called Teeccino plus a spinach and banana smoothie. Mmm.

Jess : List 3 books you just recently read and would recommend?

Brandi : "Blind Heat" by Nara Malone
"Game Plan" by Karla Doyle
"Stone's Embrace" by Delilah Devlin

"His Forbidden Submissive" by Brandi Evans

My Book Summary : Vivian (Viv) has beaten cancer and now she plans to take control of her life. Therefore, she has her attorney give divorce papers to her two-timing arrogant asshole of a husband and plans on finding out if the love she feels for the one man who stood by her side throughout her ordeal, her "ex"-husband's brother Brock, are true or not. However, in doing so Viv will find out more than she thought she ever knew about Brock. Will Viv like what she finds out? Will Brock return her feelings? In addition, when she is taken into the wild side of Brock's life will she be willing to give up her newfound control to someone else?

My Book Review : 4 out of 5 stars!! Step into the world of BDSM with Viv and see how she manages to take her life from being unwillingly controlled to lovingly dominated! This novel was fun, intriguing, HOT, and sweet---one I didn't want to put down! I LOVED Brock!!!! He sounds so good natured and sweet with a wild side that cannot and will not be tamed!! Then throw Viv and his relationship into the mix and you have a unique love story that will put a smile on your face!

I recommend this novel to anyone who enjoys erotic romances, especially if they involve some BDSM!

- On a side note -
I hope Brandi will write stories for Stephen, Anne, and Steal since they were the major secondary players in this novel that really intrigued me to see where they were going!! =0)

Author's Novel Extras : 10 Fun Facts About Sex | Interview with a Dom

Book Teaser(s) :
“What the hell are you waiting for, Brock? An invitation? If so, consider yourself invited.”
He chuckled—but didn’t answer. Instead he ran his thumb between her folds. “You’re fucking sexy when you beg.”
His words made her smile. Of course he liked hearing that. He was such a guy. Maybe if she begged some more, got a little dirtier, he’d finally get the message and flippin’ take her already. ~ within Chapter 2
“Don’t beat yourself up, sweetie.” Anne draped an arm around Viv and hugged her close. “Your reaction isn’t exactly uncommon. I’m sure Brock will understand.”
“What if he doesn’t?”
“He will. As a group, we’re a particularly forgiving and understanding lot. Now come on...” Anne motioned a hand toward the table. “Let’s eat. You’re gonna need your strength before heading back to Brock’s because you are going back, aren’t you?”
Although she phrased her sentence like a question, it was clearly an order. A friendly order but an order nonetheless. ~ within Chapter 6

Book Excerpt :

He spun toward Viv’s voice. She still wore the same dress she had when she’d first walked back into his life, but now, her appearance had a different allure to it. She no longer looked sleek and stylish—she looked used and owned. Barefoot, her dress showing off wrinkles from being in a pile on the floor, her hair a wild mess from his hands, his bed, his pillows, she looked like a woman who had been well, well-loved. It’d be a hard-on-inducing sight if it wasn’t for the uncertainty scrunching her beautiful face.

He wanted to yank her into his arms and kiss her until that uncertainty evaporated. Wanted to throw her into his bed and stroke deep into her sweet body until she couldn’t think of anything else, but only once he came clean. He owed her nothing less.

“Yeah, I’m good.” He turned back to the desserts. Maybe after a sugar rush he’d be able to come up with the right words. “I was just wondering if I wanted to add some syrup to our ice cream. What do you think?”

She didn’t answer, but he knew she was still there. He’d heard no footsteps, nothing to indicate she’d moved in the slightest. “I think you need to tell me the truth. Why do you really want to slow things down? And don’t you dare think about lying to me.”

Christ. He wasn’t fucking ready for this conversation. He was still formulating his strategy. “Well, considering your upcoming divorce and the fact the man you’re leaving is my older brother, I just think it would be best—”

“Bullshit.” In a flash, she crossed the room then yanked on the sleeve of his t-shirt until they stood face-to-face. “You and I are fantastic together. You can’t honestly tell me you really want to pull the brakes on what we had…what we could have.”

No, he didn’t want to slow things down. “It’s...complicated, Viv,” he finally said.

“Then uncomplicate it.”

“It’s not that simple.”

“Bull. Shit.” She stepped into him until they were toe-to-toe.

The soft aroma of vanilla and sex teased his senses, and despite his good intentions, lust rocketed straight to his groin. His cock lengthened, hardened in a matter of nanoseconds. His hands fisted at his side and it took all his strength to keep from grabbing her and throwing her down on the kitchen table and pushing deep into her pussy until he created enough heat to bind reality and fantasy together.

Viv continued, whispering a line that threatened to completely and utterly do him in. “I’m gonna get the truth out of you, Brock, even if I have to chain myself to your side.”

“That’s a dangerous thing to say around me, sweetheart.”

Blog Tour - BOOKS FOR BUNNIES

Today I'm turning my blog over to Suzie Welker from The Bunny’s Review & Coral Russell from Alchemy of Scrawl, who are here to talk about "Books for Bunnies!!"

This a part of Goddess Fish Promotions' Blog Blast click here to check out all the blogs that are participating. [Blog Tour will run on August 8, 2012--TODAY--]

Books for Bunnies

Event Description :
Books for Bunnies is an event set up by the blogger over at The Bunny’s Review and coordinated with the help of blogger Alchemy of Scrawl.

These two ladies have worked tirelessly in getting authors to donate eBooks for the event. Currently there are over 100 eBooks that have been donated, along with over 30 print books. Some of the print books are even signed by the author’s themselves.

The event is to help raise money for the House Rabbit Society. The House Rabbit Society (or HRS) is a 501 non-profit organization to help raise awareness and to rescue rabbits from animal shelters. Below is a little about the background of the HRS.

House Rabbit Society Background :

House Rabbit Society is a national, nonprofit animal welfare organization based in Richmond, California. Our mission has two parts:
  • Through our fostering program, volunteers rescue abandoned rabbits and find permanent adoptive homes for them.

  • Through education, we seek to reduce the number of unwanted rabbits — and to improve bunnies' lives — by helping people better understand these often misunderstood companion animals.
In line with our mission, we are against the exploitation of rabbits.

Since HRS was founded in 1988, over 25,000 rabbits have been rescued through our foster homes across the United States. Many of these bunnies had run out of time at animal shelters and were scheduled for euthanasia; others had been deemed "unadoptable" because of age, health, or disposition. Because there is no time limit on our rescued rabbits, HRS foster parents are able to spend time getting to know each individual bunny and can then match him or her with an appropriate home. We neuter/spay all incoming rabbits, obtain any necessary veterinary care, and attend to their social needs.

In caring for so many diverse bunnies, our all-volunteer organization has learned a tremendous amount about their social, behavioral, and medical requirements. By sharing the collected information these rabbits have taught us, we are able to help other people improve their relationships with their rabbits. HRS provides educational materials to veterinarians and humane societies and helps individual rabbit people solve behavior and health problems, primarily through our web site, www.rabbit.org, and our quarterly publication, House Rabbit Journal.

Over the past 20 years, HRS has grown from 300 to more than 8,000 members, with local chapters and educators in over 30 states plus Canada, Italy, Hong Kong, Australia and Singapore. Our website, www.rabbit.org, is accessed over 100,000 times a day by people in dozens of countries around the world.

Giveaway / Donation Incentive!! :
We are asking people to donate money to the HRS at this link through Network for Good. The person that makes a donation will receive either an eBook or print book equal to the amount donated. There are books ranging in price from 99 cents to $27.00. There are several print copies of the books that have been autographed by the author.

The person that donates will receive an email thanking them for donating. That email needs to be forwarded to books4bunnys@bunnysreview.com. This will show the amount that has been donated. Please remember there is not any donation that is too small. Any amount will be greatly appreciated. The HRS will use the money to either help pay for vet bills or help in finding a forever home for the hundreds of bunnies in their care.

Please if possible take a moment to donate a couple of dollars to the HRS you never know what bunny’s life you might be saving.

Feasted On: Bagging a Greek God Series, Book 1

- This is an ARC book - Available Formats through Amazon.com: Kindle Edition - File Size: 346 KB | Expected Release Date: July 20, 2012 | Publisher: Entangled Publishing : Covet | Obtained: Entangled Publishing

"Tall, Dark, and Divine" [Bagging a Greek God Series, Book 1] by Jenna Bennett (aka Jennie Bentley)

My Book Summary : Even though it's been a long time since Eros' (Ross), the god of love, ex-wife left him for another man he's still dwelling on it. Therefore, Ross' friend and employee, Ariadne (Ari) the minor Cretan goddess of the labyrinth, tells him it's finally time to get out in the world again and get over his ex. Reluctantly Ross agrees to hang out at their friend's bar for the night but he has no intention to hook-up with anyone, let alone a mortal. However, no matter how much Ross would like to deny it Annie, the owner/baker of the dog bakery that is across the street from his matchmaking business, catches his wrapped interest. Especially in her HOT outfit he finds her wearing at the bar that same night.

Yet after a blunder of miscommunication, old worries, and a determined man/god who thinks he's always doing the right thing ... Ross and Annie's lives go through more trials then they would have expected in a very short timeframe. Will they be able to stick together through it all? Or will Ross end up pushing them apart after all??

My Book Review : 4 out of 5 stars!! This hilarious romantic comedy was one that I finished within a day and I still wish there was more read!! Annie is a sweet spitfire who is looking for love in all the wrong places. Eros is a very depressed god who doesn't know a good thing when it's within his reach until it's almost too late. Together they make an undeniably cute duo!!

I cannot wait to see where this series was headed since from all the secondary characters it could go anywhere!! My only wish was that there was a bigger bang at the end of this novel instead of how it just seemed to fizzle out. Yet I am happy with how Annie and Eros worked everything out for themselves though.

I recommend this novel and series to anyone who likes paranormal romances. Also, I recommend it to those who like new takes on what the Greek gods and goddesses are up too. =0)

Had she come out a minute earlier, he could have made sure the man with the umbrella—Harry Mitchell from the accounting firm down the block—offered to protect her from the rain. Once Harry got a good look at that T-shirt, chances were Eros wouldn’t even have to intervene. Now there was nothing he could do, at least not without exerting effort or possibly setting down his glass of wine... Neither of which held the slightest appeal.
But Harry must have reached the subway stop on the corner by now, so Annie Landon was on her own. And he had missed another opportunity to make a match. ~ within Chapter 1

"Black Gold" [Takhini Wolves Series, Book 1] by Vivian Arend

My Book Summary : Gemmita (Gem) has lived a sheltered life within her father's pack in Georgia. Therefore, as a way to spread her wings she decides to take a trip to Alaska so she can complete some research for her major by herself. However, her gold of taking control of her life becomes more difficult when she finds her mate...

Even though Shaun is apart of the Takhini Pack he makes a point to play by his own rules. Yet when he finds that Gem is his mate he's elated and finds he wants to become a better man for her. In doing so while they go on an adventure into the Alaskan wilderness for Gem's research, they'll also find what it really means to be mated to someone else. Will these two opposites be able to handle each other? Or will they find the true meaning of working together...

My Book Review : 3.5 out of 5 stars!! This is a fun and charming novel that keeps you on your toes!! For the main characters in this novel, Gem & Shaun, I find them very cute together and I loved how enthusiastic Gem was when finding out about everything that came new for her. Gem is a stubborn and tough "princess" who is used to getting her way. Shaun is a "lone wolf" who is used to breaking the rules but is very protective for those he considers friends, family, and apart of his pack. I liked them together. Yet I wasn't a fan of Gem's "independence routine." Because even though I could understand her freaking out at the beginning of Shaun and her relationship I feel that Gem used that line as her fall back for everything. After awhile of her saying that more then three times I kinda got sick of it. =0P

    Anyway ...

When I first picked up this novel, I was hoping for it to be like Vivian's Granite Lake Wolves Series, which I am a big fan of, but after reading "Black Gold," I find this series to be more dramatic and deals with more of the pack per book then the Granite Lake Wolves Series. It wasn't good or bad just different and took some time in getting used to.

With that being said, I did enjoy the fact that it gives the reader a broader idea as to how the Takhini pack works. In addition, I'm very curious as to where Evan and Caroline's relationship will go since I hope that they'll somehow find out that they are meant-to-be together but I have a feeling they aren't. =0/

I have high hope for this series!! I recommend this series to anyone who is a fan of Vivian's Granite Lake Wolves Series or for those who like paranormal romances!!

    - On a side note -
TJ, from "Wolf Tracks," makes an appearance in this novel!!

    Book Teaser(s) :
Oh my goodness. This couldn't be...could it?
She cleared her throat. Maybe she was overtired from the trip. But that shouldn't be enough to make her react as if she was in the midst of a sexual encounter.
    Was Evan her mate?
The notion terrified her. Not because she didn't expect a life partner to appear some day, but finding her mate right now would cause a lot of trouble. One more issue to deal with while she fought for independence. And an Alpha whose territory was a fifteen-hour flight away from home? Oh boy. Daddy would have kittens. ~ within Chapter 2
Life had alternated between incredible and stinky, based on whether he'd remembered to shut the hell up and let her have some control, or if he'd flipped back into his usual do as he pleased mode.
It was a lot more difficult than he had thought it would be, to make a radical change in his life and attitude. At times it seemed he had made progress. Others? He was scared there was no freaking was this relationship would work. It was like tossing his wolf into the kitchen and demanding the beast make a gourmet meal. The result wouldn't look pretty even if he tried his damnedest. ~ within Chapter 9
