"Texas Mail Order Bride" [Bachelors of Battle Creek Series, Book 1] by Linda Broday
Author's Book Description :“So Beautiful. You make it impossible to think.” He pulled her against him and found her mouth. “You don’t know how long I’ve waited to do this.”
When he let her up for air, she whispered as though she couldn’t trust her voice, “Is this another Texas custom?”
“Absolutely,” he growled. “Welcome to Texas.”
Rancher Cooper Thorne thinks his life is finally on an even keel–until Delta Dandridge steps off the stagecoach, claiming she’s his mail order bride. Brash and quick-witted, the meddling Southern Belle is everything Cooper thought he never wanted…and everything his heart is telling him he needs.
But Cooper swore long ago that he’d never marry, and he aims to keep his word…especially now that the demons from his past have returned to threaten everything–and everyone–he holds dear.
My Book Review : 4 out of 5 stars! Thrown together based on false promises, two lost souls find their lives turned upside-down, but is it all for the better? Sure, that is if they’re both willing to let their past and their secrets go for good.
With Delta & Cooper's bickering, their magnetic attraction to one another, and Cooper's "band of brothers," this novel reminded me of Ms. Connealy's "Swept Away." Not because of the plots, as they are pretty different---and I do recommend reading both novels---but because of their characters, as big-hearted Delta reminded me of Ruthy, leader Cooper reminded me of Luke and Jenny's husband situation reminded me of Glynna. While Ms. Broday's novel is different, noticing the similarities put a smile on my face.
Yet even though I liked seeing Cooper & Delta together, and watching them deal with their attraction, it was Delta herself and how she embraced the town she recently moved to, that made me fall for this novel. I liked seeing how Delta was able to make a new start for herself and how she went about to help the town in big and small ways wherever she could. It was very sweet. Then throw in Cooper's past and this novel turned into one action-packed western romantic thriller that you never knew where it would take you next.
I'm interested to read about Rand & Brett (Cooper's brothers) to see who will stop them from their bachelor ways.
I highly recommend this novel to those looking for a historical western romance that will keep you on your toes.
"My dear Mr. Thorne, you're absolutely determined to think the worst of me. I assure you, I try to never say anything I must retract later."
"Look, Miss Dandridge, why don't we start over? We'll be running into each other on occasion. No reason why our hackles should rise every time we cross paths."
"Hackles! I do declare. Your neck may have hackles, but I guarantee that mine does not."
"No, ma'am. I can certainly see that." He was hard-pressed to keep from grinning. "I simply meant we should try to get along."
"I suppose," she murmured slowly. "Just so we can be civil to each other. I don't want you to get the idea that I harbor any untoward ideas about love and marriage, though."
He crooked an eyebrow. "What does that mean?"
"Just because you don't like women---"
"Hey, wait a cotton-pinkin' minute. I never said I don't like women. I love 'em. For your information, I've kissed more than my share. Just don't intend to be married to one."
Delta put her hands on her hips. "Well, don't get any ideas about kissing me."
"You don't have to fret about that." He glared. "Is this your way of burying the hatchet?"
"No, it's yours. Hackles indeed. I'm not a dog." ~ within Chapter 6
"Now why is it that you can refer to my brother as Rand yet you call me Mr. Thorne?"
"You and I are still trying out this friendship thing."
"And?"
Delta couldn't help smiling. She liked keeping the man who seemed so sure of everything off-kilter. It was probably a place he hadn't been very often.
"Haven't decided. After all, you wanted to run the other way when we first met, if I recall."
"Like I said, I'm a donkey's rear end."
"Your words, Mr. Thorne, not mine."
"Can't you consider calling me Cooper? Mr. Thorne sounds like a doddering old fool with half his teeth missing."
"I'll give it some thought." ~ within Chapter 11

"Just a Cowboy and His Baby" [Spikes & Spurs Series, Book 6] by Carolyn Brown
Book Teaser:
Evil shot from his dark eyes. The air around him crackled when he raised his head and glared at her. He'd been bred, born, and raised for that night and she didn't have a chance against his wiles. He was bigger than she was and he knew it. He was meaner and he'd prove it.
Gemma O'Donnell didn't give a damn how big or how mean he was. She intended to be in control from the minute she mounted him. The message from the set of his head and unwavering stare said that she was an idiot not to shake in her cowgirl boots. She glared right back, her dark green eyes meeting his near black ones and locking through the metal bars separating them.
He dared.
She challenged. ~ within Chapter 1

Jasmine (Jas) & Sarge[from "Crashed Out" [MADE IN JERSEY Series, Book 1] by Tessa Bailey]: Jasmine might be seven years older than Sarge but that doesn't stop their chemistry from igniting and quickly bringing their relationship into something more than remembered friendship. ♥
Edwina (Ed) & Justin (Jus)[from "The Hero" [Hot Aussie Heroes Series, Book 2] by Amy Andrews]: Justin's relationship with Edwina is combustible from the very beginning; and as the novel progresses, it makes you want to root for them even more.
Madison & Scott[from "Madison's Song" by Christine Amsden]: It was hard not to feel that Scott and Madison were meant for one another, I strongly feel that this dynamic duo are a great pair.
Gracie & Jake[from "To Win Her Love" [Players Series, Book 1] by Mackenzie Crowne]: Gracie is a fun character who knows her mind and does anything she needs to protect her love ones. Jake is an “outlaw” who reforms in this novel and reading about him settling down was so sweet! Together they are unstoppable!
Sunny & Michael[from "Just the Way You Aren't" by Lynda Simmons]: They are an intriguing couple from their first real meeting at the masquerade to their playful banter with each other to their easy relationship around Sunny's daughter. It all held me spell bound, wanting to read more but also sad to see it end.
Eliza (Bessie) & William[from "Not Quite Darcy" by Terri Meeker]: They worked well together and it felt like as long as they had one another they could've taken on the world.
Ella & Patrick[from "Kiss the Earl" [Geek Girls Series, Book 3] by Gina Lamm]: If you are a fan of Mr. Darcy & Elizabeth Bennett then you will like Patrick & Ella. They both deal with getting over major amounts of pride as their feelings grow for each other.
Jaycee & Tyler[from "At Ease" by Olivia Brynn]: They are a great couple who’s chemistry off the charts. I have a good feeling about them being together.
Greta & Aedan[from "An Irish Heart" by Jackie Zack]: They were great counterparts to one another! I’m happy I could get to know them and read their story! ♥
Sarah & Mose[from "The Amish Widow's Secret" by Cheryl Williford]: I really liked how they became a united team before they even really knew one another. Mose and Sarah were a great couple!
Ginevieve (Gin) & Daniel (Dan)[from "The Dandelion Field" by Kathryn Springer]: Dan & Gin are wonderful counterpoints to each other....Together they are very sweet and I wish I could have read more about them.

Jillian (Jill) & Sawyer[from "The Trouble with Texas Cowboys" [Burnt Boot, Texas Series, Book 2] by Carolyn Brown]: I really liked how they seem to quickly grow their relationship into something where they can stick up for one another without question and, through it all, it makes them fall in love even when they are trying to avoid a relationships at all costs.
Heidi & Liam[from "Up In Flames" [Netherworld Series, Book 2] by Olivia Hutchinson]: From the first time they see each other you can't deny that they have a remarkable connection. The more they interact with one another the stronger their connection grows; it was intriguing to read about.
Rowan (Ro/Peach) & Adam[from "Mayhem" [Mayhem Series, Book 1] by Jamie Shaw]: Together they bond over French, music, and more creating an instant relationship that is sweetly hot. A relationship that was very enviable. ♥
Jezebel (Jessie/Lisbet) & Daniel[from "Not Always a Saint" [The Lost Lords Series, Book 7] by Mary Jo Putney]: They are a matched set. On paper, they were everything both didn’t want for in a partner. Yet, as they get to know one another, better they find that they are the perfect match!
Raye (Rachel) & Bobby (Robert)[from "In The Air Tonight" [Sisters of the Craft Series, Book 1] by Lori Handeland]: Raye is a captivating heroine while Bobby’s boundless protectiveness and slight insecurities make him one hero I wish I could know. Together these two create a superb pairing that I could not stop but want to read of more! ♥
Philippa (Pippa) & Lord Trent (James)[from "A Will and A Way" by Claudia Harbaugh]: I found Pippa & James’ banter fresh and entertaining while making me want them to get together from the beginning. ♥
Alexis (Lex/Lexus) & Noah[from "Paper or Plastic" by Vivi Barnes]: Together Noah and Lex are opposites that seem to balance one another out. They’re the definition of “living on different sides of the track” yet in some ways they help the other one stay grounded.
Eve (Evangeline/Evie), Kham (Pharaoh Khaman-Ra), Kai & Roan[from "Eve’s Rescue" [Coalition Mates Series, Book 3] by Sarah Marsh]: When you aren’t reading their intensely HOT sex scenes, you get to read an abundance of fun, flirty, and sweet scenes between the four of them! I could not get enough!
Isabella & Ashton[from "His Lion Blood" [Mystic Harbor Series, Book 4] by Scarlett Grove]: Their instant romance is enthralling in its intensity! They have such an instant attraction and connection (which is typical for the mate romances) that I couldn't help but like. ♥
Maia & Cole[from "Rocky Mountain Miracle" by Christine Feehan]: The igniting chemistry between Cole and Maia was heavy throughout their novel making it easy to root for the growing relationship between them.
Eva & Rudolph (Rudi)[from "Santa's Secret" by Serenity Woods]: The sparks between Eva and Rudi are hot and heavy from the very beginning, yet the way they handled their relationship during their time together that I loved more.
Casey & Tyler[from "The Hot Streak: A Baseball Romance" by Cecilia Tan]: I really enjoyed how both Casey & Tyler deal with the major conflict that comes between them, as it helped me like them both even more. Together they just seem like a great team.
Mia & Ryder[from "Mia and the Bad Boy" [Backstage Pass Series, Book 2] by Lisa Burstein]: Together they are a powerful duo who seem to help each other turn into who they want and are meant to be. I thoroughly enjoyed Ryder and Mia's banter; it livens up every scene and is very entertaining. ♥
Kat (Katherine/Katriona) & Prince (Edward)[from "The Ugly Stepsister" by Aya Ling]: They were a very forward-thinking fairytale couple that charmed me. I couldn't get enough of their relationship.
Portia (Po) & Beau (Beauregard)[from "A Time for Everything" by Mysti Parker]: Reading about their harsh banter turning into calm friendship that grows into a strong bond was quite extraordinary and beautiful. They made a great couple! In addition, I LOVED their epilogue.
Candy & Guy (Steele)[from "Baby Twins to Bind Them" by Carol Marinelli]: They livened each other up while broadening their own views about what they wanted out of life. Yet what really made me fall for their romance was how everything played out within the last few chapters, it's just so charming!!
Orwenna (Wen) & Huroth[from "Dragon Wife" [Dragon Clan Series, Book 1] by Diana Green]: I really liked how Orwenna (Wen) & Huroth fell in love. Especially I liked that Wen was able to hold onto her new scene of self and purpose throughout the time she was falling for Huroth and how he liked her even more for it.
Carina & King Marek[from "Caller of Light" by T. J. Shaw]: Their connection is shown as being all-consuming but in a way where they both benefit and strengthen each other. ♥
Tess & Forrest[from "Go Small or Go Home" [Toronto Collection, Book 2] by Heather Wardell]: Together Tess & Forrest are a bit of a heart wrenching pair. They made me want to root for them no matter what, yet because of Forrest past, it doesn’t always seem like it’ll be a happy ending for them. I thoroughly enjoyed their relationship.
Julia & Alistair (Michael)[from "Heart of Steel" by Elizabeth Einspanier]: Their novel is sort of setup in the "Beauty & the Beast" style, where you get to see both the good and bad sides of each character but root for them to be together in the end.
Phoenix & Riley[from "This Heart of Mine" [Whiskey Creek Series, Book 8] by Brenda Novak]: I couldn't get enough of Phoenix & Riley, didn't want their novel to end, as it was all I could've hoped for and more! Their story made me laugh, it made me tear up a lot, and most of all made me wish for a man like Riley too. ♥
Emma & Jay[from "A Wedding at the Orange Blossom Inn" [Amish Brides of Pinecraft Series, Book 3] by Shelley Shepard Gray]: Their relationship grows quickly in this novel but I love how it was all handled and the calming effect they have for one another. The love that they show for one another and their unique situation kept reminding me of the 1968 version of “Yours, Mine, and Ours,” even though there is a lot more children in the movie.
Grace & Oliver (Earl of Carlisle)[from "The Earl’s Defiant Wallflower" [Dukes of War Series, Book 1] by Erica Ridley]: They make quite a pair as they fumble through Society hoping to help one another out while hoping for the best. I think what I liked about them the most is their gracious hearts, and how they kept putting those they cared for first.
Jasmine (Princess), R. D., & Logan[from "Her Stepbrothers’ Demands" by Trinity Blacio]: Together this triad was one that captivated me in the way they go about joining and dealing with threats against them.
Gianna (Gia / Georgianna), Cris (Cristobal) & Cai (Mordecai)[from "The Witch’s Champions" by Honoria Ravena]: I would love to read more about this entertaining trio.
Caelen & Dare[from "Charm School After Dark: Lesson 1" [Charm School Series, Book 1] by Lynn Carmer]: I really liked how Caelen and Dare come to terms with their attraction and get together. Then to top it off with the way Caelen tries to find her balance with him and how Dare deals with her eccentricities, it made me want to root for their relationship even more.
