"Interaction with a Dragon" [Human Interaction Series, Book 4] by Cheyenne Meadows

Authors' Book Description : Alex is desperate. Her cupboards are bare, her bank account empty, and she’s days away from homelessness. Then, her luck changes in the form of a position as a personal assistant to the baddest, scariest Enforcer around—Cannibal. The man cloaked in mystery, who carries a huge sword, and has scowling down to an art.

Not ready to give up her first job opportunity in months, Alex sucks it up, determined to earn Cannibal’s respect in the process. Hard to do when he threatens to cut off her toes for a snack and she breaks one of his cardinal rules her first day. Yet, she senses something special in Cannibal.

She can’t ignore the powerful attraction as she finds herself playing the part of his girlfriend for his dragon brethren and standing with him as the only ones capable of destroying an evil wizard determined to end the world.

Deep feelings forged in crisis tend to be fleeting. Alex understands the odds, but knows one thing—Cannibal and her heart are both worth fighting for.

My Book Review : 5 out of 5 stars! Alex finally lands a job after desperately searching! Yet, since she's now working as a "gofer" for a "man" called Cannibal who is known for his strong personality and determined ways, is it really a good thing? Well, she needs the money and plans to stick with her new job no matter the risk. However, is she willing to risk her heart? Even if her feelings might not be returned?

From the witty banter between Alex & Cannibal (Byron) to reading about their growing relationship, it all helped me fall in love with this novel! I especially loved the scenes when they were at the Dragon Keep, mostly because they show off Cannibal's sweet side. In addition, I was relieved to learn that Ms. Meadows didn't stretch out their romance within its series, as she did between Shy & Meat. YAY! I really enjoyed how this novel and their love story wraps up, while leaving the storyline open enough for this series to continue if Ms. Meadows wanted to.

I HIGHLY recommend this novel and series to those who want a unique paranormal romance to read!

-- On a side note --
I would have loved to read a bit from Cannibal's POV, mostly to read him arguing with his dragon. Also, I'm curious as to how Cannibal & Alex's relationship will go from this point on. As even though they've mated their lifespans are still going to be different, right? It'll be interesting...

“What did you do this time to upset my mate?” So filled with challenge, this man’s tone definitely deterred anyone from arguing.
“Nothing.” The ogre didn’t back down an inch. His firm answer easily drew a line in the sand.
“Then why is she crying?”
“She’s got to pee and can’t find her feet.” The reply sound a bit droller and less furious. ~ within Chapter 1
“Your brother needs more clothes. Maybe you should give him an early birthday present or something.”
Cannibal arched an eyebrow. “Why do you say that?”
“Because he’s running around naked all the time. This afternoon, I stumbled into his room again. He was standing there in the nude. Just like last time, though this time he didn’t just climb from the shower. Either he has to wait for clothes to wash and dry or he’s a closet nudist.”
He rubbed his forehead and grumbled under his breath. I got the impression he was praying. For salvation from seeing his brother in the buff, for patience, for a better gopher, I wasn’t sure. ~ within Chapter 12

- This is an ARC book - Available Formats through Amazon.com: Kindle Edition - File Size: 958 KB | Expected Release Date: April 13, 2015 | Publisher: Secret Cravings Publishing | Obtained: Secret Cravings Publishing

"NiKoh’s Chosen: Family Matters" [The Chosen Series, Book 2] by Kenzie Michaels (aka Molly Daniels)

Authors' Book Description : Still mourning the tragic death of his beautiful mate, could another Chosen one already be waiting for NiKoh SiLah? To avoid what he’s not ready to accept, he throws himself into his work at Planet Security.

Leaving the Academy behind to follow her dream of working with animals, GiNae SoJae returns home. Preoccupied with work and not ready to take a mate, she’s horrified when her body enters Maturity. GiNae fights the changes occurring within her. But during nightly dreams she cannot control, an unknown man teaches her the secrets of her body.

Will NiKoh and GiNae succumb to the paths they think have been chosen for them or will they discover the true Chosen life that awaits them?

My Book Review : 4 out of 5 stars. Two people who are going through major life changes believe that fate is pushing them together, but is what they believe true?

Okay. I knew that this was part of a series when I picked it to read and I had never read "Heart’s Last Chance" (book 1 from this series) previously. Therefore, with nothing to base this novel off of before starting it, I will say I found myself confused by some of the secondary storylines as they tie into plots that happen throughout the series that I was not familiar with. Nevertheless, because I stuck with this novel, I know it deserves the four star rating I’m giving it since the ending pleasantly surprised me!! The twist that I was HOPING for HAPPENED!

Unintentionally, everyone that lives under NiKoh’s roof, which includes GiNae and her mother ViShe who is Nikoh’s housekeeper, are like family. Even when ViShe tries to stick to propriety, they all have lived at the same location for sixteen years so it’s hard not think of one another after the changes around them begin. In addition, I really liked OkVei (NiKoh’s son) and GiNae’s friendship. It gave this novel another dynamic viewpoint that you had to admire.

I recommend this novel to those who are fans of Ms. Michaels and/or this series!

Authors' Book Description : Quiet and obliging, John Bexley and Mary Fleming married to please their families. A month later, John was sent off on a two-year diplomatic mission. Now he's back, and they find that everything they thought they knew about each other is wrong. It's disconcerting, irritating and...somehow very exciting.

Reviews

...the perfect blend of interesting, emotionally complex and open-hearted protagonists...marvelous... Publishers Weekly starred review

...a touching, heart-warming story. RT Book Reviews 4 stars

Ashford's flawlessly written love story is a quietly compelling tale about what it takes to make a marriage really work. Booklist

An absorbing romance. For all collections. Library Journal

My Book Review : 3.5 out of 5 stars, at the urging of their Mothers’ two years ago, John and Mary married each other than John left for a two-year voyage to China for his job at the Foreign Office. Once John returns to England they find that their two years apart has changed them both and as they slowly come to terms with the new changes, they try to figure out how to work as a married couple once and for all. However, are all their personal changes for the better? In addition, with John trying to get advancements at work will they be able to help each other out or will their help turn into more personal blunders?

This is an intensely sweet novel about two supposedly similar individuals, who changed while they were apart, trying to make their marriage work as they navigate the difficulties of English society. I really liked how Mary was able to handle all the changes in her life without ending up being walked on by John or anyone else. Mary’s ability to draw, and what comes out of her drawings, is pretty amazing and makes the reader wish for that ability too. In addition, I liked John and Mary together! They are very sweet as a couple and I liked how John defended Mary, no matter the cost.

I recommend this novel to those looking for an easy flowing, historical romance that is a thrilling read too.

"Never give up?"
"Never!"

Feasted On: Mystic Wolves Series, Book 2

- This is an ARC book - Available Formats through Amazon.com: Kindle Edition - File Size: 890 KB | Expected Release Date: April 14, 2015 | Publisher: Secret Cravings Publishing | Obtained: Secret Cravings Publishing

"His Perfect Wolf" [Mystic Wolves Series, Book 2] by Elle Boon

Authors' Book Description : Niall Malik is alpha of the Mystic Wolves. His life revolved around protecting his pack and son. He planned to do this alone until finding an injured woman who stirred more than just his lust.

When Alaina Strop woke in the tattooed arms of a strange wolf shifter, all she could think of was getting closer. Having no memory was a small thing compared to the feelings she had for the growling man. Before she could give her mind and body to him, she needed to find out who she was, and be sure she didn’t belong to another. Though deep in her soul, she knew she was Nialls.

Danger came to Mystic as Alaina’s memory returned and her father came to claim her for another wolf. But Niall, the big bad alpha, had found his perfect wolf, and wasn’t about to let her go, no matter the cost.

My Book Review : 4.5 out of 5 stars!! Lately Niall has been thinking that he should find a new wife/mate for himself, someone who could be a good mother to his seven-year-old son too. However, he never expected to find another truemate after his wife died years ago, so when he comes across Alaina (a mysterious woman who lost her memory) he has hope for his future. Yet when people from Alaina’s past hunt her down, will Niall be ready to lay everything (his future and his pack) on the line for a woman he barely knows?

This fast-paced paranormal romance reels you in and keeps you entertained the whole way through! The intimacy between Niall and Alaina is magnetic, while for such a short novel its plot is very well thought out. I really liked it. Plus, this novel written in a way that if you haven’t read Accidentally Wolf (Book 1) you won’t feel left out.

I recommend this novel to those who are interested in a quick paranormal romance!

Disappointmentville: Billionaires and Babies Series & Kings of California Series, Book 16

"Triple the Fun" [Billionaires and Babies Series & Kings of California Series, Book 16] by Maureen Child (aka Ann Carberry, Kathleen Kane, & Sarah Hart)

Author's Book Description : Baby, baby…baby?! It's triplets from USA TODAY bestselling author Maureen Child!

He's a captain of industry, a brooding billionaire and—a daddy? When Connor King learns he has fathered triplets, he feels double-crossed. Now nothing will stand in the way of claiming his heirs, not even their alluring legal guardian, Dina Cortez.

With the babies' mother gone, Dina has vowed to protect Sage, Sam and Sadie. But who will protect Dina from her feelings for the dark and defiant Mr. King? Because once she and the children are moved into Connor's California seaside mansion, his stately bed is just a heartbeat away…

My Book Review : 2 out of 5 stars, three months ago Dina’s life completely changed when her sister and sister-in-law died in an unexpected accident leaving her the guardian of her precocious toddler nephews and niece. However, because of her not being able to afford to raise them on the salary she has she decides to get child support from the “sperm donor” (Connor) of the children, which ends up throwing another wrench in her plans when she finds that Connor wants to be a part of their lives no matter the cost. How much is she willing to give up or change about her life for the only family she has left?

From the very beginning, I was having a hard time getting over Jamie & Elena's lie about the kids, especially since Connor made it a stipulation about visitation rights for himself and they completely disregarded his wishes. Because of all of that, it made it hard to enjoy this novel, as I'd have like too. So much so, that by about 40% on I just skimmed through the rest of the novel, as I was curious as to how everything would end up between them and I wasn’t enamored with what was happening in the plot. I found that while I sympathized with Connor I didn’t like how he seemed to steamroll over everything to get his way and Dina is way too stubborn for her own good. Together while they might have worked as partners in bed and as parents to the kids, I never thought they had a “wonderful” romance between them more like it was forced on them through circumstance.

I can say that while I am not a fan of this novel, I thought it had potential and recommend it to those who are a fan of Ms. Child.

"Kiss the Earl" [Geek Girls Series, Book 3] by Gina Lamm (aka Regina Cole)

Authors' Book Description : A modern girl’s guide to seducing Mr. Darcy

When Ella Briley asked her lucky-in-love friends to set her up for an office party, she was expecting a blind date. Instead, she’s pulled through a magic mirror and into the past…straight into the arms of her very own Mr. Darcy.

Patrick Meadowfair, earl of Fairhaven, is too noble for his own good. To save a female friend from what is sure to be a loveless marriage, he’s agreed to whisk her off to wed the man she truly wants. But all goes awry when Patrick mistakes Ella for the would-be bride and kidnaps her instead.

Centuries away from everything she knows, Ella’s finally found a man who heats her blood and leaves her breathless. Too bad he’s such a perfect gentleman. Yet the reluctant rake may just find this modern girl far too tempting for even the noblest of men to resist…

My Book Review : 4 out of 5 stars! An old "witchy" housekeeper is at it again, this time by throwing Ella back into the 1800s. While there, she finds herself kidnapped by a "Mr. Darcy" type of Earl and thrown into one calamity after another. However, what will they do when their hearts get involved?

I have mixed feelings about this novel. While I have always enjoyed Pride & Prejudice along with Mr. Darcy, and agree that this novel deserves the 4 star rating I'm giving it, at times it felt like Ms. Lamm was laying it on a bit thick with the amount of troubles Ella & Patrick kept running into. In addition, towards the end I was ready to hit Patrick senseless myself because of how his "gentlemanly ways" were going to destroy him. In addition, I was surprised with how forgiving Ella was to Patrick's friend Amelia and Amelia's love interest, as I don't think I could've been that nice to them after everything they did.

Nevertheless, I enjoyed this novel for Ella's forthrightness, Patrick's protectiveness, and the growing relationship between them. If you are a fan of Mr. Darcy & Elizabeth Bennett then you will like Patrick & Ella. They both deal with getting over major amounts of pride as their feelings grow for each other. Patrick & Ella are a great match!

I recommend this novel to those who are fans of the series and/or if you are interested in a time travel romance!

Tossing the rest of her cards down in disgust, Ella shoved to her feet. "It would help if you'd take this game seriously, cat."
A low, rumbling purr was the only answer.
Ella crossed the bedroom to the window, happy to feel how much better her foot was able to painlessly bear her weight. It had been a few days since that weird little incident in the library, and like a big fat coward, Ella had stayed right here in this room, completely avoiding Patrick. She'd read the books Mrs. Templeton had brought her, played more games of solitaire than she cared to admit, and finally, out of desperation, decided to deal the cat in.
