Blog Tour - Feasted On: A Taste For a Mate by Carrie Ann Ryan | Guest Post, Review, & Giveaway

Today I'm turning my blog over to Carrie Ann Ryan and is talking about Why Shapeshifters make better Spouces/Significant Others!! Since I knew why I loved them I was curious as to an author's POV about them so .... check it out!!

ALSO -- Be sure to comment on this post to be able to sign up for this tour's GIVEAWAYs (listed below)!! [Blog Tour will run from February 27 - March 9, 2012]

I want a Werewolf Husband :

I was told to write about why werewolf spouses make better spouses and significant others and I’m so glad they asked! I totally want a werewolf husband. Particularly one of my Jamenson boys...or Val from Stacey Kennedy’s novels. Yum.

In most paranormals, including mine, the mating bond allows true trust and caring that can lead to love. They will always put their spouse first – and vice versa.

I want to have that warmth surrounding me and to be able to feel their soul and their love for me pulsating through the bond.

Werewolves are more animalistic and primal. They – the good guys anyway – have an inherent need to care for those they love. Plus their strong as hell and can kick anyone’s ass.

Oh and 99 times out of 100, they’re sexy as hell. Yum.

In "A Taste for a Mate," Jasper is the Beta of the Redwood Pack. His job is to care for the Pack’s needs and be his father’s and brother’s post to lean on in times of crisis. When he meets Willow, a human baker, he finds someone else he can care for – his mate.

But not everyone is happy out this turn of events and want to take what Jasper holds dear. But remember, Jasper is a werewolf. His love and protective instincts are riding on high and he’ll do anything to protect his new mate.

And in her heart, Willow knows she’ll do the same because she can’t bear to see him hurt.

That’s why I love werewolves. That’s why I want a werewolf husband. Now, I’m already married, so I may just have to change the hubby and I into werewolves, but that’s easy. Right?

Would you like a werewolf husband or wife? What do you think about having one as a spouse?

"A Taste for a Mate" [Redwood Pack Series, Book 2] by Carrie Ann Ryan

My Book Summary : For the past seven weeks, Jasper has been visiting Willow at her bakery, and fighting his attraction (the mating urge). However, in a sad twist of fate, the day he finally asks Willow out on a date, in hopes to bring her into his life, his pack, and to become his mate not long after, his pack's enemy the Central Pack kidnaps her for their own evil games. Thankfully, after he and his brothers rescue Willow she isn't frightened of them, but her life is irreversibly changed.

For the better?? That is the question that is hard to answer. Since when it comes to the relationship between Willow and Jasper .... as soon as it becomes really good for them something bad just seems to happen. So, will they be able to make it??

My Book Review : 4 out of 5 stars! This novel really made me start enjoying this series. From the background info on what makes up the Redwood Pack to Jasper and Willow's relationship (along with everything that brings them together as well as what happens to them) to finding out more about the Jamenson family. I just couldn't get enough of it and wished there was more to read about!! I really liked the dilemmas that happened to Willow and Jasper, not because they happened but because of what those dilemmas did for the plot.

However, even though this novel was about Willow and Jasper (whom I thought were great characters) it also sets up the background info about two of Jasper's brothers, Reed & Adam!! I cannot wait to read the next book, Reed's story, "Trinity Bound" which takes off where "A Taste for a Mate" leaves off!

I recommend this novel and series to anyone who enjoys reading good paranormal romances! Especially ones with sexy werewolves!!

Book Teaser(s) :
Teaser #1
Willow was learning the art of being a Pack member. Laughter rumbled in her chest at the irony.
“What’s so funny?” Reed, her new brother-in-law, current bodyguard, and Pack artist asked. With a paintbrush in his hand, another brush behind his ear, and numerous splotches of colors from his current project, he looked like the typical struggling artisan. Lanky, with the build of a swimmer, his body held power and strength to fight any attack, though, anyone who faced him might laugh at the red smear on the tip of his nose.
“Nothing, just thinking. Here, let me get that.” She reached for a clean towel behind him before rubbing his nose with it. They both collapsed in laughter as the red merely spread across his face and the towel.
“Great job, Wil. Before I may have looked like Rudolph; now I look like a clown bent on revenge.” Gasping for breath, Willow dampened the cloth with more water, but Reed held her wrist.
“Please stop before I fully resemble a tomato.” ~ within Chapter 9

Book Excerpt :

The man of Willow’s dreams walked out the door, but this time was coming back for her. She had a date with Jasper. Her heart pound in her ears and she felt like jumping up and down like a teenager. She bit her lip, holding back a squeal.

Jasper - the name suited him. Unique yet strong. Closing her eyes to savor the feel of his presence, she tried to recall every word he said, every move he made. The warmth from his fingertips against her cheek still tingled. She took a deep breath of his lingering scent and steadied herself before opening her eyes. An older couple stood staring at her with their lips pursed and brows furrowed. She must have been completely out of it not to hear the bell.

“I’m so sorry. I’m just having one of those days. What can I get for you? I have fresh cinnamon rolls for you if you would like.” She couldn’t wipe the grin off her face and helped them to begin her day.

Breakfast and lunch flew by. Cleaning the few tables inside her shop, she hummed to herself as she thought about the night to come. She had a date. The small mountain town they lived in had a decent selection of potential matches. But from what she observed, they were players or married. Sometimes both. Not until Jasper walked into her bakery did she noticed a man. And oh did she notice.

  10. LOL, I never thought about what it would be like to be married to a werewolf. I think there would be definite pluses. But aren't most men really werewolves? They are dogs after all, LOL. And dogs came from wolves.

  11. The bonus to being married to a wolf would be that they'd certainly be very protective. That would be very nice. :)

  14. Well, I'd have to say I'd like a werewolf for a husband...as long as he looked like Jack Nicholson's version of a werewolf! LOL He's my idea of a hot and sexy wolf!

If this book were to be made into a film, who do you see as playing the main characters?

    1. LOL Jack? Really?

Hmm... You know, I suck at deciding movie characters.

I'd like to the Henry Cavil for Jasper since he sort of looks like him.

And Summer Glau (from Firefly) for Willow. A Waif, but can kick ass.

  15. Hi, Carrie! I adore werewolf males *swoony sigh* At least those in the Redwolf pack ;) Strong, sexy, protective, sensitive, mate for life, to die for lovers, and they are not ashamed to cry! OMG!! My hubs is a hairy beast (it's all slid off his head onto his back, I swear, lol), but he could definitely learn some of the better qualities of these wolves. I think you need to write me into one of the books so I can stay there for my happily ever after, haha :D
Love you! Love your books! I think you are schnit, ya know? ;)

  21. I love the post, and totally agree that a wolf shifter would make a ideal mate, not having to worry about trusting your mate and knowing no matter what your needs would be paramount to him as his would be to you is a immense turn on. And as a married woman of soon to be 30years it's something I think we all want to be our mates singular focus , I loved the excerpts and will be getting the books

  22. Well...If my hubby had some of those more endearing were-qualities, that would be nice but I'm sort of a traditionalist. I believe marriage is between a human and a human! LOL.

Who doesn't love werewolves? I find them irresistible! Hot alpha males who are not afraid to give in to their primal instincts... Hmm I want me a were mate! Though they are strong physically, with strong personalities, they also have a softer side within. Who can resist that?

    Thank you for the opportunity!
