Idolizing In: Tales of the Underlight Series, Book 3

- This is an ARC book - Available Formats through Amazon.com: Kindle Edition - File Size: 428 KB; Audiobook - Unabridged | Expected Release Date: May 13, 2013 | Publisher: Carina Press | Obtained: NetGalley

"How Beauty Loved the Beast" [Tales of the Underlight Series, Book 3] by Jax Garren (aka Jennifer Hinson)

My Book Summary : Now that Hauk has been saved and back from his time healing in the hospital, Jolie and his relationship pick up and kick off even better then Hauk expected. Yet his biggest fear of exposing all of his wounds to anyone, especially Jolie, is about to be thrown down by any means necessary, even more so if he ever wants to make love to Jolie without a condom. Nevertheless, as their relationship ignites and blossoms into something wonderful the Order of Ananke steps up its own game with plans to take down Hauk, Jolie, and infiltrate the Underlight by using their own people against them. If only Hauk & Jolie can battle through it all long enough to stay together forever while keeping safe their friends and comrades...

My Book Review : 5 out of 5 stars, two friends and "soul mates" fight the biggest battle of their lives in order to win each other's heart, as well as, to defeat their enemy. This was an epic ending to a delightfully fun series! I love how strong willed and determined Jolie throughout this novel! Also, I just could NOT get enough of Jolie & Hauk they are the perfect "Beauty & the Beast" couple!!

It will be interesting to see how Ms. Garren will expand on this series once she switches to Book 4 making Brayden the hero and Ashley (oh, how I hope Ms. Garren makes her likeable somehow) the heroine. I can't wait!

I recommend this novel and series to anyone who likes new twists on the Disney Classics, even if they are a bit erotic. =0)

"You're not interrupting. I dropped my sunglasses and I'm trying to retrace my steps. But don't worry. I've been taking extra precautions." She gave a significant glance back at Hauk. "I hope you have, too. I imagine you'll have 'round-the-clock protection if you let a certain muscled beast with superpowers have his way."
Jolie rolled her eyes. "Yeah, yeah. He's offered. Let's look for your sunglasses."
Catrina stopped her with a hand on her shoulder. Violet eyes---Jolie was surprised her boss had bothered with her contacts this morning---took her in resolutely. "I hope you take that offer. Don't be stubborn about this, Jolie. Not after Cassie." Her hand moved to Jolie's cheek, patting it lightly. "I don't mean to sound like your mother, but you are one of my girls."
Jolie squeezed her hand. "Don't worry. 'Please hop into bed with a felon for the next few weeks' is, shockingly, not one of the things my mother ever said to me."
Catrina cackled in surprise. ~ within Chapter 11

"I have a younger brother. I like dogs and cats, and I once had a pet mouse named Clint Eastwood." He turned toward Susanna, grinning, his arms spread wide.

Feasted On: By His Royal Decree Series, Book 1

- This is an ARC book - Available Formats through Amazon.com: Paperback - Pages: 186; Kindle Edition - File Size: 269 KB | Expected Release Date: June 18, 2013 | Publisher: Harlequin Presents | Obtained: NetGalley

"One Night Heir" [By His Royal Decree Series, Book 1] by Lucy Monroe (aka L. C. Monroe)

My Book Summary : Maksim (Maks) is the Crown Prince of his country, which means he knows that it's his duty to produce an heir and make sure he can find a woman that he feels would be the perfect match for him along with who would be best for his country....

After dating Gillian for the past seven months he feels like she is who he wants to be his Queen and the mother of his children. That is until he finds out because of a case of childhood appendicitis Gillian has a very low chance of ever being able to conceive. Therefore, he decides that he needs to breakup with her even though he doesn't want to. Yet, his last night with Gillian doesn't go as he had planned when he spends it in her bed then is thrown out the next morning.

Things for both of them are miserable after the breakup. Yet when they both find out that their last night together created a miracle will they be able to get back together again or will Gillian find that she won't settle for anything less than love...

My Book Review : 4 out of 5 stars. Is one person falling in love within a relationship ever enough for the relationship to survive? Maks & Gillian put that question to the test...

I was delighted and frustrated in the fact that this novel was written to encompass such a short period of time in Maks & Gillian's relationship between their fallout and reunion. I felt this way not because of how the relationship is portrayed but because I wished, there was more of a longer ending then what was given. Also, the epilogue didn’t expand on what happened with them like I really would have liked it too.

Nevertheless, I found this novel to be endearing, sweet, and interesting in the way this couple chooses to stick together and find a way to make it work between them.

I recommend this novel to anyone who likes reading about unexpected pregnancy romances!

The door flew open to reveal Gillian glaring at him in bad temper. "How did you get into my building?"
He shrugged. The hacker had upset her. Telling her he had sublet an apartment on the floor below hers he had never stepped inside so he would have open access to her building would not make her happy, either.

"The smell of rosemary reminds me of you."
"Isn't that the way it works? Rosemary for remembrance?"
"It's the scent of your bath salts. Rosemary and mint. I like it."
He'd said so before and she'd stopped buying other fragrances for her bath. She didn't admit that now, though. "I like it, too," was all she said.
He nodded before gently lifting her and placing her with what could be mistaken for tender care into the tub.
"I don't need this kind of help," she protested. "I'm pregnant, not helpless."
"We have just made the most passionate love. I will see your comfort if I like."
"You're kind of bossy."
"You're very independent."
"If you wanted a leech, you shouldn't have dated me."
"I do not want a leech. A little clinging wouldn't hurt, though," he grumbled under his breath.
She couldn't believe her ears. ~ within Chapter 9

"Catch a Falling Star" by Beth K. Vogt

Okay, I apologize it must but the pregnancy brain going on but I can't seem to phrase this novel into my usual Book Summary so here is the Author's Book Description to give you a better understanding of what this book is about...

Author's Book Description : What does a girl do when life doesn’t go according to her plan? At thirty-six, Kendall Haynes has seen some of her dreams come true. She’s a family physician helping kids with severe allergies and asthma achieve more fulfilling lives—a childhood struggle she knows all too well. But are Kendall’s dreams of having it all—a career, a husband, children—nothing more than a childhood fantasy? God says He knows the plans He has for her—why can’t Kendall figure them out and be content with her life?

Griffin Walker prefers flying solo—both as an Air Force pilot and in his personal life. But a wrong choice and health problems pulled him out of the cockpit. His attempts to get out of “flying a desk” are complicated by his parents’ death—making Griffin the reluctant guardian of his sixteen-year-old brother, Ian. How did his life get so off course? Can he get his life back on track…or has there been a divine plan all along?

"Catch a Falling Star" reminds readers that romance isn’t just for twenty-somethings and that sometimes letting go of your “wish I may, wish I might” dreams is the only way to embrace everything God has waiting for you.

My Book Review : 3.5 out of 5 stars!! This inspirational heartwarming novel hooked me from the beginning with Kendall's dreams for her future to the budding romance she falls into! Kendall deals with a lot in this novel from her romantic life getting a boost to her career getting an unexpected hit from the sidelines. Yet she handles everything with such grace that you can't help but root for her, especially when it comes to her relationships with Griffin & Ian. It's all very sweet!

I recommend this novel to anyone who likes contemporary Christian romances!

Author's Book Interview(s) :

Book Teaser(s) :
As he tugged on his gloves and pulled the collar of his blue uniform jacket up around his neck, Griffin watched a red Jeep pass him on the highway, then ease over to the shoulder and back up. Offering a quick prayer of thanks that "real Jeeps never leave another Jeep stranded," Griffin stepped back out into the cold night air and moved toward the Good Samaritan.
The door to the Jeep CJ5 opened and a diminutive form bundled in a long coat stepped onto the silver nerf bar and then onto the gravel shoulder. A woman---but still a Jeep person. When Griffin recognized Dr. Kendall Haynes in the glare of the passing headlights, he almost turned around, sprinted back to his Jeep, climbed inside, and locked the door.
"Hi. I'm Kendall. Can I---you!"
The look on the woman's face was so comical---her mouth forming a perfect O, her eyes widening as if Griffin pulled a gun on her---that Griffin burst out laughing.
"Good evening, Dr. Haynes."
"Colonel Walker." ~ within Chapter 5

- This is an ARC book - Available Formats through Amazon.com: Hardcover - Pages: 325; Kindle Edition - File Size: 464 KB | Expected Release Date: June 4, 2013 | Publisher: Houghton Mifflin Books for Children | Obtained: NetGalley

"The Testing" [The Testing Trilogy, Book 1] by Joelle Charbonneau

My Book Summary : All of her life Malencia (Cia) wanted to go to University like her father did. However, being the youngest in her graduating class (at sixteen-years-old) and because none of her older brothers were ever chosen once they graduated it's highly unlikely that she will be invited at all. That is until the day after her graduation she is accepted!

Now her life is changing by the hour...
... she gets accepted then told that she needs to leave the next morning -- knowing that she may never see her family again
... she's told that other than her clothes she can only bring with her two additional personal items with her
... the night that she gets accepted her father informs her to be on guard no matter what because he doesn't remember his time during "the testing" only that he suffers from nightmares of his roommate getting blown up (which may or may not be real)

Once she leaves for the testing she immediately notices that she's being watched at all times because of the hidden cameras she locates along the way and in her dorm room. The things she learns from the testing make her believe in her father's fears and question everything she sees. And even though her dad told her not to trust anyone, Cia can't help but be thankful for confiding in her friend Tomas, which makes their relationship become that much closer.

However, as she passes each test things at the testing becomes trickier and trickier. Will she be able to put the knowledge she's learned and to good use or will her trust, knowledge, and kind heart get her into more trouble then she wants?

My Book Review : 4 out of 5 stars, this unique dystopian society takes a girl on the ride of her life while she learns that everything she may have wanted for her future isn't what she originally thought it would be...

Okay, I'll begin this review by saying I have never nor do I ever think I will read the "The Hunger Games" by Suzanne Collins not that I haven't heard great reviews of it, I have, it's just the description has never interested me. Yet, I have watched The Hunger Games movie so I can understand a bit why so many people seem to be comparing "The Testing" to "The Hunger Games" because of the basic setup, girl gets accepted to advance her life by getting into a testing that if she passes she can get herself to go to University. Nevertheless, after a few chapters into "The Testing" the comparison stopped for me while I was thrown into an intense suspenseful novel I could not get enough of.

I thoroughly was swept away throughout this girl power novel! I loved Cia and I hope her feelings for Tomas won't get her into trouble in book 2! Cia is the kind of girl that tries to help everyone she meets (until they turn on her) in some way or another, while being smart enough to "beat the system" if need be. Yet, as the novel goes on Cia finds that even "beating the system" can become harder and harder especially when knowing that everything she is sure to learn about her testing and the administrators holding them will go away if she passes when they take her memories away, unless she finds a way to beat them from doing that too...

I recommend this novel to anyone who enjoys girl empowerment books that have a little romance throughout while she fights to protect herself, her friends, and her family.

"So do I." He laces his fingers through mine as we trek uphill. "You're smart. You're strong. I have every faith you'll pass whatever test they give you. Just don't let the other candidates psych you out. Some of the kids from my colony were vicious. They'd do anything to be number one."
"Like what?" Staying up all night to study was common in my class. I'd done it a few times myself.
"Poison was a favorite tactic of a couple of the girls in my class."
I stop walking. "Poison?"
"Not enough to kill. Just enough to make someone too sick to sit for a test. By my final year, I was careful to eat only what I brought with me to school."
"Were they punished?"
My father gives a sad smile. "They were smart enough not to get caught. But even if they had been, I doubt they would have gotten more than a reprimand. It's hard to punish kids for trying to pull their family out of poverty." ~ within Chapter 4

Helpless. She felt utterly helpless and vulnerable in this crazy position, and it should have had her screaming to get out. In the past it would have. But here in the privacy of this club she felt safer than she had in a long time. There were rules here, and security checks, and the people who came to Secrets would abide by those rules, however unusual or kinky their needs.

She could trust Anteros.

She knew it in her heart, and it gave her the courage to relax into the moment. "If Kade were out there, watching, I wonder if he'd want me right now."

Anteros laughed, a quiet chuckle that flowed over her skin and left goose bumps as effectively as that feather would, if only he would lean forward and touch its delicate end to her quivering flesh. "Look over there, my girl." He gestured toward the doorway and she gasped at the sight of the handle turning.

"No, I don't want anyone else to see—Kade! Um. You're…Kade." She must sound like a half-wit, repeating his name over and over, but she couldn't comprehend that the subject of her imaginings was actually here in the room with them, right at the instant when her fanny was laid out like a Christmas turkey on a plate.

Sweat broke out on her forehead as her whole body flushed dark and she began to struggle against the bindings. "Kade, no, don't stare at me! Anteros, please. Let me—"

"Shh." Her dark-skinned companion laid a gentle hand on her ankle. "He is not repulsed. Look at him."

She couldn't. It was impossible to meet Kade's gaze. What would he think to see her trussed up like this? She stared instead at the window, biting her lip and willing herself not to cry. But then he stepped in front of her and his swollen penis was directly in her line of vision. It poked out of the gap in his trousers in a manner that was clearly far from revulsion.

"Do what he says, Ellie. Look at me." His voice was familiar and gentle, yet the fingers that slipped under her chin and forced her gaze upwards were firm and uncompromising. When she finally looked into his eyes she read the truth in their brilliant depths. Not hazel right now. Green. Like the August birthstone, peridot.
