"Slippery When Wet" by Kimberly Raye
My Book Summary : Jaycee and Rory grew up on the racetrack together and over the years, they have grown apart all because of misunderstandings and family commitments. Now fifteen years later and six months after Jaycee's father has died, she is dealing with coming to terms with an older sister she never knew about, and with a sponsor who isn't happy with her image. While lately, Rory is getting setup for a major racing season, starting with winning the first race at Daytona. However, after he gets his first glimpse of Jaycee's "new look" old feelings for her come roaring back to the surface. Determined that she is doing this to throw off Rory's game, he is determined to beat Jaycee at her own game by pursuing her to get her out of his system, hoping when he does things can go back to normal. Little does he know that even though moving ahead on the racetrack would be great for Jaycee, she has other issues to deal with like her only sponsor dropping her if she gets a physical and emotional makeover so she can "promote them better." Nevertheless, when they start being in closer proximity to each other then they have in years ..... will they really want to walk away from each other after they get their fill of one another??
My Book Review : 4.5 out of 5 stars!! Even though I'm not really a NASCAR fan .... I just cannot seem to get enough of the stories on the fictional drivers and their crews ... and this one has just made it on my top list for these type of novels!! Jaycee is a young woman who is still growing into her adult/womanhood and you get to see how she develops into the woman she wants to be instead of who everyone keeps tell her she is or needs to be. Plus ... you have the added bonus of a HOT romance between Rory and Jaycee ... and they both deal with finding out who they really are and who they want to be in the future. Very intriguing!
Book Teaser(s) :
"Of course. But remember, she didn't have her own personal arsenal of experts to get her ready this morning. She had to do it herself, so naturally she's having an adjustment period."
"How much of an adjustment?"
"She's a NASCAR driver, not Max Factor."
"It's a little mascara and some lipstick. How hard can it be?"
So sayeth the typical man. ~ within Chapter 12
