"The Sheikh's American Daughter" by Kate Goldman

Author's Book Description : Olivia is a normal twenty-three-year-old girl from Atlanta. Her life dramatically changes when her mother dies and leaves a will stating that Olivia’s father is alive and she should go find him in Lebanon. When she arrives in Lebanon, she’s surprised to find out that her father is a wealthy sheikh. It angers her to see him living such a good life, and yet she and her mother struggled to make ends meet. Before she can return to the United States, she gets entangled in a crazy situation when she meets the green-eyed, impossibly handsome, tall and muscular Sheikh Joseph Boutros. He comes to her father’s house to choose a bride among his daughters but decides that he wants to marry Olivia instead. Can Olivia unravel the mystery of her birth and fight her emerging feelings for a man who doesn’t take “no” for an answer?

My Book Review : 3.5 out of 5 stars! Not long after her mother passed away Olivia learns, from her mother's will, that her birth father is alive and from Lebanon. So, because of the encouragement in the will to meet her father, Olivia flies there and not only meets her father but learns that she is really the illegitimate daughter of a Sheikh. She stays with her "new family" to get to know her father more but while she's there she captures the interest of a would-be handsome suitor who won't take no for an answer. Will he be able to win her over before it's all too late?

This quirky novel won me over wholeheartedly because of Olivia. Though she didn't know she was "royalty," she ruled this novel and made sure she stuck to her own code of ethics. Then you throw in Joseph's determination and charm ... and you get a reader who reads the novel in three and a half hours. 😆

I enjoyed the push-and-pull relationship that Olivia has with Joseph. I liked how he won her over even when she never really gave in. I was charmed.

The only way I could have liked this more was if the editing was a little better laid out or the sentence structure didn't seem to repeat itself. In addition, though I really enjoy its ending I wished it was either Olivia or Joseph who came up with how their future was going to go instead of his mother as it felt a bit too "wrapped up" for me.

Nevertheless, I recommend this novel to those looking for an amusing contemporary romance!!

Book Teaser(s) :
"Thanks for the lift," she said as she opened the door.
"No need to thank me. As your man, that's the least I could do," Joseph replied. Olivia's eyes opened wide. He had just referred to himself as her man. He had sounded so sexy when he said it. Olivia felt butterflies in her stomach.
"You are not my man," she said to him. "And I am certainly not your woman!"
Joseph smiled at her. He leaned towards her. This time Olivia quickly moved backwards. She moved too quickly and with so much force, she fell out of the car. She let out a squeak as she fell out. She landed on her bottom.
Olivia could not believe that she had just fallen out of the car like that. She had tried to dodge his kiss and ended up on her bottom. Joseph jerked his head forward and looked a her. "Are you okay?" he asked her. Olivia burst into laughter. She could not help but laugh at herself. Joseph raised his eyebrows.
"You find this amusing?" he asked her. Olivia laughed for a few more seconds before she cleared her throat and tried to compose herself.
"I am surprised that you don't," she replied. ~ within Chapter 14
"The pair of you are so odd but adorable," she said with her hand on her heart. ~ within Chapter 27
