"Love Finds You in Glacier Bay, Alaska" [Love Finds You Series, Book 3] by Tricia Goyer & Ocieanna Fleiss

My Book Summary : A little over two years ago, Ginny ran away from her fiancé, Brett, because she was too scared of letting him into her heart fully and because she wanted to chase her dreams of being a famous singer.

Now all her big dreams have come true but she is still not content with the way her life is. Therefore, instead of signing her most recent record contract she decides on visiting Brett in Glacier Bay, Alaska hoping that he'll be able to get her on the right track for her life. However, once she sees Brett again, gets involved with the town, takes care of his feisty Grandma, and reads some revealing love story letters leaving Glacier Bay might be the last thing on her mind...

My Book Review : 4.5 out of 5 stars, this is a tender novel about a woman trying to overcome her past while coming to terms with what and who she wants for her future. I was enraptured in this novel's double dose of love! Ellie & Clay's sweet and thrilling tale made a perfect backdrop to Ginny trying to overcome the hurt and heartache that she had become accustomed too. In addition, I thoroughly enjoyed the secondary characters throughout this novel from the mischievous Grandma Ethel to Ellie's playfully joyful Grandfather they were all quite fun to read about!

I recommend this novel to anyone who likes historical & contemporary romances!!

Dear Mr. Barnett,
I'm sorry. I fibbed when I wrote you. I mean the letter was a big fib, but I didn't fib that Papa needs a wife and I like the pretty one. But I was wrong to break the commandment and I'm sorry.

P.S. My dad made me write this. I'm not that sorry because I like Miss Ellie.

"A Merry Little Christmas" by Anita Higman

My Book Summary : Set in 1961 -- All her life Franny has wanted to be a musician but since she doesn't have, the music ability she has wants to live in the city to become a radio DJ. All she needs to do is sell her family's farm.

One day Charlie (a man from a rich family who is trying to prove himself) shows up at the farm wanting to buy it from her. However, since Charlie is more of a city boy then a farmer they came to an agreement where Franny stays onto teach him everything she can for three weeks then she'll move to the city. During their time together they become very close but when the time comes for Franny to leave they still part ways.

That is until both of their dreams end up with complications making their paths cross again, making them become even closer. Over their time together will they be able to accomplish their personal and shared goals that God has laid out for them or will other people end up getting in their way?

My Book Review : 4 out of 5 stars, this is a sweet novel about accomplishing dreams, staying true to yourself, and believing that good things will happen to those who put their faith in God. Also, it tells you that when you find love you need to try to hang onto it and nourish it.

I loved getting to know Charlie & Franny. Especially getting to read about Charlie's charming ways and seeing how forthright Franny is in her beliefs. They made a great pair!

My only complaint was how quickly everything seemed to wrap up in the end when it came to Charlie's father. I say this because his father seemed to be more willing change his mind within such a short time span (for the book) then what I would say was believable. Nevertheless, I did like the ending of this novel and how the plot came together for Franny & Charlie; it was very idealistic and enchanting.

I recommend this novel to anyone to enjoy Christian romances!

Author's Novel Extras : Book Club Discussion Questions

Author's Series Interview(s) :

Book Teaser(s) :
"You sure I can birth pigs? I can't even sit down."
"You'll be great." Franny took a big forkful of eggs. "The babies usually come all by themselves, but sometimes they need a little help. So we're there in case Mom needs us."
Charlie sat so close to Franny that he wished he'd showered. Hopefully he'd have plenty of time later in the morning. Farmers surely took coffee breaks. ~ within Chapter 6
She took in a deep breath. Memories of her youth wafted around her like a sweet breeze. "As a kid, I thought this view was paradise."
"And now?"
"Still paradise." Without thinking, she started to hum "White Christmas." She chuckled. "Sorry...habit of mine. Do you hum too?"
"No, but I've been caught whistling from time to time. Some women don't like it. They think its juvenile or old-fashioned or something. So I don't do it much anymore."
Well, I don't think it's juvenile or old-fashioned. "The farm is a great place to whistle." ~ within Chapter 28

"Enjoy the Ride!" by Susan May Warren

We sit poised on the top of a cliff, a near drop off before us that falls to a rushing river. In the middle, a bridge of snow and ice hints at our destination. My husband guns the snowmobile engine. “Ready?”

Ready? For a face plant into a tree, maybe reconstructive surgery? To feel my stomach ripped from my body as we plummet down the mountain? Let’s do it!

We live on five acres of woods in northern Minnesota that butts up to a national forest. Hence, our backyard is about a hundred thousand acres. Aside from harboring deer, lynx, fox, cougar and bear, it also makes excellent snowmobile terrain. And not long ago, Mrs. Claus gave her Santa a snowmobile for two.

I love snowmobiling. Flying over the snow, catching air over drifts. I love to drive, to be at the helm of the beast as I weave around trees and over hill and dale, my husband sitting behind me. I also love riding behind my husband as he drives, feeling those powerful arms as he’s muscling the snowmobile into the wilds. We follow unknown trails, driven by a Magellan spirit, hoping that we have enough gas to get us back to civilization. I love hanging on, simply trusting him, knowing that wherever he’s taking me, he’s going first.

But there are times, when I see where he’s taking me, and I just have to bury my head in his back. Like straight down a cliff.

However, my heart cheers, despite the terror as we gun it down the hill, over the river, up the opposite side. And, if we hadn’t let ourselves go, we would have never discovered the beauty of a winter river, a hidden jewel buried deep in the forest. Nor the exhilaration of facing the challenge together.

Further on, we find an enchanted forest of towering white pine. Catch a view of Lake Superior, and discover an old cabin in the woods.

It occurs to me that snowmobiling is much like my spiritual life. Occasionally, I drive, and it’s me setting our course, weaving through the trees, getting us hopelessly lost. But when God takes the “wheel” and I hang on, trusting Him for the speed and destination, I see the scenery. I trust him to keep me safe. I trust him to bring me home, where there is an eternal supply of hot chocolate.

As Christmas season becomes more hectic, what if I let God drive? Maybe everything doesn’t have to be perfect, and maybe I don’t have to control every tradition, every holiday nuance. What if I just held on for the ride?

I’ll bet I’ll still get there, and I might even enjoy the scenery along the way.

How have you let go, and “enjoyed” the scenery of this hectic, exhilarating Christmas season?

Merry Christmas!
