"Caged Magic" [Wing Slayer Hunters Series, Book 5] by Jennifer Lyon (aka Jennifer Apodaca)
Author's Book Description : Risa Faden is a witch whose ultra-powerful shield magic is slowly breaking her mind. But when her beloved goddaughter is snatched by a demon, she’ll risk anything to rescue the baby—including lying to the handsome, intriguing stranger who has the power to help her keep her sanity, save the child…and steal her heart.
Linc Dillinger is a Wing Slayer Hunter whose sexy, rich, bad-boy charm hides a treacherous betrayal that left him emotionally scarred. As a result he risks his life to protect innocents, but is incapable of love—until he meets a beautiful witch who can save his cursed soul. Risa’s fierce courage and loyalty reaches past his barriers and he begins to believe she has the magic to free his caged heart.
But Risa’s lie explodes into dark danger that forces Linc into a hellish high-stakes gamble: He must either win the witch he loves and her godchild…or endure a loss that will destroy them all.
My Book Review : 4 out of 5 stars! Follow Linc as he finds his mate/soul-mirror during the most unlikely of times. And fate makes it clear that, no matter what he thought originally, he had better follow fate’s plans for him or everything he dreamed of will be lost for good.
My God … what a RUSH! This intensely written novel/series takes the angels vs demons theme and ramps it up a notch, where nothing is black and white so anything can happen. In addition, quite a lot does happen in this uniquely plotted novel that reads like a stand-alone but integrates itself just enough to give you an idea as to how the other novels in the series have previously turned out and/or are going to turn out.
Linc (Lincoln) with his Falcon and Risa are one couple who I was rooting for from the beginning! I loved how loyal Risa was and her relationship with her “daughter.” While Linc’s intensity enthralled and how he turned his life around yet found that even though Risa didn’t look like the type of woman he usually went for she was the perfect half/soul-mirror for him. Together they steamed up the pages of this novel and kept me wanting to read even more about their growing relationship. They were parallels in numerous ways and it just worked for this novel. I was envious and smitten by what they shared together.
I guess the only real thing I had an issue with was how the ending just seemed to cut off. I wish there was more or at least a pleasing epilogue so give you a sweet/sexy update on Linc & Risa. Therefore, I am hoping that, like how this novel gave major updates for this series’ other main characters, in “Primal Magic” (Book 6) we’ll get to read more about Risa & Linc too. Also, with the way Linc & Risa’s plot goes in this novel, I had hoped/expected that Nola wouldn’t have to leave Risa, even though I know what the Ancestors said, I had just wished for more.
Nevertheless, I was so riveted with this novel that I am now very curious to read the other novels in this series. I HIGHLY recommend this novel to those looking for an intense good vs evil paranormal romance!

Book Teaser(s) :
"What are you doing?"
"Trying to let go of you." He wanted to tug her up into his arms and taste her. The need for sex continually ground into him, an unrelenting pressure on his balls that orgasms relieved for five freaking minutes, then it began all over again. A constant need. Sex and bloodlust.
Risa could end all that, but at what cost? She was already getting beneath his skin. Touching places he hadn't allowed and woman to reach.
"Would it help if I kicked you in the balls?"
He blinked, then laughed at the unexpected comment. Damn, she wasn't like the other women he'd dated. Not even close. "No ball kicking."
"Are you always this much of a buzzkill?"
"Absolutely, when it comes to my balls."
"Then I suggest you let go of my hand and leave. Because I'm in a ball-kicking mood."
Amused, he asked, "Do you always threaten the people who save your life?"
"No, just you."
Whoa. Her full lips curved into pure wickedness, flashing straight white teeth. ~ within Chapter 4
"So you want Hillary, a former educator and hardass as her grandmother, and Baron, who runs an outlaw motorcycle club and illegal prostitution ring, as her grandfather?"
"Yes."
Damn, that was one lucky baby. ~ within Chapter 26
