"Forged" [The World of Nightwalkers Series, Book 4] by Jacquelyn Frank (aka Jax)

Author's Book Description : From New York Times bestselling author Jacquelyn Frank comes a seductive new paranormal romance set in the World of the Nightwalkers, as a battle-scarred bodyguard and a sensitive beauty risk their lives—and their hearts—in the face of evil.

When Katrina Haynes discovers a large man lying wounded in the snow, she fears he is at death’s door. But as Kat tends to his injuries, she quickly realizes that they’re the least of her worries. With an irresistible Scottish brogue and a strange ability to harden his chiseled body like a statue, the stranger awakens a desire she is unable to resist—and a fascination about the intriguing world he exists in.

As a proud Gargoyle, Ahnvil must safeguard the Nightwalker to whom he’s sworn fealty. But as this bewitching woman nurses him back to health, arousing an almost uncontrollable hunger within him, he is possessed with the fierce impulse to protect her as well. And he will have to shield her—for by coming to his rescue, Kat has placed herself in the middle of a supernatural war . . . and exposed herself to dark, powerful magic. As human and Gargoyle forge an unbreakable bond, Kat will discover that despite his intimidating strength and size, one thing Ahnvil does not possess is a heart of stone.

My Book Review : 4.5 out of 5 stars!! This series keeps getting better and better! Now you learn about Kat and Ahnvil, a supposed mortal finds herself thrust into a unique and terrifying world when she finds and helps a hurting gargoyle on her property. Together they are unstoppable, even when their differences seem to try keeping them apart. I enjoyed their romance and how they protected each other through everything that was thrown at them. They are a magnetic pair!

It makes me excited to see where this series will go and who the new "person" we will be meeting and "watching" fall in love with next!

I recommend this novel and series to anyone who's a fan of Ms. Frank and/or those who like paranormal romances!!

She came back outside and grabbed the other shutter, determine to power it closed on her own, delighted when it obeyed only to look up and spy his hand on the shutter above her head. Resisting the urge to stamp her foot and pout, she turned on him.
"Get back inside! It's too cold out here for you!" She eyed his naked body with purpose. Damn it, the man should at least have the decency to ... umm ... shrink away from the cold like a normal man would. ~ within Chapter 6
Everyone looked at each other.
"Name them."
"What? Why?"
"Just do it," Ram asked in a pained tone.
"Fine fine. Crab-ass Ram. Sweet Docia. Jackson, Marissa, Max, Leo. Ihron. Hey handsome." She gave him an exaggerated batting of her lashes. "Girl I don't know. Ahnvil. By the way, I am so mad at you. Made the Grade: Three Worlds Series, Book 1

Format: Paperback | Pages: 320 | Release Date: March 2011 | Publisher: Ballantine Books | Obtained: Friends of the Pasquotank-Camden Library - Fall Book Sale

"Seduce Me in Dreams" [Three Worlds Series, Book 1] by Jacquelyn Frank (aka Jax)

My Book Summary : Ravenna (Rave) has been visiting Bronse's dreams for a while now, trying to warn him of impending trouble coming his way as well as to learn more about him. They both don't understand the dreams, why or how they are able to talk to each other, but they are drawn to each other more because of the dreams then they would ever realize.

Therefore, when Rave learns of her own kidnapping she turns to Bronse in hopes that he can be her (and her younger brother) savior. Just hopefully, Bronse won't come too late....

My Book Review : 3 out of 5 stars, two strong leaders come together with plans of protecting themselves from a plot on their heads and to save those in their groups. It is an intriguing novel set around three unique worlds. However, Bronse and Rave weren't as great of characters as I wanted them to be. Their chemistry was great in the beginning but by the middle, their indecision about their attraction to each other made it so I couldn't like them, as I wanted too. Plus, it didn't help that Rave's younger brother, Kith, was soo annoying (even the characters thought so)! My favorite character was Lasher (Bronse's second in command and best friend).

I recommend this novel to those who are fans of Ms. Frank and who like sci-fi romances!

- On a side note -
Well, I didn't find this novel as "tasty" as I had hoped. -- Click here to find out why I would say that. --

"I'm sorry," Bronse murmured after a moment, blinking and refocusing his disbelieving attention. "Could you repeat the question?"
Unperturbed, Lasher did so, grinning the entire time. He knew full well that Bronse had heard him and comprehended. "I asked you what you were thinking."
Bronse laughed suddenly, half with humor, half with that same disbelief. "I am suddenly having a flashback to my marriage. Liely asked me that question a hundred times a night when I was off-mission. Do I have to worry that we've been on-mission together too long?"
Lasher responded by throwing a bread roll at Bronse's head. ~ within Chapter 2
"What the hell is going on around here? I want to know just exactly what I did to deserve this. There must be something. Maybe some information I have that I don't realize I have."
"I think we'd better find out. Fast would be nice. I'd hate to think I'd be afraid to get laid until we do." Lasher smirked at Bronse.
"You know, I'm so glad my impeding homicide is such a source of humor for you," Bronse said. ~ within Chapter 8

Idolizing In: The World of Nightwalkers Series, Book 1

- This is an ARC book - Available Formats through Amazon.com: Paperback - Pages: 352; Kindle Edition - File Size: 1958 KB; Audiobook - Unabridged | Expected Release Date: October 30, 2012 | Publisher: Ballantine Books | Obtained: NetGalley

"Forbidden" [The World of Nightwalkers Series, Book 1] by Jacquelyn Frank

My Book Summary : Ram/Vincent was told that his King and Queen would be coming back soon. Therefore, when he hears about Docia--the miracle "Bridge Girl" who survived falling off of a steel bridge and into the rocky Esopus River--Ram/Vincent knows the only way she could have survived was by becoming a Bodywalker--a person who dies then accepts a powerful spirit into their body so they can live life again in a new way--like him and his people, he sets out to bring her to a local compound so she will be safe and learn of their ways while believing that she is his Queen.

Over the time that they spend together, an attraction (that has never been between Ram/Vincent and his Queen before) builds into something that is undeniable and strictly ... forbidden. However, can Ram/Vincent make Docia understand the importance of who she is going to become before everything comes crashing down around them and without falling into temptation. Or will all his plans fall apart?

My Book Review : 5 out of 5 stars!! Follow Docia along through her death and new life while learning about the world of Nightwalkers, becoming a Bodywalker, and finding your soul mate in the most unlikely of places. This is a hilarious and thrilling start to The World of Nightwalkers Series!! In addition, this is also a bit of a spin-off from Ms. Frank's Nightwalkers Series (a series that I have yet to read) based on the prolog that I'm not sure how that part of the story really fits into the series but I'm hoping we will find out as this series progresses.

About the Characters:
• Docia: I enjoyed Docia so much! She is quirky, fun, rambles quite a bit, and is the perfect mix of being shy and daring all at once. Also, I think that with her new "Bodywalker" status she will grow to be more formidable than ever, however I do like Docia's attitude more so then the bits I saw of her reserved counterpart so I hope that later on as this series goes we will see her acting more like herself than anything else.

• Ram/Vincent: About 68 years old but doesn't look more than a few years older than 30. Is the second in command to all the Bodywalkers and is anxiously waiting for his King and Queen's return to Earth. He believes that Docia is his Queen, and plans to protect her as much as possible. Has an undeniable connection to Docia that is hard to pull away from.

• Cleo/DesirĂ©e: A prophetess who predicted that their King and Queen were coming soon. She tries to portray herself as a ditz but is very knowledgeable and she is very welcoming to Docia when they first meet.

• Jackson: Docia's older brother who is a cop and is very protective of her. He also raised Docia since she was nine years old when their parents died with the help of his friend, Leo, so they are very close.

• Leo: Use to be in the service. Is like a brother to Jackson & Docia, since after their parents died he let them live with him and helped raise Docia. Does what he likes to call himself "private security," he does the not-so-legal side of protecting.

I loved the unique relationships and the fun banter that all of the characters have with one another! Plus, the twists and turns throughout this novel keep you glued to your seat, or should I say your eyes glued to the book. =0) I cannot wait to read "Forever" the 2nd book in this series!!

I recommend this novel to anyone that is a fan of Ms. Frank and to those who like paranormal/fantasy thriller romances!!

Author's Novel Extras : I FINISHED!!!!!

Author's Book Trailer :

Book Teaser(s) :
She lifted her hand and indicated the breathtaking gown Cleo wore so perfectly. Of course, it was probably more the breathtaking body the gown was on that made it look so good. Docia tried to keep from touching her wounded head, but there was no hope for it. She felt like an ugly duckling in the shadow of the most magnificent swan ever.
Cleo smiled kindly at her. Docia would have read it was pity if not for the sparkle of mischief in her eyes.
"Come," she said, reaching to scoop up Docia's hands and pulling her to her feet. "You've had enough of the boring details of what it means to be host to a Bodywalker. It's far past time you get to learn about the fun stuff."
Fun stuff? That kiss had been pretty fun. Yep. Definitely fun. Until it had stopped and Ramses II, great pharaoh of ancient Egyptian history, had stopped it, pushed back from her, and looked at her as if she'd just told him she was a plague carrier.
Not fun. Definitely not fun. ~ within Chapter 7
"Ram, did you do this to me? I'm really starting to not like you, mister. Ever since you showed up, things have just been going to hell in a handbasket for me!"
"Hmm," was the dry reply.
"Hmm? What hmm?" she demanded. "What's that supposed to mean, 'hmm'? It's true!"
"I don't recall being anywhere near New York when you got yourself shoved off a bridge," he said.
She opened her mouth to snap at him but shut it again almost instantly. He kind of had a point there.
"And I wasn't there when you entered the Ether."
Silence seemed the best course of action.
"And I had nothing to do with that nice gentleman trying to gut you with a knife."
"Vincent ..." She sighed. "You must be Vincent." Because Ram had never spoken with such sarcasm and irritability before, so it was the only conclusion she could come to. This was Ram's other half ... but somehow it was undiluted by the Blending. ~ within Chapter 9

Made the Grade: Fairwick Chronicles, Book 1

- This is an ARC book - Available Formats through Amazon.com: Paperback - Pages: 448; Kindle Edition - File Size: 425 KB | Expected Release Date: December 27, 2011 | Publisher: Ballantine Books | Obtained: NetGalley

"The Demon Lover" [Fairwick Chronicles, Book 1] by Juliet Dark (aka Carol Goodman)

My Book Summary : Cailleach (Callie) just recently accepted a job as a college professor at Fairwick College in New York. Even though she admits to being a "city girl," the town, its occupants, and her new house, the Honeysuckle House, unexpectedly grow on her while she was interviewing for the position. However, good portions of the town’s inhabitants seem to be very mysterious about certain things. Like, why she shouldn't buy the Honeysuckle House or go for long jogs out into the woods. Why a few of the teachers only teach or are seen around town during the night? Then there is the fact the famous novelist, who used to own the Honeysuckle House, left her manuscripts to whoever decides to own the house. And after reading a few of the author's fiction novels Callie finds that the "hero" in most of the novels are very similar to her own "dream lover" who has been visiting her just about every night since she showed up to Fairwick. So, what could really be going on in this town and college?? In addition, when the truth comes out will Callie still want to stay in Fairwick or will she go back to the life she's always known??

My Book Review : 3.5 out of 5 stars! Even though this novel has some spicy romance to it, it is mostly a dark mystery revolving around the town of Fairwick, its occupants, Callie's past and what her new roles are within the town. At the beginning of this novel it started out a little slow for me, so I wasn't sure if I would really appreciate it or not. However, not long after the beginning all of the twists and additional storylines come into play leaving you very curious as to what will happen next!! I know I was surprised about some of the turn of events within this novel. Yet, I did love how this author brought out the "dark" side of the supernatural beings without really portraying them as evil.

About the Characters:
• Dean Book/Elizabeth Book/Liz: Is very naĂ¯ve. I didn't like her in the beginning, then towards the middle she seemed okay, and by the end I'm just wondering how she was EVER left in charge of the college (and town).

• Ralph: He seems so sweet ... I wish I could have one just like him!

• Frank: I just don't know what to think about him ... he seems bad one second and then he's good. =0/ (same thing can be said about Soheila too)

• Phoenix: Poor thing. *shakes head*

• Liam: He's sneaky, mysterious, and passionate.

• Characters I DID like: Dory | Diana | Nicky | Brock

• Characters who I thought were BITCHES: Fiona | Mara

I recommend this to everyone who enjoys reading mysterious paranormal/fantasy novels with a little bit of romance and some erotica thrown in. =0)

Book Teaser(s) :
I was in a crowd walking across en endless, rolling meadow. My legs and feet hurt as if I'd been walking for miles. I looked down and saw that my feet were bare in the wet grass. My legs were scratched and bleeding, my dress torn to tatters around my knees. I was alarmed at the sight. ~ within Chapter 11
Great, I thought, as the sound of wings came closer, where was I going to find a feather on short notice? But I was wearing a down coat, an old one that sometimes leaked . . .
I patted my coat until I felt something prickly . . . and pulled. I waved the tiny feather in my hand while picturing an empty blue sky and pronouncing (correctly I hoped) the three prescribed words:
"Vacuefaca naddel nem!"
Something thumped my back. So much for having magical talents. I turned over, raising my hands to cover my face for protection . . . and found myself looking up at Liam Doyle. ~ within Chapter 22
