4 out of 5 stars. I loved the unique plotline of the book. I also really enjoyed Sadie (the FMC), Sadie's familiar, and the mates Sadie finds for herself. It was a quirky, action-packed, fantastical paranormal romance that I highly recommend to anyone who enjoys unique academy-style romances. DNF. I had been interested in this series for a while, so I was happy to purchase the entire series as a complete novel. I found book one (Marked by Night) to have a unique plotline, and I really liked Sadie (the FMC), Sadie's familiar, and the mates Sadie finds for herself. However, as book two (Bound by Light) continued the series, I wasn't getting into it as much as I had wanted to, and I ended up not finishing it. I really wish I had enjoyed this series more. DNF. I was initially interested in this novel because of its book description, and it seemed like a fun standalone within a series. However, I couldn't connect with Bella (the FMC), and once she finally got to the ball, I found that I couldn't get into the plot of this novel or even enjoy the overall plot setup of the series. This unique omegaverse story revolves around a few characters with multiple relationships centered around an omega who has had a difficult life and is trying to adapt to a "normal" world.
