"Marked for Them" [Witches of Rose Lake Series, Book 1] by Lia Davis

Author's Book Description : Hiding out in a mental institution isn’t glamorous. But I call it surviving.

I’m blissfully unaware of the world outside thanks to the hospital’s walls—and spell—that hide me. Until a ghost shows up, talking about his friends being marked by a demon. But not just any demon. The same one who marked me and wants me dead.

My father.

Fearful that Daddy Dearest could be my next uninvited guess, I choose to follow the ghost to his four very alive friends. To my relief, they want Salrus dead just as much as I do. What I’m not prepared for is finding out that Zane—the alpha wolf shifter—is my mate, and the demon mark links the six of us—ghost included—together on a deeper level than I ever imagined.

Teaming up and preparing to face the demon stirs up passion and dark secrets none of us are really ready to face.

"Marked for Them" is the first in a hot new reverse harem, paranormal romance series, Witches of Rose Lake.

My Book Review : 5 out of 5 stars! All of Reese’s life she has been living in seclusion and on the run. She is half-demon after all. Than with her father trying to kill her staying hidden is necessary. But when a ghost finds her and brings her to men who might be able to help protect her, she finds the courage to take it upon herself to make a new future for them all. Now they just have to be sure to defeat their common enemy (her father) before he rips their lives apart even more...

Can I just say now what I’ve been thinking since I finished this novel ... which is, “NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!” Why Ms. Davis, did you do this to me?! I am on Ms. Davis’ newsletter list and when she was pimping this novel ("Marked For Them") it left me REALLY intrigued. Therefore, I preordered it and was so excited on release day to get it ... then I completed this novel in about 12 hours (because of sleep and my family bugging me). Even so, I was unprepared for the cliffhanger ending, as I thought this new series was going to be a bunch of standalones but no it’s not, there is a MAJOR cliffhanger. Yet even though I am disappointed with having a cliffhanger and am wishing book 2 would be out NOW (which by the time this review is posted book 2 WILL be out) so I can get on with the plot, this novel holds its own enough that having the cliffhanger did not change my feelings in how I rated it. So, YAY ... kinda. *BIG SIGH*

First off, I’ll say if you are not a fan of insta-love than this novel/series might not be for you. However, if you can get past that and the multi-relationships, then (like me) this novel should enrapture you with its quick flowing plotline and captivating characters. All the characters captured my attention ...
  • Reese is a feisty woman who is still learning about herself as much as the men are learning about her. But her heart seems to be pure and she lets it lead her in how she deals with her men.
  • Wade is a 17-year-old looking ghost, who was the first one to be killed by Reese’s demon father. I am REALLY curious how Ms. Davis will include him into Reese’s world, permanently.
  • Wyatt is Wade’s twin brother, who now has physic powers since “earning” his demon mark. Very alpha male even though he is only “human.”
  • Trevor, I am still getting to know, but he has been in a relationship with Wyatt for years and friends with all the guys just as long. I like how his relationship was growing with Reese prior to this novel’s ending.
  • Zane is an Alpha wolf who unintentionally formed a pack with his guy friends when they were younger and now with the demon’s mark on them all, he relies on them as his official pack now. I am intrigued how his relationship with Reese will turn out, especially since she is his “true mate” and she needs/wants to mate with them all. There is no question about his role in “their pack.”
  • Dimitri is my favorite out of all Reese’s men! He is a witch with untold power that is scared of what his power could do. In this novel, he is more like a “beta male” than anything but OMG the cuteness!

In the time it took me to get through this novel, I had come root for this big group and their growing relationships. Book 2 in Ms. Davis’ Witches of Rose Lake Series cannot wait to pick it up!

I recommend this novel and series to those looking for a paranormal ménage / reverse harem romance. In addition, it’s for someone who does not mind that this novel will end with a cliffhanger.

Author's Series Extras :

Book Teaser(s) :
Looked like I was going to the coven. I sighed.
I hadn't been around other witches since I was eighteen. When Salrus killed my mom. The same night I got my scar. I wasn't even sure I was allowed to return to a coven. The Council frowned on half-breed demons whose fathers were out to kill them. Yep, Daddy Dearest was a real peach. ~ within Chapter 3
