"Chance of a Lifetime" [Anderson Brothers Series, Book 3] by Marissa Clarke

Author's Book Description : Sometimes the biggest risk is playing it safe...

Gen Richards is tired of living down to her family’s expectation of the helpless blind girl. Resurrecting her high-school bucket list that begins with “kiss a total stranger” seems just the thing until she finds herself in a panty-melting lip lock with her big brother’s best friend.

Chance Anderson thrives on adrenaline, but Genny’s the one risk he’s not willing to take. His recklessness a decade ago landed her in the hospital and ejected him from her life. He’s bad for her and everyone knows it—especially her big brother.

Chance reluctantly helps Gen complete her bucket list in order to keep her out of trouble. Running through a freezing fountain, playing Spin the Bottle while fending off a mad horde of stinging insects, and skinny dipping with homicidal attack swans don’t hold a candle to the real danger: falling for the one person he can never have.

My Book Review : 4 out of 5 stars. About ten years ago, a stupid mistake landed Gen (Genny/Genevieve) into the hospital and forced her best friend away from her. Now, she seems to finally be moving on with her life and after a surprising accident that led to a co-worker dying, Gen wants to complete the bucket list that she created when she was fifteen. Yet, the same day that she pushes forth with moving on who happens to waltz back into her life? Why her old best friend and crush, Chance, of course! Will she be able to prove to him once-and-for-all what a bad decision he made way-back-when or will he show her that what happened ten years ago isn’t what it actually seemed? Stay tuned!

This novel! Oh this novel! I LOVED it but wasn’t a total fan of how it ended. I mean don’t get me wrong I’m not trying to copout on this book review, it just that there is soooo much I’d love to discuss on this novel about the characters but then it would be one spoiler after another. So, the basic facts are that I LOVED its plot, its characters, and almost EVERY scene up until “the weddings.” Yet, by that point, the other character just broke up the amazing flow the novel had going for it. And it made me go from 5 stars to 4 stars ... BUT I STILL LOVE THE CHARACTERS AND WILL RECOMMEND IT TO ANY ROMANCE LOVER!!

I read this novel without reading ANY of the other novels within this series. And I was not lost! Plus, Ms. Clarke gave really great background knowledge of Chance’s brothers so you’ll never feel left out in this novel.

And Chance, oh my Chance! I think I may be in love. Wow! His intensity and domineering presence made him a force to be reckoned with yet I LOVED how he LOVED Gen!! Their relationship was brilliantly written because though they were apart for so long Chance’s personal redemption felt so real that I wanted to root for them from the start. Especially how they seemed to just fit one another and how he took her issues in complete stride. *happy sigh*

Like I stated above, I HIGHLY recommend this novel to those wanting a unique contemporary romance to read!!

Book Teaser(s) :
How could this have happened? Of the thousands of people she could have randomly kissed in this city, it had to be Chance.
And as instinctively as her body had responded to his kiss, her mind and heart reacted to his voice. She reached out and laid her palm on his cheek, and then, with no prelude, she drew back and slapped him as hard as she could.
The asshole. ~ within Chapter 2
"Gen." He took her face in his hands.
"No touching. Your rule."
"Fuck my rule and listen to me. I can't let you jump out of a plane. Just because I've done it doesn't mean it's right for you. You might not be scared, but I am. You almost died because of me once." His voice broke as he spoke, which caused a painful twinge in her chest.
"No talking about the past. My rule," she admonished.
"Fuck your rule, too."
And at that she smiled. She could almost hear his smile back, but to be sure, she touched his face. They remained like that for a moment, holding each other's faces over a tray of half-eaten hot dogs.
"I bet we look pretty stupid, Anderson."
"Good thing you can't see, Richards." ~ within Chapter 7
Chance was her knight in shining armor, ready to do battle against the dragon and free her from her prison. If only it were that simple. ~ within Chapter 20
