"Riding Red" [Fairytale Shifters Series, Book 1] by Alexa Riley

Author's Book Description : Gray Ridge, Colorado is a quiet town, but this Halloween there's a mating moon, and the shifters' need to breed their fated mates runs strong.

Ruby is the proud owner of Red's Goodie Basket, and as the new girl in town, she's looking for business. But when the local sexy sheriff, Dominic Wolfe, keeps the customers away, she finds it's hard to stay mad when burning with desire.

Dominic is a shifter, and his wolf wants Ruby. Since the second he laid eyes on her, he's been fighting the need to mark her as his. But when the mating moon is full, he won't be able to control his wolf any longer.

Tricks and treats are the last things on his mind when the mating heat takes over, and his obsession is put to the test.

Warning: This story is a sexy twist on a classic fairy tale, complete with a red cape, a basket of goodies, and a hungry wolf. It's written to make you smile, turn you on, and help you celebrate Halloween!

My Book Review : 3.5 out of 5 stars! Ruby's trying to make a new start for herself so she buys a bakery in hopes to settle into her new town. The only problem is Dominic, the local sheriff, who keeps most of her customers away from the shop. If only she could find out why. But once the truth is out it'll change both their lives for good.

Alright. Let's just lay it all out there. I loved the characters and thought that the main plot was okay. Yet if you aren't a huge fan paranormal erotic romance (like I am) there are some elements to this novella that readers are just going to have to overlook for the sake of the plot so they’ll be able to enjoy it. Examples that you might have to overlook would be when Dominic is acting a bit of a stalker during the build-up to his relationship to Ruby (which it's a paranormal so can be understandable) and the insta-love attraction between them (again I liked it). But if you’re not typically into those characteristics/plot devices this won’t be the novella for you. However, I'm an erotic PNR reader so I found it common to the genre and fine to read, though a bit corny at times.

Yet like I kinda stated above .... I loved Ruby and Dominic!! They were both sassy and spunky. Plus, their heat for one another made me turn my own fan on to cool me down. I thoroughly enjoyed them together. Also, I liked how Alexa Riley turned Ruby & Dominic’s relationship into a unique "Little Red Riding Hood" retelling that was quite special.

I definitely recommend it to someone looking for an erotic PNR!!

My Previous Mention(s) of this Author's Books/Characters :

Book Teaser(s) :
She bites her lip, and I can tell she's trying to find a way to prove me wrong.
"Gwen. If it's a freaking broomstick, why is it coming?" The end of the cookie has white icing shooting out of it and clearly looks like cum.
"That's the magic coming out! It's a witch's broomstick!" She says it so earnestly that I'm not sure who she's trying to convince here, me or herself.
"Yeah, something's coming out of it all right."
Suddenly, we both burst out laughing. I should be frustrated, but laughing feels good. It's something I haven't done in a while, and I let it out, enjoying the silliness of the situation. ~ within Chapter 1
