Feasted On: Nothing But Trouble by Rachel Gibson

Format: Paperback | Pages: 354 | Release Date: April 2010 | Publisher: Avon Books

"Nothing But Trouble" by Rachel Gibson

My Book Summary : Mark's hockey career took a nose dive when he got into a car accident, since then he has changed into a person who really doesn't care about anything. Also, what makes him the most bitter is to know the hockey team he lead up until his accident recently won the Stanley Cup without him.

Because of his condition during his recovery the team has been sending "health care workers" to his house to assist him much to his annoyance. So, he tries his hardest to get rid of them from his house and life as quickly as possible. However, his latest worker is more of a "personal assistant" instead of in the "health care" field and she plans to stay working for him as long as she can not matter what.

Chelsea has been a "personal assistant" before, to plenty of snobby and rude celebrities, and she plans to just deal with Mark's dark moods no matter what. The only problem is trying to still be a professional around him when he just happens to be half naked and showing off his ultra hot bod!! Will these two butt heads the whole time together or will they finally get onto some common ground??

My Book Review : 4.5 out of 5 stars!!! This was my first time reading a book by Rachel and I have to say it was a "hit out of the park!!" I LOVED the chemistry between the main characters ... I loved the back stories and the sub plots. It would have been perfect if only there was more to it then where it ended, yet I know it couldn't last forever. *sigh*

But I will definitely have to check out more from this author ... you never know what other goodies I might find!

Book Teaser(s) :
"Shit." He removed his hand and rolled onto his back.
Desire still pounding through her veins, Chelsea wondered if he'd meant "shit" because he'd had to stop. Or "shit" because he shouldn't have started.
He raised one arm and covered his eyes. "Please let this be another nightmare."
She guessed that answered her question. ~ within Chapter 10

Interview with Sandra Edwards

Sandra is an award-winning romance author. She has eclectic tastes, penning tales in a variety of genres such as paranormal (mostly time travel and reincarnation), contemporary, and romantic suspense. Her books often push the envelope and step outside the boundaries of conventional romance. She lives in the U.S. (west coast) with her husband, two kids, four dogs and one very temperamental feline. [Find out more about Sandra & her books HERE!]

My Q&A with Sandra Edwards :

Jess : When and why did you being writing?

Sandy : I discovered writing when I was about thirteen, after an English assignment to write a short story. My classmates’ stories were maybe half a page and most of them had fairly large penmanship on that assignment. My story, on the other hand, was five pages long. It was then that I discovered writing and how much I loved it. All through high school I acquainted myself with the craft by entertaining my friends with short stories.

Jess : Do you have a specific writing style?

Sandy : No, at least I don’t think so. My style depends on the story I'm currently telling. I always adjust as needed.

Jess : What appeals to you, when writing a ‘paranormal’ book?

Sandy : Time travel, ghosts and reincarnation are my favorite paranormal elements to write about. I love exploring past lives and the idea of “what if you could go back in time?”. It’s always interesting to me to ponder thoughts on what an individual might do given the chance to change the past.

Jess : Do you have a favorite character that you’ve written? If so, in which book and why?

Sandy : A favorite character? That’d be like choosing a favorite child. My favorite character is always the hero and/or heroine that I’m currently writing.

Jess : What sparked the idea for your novel, Incredible Dreams?

Sandy : A fascination with ghost stories and time travel. Ghost stories where people have died tragically (and weren’t murdered) always leave me feeling sentimental. After fusing a couple of these tragic tales together with my other fascination: the 1940s, I came up with the idea for Incredible Dreams.

Jess : Is it fun to write from two different view points?

Sandy : I love writing in multiple view points. When it comes to romance I don’t feel like I’m getting the whole story if I don’t get to experience both the hero and the heroine’s POV. Likewise, if it’s a suspense, part of the story is missing if I don’t get a peak at what’s inside the “bad guy’s” head.

Jess : Which usually comes first for you, the character(s) story or the idea for the novel?

Sandy : The first book I wrote was a combination of a character/story idea. The idea for the book was sparked by a song, but it was curiosity over how the songwriter had gotten himself in this situation that began to take shape in the form of Crazy For You.

Jess : Did you put any of your personal experiences into your books? If so, which book and why?

Sandy : No, my books are all completely fiction.

Jess : How many books have you written? Which is your favorite?

Sandy : I’ve completed six books, and I have a plethora of WIPs (works in progress). As with characters, my favorite book is always the one I’m currently working on.

Jess : Do you have any other projects in the works? If so, can you share a little of your current work with us?

Sandy : I’m in the process of wrapping up the second book in the Soul Searchers series titled Vegas, Baby. In this book, without giving away too much of Broken Wings’ plot (the first book in the series), let me just say that while Broken Wings was about Rio learning about her previous life, this book is about Rio and “her” life.

I’m also working on a book titled Forever For You, which reunites the cast of Crazy For You and throws them smack-dab into the middle of a murder mystery.

Jess : What book are you reading now? How do you like it so far?

Sandy : I’m currently reading Lonesome Dove by Larry McMurtry (something I became interested in after my husband talked me into watching the mini-series). It’s a very entertaining read even though, for me, the pacing seems to read a bit slow at times.

-- I was sooo happy about having my FIRST interview!! Thanks Sandy!! It was great talking with you and getting into your books!! --

Feasted On: Underfoot by Leanne Banks

Format: Paperback | Pages: 377 | Release Date: March 2006 | Publisher: Harlequin Books

"Underfoot" by Leanne Banks

My Book Summary : Trina never expected her day to go from being a guest at a disaster of a wedding to sleeping with the now non-groom that very night! She new both of the people getting married the bride was the great-granddaughter of her boss at Bellagio, Inc. and the groom was a marketing person she dealt with on occasion at her office and they were kinda friends (but mostly just respectful acquaintances). However, after the bride leaving the groom at the alter Trina notices Walker, the groom, at a bar not far from her apartment. They get to chatting, one thing leads to another and she offers to have him spend the night at her place (on her couch that is) but after they chat a little more things spark between them and the two end up in an night full of passion.

Trina never expected anything to come out of that night, so when she finds out that Walker is moving to France for his company, right after she finds out that she's pregnant she is really relived. Especially since, she knows that Walker wants NOTHING to do with being a father.

A little over a year later, Trina's plans take a nosedive when she finds out that not only Walker is back in town, he also plans to work with Bellagio, Inc. again. Now there is no way to avoid Walker and she is very afraid that her secret will come out. What will she do? And if her secret does come out ... how will Walker react?

My Book Review : 4 out of 5 stars!! The chemistry between Walker & Trina is palpable, I just couldn't get enough of this pair!! =0)

Book Teaser(s) :
Sad Fact: It's not unusual for a woman's feet to grow a half to a full size during pregnancy. Often enough, her feet will remain a larger size. Best consolation: a new wardrobe of shoes in the proper size. ~ within Chapter 8
Jenny raised her eyebrows. "Walker? I always wondered if the two of you would hook up if he and Brooke weren't together."
Trina felt her cheeks heat and frowned at the sensation, lifting her martini glass to take a sip. "No chance. I'm not his type. He's not mine."
"Why not? You're pretty and intelligent."
"I'm not a high-profile heiress," Trina said.
"You really think that's what he wants after his experience with Brooke?" Jenny asked doubtfully.
Trina shrugged. "I don't know. He's not my type, either. Doesn't want kids." ~ within Chapter 11

Made the Grade: Faeriewalker Series, Book 1

Format: Kindle Edition | File Size: 407 KB | Release Date: June 2010 | Publisher: St. Martin's Press

"Glimmerglass" [Faeriewalker Series, Book 1] by Jenna Black

My Book Summary : Dana grew up knowing that she was different. Different in a way that made her pack up and leave every time she seemed to be fitting into her new home/school. Basically her mother was scared that Dana's father would find out about her and find a way to steal her from where they were and take her back to his home in Avalon (a location in the United Kingdom that has the ability for humans and fairies to co-exist).

You see, Dana's mother grew up in Avalon even though she is a human but around the time she got pregnant she had a relationship with a fairy, so Dana is half-human and half-fairy. But for all of Dana's curiosity about her father she has mixed views about him from her mother. As when her mother is sober (or relatively so) she tells Dana about what a scary and mean man he is, and when her mother is drunk she tells Dana about how nice he is or was to her. However, for as long as Dana can remember her mother is usually on the drunk side of things, meaning she has to take care of things and she's more of the adult between the two of them. So, after putting up with her mother for so long she has decided that she should contact her father, let him know she exists, and hope that he will take care of her so she can be as much of a "kid" as she can now that she's sixteen yrs old.

However, as soon as she shows up in Avalon things have been going from bad to worse. To top off everything she finds out that she is a Faeriewalker, a rare person who has the ability of traveling between two worlds, and because of this ability there are a lot of people who are out to get her .... either to kill her or to find a way so she can be controlled by them.

Will her life ever be "normal" again?

My Book Review : 3 out of 5 stars, it was not what I was expecting. However, the story did pull me in and there were plenty of twists and turns along the way!! I hope that things turn into something more between Dana and her fighting instructor, since as they say opposites attract! =0) But I'm more curious then anything to see if she can find out the new qualities she has in being a Faeriewalker and how she'll be able to weld them.

Book Teaser(s) :
He actually flinched, and I almost felt bad about it. Almost.
"Understood," he said. "But I presume you'll accept my help getting out of here even so."
"And go where?"
"Wherever you want."
I chewed that one over for a bit. I sure as hell didn't want to go back to that nasty little room in the tunnels, but I didn't want to find myself stuck with Aunt Grace, either. Not until I'd had time to consider my options, at least. I had no money or ID, so I still needed help, even though at this point I'd have preferred not to have to depend on anyone. ~ within Chapter 13

Format: Hardcover | Pages: 572 | Release Date: August 2010 | Publisher: Harlequin Books

"Unraveled" [Intertwined Series, Book 2] by Gena Showalter

My Book Summary : Haden (Aden) and his friends have been through a lot already. However, after learning more about Aden & Mary Ann's shared past, meeting the girl of his dreams, and other things that have been happening to him lately ... Now Aden has to deal with becoming the possible Vampire King (while still being human), a curse that will kill his friends if he doesn't meet with the witches, and a bunch of people planning and willing to kill him. There is also the little thing about having 3 souls living inside of him and him wanting to help them as he did Mary Ann's mother. In addition, knowing that he is going to die shortly and knowing there is no way of stopping it.

During this time Mary Ann has some problems of her own ... she feels like she's to blame for her mother's death. She is falling for Riley, but she doesn't know if he likes her for her or because of how she makes him feel. Then to top everything off she finds out that her powers are worse then she could ever imagine and if anyone finds out what she really can do she'll have everyone after her hoping to eliminate her. Plus, the death curse doesn't help at all either.

Will these friends be able to stick together and fight what is to come? And will they all be able to defeat everything before Aden's death prediction comes to reality?

My Book Review : 3.5 out of 5 stars, not what I expected but it kept me wrapped all the way through. I'm really curious as to what book 3, "Twisted", will reveal especially with the change that happened to Aden at the very end of the novel. I hope everything works out for Mary Ann since I loved reading things from her POV, as she's my fave character in this series, but I am saddened by what her powers turned out to be and I really don't want anything bad to happen to her. Also, I really like Mary Ann & Riley together ... but I depending on the relationship seeing Aden & Mary Ann together might not be bad either. =0)

Book Teaser(s) :
On the way here, he'd punched a middle-aged man he'd never met, felt the guy's teeth cutting into his knuckles, and had laughed. Laughed. Because he'd liked inflicting pain.
I'm a monster.
The only time those kinds of urges left him was when he was with Mary Ann. ~ within Chapter 7
Dear God. Over her heart were two tiny swirling black and red tattoos his eyes could have traced forever.
Caleb fainted.
Elijah and Julian merely gasped.
"No. They're still there." Her voice was still layered. "Now, kiss me," she commanded, climbing over the console and sitting herself in his lap. ~ within Chapter 13
