"Getting Familiar With Your Demon" [That Old Black Magic Series, Book 4] by Jodi Redford
My Book Summary : Recently Marabella (Bella) has seen a physic who informed her that she has been cursed with virginity, which would really explain why all of her dates seemly end up leaving her whenever they are on the verge of getting hot and heavy with each other. After one of these types of dates, Bella comes across a very hot demon, Sam, who she can't seem to stop thinking about. However, when she finds him in a situation where he could get himself killed she helps out much to his annoyance.
Sam has recently been relinquished from being tortured and into the hands of someone even worse. The only way he can think of getting out of his predicament is by getting himself killed. Therefore, when Bella protects him, to say he isn't please is an understatement. Nevertheless, both of them leave from that experience believing they'll never see each other again, even though they both were very much attracted to each other.
So, when Sam's cousin finds another way to earn Sam freedom that involves Bella (in a way), he is both intrigued and nauseous at the prospect. However, what was originally one-time meeting turns into something a whole lot more when emotions and other people get involved...
My Book Review : 4 out of 5 stars!!! This novel is a great new addition to Jodi's
That Old Black Magic Series! It takes you on an adventure that you might not expect (I know I didn't) and turns into a wonderful story about love, responsibility, and what it means to have a conscience.
I will admit that the first few chapters made me think I wasn't going to enjoy this novel but around the time that Nikki (one of Sam's cousins) gets kidnapped and they start looking into Bella's past I was so intrigued with this novel that I couldn't help but love it by the end!! The characters are very amusing and clever! I loved the twists in this novel! In addition to finding out that Domino isn't a complete hard ass like I always thought she was. =0)
I recommend this to anyone who is a fan of Jodi's
That Old Black Magic Series! In addition, this novel could be read as a standalone book (I believe) so if you like paranormal books that deal with demons, witches, reapers and mates then this is the book for you!!

Book Teaser(s) : Jerking his focus to the stove, he spied a frying pan holding the charcoaled remains of...something. One of the few spatulas he owned was half melted to the burner. What the hell? His patience at an all-time low, he held his breath, crossed to the sink and cranked open the window situated above it. A breeze stirred through, scattering the acrid scent blanketing the kitchen.
He awarded Nikki a baleful glare. “Is there a reason you’re murdering my appliances and utensils?”
“I was making breakfast. Except I’m not very good at it.”
“Clearly.” ~ within Chapter 5
Why deny the natural sexual chemistry between them? It’d only condemn him to a constant hard-on. They could fuck each other’s brains out and leave it at that. It might even kill his obsession with her once and for all.
He slid a glance toward her and noticed she was sniffling. Aw hell. He’d been cock-blocked by a damn chick flick. Shifting his focus to the TV screen, he attempted to deduce what sappiness had her all misty-eyed, but damn if he could figure it out. In the movie, the big guy who apparently liked to dance a lot---but redeemed himself by driving a ’57 Chevy---said something about not putting Baby in a corner before dragging his girlfriend away from the table. From the looks of things, they were going to dance again.
Bloody fuck. Who danced this much? It was abnormal.
Marabella blotted her eyes with a tissue and gave another sniffly sigh. “Now that’s true love.”
“You’ve got to be shittin’ me.” ~ within Chapter 15
