My Story Review : 4 out of 5 stars! Looking for a new beginning, a woman moves to Scotland to be closer to her brother and ends up getting more than she bargained for with her hot new neighbor!

It’s a great start to this series! I liked how “self-involved” it was, meaning the only danger this novella had was the main characters (along with their friends/comrades assistance) messing up their own love lives. Haldor (Hal) and Cassie are a very sweet couple, who’s story I enjoyed in its simplicity. It was also interesting reading about Constantine (Con) in a “fatherly figure” role, it made for entertaining and dramatic scenes.

My Story Review : 3 out of 5 stars! A woman’s boss cons her into caving on the dragons’ private property and during the excursion she gets herself into serious danger, but once Guy finds her will her world turn out for the better or worse?

This novella was a hard one to completely fall for. I felt that way mostly because even though I liked Guy & Elena’s growing relationship instead of being mostly about them it was more about the storyline of the series and based around that. Nevertheless, in regards to Guy & Elena, I enjoyed how quickly they responded to one another and while Elena showed a few indecisive traits, I was happy with how swiftly she decided that Guy was the one for her.

My Story Review : THIS NOVELLA WAS A REREAD:: Then (December 2012): 4 out of 5 stars | Now (January 2015): 4 out of 5 stars! Being a klutz and typically being looked over had never felt like positives to Jane until danger seems to slowly surround her, thankfully she unknowingly has one hot Dragon King looking over her. Hopefully, she’ll be able to handle and deal with the fallout once all the secrets are out in the open...

I’m very happy that I reread this novella since it made so much more since while reading it as a part of the series. I still enjoyed reading about Banan and his sweetly growing relationship to Jane, again. [READ MY PREVIOUS FULL REVIEW]

My Story Review : For the full story I'm giving it 3 out of 5 stars it wraps up both novella's #2 & #3.

Part 1 – 3.5 out of 5 stars, Banan (being such the charmer he is) romantically proposes and binds himself to Jane in this sweet novella.

Part 2 – 2.5 out of 5 stars. Talk about communication issues! Guy is giving up on his feelings for Elena so she can have the happiness he thinks she deserves, if only he told her his reasoning before tensions between them had escalated. Yet, I’m happy I read about their bonding too even if it had dramatic results.

My Book Review : For the full book, I’m giving it 3.4 out of 5 stars!! I had originally only read "Dawn’s Desire," because I liked its book description the best, a few years ago and now that I've read all of the novellas prior to the full series I feel like I get the gist of this series even more. Plus I enjoyed getting to know Cassie, Hal, Elena, & Guy while getting to read more of Banan & Jane! Very cute, I'm interested to see where this series will go next!

I recommend this novel (and its individual novellas) to anyone who is a fan of Ms. Grant and/or to those who like paranormal romances!

What was I thinking? : I am a fan of Ms. Butler. Even though this was the first novel, I've read from this series, I've read previous novels of hers and liked them enough to want to read something else of hers. When I saw and read this novels description on Amazon.com back before it was going to be available I was highly excited about it and put it on my Amazon.com Wish List. After getting gift cards for Christmas it was one of the novels I was really interested in reading about...

Author's Book Description : As an albino black panther banished by her people, Veruka Jennings knows if her clan discovers she had a child, it would mean death for them both. Labeled an abomination and forbidden from having cubs, she’s spent the better part of her life as an outcast, believing she is worthless because of the color of her fur. After secretly overhearing traveling clan members discuss a bonding ceremony in Indiana, she decides to spy on the proceedings for one last look at the people who treated her like trash.

When James and John Fallon investigate a shadowy figure in the woods during a bonding ceremony, they do not expect to find the woman they are meant to share. But instead of enjoying their mating, they are embroiled in a clan war as they fight to protect Veruka and her son, who have come to mean everything to them. If they can protect her, will they be able to keep her? Or will Rue believe she’s not worthy of their love and disappear from their lives forever?

Warning: This book contains one spunky heroine who will do anything to keep her son safe, two males who aren’t about to let the slippery female get away, and a ticked off clan of panthers who want bloody revenge for their broken laws. Expect plenty of growls and snarled curses, love bites, ceremonial mating, and scorching m/f/m loving that only happens when two mountain lions finally find the woman of their dreams. Contains m/f/m interaction.

My Book Review : 1.5 out of 5 stars, a woman who has been banished from her clan and on the run for over seventeen years finally becomes rescued by two men claiming to be her mates but will she allow their help?

This novel wasn't like anything I expected, and sad to say not in the good way. Maybe my hopes were too high for this novel but I found that it didn't hold my attention at all after the 43% mark where Rue started acting like an idiot. I mean I know and understand her concerns about her son's safety but to just take off after everything supposedly got fix really made me want to stop reading this novel. Especially since James and John (Rue's mates) weren't winning me over that well either as "hero type" characters.

The only two redeeming things I found about this novel was one Domino (Dom--Rue's son) himself because I liked him and his growing relationship with Henry (John's son). The second redeeming thing I found was how the setup of John & James' pride ran and how much the guys (all of them) yearned for families of their own. Those parts were all very sweet and made me force myself into see how this novel would end.

Nevertheless, I ONLY recommend this novel to those who are already fans of Ms. Butler's Ashland Pride Series.

John shook his head. “I haven’t the foggiest.”
Henry let out a soft sob and buried his head against John’s chest. “He’s my brother. I couldn’t let him die.”
Rue began to cry, pushing away from James and leaning over Dom. She tipped his chin until she was looking into his eyes and said, “I thought you were dead. I thought I had lost everything.”
Dom wheezed and blood trickled from the corner of his mouth. “Cat saved me.”
“Cat? What cat?” Rue asked.
Dom squeezed his eyes shut as a shudder wracked his body and said with a scratchy voice, “Feels like family.”
His eyes rolled back in his head, and Ethan pushed Rue back gently, smacking Dom on the cheeks to rouse him. “Don’t pass out on us again, kiddo. You need to shift and let your cat heal you.”
Henry let go of John and pushed forward to Dom’s side, grabbing his hand lightly. “Shift. I’m not going anywhere brother.” ~ within Chapter 11

My Book Review : 4 out of 5 stars!! After finding out that he’s blind Tristan decides to make everyone—including Marion, his wife—believe that he is dead because he feels like Marion would be better off without him. Now two years later, Tristan and Marion unexpectedly meet again and his scheme is out of the bag but is Marion ready to give him up for good now that he’s back in her life? Or will Marion be able to change his mind?

I liked this novel because of Marion and her determination to love her husband while bringing back their relationship to what it once was even if that meant chasing him throughout England. Throughout this novel, even though I enjoyed Tristan as a character by himself, Tristan frustrated me with his constant dismissal of his feelings for Marion despite how she felt for him even with his blindness. Tristan’s motivation had more to do with his fear of his new circumstances than anything else did, also how he really didn’t listen to Marion when she told him what she wanted for their relationship. Overall, I enjoyed it but I wish the ending, because of how long Tristan dragged out his refusal, didn’t feel so abrupt when he had his change of heart.

Nevertheless, I definitely would recommend this novel to those who like historical romances!

My Book Review : 4.5 out of 5 stars!! From being on a lousy first date to being literally brought to a werewolf mating convention, Rebecca's having a rough day and with two werewolves staking their claim on her it's only going to get tougher...

This quirky family is at it again! Loved the build-up to this novel, plus Rebecca's triad with Aidan & Carson. Included in with the lively twists this series usually has you get to enjoy a meaningful backstory for both Aidan & Rebecca; while they work through past hurts and Carson deals with his own since of self-worth they come together in the face of an outside "party" trying to tear them apart for good. Very well written.

I recommend this novella and series to those looking for a fast-paced paranormal erotic romance.

My Book Review : 4 out of 5 stars! A woman who is trying to overcome a tragic loss falls into another family's life who are dealing with their own issues; together they help heal past hurts in hope of moving onto a better future.

This novel reminded me a bit of Ms. Mallery's Fool's Gold Series because of its clicky-type town, the supportive people that live there, and how the novel has meaningful main and sub plots while really bringing in past characters too to update the readers on their lives. However, I was surprised by how deep Emily's personal story truly is, as it wasn't the type of topic I'd expect written about in a romance novel, yet I really liked how Ms. Finz got to the root of Emily's fears and showed you how she worked through them. It was very touching. In addition, while I really liked Emily & Clay's sweet friendship turning into a spicy romantic relationship I also enjoyed reading about Lina & Griffin's budding "too young for right now" romance. Both relationships growth over throughout this novel are well written and highly captivating! I especially liked how the way this novel is pretty open-ended so we might be able to read more about each relationship at a later date within the series (here's hoping).

It will be interesting if Justin's "premonition" about Hope will come true and if we (and Emily) will ever find out what really happened. I am very curious to see where this series will go and where "Second Chances" will lead us next!

I recommend this novel to those who enjoy contemporary romances that are based around tragic circumstances.

My Q&A with Callie Hutton :

Jess : What books did you enjoy reading while growing up?

Callie : I read so much as a child, it’s hard to remember any particular books. But one book I do remember is Binnie Latches On, which was about a girl who felt out of sync with her family and to some extent, her friends. Since I was feeling the same way at the time, it made an impression on me.

Jess : Please describe Tristan, from "The Baron’s Betrayal," in one to two sentences.

Callie : Tristan is suffering from injuries received while serving in the Royal Navy and has decided to keep himself hidden from his wife who thinks he is dead. He is stubborn and strong, even though he views himself as being weak.

Jess : Which of your characters would you most & least like to invite to dinner, from which book and why?

Callie : The heroine in "The Duke’s Quandary," Penelope, is who I would love to have dinner with. She is socially inept, but would always keep you laughing. The one I would like to see the least is Jason’s cousin from "The Elusive Wife." He is a sneaky, mean person.

Jess : Which usually comes first for you, the character(s) story or the idea for the novel?

Callie : It depends. But I would say for the most part, the story comes to me before the characters. Except in "The Duke’s Quandary." I wrote that book for Penelope.

Jess : Is there any differences and/or similarities between Marion from "The Baron’s Betrayal" novel and Rosemarie from your "Daniel’s Desire" novel?

Callie : Marion is a woman who was born to a rich Duke and Duchess. Her life had been one of opulence, although due to her parents natures, she was not spoiled or led to feel she was better than anyone else. And when she needed to be strong and tenacious, she certainly has no problem with it. Rosemarie in "Daniel’s Desire" was sold in marriage to a man quite a bit older than her and has lived and worked—very hard—on a farm. She is a very strong woman who thinks she doesn’t need a man.

Jess : Out of all of the secondary characters within "The Baron’s Betrayal," do you have one or two favorites so far? If so, who are they and can you tell us why?

Callie : Tristan’s valet, Ellis is quite outspoken for his position, but his repartees with Tristan are very funny. And, of course, Penelope from "The Duke’s Quandary" makes an appearance with her funny scene.

Jess : What was your favorite chapter (or part) to write and why?

Callie : My favorite part to write was when Tristan stepped up to the plate at the end, but you’ll have to read it see why.

Jess : In regards to "The Baron’s Betrayal," if you could write it all over again, would you change anything about it?

Callie : No

Jess : How many books have you written? Which is your favorite and why?

Callie : I’ve written 17 books, including the next one in the Marriage Mart Mayhem series--"The Highlander’s Choice." That should be an August or September release.

Jess : Do you have any other projects in the works? If so, can you share a little of your current work with us?

Callie : I am just starting the next book in my Oklahoma Lovers series, "Anyplace But Here." For those who are familiar with that series, this is Hunter’s story, the younger nephew in "A Run For Love."

Just as he’d imagined, the ample rounded globes were perfect—firm, smooth, and ready for his hands to explore. She continued to turn and faced him again. One eyebrow lifted. Her voice was low, yet strong.
