Feasted On: Soldiers of Fortune Series, Book 1

- This is an ARC book - Available Formats through Amazon.com: Paperback - Pages: 342; Kindle Edition - File Size: 414 KB | Expected Release Date: December 11, 2012 | Publisher: Entangled Publishing : Select | Obtained: Entangled Publishing

"Fortune's Hero" [Soldiers of Fortune Series, Book 1] by Jenna Bennett (aka Jennie Bentley)

My Book Summary : Four months ago, Quinn and his crew were betrayed by Josie, the woman he was infatuated with at the time, who let them become captured by the Rhenians--an enemy group/planet that is trying to take over a part of space from another group/planet called Marica--while Quinn and his crew were trying to help the Marican people obtain weapons. Since then, he--and his crew--has been held captive in a Rhenian prison tortured on a constant basis in hopes that he'll give away the information he has about the Maricans.

Doctor Elsa Brandeis has witnessed and been a part of all of Quinn's torture sessions, since she is the head assistant behind the lead Doctor she is like the second-in-command. However, even though she believes in the reasons for trying to get the knowledge Quinn has, she really hates torturing anyone, especially Quinn whom she has found she respects a little.

Therefore, when Quinn finds himself with an opportunity to escape the prison, even if it means taking Elsa as a hostage, he takes the chance and finds having the "good doctor" to be a blessing and a curse. It's a blessing because she helps him escape with little to no difficulty. A curse because he starts to realize his fondness for her too during their time together.

As they battle the grueling elements of life outside of the prison walls, Quinn tries to come up with a way to save his crewmembers too, and finds himself questioning his feelings for Elsa and whether or not he's able to trust her. Will Quinn be willing to risk the lives of his crew and himself in the hands of another woman? Or will old hurts get in the way of everything he's trying to accomplish?

My Book Review : 4 out of 5 stars, this suspenseful endearing novel will entrap you into a world of torture, unusual temperatures, and survival at all costs. Even though the beginning of this novel starts off on the slower side, I have no doubt the plot will pull you in and keep you entertained until the end, just like it did for me. Along with the suspense that builds up throughout this novel, it was the underlining humor that really got me to like it even more than I expected too.

Plus, I was frankly shocked by how it ended that I am overtly curious as to what will happen next in "Fortune's Honor" book 2 for this series. Especially since I'm so frustrated with the way, the ending just leaves you hanging. Yet I'm happy because I have a feeling that each book in this series will be sure (I hope) to carry out all of the crew's (Quinn, Toby, Isaac, Holden, and--now--Elsa) antics, so we'll still be able to learn what everyone is up too even if they aren't always together. *crossing fingers*

Either way ... no matter what happens ... so far, I feel this novel was a great start for this series!

I recommend it to anyone who enjoys suspenseful sci-fi novels with just the right amount of romance.

“Here.” She cupped the back of his head and lifted to shove the folded-up uniform underneath.
He looked at her for a second, his expression unreadable. “Thank you, Doc.”
“You’re welcome, Captain.”
Another weak grin lit his face. “I think you should probably call me Quinn. Seeing as we spent the night together and all. Wet and naked.”
Elsa could feel the blush creeping up but could do nothing to stop it. Hopefully the light was too low for him to notice. “I’m not sure I feel comfortable doing that.”
He looked at her for another long moment. “Doctor-patient issues? Or prisoner-jailer ones?”
“I’m not your jailer, Captain Conlan.”
“No,” he agreed. “Out here, I figure I’m yours. As long as I’ve got the pistol, anyway.”
“You won’t shoot me.” She wasn’t quite sure where the words came from, but she was sure she was right.
“You don’t think so?” ~ within Chapter 15
He looked around, searching for anything familiar. And saw white walls and bright lights. He was lying on something cold and hard. Everywhere he looked was white, bright, and icy.
A face swam into view above him. Pale, gorgeous. The most beautiful face he’d ever seen. Hair the color of wheat pulled straight back from perfect features, eyes the color of glacier ice under bird-wing brows.
His sweetest memory and his worst nightmare rolled into one.
“Ah, shit!”
He wasn’t dead, after all. He was back in his cell in the goddamn prison on that godforsaken moon. Again.
She smiled. “Oh, good. You’re awake. Finally.”
“I’m supposed to be dead, damn you! I asked you to kill me!” ~ within Chapter 25

Idolizing In: The Underveil Series, Book 1

- This is an ARC book - Available Formats through Amazon.com: Paperback - Pages: 350; Kindle Edition - File Size: 1394 KB | Expected Release Date: October 28, 2014 | Publisher: Entangled Publishing : Select | Obtained: Entangled Publishing

"Love Me To Death" [The Underveil Series, Book 1] by Marissa Clarke (aka Mary Lindsey)

Author's Book Description : What you want the most just might kill you...

Medical research scientist Elena Arcos has always lived her life under the radar. When she is shot in a convenience store robbery, Elena finds herself rocketed into supernatural insanity courtesy of a sexy immortal law enforcer. He's convinced she's some kind of freaky half-vampire thin and that her deceased dad was the real deal: a blood sucking monster. Yeah, right.

Nikolai Itzov never anticipated battling the urge to kiss the offspring of his father's murderer. As a slayer, and elite law enforcer descended from Azrael himself, his orders from teh Underveil General are clear: Kill her or die.

Nikolai and Elena find themselves in a life and death battle to stop a plot designed to lift the Underveil and enslave humans. With her analytical mind and his centuries of training, they might be able to foil the plot with their lives and maybe their hearts intact. But in order to succeed, he must help her become the very thing he hates the most: an Undead.

My Book Review : 5 out of 5 stars!! A fated couple, who started out as enemies, comes together to save the world and learn that there is more out there then what they know...in more ways then one.

Oh My Goodness!! I am already ADDICTED to this series, as I LOVED this novel!! All of the characters are very compelling and entertaining! It was fun reading about their many background stories, which were continuously coming out of the woodwork. Overall, this novel takes the reader on a thrilling ride where they'll not expect everything that is thrown their way.

To top it off ... I could not get enough of Nikolai (Nik) & Elena (E) being together!! With Nik's abrasive/protective manner and Elena's caring ways it was exciting to watch their relationship grow, especially since with their dispositions they had to work out how to understand each other while not being offended which was kind of sweet! Additionally, I really appreciated that this novel has a beginning and end, so other then some secondary plots that weren't completed everything involving Nik & Elena's romance comes together in this novel!!

I cannot wait to see where this series will go next and whom we'll get to read about!! I recommend this novel and series to those who like paranormal thriller romances!!

Book Teaser(s) :
“You have to promise me something: Don’t let me become one of those creatures. I can’t live like that. You have to promise to use that sword and end me before it happens.” A tear ran down her cheek, and he brushed it away with his thumb. “Promise me,” she insisted.
He shook his head. “Humans don’t just change over into vampires. They replicate by killing humans, draining their blood, and replacing it with some of their own. You were born of one, not bitten and turned by one. It’s unprecedented.”
“Promise, Nikolai, or I’ll kill myself before it happens.”
Seeing her fear made him ache. If a promise would make her feel better, he would give it, even if there was no way he could carry it out. He reached under the water and grabbed her ankle, then gently tugged her closer from her side of the tub. “I promise you, Elena Arcos, I will kill you.”
“Aww. Isn’t that romantic?” Stefan said from the bathroom door. “Sweeter words have never been uttered. I bet you are a real winner on Valentine’s Day, Slayer.” ~ within Chapter 6

Cats stared at her from everywhere: from the bushes, the lawn, the roof, under the porch, and even from inside the house. Gold, blue, and green eyes glowed and followed her from the windows. So many. Too many. The back of her neck tingled. There was a threat or some kind of danger here.
One of the closer cats growled low in its throat. Elena slipped the latch from the gate, and the beast crouched lower and twitched its tail. The growl got louder. It was going to pounce.
Nik stilled her hand on the latch. “They fight like their shifter animal even in human form. They will bite and scratch. They can leap great distances in either physical manifestation. Don’t let their looks deceive you. Even unshifted, you’re not dealing with house cats here. They’re dangerous. You must be careful.”
Well, crap. That’s not what she needed to hear. She used to cuddle and pet these guys.
He leaned closer. “They won’t be expecting you to channel. Zap a few and they’ll back off. Cats don’t like water or electric shock. Go get ’em.”
The cat closest to them hissed, and Elena flinched. “Wait. Where are you going to be?”
“I’ll be watching from here. You wanted training. Well, here it is. Hands- and claws-on training.” He slid the latch all the way open and swung wide the gate. “You’re on!”
Holy. Freaking. Shit. ~ within Chapter 22

Made the Grade: Tempting the Best Man by J. Lynn

- This is an ARC book - Available Formats through Amazon.com: Kindle Edition - File Size: 306 KB | Expected Release Date: April 23, 2012 | Publisher: Entangled Publishing | Obtained: Entangled Publishing

"Tempting the Best Man" by J. Lynn (aka Jennifer L. Armentrout)

My Book Summary : When Madison (Maddie) was younger, she use to follow her brother, Mitch, and his best friend, Chase, wherever they went. What use to be kids-just-being-kids turned into a full out crush on Chase that lasted until college where Maddie tried to turn their relationship into something more and Chase pretty much turned her down wanting to keep their friendship instead. Since then, nothing has been the same between them. Even though Maddie still has a major thing for Chase, it's hard not to when she's loved him from afar her whole life and they see each other everywhere, their relationship is stilted and she tries to avoid him as much as possible.

However, avoiding Chase will be harder than ever at her brother's wedding, where she's the Maid-of-Honor and he's the Best Man. To top that off when they first get to the cabins to check-in they find that the location overbooked so they both have to share a "honeymoon suite" cabin, which will bring both their temptations to a crashing point. Will they be able to make it through the wedding weekend unscathed? Will all their secrets be laid bare? Maybe will this weekend of extreme close proximity turn out to be what they both needed? Or will they find that what they want and what they should do won't work out in the end?

My Book Review : 3 out of 5 stars, this novel proves that old crushes are hard to overcome especially when it's someone who has grown up around you. A fast-paced, entertaining, and fiery novel leaves you wishing for more!

The characters were all engaging in their own ways. Maddie is very opinionated, but I didn't like how she went back and forth between being a strong heroine and a weak one. Chase had his own "player swagger" but when it comes to Maddie, he's willing to drop everything to make sure she's okay and nothing bad happens to her no matter the cost. The only problem is what Chase believes to be good choices a first don't always turn out to be the right choices during his follow-thru.

And---OMG---Chase's older brothers Chandler and Chad made this novel funny! I couldn't wait to see what would come out of their mouths next! I hope there'll be other books with them as the main characters to find out what happens to them as well as seeing where Chase and Maddie go off too! I really think Maddie's best friend and co-worker, Bridget, needs to be the one to tame one of Chase's brothers!! =0)

I recommend this novel to anyone who enjoys contemporary romance novels!

Author's Novel Extras : Meet Chase Gamble

Book Teaser(s) :
Madison ran a hand over her hair, stunned. Rooming with Chase? There was no way. Between gawking at him in close proximity and wanting to beat him over the head when he opened his mouth, she was going to go insane.
The days leading up to the wedding were supposed to be fun and relaxing. Not a trip into crazy land. And her mom—her nutso, matchmaking mom—had a hand in this. She was going to bury that woman in a bomb shelter. ~ within Chapter 2
“Don’t tell me you shouldn’t have done it.”
His eyes went wide and then narrowed. “Maddie—”
“And stop calling me that.” Her hands balled into fists. “I think you’ve made it perfectly clear how unattractive you find me.”
“Whoa. Wait.” He threw up his hands. “This has nothing to do with that.”
She huffed. “Yeah, because when you’re attracted to someone, you actually enjoy kissing them and afterward, you don’t act like you kissed Adolf Hitler.”
His lips twitched as if he were trying not to smile, and he stood, too. “For one thing, that’s not how I acted. And secondly, I don’t want to hear ‘kissing’ and ‘Hitler’ in the same sentence ever again, because now I’m picturing you with that little Hitler mustache.”
“Shut up.”
“And that’s not hot—not hot at all.” ~ within Chapter 5

Disappointmentville: Seattle Wolf Pack Series, Book 3

- This is an ARC book - Available Formats through Amazon.com: Kindle Edition - File Size: 1125 KB | Expected Release Date: July 28, 2014 | Publisher: Entangled Publishing : Covet | Obtained: Entangled Publishing

"So I Married a Werewolf" [Seattle Wolf Pack Series, Book 3] by Kristin Miller

Author's Book Description : Carter Griffin, enforcing officer for the Seattle Wolf Pack, has a problem. He's been offered the promotion of his dreams...if he can find a wife to prove he's over his playboy ways. But Carter's already walked the matrimonial road and bought the stinkin' T-shirt. Besides, a werewolf only gets one fated mate. Been there, done that.

All werewolf dog trainer Faith Hamilton wants to do is earn enough green stuff to put her younger brother through college. Okay, okay, so she also totally wants Carter, her sexy next-door neighbor, to look at her as more than a friend. It's too bad size 12 and plain isn't his type. At all.

The two friends strike a deal to help one another out. They must face a variety of challenges from a psycho ex-girlfriend to a Yorkie with a shoe fetish...and that pesky problem of only having one-fated mate in a lifetime. Will a relationship ruin their friendship…or spark a love neither anticipated?

My Book Review : 2.5 out of 5 stars. This quirky werewolf romance was so cute I couldn't help but root for Carter & Faith. I thoroughly enjoyed their easy banter, learning about Luminaries, and reading about their love story. It was sweet.

Yet, because of just how sweet it was, it dragged a lot towards the end. In addition, even though I liked how their relationship played out, the intensity of this novel is more hyped then it needs to be, as I kept "waiting for the next shoe to drop" (like Faith getting attacked or something) which never happened. It left me a bit disappointed to see that the ending (while good) wrapped up a bit to perfectly for me.

Therefore, I recommend this novel to those who are fans of this series and/or Ms. Miller.

“I think they dropped off the wrong animal,” he said. “That’s a rat!”
“No, it’s a teacup. They’re supposed to be this small.” Laughing, Faith fought to control the black-and-white ball of fur. “This guy doesn’t seem to want to be held.”
Gently, she set the dog down. It scurried to Carter’s side like its fur was on fire, and latched onto the tip of his boot. It pumped furiously, its petite backside doing an erratic version of the Humpty Dance.
What the hell?” Carter gave the dog a little shake. “Run all the way over here for a quick hump?”
The puppy wouldn’t shake off.
“Looks like he likes you,” Faith said. “Must be those rugged good looks you were talking about.”
“Shut.” Carter wiggled his foot around. “Up.” ~ within Chapter 6

Feasted On: Deceiving the Witch Next Door by Melissa Bourbon Ramirez

- This is an ARC book - Available Formats through Amazon.com: Kindle Edition - File Size: 259 KB | Release Date: July 2012 | Publisher: Entangled Publishing : Covet | Obtained: Entangled Publishing

"Deceiving the Witch Next Door" by Melissa Bourbon Ramirez (aka Melissa Bourbon & Misa Ramirez)

My Book Summary : For years all Storie has ever wanted was a place that feels like home and somewhere she could fit in. Now that her father has passed away, she plans to turn his old pumping station into her friend Harper and her bookstore & café called, The Storiebook Café, and she is so happy. However, as soon as Harper and her go to work about making their dream come true Storie finds out that Reid, the manager/owner of The Speakeasy that is located beside her bookstore, would love to get his hands on Storie's property. Therefore, when Storie finds need of someone to help out with the repairs that need to be done she is reluctant to accept the help of Reid.

However, for all his faults and good guy behavior Reid does have plans to deceive Storie so he can help out his father. Yet as they spent more time together than ever before, old passions ignite between them making it harder for Storie to focus on her goals and making it harder for Reid to deceive this feisty witch...

My Book Review : 4 out of 5 stars, follow to feisty and stubborn people who are trying to find their way while getting and achieving their hearts desires. When I first read the description of this novel, I was hesitant to read it since I wasn't sure if I would take a liking to it or not. However, now I can say I was pleasantly surprised with this unique---"story book" of a---tale about a witch finding her soul mate. I could not get enough of these characters!!

About the Characters:
• Storie: A witch who grew up with her father. To stay away from detection about her "witchy ways" she moved around a lot, however when she was a senior in high school she moved to Bloomington, Texas and fell in love with the location so after her father dies (about 8 yrs later) she moves back to Bloomington to start her café/bookstore. Has created her own version of a family with her best friend, Harper, and Harper's daughters (Piper & Scarlett). Has an old flame for her now enemy Reid.

• Reid: Runs his father's bar (The Speakeasy). After a secret ingredient for his father so his father can make millions selling his moonshine recipe. His father believes that Storie has or knows where the secret ingredient is and wants it from her so Reid tries different ways to find it. Has an old flame for Storie that seems to get stronger while being close to her.

• Harper: Storie's best friend and business partner. Has two daughters, Piper & Scarlett. Is an excellent cook.

• Piper: Harper's oldest daughter. Loves books.

• Scarlett: Harper's youngest daughter. Very dramatic. Loves fairytales.

They were all great! Plus, this story was built up so it could work into a possible trilogy! So, I cannot wait to see where this will go, even though I have some ideas as to where it might. =0)

I recommend this novel to anyone who enjoys soft and sweet paranormal romances!

Book Teaser(s) :
“Reid Malone, you just stop.”
With utter control, his gaze moved from her face to her body. “Stop what, darlin’? You’re not enjoying our little reunion?”
“What do you want, Reid?”
He looked at her with a heated expression that she couldn’t read, almost as if what he wanted, and what he could have, were two different things. He dropped his voice. “Maybe I want you.”
Her shoulders tensed. “I’m not available.”
“Not even for the right price?”
She balked and bit back a laugh. Had he set out to get under her skin? “Are you propositioning me?” ~ within Chapter 3
The woman called again. “Storie Rae Bell?”
She cringed at hearing her full name, but Reid grinned. The smile reached his eyes and lifted his cheeks in a way that relaxed the hard lines of his face, his smile softening the bad-boy look his soul patch gave him. “Storie Rae.” He muttered her name as if he were feeling the sounds of the letters on his lips and tongue. “Fits you. All Southern and mysterious.”
Her name had always been another thing to make her stand out. Boys had laughed and girls had been brutal. She tried to gauge whether he was mocking her, but his gaze had dropped and now it slipped over her. He definitely wasn’t laughing. ~ within Chapter 9

Disappointmentville: Always A Bridesmaid by Cindi Myers

- This is an ARC book - Available Formats through Amazon.com: Kindle Edition - File Size: 718 KB | Expected Release Date: April 23, 2012 | Publisher: Entangled Publishing | Obtained: Entangled Publishing

"Always A Bridesmaid" by Cindi Myers

My Book Summary : Stephanie's day has just gone from bad to worse. First, she finds out that the place she's leasing is going to be sold. Second, a close friend of hers is getting married and asked her to be a bridesmaid (something she never wants to be again). Then she finds a new place to live but instantly falls into lust with the landlord. Nevertheless, her life can’t get worse, can it?

Mike (Stephanie's new landlord) hasn't had a "good" day in a while. After a few months of being divorced now, he's still been trying to pull together his life while being a good father to his son. However, he isn't prepared for Stephanie to come into his life or the instant attraction that they share.

Do they have something that could really work between them? Are their feelings more than lust? Will they be able to overcome their so-called "issues" to be the couple that they long to be?

My Book Review : 2.5 out of 5 stars. This is a sweet novel, about two people who are going through their own personal crises. The question is will they answer the door when opportunity comes a knocking...

It was a cute book. There is no doubt about that. However, I got annoyed with how much they second-guessed each other and themselves. I know they had "issues" from Stephanie and her school along with hoping she won't be like her mother to Mike and making sure his son (Ryan) is fine with his parents being divorced while he's a good father along the way. Nevertheless, I just WISH they could have realized everything sooner since it drags on a bit and didn't keep my attention.

Then after they DO finally realize everything, it just ends with no epilogue at the end to wrap it all up.

So, I didn't like it that much but if you are interested in reading a sweet contemporary romance then you MIGHT like it more than I did.

Click here to check out some "better" reviews from those doing a blog tour on this book. At least if you read everyone's thoughts you'll get a better perspective about this book and if it's really the book for you!

Book Teaser(s) :
"Dad helped. And Stephanie showed us how to make the paper and glue stuff look like rocks and lava and stuff."
"Who's Stephanie?" Kaye addressed the question to Mike, her expression sharp---assessing. "Stephanie is one of my housemates."
Kaye exchanged a look with Todd that Mike couldn't interpret. Was it It's about time he had another woman in his life? or What kind of floozy is he hanging out with now? "How many housemates do you have? And how many of them are women?" ~ within Chapter 8

Made the Grade: Sons of Kane Series, Book 1

- This is an ARC book - Available Formats through Amazon.com: Kindle Edition - File Size: 442 KB | Expected Release Date: May 27, 2013 | Publisher: Entangled Publishing : Covet | Obtained: Entangled Publishing

"Don’t Bite the Bridesmaid" [Sons of Kane Series, Book 1] by Tiffany Allee

My Book Summary : Alice has had a crush on her neighbor, Noah, for years and now after a few drinks of liquid courage she plans to ask him to assist her into being her "pretend boyfriend" during her younger sister's week-long-cruise-wedding.

Noah never expected his sexy neighbor to stop by with that kind of requested. He's very tempted to turn her down. Only because he's a vampire and it really wouldn't be the best place for him to be, especially if he has to be in the sun some of the times and surrounded by humans (mostly the delectable Alice) in close proximity 24/7. However, he's in need of getting out of town and this is the perfect excuse .... if only they can keep their emotional distance from each other they might still want to go back to their usual lives once the wedding cruise is all over, but that's a BIG IF!

My Book Review : 3.5 out of 5 stars, this sweet paranormal romance will sweep you off your feet. I thoroughly enjoyed reading about Alice and Noah's (a little unusual) world-win romance. They are perfect for each other because they balance each other out. Plus, it made me very intrigued as to where/how this series was going to go because of the mention of "Noah's brothers" and of the situation that happened with Alice's brother, it definitely sounds interesting. I can't wait to find out what will happen next!

The only thing that would have made this novel better would be if the big climax about Noah's "marriage issues" had a little more involved to it, so it wasn't just a "oh you choose her instead, okay" kind of deal. =0/

I recommend this novel and series to anyone who likes sexy/sweet erotic paranormal romances!

Rage fired from his gut at the idea of anyone—even himself—using Alice for a week of fun, only to say goodbye to her. She wasn’t the type, and he held his fists at his sides to avoid showing Charles how he felt about the suggestion.
“She lives next door. If I slept with her, she’d assume that would give her the right to drop in whenever.” He forced the words out, hoping Charles would believe that’s what worried him.
Charles didn’t look convinced, but he tilted his head in a quick nod. “True. You’re right. Best to keep things friendly. But it’s also best you go on this cruise.”
“Fine. But if I come back here to a wedding, I’m going to be pissed.” ~ within Chapter 1
As if nothing had happened, Noah started the dance again, but his body moved so closely against hers that she could feel him. So tempting. So powerful.
The air left the room, and it was as if they were alone with the thundering beat and Spanish words singing around them. There was nothing but him. His scent draped around her, filling her lungs with spice and a touch of sweat. He smelled like a man should smell. His hand slid down to caress the small of her back. His body directed her every movement.
Heat slid through her and settled at her core. God, she wanted him. Wanted him to slip off her dress, and slide those strong hands down her body. Touch her and make her call out his name. She could feel it. He’d be as commanding in bed. Showing her what he wanted with his body. Reading hers just as easily.
Crap. The music had stopped. When had it stopped? ~ within Chapter 6

Feasted On: Hometown Heroes Series, Book 1

- This is an ARC book - Available Formats through Amazon.com: Kindle Edition - File Size: 905 KB | Expected Release Date: June 16, 2014 | Publisher: Entangled Publishing : Bliss | Obtained: Entangled Publishing

"Taming the Country Star" [Hometown Heroes Series, Book 1] by Margo Bond Collins

Author's Book Description : He’ll do anything to win her heart. She’ll do anything to keep him away. Country star Cole Grayson is in town, and Kylie Andrews is less than thrilled.

As if months of changing the radio station and tearing down his posters weren’t bad enough, now she has to deal with a town of fans swarming toward the man who deceived her the year before. But when Kylie’s eyes meet Coles again, she cant deny the electric chemistry that drew her to him the first time around. Cole Grayson is on a mission. Ever since Kylie left him, he hasn’t been able to forget her sweet country smile.

After writing a song just for her, he sets off for her hometown to prove he’s not the player she thinks he is. But as much as Cole cant forget her, Kylie wonders if she can forgive him.

My Book Review : 4 out of 5 stars! Cole & Kylie had a "fling" over a year ago while they were both on vacation, since then they haven't been able to get forget about their time together or how much they wish it could have turned into something more. Therefore, when Cole arrives in Kylie's town for his next performance he makes certain that he'll find a way to get them back together. When he sees her, again their connection is undeniable but will Kylie's past and her fear of repeating history ruin their reunion or will they find a way to overcome her concerns...

Together these two are able to reconnect and deal with their differences in a ways that make for such a fun sweet read. For such a quick read, I loved how this novel was able to fill the reader in about Kylie & Cole's shared past without loosing its flow. In addition, I like how determined Kylie was about not turning into her mother by taking her fears head on and after dealing with her brief panic over her concerns, she finds a way to deal with the rapid changes that go on in her life.

I just couldn't get enough of them. I can't wait to see where this series will go next and maybe (at some point) Kylie's friend LeeAnn will find her own "hometown hero" too!

I recommend this to anyone looking for a fun quick slightly erotic contemporary romance!

But her friend was no longer listening. Instead, she stared over Kylie’s shoulder toward the entrance. “It’s almost a hundred degrees outside,” she said. “So why is that guy all wrapped up in a serape?”
Turning to follow LeeAnn’s gaze, Kylie caught sight of a man standing outside the door, peering in. He was draped in a Mexican-style blanket, a dark-brown Stetson pulled low over the sunglasses covering his eyes. He balanced a carryout tray with two Starbucks coffee cups on it.
“Does he think he’s Clint Eastwood?” LeeAnn asked.
“Worse,” Kylie responded with a sigh. “He thinks he’s in disguise.” When her friend shot a puzzled look her direction, Kylie explained. “I’m pretty sure that’s Cole.” ~ within Chapter 4

"Try Me" [Take a Chance Series, Book 1] by Diane Alberts

My Book Summary : It's been seven years since that terrible night when Jeremy lost the friendship of not only his best friend, but also the girl he has always loved (Erica) his best friend's little sister. All because of one lie that he didn't even tell.

However, when he thought about the day when he would see Erica again he never envisioned himself being dirty, bruised, and dehydrated on the side of the road outside of Las Vegas. He had hoped if they ever did see each other again he'd be painted in a better light then looking like he was following in his old man's footsteps. Nevertheless, here they are hanging out again and he's soon realizing that he is still completely in love with her, while she still seems unattainable to him.

Yet Erica has her own secrets .... one is that she has always loved Jeremy too! Also, her love for him hasn't seemed to lesson over the years. But her other secret might just scare him away for good if they ever get closer, like every other man, so she has to keep Jeremy at arms length no matter the cost. The only thing is will Jeremy allow her to do that??

My Book Review : 3.5 out of 5 stars, this intense novel deals with two stubborn main characters that have loved each other for years but haven't had the best of luck. Follow how they work through their troubled pasts while creating the life they want to have with each other.

I loved Jeremy!! He has this intensity that I think would be wonderful in a spouse!! My only problem was how both Erica and Jeremy deal with bring up their issues which is they either accuse each other or hide out of fear from what the other would do. Yet, even though I say that, I don't know how I'd rather have it written since it seemed to work out for them. I like them as the characters they were so I wouldn't have changed them, even their insecurities...I guess. =0)

I recommend this novel to anyone who likes to read about hot military men finding the love of their lives. Or to those who enjoy contemporary romance novels!!

"Me? Show off? Please. I'm just so naturally attractive to members of the opposite sex that it just seems like I'm showing off. This is all me, baby."

Feasted On: Bagging a Greek God Series, Book 1

- This is an ARC book - Available Formats through Amazon.com: Kindle Edition - File Size: 346 KB | Expected Release Date: July 20, 2012 | Publisher: Entangled Publishing : Covet | Obtained: Entangled Publishing

"Tall, Dark, and Divine" [Bagging a Greek God Series, Book 1] by Jenna Bennett (aka Jennie Bentley)

My Book Summary : Even though it's been a long time since Eros' (Ross), the god of love, ex-wife left him for another man he's still dwelling on it. Therefore, Ross' friend and employee, Ariadne (Ari) the minor Cretan goddess of the labyrinth, tells him it's finally time to get out in the world again and get over his ex. Reluctantly Ross agrees to hang out at their friend's bar for the night but he has no intention to hook-up with anyone, let alone a mortal. However, no matter how much Ross would like to deny it Annie, the owner/baker of the dog bakery that is across the street from his matchmaking business, catches his wrapped interest. Especially in her HOT outfit he finds her wearing at the bar that same night.

Yet after a blunder of miscommunication, old worries, and a determined man/god who thinks he's always doing the right thing ... Ross and Annie's lives go through more trials then they would have expected in a very short timeframe. Will they be able to stick together through it all? Or will Ross end up pushing them apart after all??

My Book Review : 4 out of 5 stars!! This hilarious romantic comedy was one that I finished within a day and I still wish there was more read!! Annie is a sweet spitfire who is looking for love in all the wrong places. Eros is a very depressed god who doesn't know a good thing when it's within his reach until it's almost too late. Together they make an undeniably cute duo!!

I cannot wait to see where this series was headed since from all the secondary characters it could go anywhere!! My only wish was that there was a bigger bang at the end of this novel instead of how it just seemed to fizzle out. Yet I am happy with how Annie and Eros worked everything out for themselves though.

I recommend this novel and series to anyone who likes paranormal romances. Also, I recommend it to those who like new takes on what the Greek gods and goddesses are up too. =0)

Made the Grade: Wife for Hire by Christine Bell

- This is an ARC book - Available Formats through Amazon.com: Kindle Edition - File Size: 247 KB | Release Date: August 18, 2012 | Publisher: Entangled Publishing : Indulgence | Obtained: Entangled Publishing

"Wife for Hire" by Christine Bell (aka Chloe Cole)

My Book Summary : After his sister had seven-hundred thousand dollars stolen from her by Nico, her ex-boyfriend, Owen decides to take the matter into his own hands. He found out that Nico has used the stolen money to put together what looks like a legitimate married couple's retreat and completely believes it's another scam, now he only needs to find proof. Owen put an ad on Craigslist saying he was looking for an actress and his last candidate for his "wife for hire" job is Belinda (Lindy).

Lindy isn't too keen on the idea of lying to anyone let alone about herself, but after Owen explains the situation she would love to help out anyway she can. Her only stipulation is that no matter how much she is attracted to Owen (and he to her) that they not take their personal relationship any further then what they need to pretend in public. However, how long will that vow last between them once they are in the middle of their investigation and the temperature between them flies? Will they be able to prove Nico for the scam artist Owen believes him to be or will they find out that the retreat is just too good to be true?

My Book Review : 3.5 out of 5 stars, this is a novel about fighting for what you believe in, even when there is nowhere to go with your belief. I loved Owen and Lindy together--they were a dynamic duo that brought out the best in the other. Plus, even with the things that go on at the retreat I really enjoyed the activities that they were thrown into, especially how many times Lindy kept dissing Owen's manhood/stamina. =0)

I recommend this novel to anyone who likes a contemporary romance that has a little mystery in it!!

Book Teaser(s) :
A few days earlier, a man in a sleek black carhad dropped off two suitcases and four garment bags filled with clothes. He’d handed Melba a sumptuous, ivory-colored envelope before backing out of the door with a bow.
“Feel this paper, would ya Lindy? It’s softer than a baby’s bottom. I bet it’s from your dreamy Mr. Phipps,” she’d said with a delighted cackle.
“He’s not my Mr. Phipps. I don’t want you getting ideas in your head. This isn’t a real marriage, Melba. I’m helping him out with a job. That’s all.”
The older woman waved her off. “You keep saying. Still, it’s so romantic. It’s like he’s James Bond or something and you’re Octopussy.”
Lindy had winced. ~ within Chapter 3
The cool blonde gave him an encouraging smile. “Let yourself go. Pretend it’s you and your beautiful wife, alone in a room where no one is watching.”
World’s worst idea, so instead, he did the exact opposite, imagining they were in a room filled with people. Tons of people. Screaming babies. Grumpy old men. His sister. Hell, anything to distract him from the feel of Lindy’s tight little body swaying sinuously against his to the throbbing Latin beat. ~ within Chapter 10

"Romancing His English Rose" [Lady Lancaster Garden Society Series, Book 2] by Catherine Hemmerling

My Book Summary : When they were young children Rose and Simon's parents made a marriage contract between them and ever since it was expected that they are to be married once they were older and ready. However, when Simon found out about the contract, when he was about 10 yrs old, he rebelled against his family as much as he could so he would never be forced into anything.

Now years later, while Simon is enjoying his rakish ways Rose asks for his assistance in solving a mystery involving his evil cousin. After Simon agrees to assist Rose, they both find that they have more in common then they ever believed which blossoms into something a whole lot more. But as they're getting more involved into solving their mystery will they be able to avoid getting hurt in the process...

My Book Review : 3.5 out of 5 stars, this novel is about a certain mystery that brings together an "engaged" couple from being distant acquaintances to lovelorn sweethearts. I really liked this novel. Simon and Rose were an enticing couple that I wish I could read more about! Plus, the mystery that brings these too together is really fun to follow, especially how they learn to work together.

My only wish was that this novel had a bit more intrigue, and not that everything worked out as easily as it did for the couple, even though I liked how it wrapped up at the end.

I recommend this novel to anyone who is a fan of this series and to those who like suspenseful historical romances!

Book Teaser(s) :
When Rose turned around to address Simon, she was presented with the ridiculous vision of him scrunched up uncomfortably in a chair clearly meant for a woman’s parlor—a diminutive woman, at that—with his legs crossed awkwardly, his elbows resting together on one knee, and his head held high in some attempt to look suave and sophisticated, while it was clear he was anything but.
Rose couldn’t help herself as she burst out laughing.
Simon growled at her merriment while he unfolded himself from the chair and, taking two steps to his right, settled into a much larger, much more comfortable armchair.
Her mother had returned from a recent shopping excursion with a variety of new chairs, most of which she had put in the library until she could decide where to place them in the rest of the house. Rose had seen this happen before and invariably all of the temporarily placed furniture ended up remaining where it was from that point forward. ~ within Chapter 4

“Do you think if I held you on my shoulders you could reach the window?”
“Enough to see inside, maybe, but I don’t think I would be able to open it.”
“That’s all right,” Simon replied. “I don’t believe that type of window opens anyway.”
“Then why do you want me to reach it?”
“I just want you to look around. Hopefully something you see will give us an idea of where to look for the entrance.”
“Oh,” Rose said. “That’s quite a good idea.”
“I’m so glad you think so,” Simon responded wryly.
Rose caught his tone and she stuck her tongue out at him.
“Very mature,” Simon muttered, as he crouched down to allow Rose to sit on his shoulders.
“It would behoove you not to make snide comments to a person who will very soon be able to step on your head,” Rose suggested.
“And it would behoove that person not to do anything that may cause me to drop her on her pretty little bum.”
“Point taken,” Rose acknowledged with a nod as she climbed gingerly onto his shoulders, clinging uncertainly to his head.
“Hmph,” Simon grunted, both in response to Rose’s acquiescence and with the effort needed to raise them both up from his bent position. ~ within Chapter 13

- This is an ARC book - Available Formats through Amazon.com: Kindle Edition - File Size: 350 KB | Expected Release Date: November 17, 2014 | Publisher: Entangled Publishing : Select Otherworld | Obtained: Entangled Publishing

"This Weakness for You" [Taming the Pack Series, Book 2] by Wendy Sparrow

Author's Book Description : She’s exactly what he wants to sink his teeth into...Jordan is his pack’s Alpha dog. The Big Bad Wolf. And after his last breakup, he’s opting to be the lone wolf, too. But then his rival’s little sister—a human, of all creatures—comes to his door. And suddenly, what should be a tasty little snack turns out to be something more than Jordan could ever imagine...

Christa is simply looking for a place to stay. Yet the dark shifter smells irresistibly like forever. But getting involved with the wolf who tried to kill her brother—twice—is lunacy. Besides, in the unforgiving, shadowed world of shifters, there is no room for weakness. And falling for her family’s enemy won’t just be her downfall...it will be his, too.

My Book Review : 4 out of 5 stars! Get swept up into a world of werewolves with Christa, a human who finds out that she is scent-matched to an Alpha Lycan (Jordan). Will Christa be able to cope with the rapid changes in her life or will it be too much for her?

I really liked this unique pair, Jordan & Christa, as they prove that appearances aren't everything. It was also intriguing to read about a heroine who has a deteriorating disease (multiple sclerosis -- MS) show her worth without that being the sole focus of the novel. I thought it was great! In addition, I liked how Christa kept proving her value to Jordan and his pack. However, what really won me over for this novel was its constant banter and one-liners, as it made it hard for me to choose which teasers I liked the best!

I'd love to see this series expand and see where it goes! Overall, I highly recommend this novel to those who like paranormal romances!

This was the longest, freakiest road she’d ever driven on. Anything this led to could only end badly.
When she saw a house lit up ahead, she almost turned back. She stepped on the brake, but her leg went limp, so she leaned forward and pressed her hands down on her thigh. The car shuddered to a stop. Yeah, she was real safe to be out on the roads. Reaction time like a ninja.
“I swear this is what her directions say!” She gestured at the house. “I mean, not go to the creepy house at the end of the street, but that turnoff was in the directions.” She grabbed the paper. “And then there’s a happy face.” Shaking her head, Christa threw the directions on the floor. “It’s because I ate the last three marshmallows. How the hell was I to know that marshmallows are sacred? There should have been a sign. ‘Keep out, Christa, if you value your life.’” ~ within Chapter 3

“No, not really. I was hoping the insult to your honor would be too much for you to bear, and you’d come home immediately to challenge me.”
“Did you get me ice cream?”
“Either that or I got me a whole lot of ice cream.” He heard the freezer door open, and she popped off the top of the ice cream while opening the silverware drawer. A moment later, she said around a mouthful of ice cream, “Better come home soon.”
“You’re eating that straight from the carton.”
“Yep.”

Made the Grade: Fated Match Series, Book 1

- This is an ARC book - Available Formats through Amazon.com: Kindle Edition - File Size: 977 KB | Expected Release Date: January 27, 2014 | Publisher: Entangled Publishing : Covet | Obtained: Entangled Publishing

"Love at Stake" [Fated Match Series, Book 1] by Victoria Davies

Author's Book Description : Hunting for love is a pain in the neck...

Abbey is the lone human working for Fated Match, a company that pairs members of the supernatural community with their eternal mates.

To snag a young vampire socialite as their next client, Abbey journeys to the home of Lucian Redgrave, the oldest vampire on the East Coast. But he’s not willing to allow his vampire daughter to use the agency... unless Abbey can first find his perfect match in a month.

As Abbey coaches Lucian through his dates, she can’t deny the chemistry between them. But humans are toys for vampires, and risking her heart isn’t a part of the plan.

My Book Review : 3.5 out of 5 stars! After years of working as the only human at Fated Match--a supernatural matchmaker/mate finder business--Abbey is about to have first hand experience as to how well her company's services really work. In doing so, she'll also find out what it means to be a potential mate herself...

I really enjoyed this engaging and entertaining novel! Abbey & Lucian are a pair of opposites that just seem to make the perfect match-up! Abbey tests Lucian's typical control while making him feel more alive then he has felt in a long time. In addition, their banter and robust flirtation keeps you wanting more from this novel! =0)

In truth, I would have given this novel a slightly higher rating if only the ending was better. I mean, yes I liked the way Abbey & Lucian's relationship came together yet, I wish that there weren't so many secondary loose ends when it came to the other small story plots. Therefore, I hope that as this series progresses those other plots will be wrapped up too.

I recommend this novel to anyone who enjoys paranormal romances!

Book Teaser(s) :
“You need to drive out there and give our pitch.”
Abbey blinked. “No.”
“Abbey, this is no time to be difficult. We need to land Melissa.”
“I don’t go near vampires. You know that. The bloodsuckers are far too peckish when they get around humans. No way I’m driving for hours to lock myself in a house with two of them.”
“Probably more than two. They have servants, after all.”
“Not happening.”
“I’ll give you three evenings off.”
“Nope.”
“Four.”
“Free time is no good if you’re dead.”
Vivian threw up her hands. “Don’t be dramatic. Lucian is a vampire elder. If he can’t hold it together, no one can. You’ll be perfectly safe.”
“Highly unlikely,” she muttered.
“I’ll let you make your own schedule next week and I’ll give you five extra vacation days. I’ll even set you up with a nice griffin I know.”
“Not interested in dating nonhumans,” Abbey said for the millionth time. “I only made a profile because it was part of my job description.”
“Whatever. You are going. Case closed.”
“Jessie can do it when she’s back from lunch. Or Chloe.”
“It has to be a human. You have no allegiance to any race and no ulterior motive to get an audience with an elder. You have no idea how in demand that vamp is.”
“I also have no way to defend myself if this goes bad.”
Perfectly manicured nails clacked on the marble countertop, a sure sign of Vivian’s waning patience. “Let me cut to the chase. If we don’t land Melissa Redgrave, I will hold you personally responsible. You will be fired immediately and without a reference, and you know as well as I do that matchmaking is a small world. One word from me and no agency in this town will touch you, human or otherwise. You’ve got a good thing going here, Abbey. It would be a shame to lose it.”
More than a shame, it’d be disastrous, and Vivian knew it. As a college dropout, Abbey had few prospects to begin with. Matchmaking was work she excelled at, and if she ever did leave Fated Match, it would be for another agency. But Vivian could ruin all her credibility with a few well-placed words. Then it’d be back to waiting tables and tearing her hair out trying to make rent.
“Underhanded, Viv.”
The siren didn’t look at all regretful of her vicious promise. “Take a recruitment briefcase with you. Everything you need to sign up Melissa Redgrave is in there. I’ll text you the address and you can use one of the company cars. Oh, and change into something a little more professional.”
Abbey looked down at her T-shirt, which read “Team Human.”
“I think it suits the situation just fine.”
“Change.”
Vivian flounced away without another word. ~ within Chapter 1

- This is an ARC book - Available Formats through Amazon.com: Kindle Edition - File Size: 1020 KB | Expected Release Date: January 12, 2015 | Publisher: Entangled Publishing : Scandalous | Obtained: Entangled Publishing

"The Baron’s Betrayal" [Marriage Mart Mayhem Series, Book 4] by Callie Hutton

Authors' Book Description : Lady Marion Tunstall has just now re-entered society after two years of mourning her beloved husband who was killed in an explosion while serving in the Royal Navy.

Tristan, Lord Tunstall has purposely kept himself hidden from Marion. It had been his desire to allow her to continue to think he was dead so she could marry again and not be burdened with a damaged husband.

What happens when a determined woman faces the ultimate rejection from the only man she has ever loved?

My Book Review : 4 out of 5 stars!! After finding out that he’s blind Tristan decides to make everyone—including Marion, his wife—believe that he is dead because he feels like Marion would be better off without him. Now two years later, Tristan and Marion unexpectedly meet again and his scheme is out of the bag but is Marion ready to give him up for good now that he’s back in her life? Or will Marion be able to change his mind?

I liked this novel because of Marion and her determination to love her husband while bringing back their relationship to what it once was even if that meant chasing him throughout England. Throughout this novel, even though I enjoyed Tristan as a character by himself, Tristan frustrated me with his constant dismissal of his feelings for Marion despite how she felt for him even with his blindness. Tristan’s motivation had more to do with his fear of his new circumstances than anything else did, also how he really didn’t listen to Marion when she told him what she wanted for their relationship. Overall, I enjoyed it but I wish the ending, because of how long Tristan dragged out his refusal, didn’t feel so abrupt when he had his change of heart.

Nevertheless, I definitely would recommend this novel to those who like historical romances!

Tristan sucked in a breath. “Of course I would not divorce you on those grounds. You would never recover from the scandal.”
“Then a divorce is not possible.”
“There must be a way. You need a full life, Marion. Someone who can care for you.”

Feasted On: Love Songs for the Road by Farrah Taylor

- This is an ARC book - Available Formats through Amazon.com: Kindle Edition - File Size: 1228 KB | Expected Release Date: January 13, 2014 | Publisher: Entangled Publishing : Bliss | Obtained: Entangled Publishing

"Love Songs for the Road" by Farrah Taylor

Author's Book Description : A rock star. The nanny. A love that could rock their world.

The only thing rock star Marcus Troy loves more than making music is his kids. So finding just the right nanny to take on tour with them is important—as is proving to his ex he deserves joint custody. Falling for his employee wouldn’t just be fodder for the paparazzi: it could ruin everything.

Too bad the perfect nanny turns out to be beautiful, vibrant Ryan Evans. Ryan’s never left her small Montana town before, so she jumps at the chance to see the country. And as much as accidental fame doesn’t gel with shy Ryan, what does is her relationship with her capricious, smoking-hot, shockingly good dad of a boss. Marcus is nothing like what she expected. But when the whole world’s watching them, will life in the spotlight be too hot to handle?

My Book Review : 4 out of 5 stars!! One of the sweetest rocker romances that I've had the pleasure to read! While this sweet romance entraps you in it's spell, it also has a wit and humor to it that is unexpected but makes the novel that much better.

When you first meet Marcus and Ryan they seem like such opposites that it's hard to see how their relationship will progress. Yet, as you quickly learn this couple--who goes from flirting strangers to close friends to something a whole lot more within a span of about two months--has more in common then it first appears and with all of the obstacles that get thrown at them they may just have a relationship that can endure almost anything. Together these two learn just what it means to fall in love for real and with each other, they can accomplish their hearts desires!

Along with Ryan and Marcus, Marcus' children--Charlotte and Miles--were a cute and cunning duo too. They, also, had a way of bringing Ryan and Marcus even closer together using their misfit-type of matchmaking. It was very endearing to read about! =0)

I recommend this novel to anyone who likes contemporary rock star romances!

“We could come, too,” said Charlotte hopefully.
“Yeah!” said Miles. Then, out of nowhere, he touched her waist and said, “You’re pretty.”
“No, I’m not, I’m all sweaty,” she protested, thankful that there was probably enough color already in her face to hide the fact that she was blushing. A good night’s sleep had apparently caused Miles to fall madly in love with her.
Marcus said to his son, “Miles, a woman can be pretty and sweaty at the same time.” He smiled at Ryan and shrugged, as if to say, Kids and the crazy things they say. But Ryan wasn’t used to being scrutinized by a hot guy and his kids at
the same time. The rock star’s nanny thought she might pass out if she didn’t sprint out of Pike Place Market right away.
“You think Ryan is sweaty and pretty, Daddy?” asked Miles.
“Shhh, stop it!” Charlotte said, jostling the clueless Miles’s shoulder.
Misunderstood Miles looked like he might cry for a moment, while Marcus, not answering his son, gave Ryan a dead-sexy look, those blue eyes seeming to silently agree that yes, she may have been sweaty, but she was very pretty indeed.
Ryan’s blush had faded, but with Marcus’s eyes on her, she somehow couldn’t form a proper sentence. Had a man ever looked at her so directly, so confidently? Guys in their twenties had never gazed at her like that, and she didn’t know if she could handle it. She walked a few steps down the aisle, and Marcus and the children followed her. “Have you ever seen such beautiful produce?” she said, nonsensically picking up a head of lettuce and feeling like some kind of half-assed Rachael Ray. ~ within Chapter 6 - titled 'Lock the Door'

I left for LA with everything I owned piled into my old Volkswagen and dreams of becoming a costume designer. Little did I know I’d wind up designing for a lingerie company—yeah, not sure how I landed this gig—and taken under the wing of two young Hollywood insiders. The fashion shows and parties were great, but life really got exciting when the seriously hottest lead singer of my favorite band started to fall for me.

How does someone like me, an ordinary girl from Pittsburgh, wind up in the arms of the world’s sexiest rock star—surrounded by celebrities, fashion, and music—and not be eaten alive? Berkeley is everything I've ever dreamed of in a boyfriend, but the paparazzi, the tabloids, the rumors, it's all getting a bit too crazy. My life has become every girl’s dream come true, if only I don’t blink and lose it all...

My Book Review : 4.5 out of 5 stars! An entertaining and enthralling love story! It's about a girl who's life turns up-side-down when she gets to know rock star crush and thrown into the world of the rich and famous. The kind of story every girl dreams about happening to them at one point or another (by having either the so nice/understanding boss and/or dating your idol crush), while making you laugh at the antics of Olivia's mother and friends.

I LOVED this novel and I cannot wait to see where this series will take us next! Especially since I feel it covered a lot of major twists that you'd typically see in a romance novel I'm not sure what else Ms. Delahanty can/will throw at Berkeley & Olivia. The only twist that surprised me by its rushedness was within the last chapter and I'm not sure it really flowed well with the rest of the novel, which is why I rated it the way I did. Basically, the last chapter makes me wonder even more, what twists are yet to come...

I recommend this novel and series to anyone who likes dramedy type of contemporary romances, especially if you like them with heroes who are in rock bands!

- On a side note -
I thoroughly enjoyed the tweets throughout the novel (even more so after I learned that Ms. Delahanty actually created each acct for her characters). The tweets made me want to use my own twitter acct more so then I have been lately! =0)

Book Teaser(s) :
As I close the bathroom door behind me, I turn and am startled to see Berkeley leaning in the hallway’s doorframe.
My stomach drops, and I don’t think before I blurt, “We have to stop meeting like this.”
He laughs, and a little thrill shoots through me. I just made Berkeley Dalton laugh.
Taking me in, he steps forward. “Well, I don’t know where the Vicente is,” he says. “And maybe I was too presumptuous before—I’ll only come over if you want me to.”
I feel those eyes on me, and I struggle to hold it together. If I want him to? Does he think I have a choice? For a second I imagine saying no, but it’s not in me. It’s my nature to try to make him feel comfortable even when I’m so uncomfortable. “Of course you should come over if you want to. It’ll be fun,” I lie. If by fun you mean us staring at each other in painful silence while we both wonder why the heck you came over in the first place and maybe alternate between electrocution and water boarding. Sounds great. ~ within Chapter 12
