"Sweet as Sin" [Bad Habit Series, Book 1] by J. T. Geissinger

Author's Book Description : Inside a drop-dead sexy, hard-partying rock star lies a good heart…and a dark secret.

Twenty-something Kat Reid is loving life as an in-demand Hollywood makeup artist. She has absolutely no interest in rock ’n’ roll, but in order to pay the mortgage, she agrees to work on the set of a rock video for the world-famous rockers known as Bad Habit…which brings her face-to-face with Nico Nyx, lead singer of Bad Habit and Adonis in the flesh.

However, the fiercely independent Kat isn’t impressed by the hard-living, womanizing rock star. But when Nico’s model girlfriend shows up to the set drunk and Kat is tapped to replace her as the video’s sexy bride, her combustible chemistry with Nico suddenly threatens to consume the set. Nico feels it, too—and becomes determined to win Kat over, body and soul. Yet behind his rock god swagger, Nico hides a dark secret. Can he rock Kat’s world forever, or will he just break her heart?

My Book Review : 5 out of 5 stars!! When Kat (Katherine) meets Nico during his music video shoot, she never expected her world to change in the blink of an eye. But it does. The question is does she have the courage to stay on and enjoy the ride or will "she run for the hills" too soon?

If you’re looking for an EXTREME romantic rollercoaster read than this is the book for you!! Very well written! At times, it made me feel like I was reading Kat's diary. Overall, Kat makes you fall in love all of the characters, even herself.

Reader Disclaimer :: If you were a fan of Travis from Ms. McGuire's "Beautiful Disaster" then I think you'll enjoy Nico from this novel. However, if you weren't a fan of Travis from "Beautiful Disaster" then this probably won't be the best choice for you. Mostly because Nico has an intensity about him that is like Travis. Meaning that while it's undeniable to see that Nico has feelings for Kat, he's very possessive of her and is quick to rage when he's feeling protective, which I have read previous reviews that some female readers didn't like reading "heroes" who were portrayed like that. Therefore, if that reader is you and you don't like possessive heroes (like Nico & Travis) then I don't think you’re right for this novel.

Now back to the good stuff...

I was pleasantly surprised with how Kat & Nico's romance progressed and grew. It was erotically heartwarming in its extreme intensity. And while I'm shocked at where Ms. Geissinger took the plot at times, I LOVED how everything played out!!

I hope we'll get to see the rest of Bad Habit paired off and if any of their stories are as mesmerizing as Nico & Kat's then this series will be a winner!!

I HIGHLY recommend this novel and series to those looking for a fast-paced whirlwind rock star contemporary romance!!

"I'm not a stranger. We've been introduced." His fingers curled over the curve of my hip. His head dipped toward mine.
Breathing was becoming difficult. My face felt so hot it burned. "I don't kiss men with girlfriends."
"We already covered that. She's not my girlfriend. Next excuse?"
My hands were flattened against his bare chest as I tried to push him away. My voice came out small. "I don't want to."
Nico shook his head, his eyes hot. "Such a fuckin' liar," he whispered.
Before I could react, he lowered his mouth to mine. ~ within Chapter 5

What was I thinking?: Not Quite Series, Book 1

Format: Kindle Edition | File Size: 456 KB | Release Date: November 2012 | Publisher: Montlake Romance | Obtained: Amazon.com | Originally Found Out About On The Author's Facebook Page

"Not Quite Dating" [Not Quite Series, Book 1] by Catherine Bybee

What was I thinking? : I liked the Author's Book Description and a few other of her books so I thought I'd give it a try.

Author's Book Description : Waitress and single mom Jessica “Jessie” Mann is practical to a fault. Even if she had time to date, which she doesn’t, she’d be determined to provide her son with a more secure upbringing than the one she had—and that would mean a husband with big bucks. When Jack Morrison—a sexy-as-sin, seemingly broke customer with a cowboy hat and a seductive grin—tries to flirt with her, she shoots him down. She doubts a carefree dreamer like Jack can provide the financial stability she needs. Yet with Christmas just weeks away, and Jessie not wanting to spend it alone, the charming Texan is proving hard to resist.

As the heir to the Morrison luxury hotel empire, Jack is used to being fawned over. But Jack needs someone who will fall in love with him—not his wealth. He’s set his sights on Jessie, though her hardened heart just might get in the way...
To be sure, he conceals his true identity and offers to help Jessie find the rich husband she seeks. But Jack’s daring charade may rob him of the holiday wish he wants most of all...

My Book Review : 1.5 out of 5 stars--a rich man finds the woman who might just be the perfect girl for him, if only he can prove to her that his lying to her about his wealth and who he really was had nothing to do with her personally then everything would be perfect...

I really tried to like this novel. And in some ways, I kind of did like it, mostly because of Jack and his sweet ways of trying to woo Jessie. Yet, even so, I didn't like Jessie all that much. I understand that she's used to guys using her and watching her mother deal with a string of men. Nevertheless, because of all of that she gets into a "non-ish" relationship with Jack. Mostly she sort of uses him for emotional support yet doesn't want anything more from him because she's afraid that he's a "dreamer" and is going to take off on her whenever the time comes. Even though there is no proof, he'll take off or that he plans too other than him not portraying the rich man facade that he actually is.

Basically, it was very annoying at times. So much so that by the time I got to the middle of Chapter 11, I was done with the novel.

I do hope that if you decide to read this novel you'll enjoy it more than I did. However, I do not recommend it.

- On a side note -
I liked what I read about Jack's best friends and I'm interested to see (if they're the heroes in this series) who they'll end up with.

Author's Book Trailer :

Book Teaser(s) :
“Third table down from the buffet table. Dark hair, a little thick around the middle.” Jack moved to the side so she could see whom he was talking about.
Thick? “At least he couldn’t be my dad, but please, Jack. He looks like a gangster.” Boy did he, short, calorically challenged, and with too much flashy jewelry.
“He probably is. He has what we call ‘family money.’ I don’t think he’s worked a day in his life.”
“A bum with deep pockets,” Jessie said.
“Right.”
“No bums, rich or not. A man has to make his own living. I don’t want someone who will drown if the stock market drops. The guy has to be able to dig himself back out.” Jessie glanced over the heads again.
“So let me get this straight. Rich, not too fat, self-made, young... did I leave anything out?”
“He’s gotta like kids.”
Jack blew out a long breath. “That’s a tall order, darlin’. You sure that kind of guy is out there?”
It was a lofty list. “I’m not sure of anything, Jack. This was your idea.” Her tone was short.
“OK, all right, don’t get all defensive. The night’s still young.”
She glanced at her watch. Actually, it was past eleven already. And no one new was walking in the door. ~ within Chapter 4
“I’m beat.”
“But I want to hear more about this date.”
“It wasn’t a date.”
“He drove you home.”
“That’s because my car wouldn’t start,” she said, explaining the situation.
“He kissed you at the door, and it’s almost three in the morning.”
“We talked in the back of the limo, watched the planes take off.”
“You were in a limo?”
Oh boy, not the information her sister needed to hear if Jessie was going to get any sleep before her son woke her up. “The hotel limo. Jack finagled it to give me a ride home. It wasn’t a date.”
“Sounds like a date to me.”
Jessie had spent the whole night in Jack’s presence, driven home with the guy, talked about their past, their futures. That kiss wouldn’t be forgotten any time soon. “Not quite a date.”
Monica pushed in between the covers of her bed with a catty smile. “If what I saw is ‘not quite dating,’ I want some.” She air quoted the dating statement and then turned off the light.
“Good night, Mo.”
“Night, sis. Have amazing, ‘not quite kissing’ dreams.”
Jessie tossed a pillow at her. “Brat.” ~ within Chapter 6

Feasted On: Love ‘em or Leave ‘em by Angie Stanton

Format: Kindle Edition | File Size: 1039 KB | Release Date: September 4, 2012 | Publisher: Montlake Romance | Obtained: Amazon.com

"Love ‘em or Leave ‘em" by Angie Stanton

My Book Summary : Luke is used to women wanting to be with him and he's usually more than happy to oblige. However, he's family wants him to settle down, preferably soon. Therefore, after loosing a bet with his younger brother, Luke is now the latest bachelor for a new reality show called "Love ‘em or Leave ‘em," for which the setup of the show is similar to "The Bachelor." Initially Luke is wary about the process but enjoys being surrounded by the beautiful women. Nevertheless, Luke's feelings change about the process and grow for a few of the woman but one in particular ... Ashley.

Ever since high school where Ashley had to deal with a vicious boy who worked on the newspaper, she has disliked being on camera in any shape or form. However, as a last minute favor to a best friend she agrees to go on "Love ‘em or Leave ‘em" in hopes to stay in the background and be voted off quickly. Too bad for her, that plan backfires quickly when she falls right at Luke's feet when she meets him. Then has to deal with one calamity after another. Throughout the show, Ashley tries to prove to Luke that they are not the perfect match, but as they get to know each other, they find that their hearts don't seem to agree.

Will Luke find the girl for him? Will Ashley get what she truly wants? Are these to better off as friends or should they stay together because of their amazing chemistry? Find out all your answers on .... "Love ‘em or Leave ‘em!"

My Book Review : 4 out of 5 stars, Luke is usually the love ‘em or leave ‘em kind of guy but once the reality show starts he'll find what he's really been looking for is closer then he ever believed. I loved the chemistry that constantly sparks between Luke & Ashley!! In addition, I enjoyed how much Ashley grew throughout the reality show process. It also put a little perspective on those types of game shows for me.

I recommend it to anyone who enjoys contemporary romance novels with a bit of reality TV thrown in.

Book Teaser(s) :
"Now approach the ball and get a feel for the pressure you'll need to hit it out"
Ashley raised an eyebrow at him and followed his directions. "I am now approaching the ball." She walked cautiously up to the ball talking to it as she went. "Okay, I'm in. Ball, we need to get you out of here safely. What's the plan? Do you feel pressure? What pressure do I need to hit you out of here?" She peeked over her shoulder at Luke. "Oh, you want me to pick you up and throw you?" She bent down to pick up the ball, and Luke grabbed her gently by the arm. The touch of his warm grasp went straight through her whole body.
"Oh no you don't. You're going to hit it fair and square." He let go of her arm and she felt suddenly chilled. ~ within Chapter 8
"You took quite a beating. I don't think your legs are going to look too good in shorts for a while, not to mention a swimsuit."
She scrutinized her legs. "I think you may be right. However"---there was optimism in her voice---"this may actually be a good thing. There are so many scrapes, I have that much less leg to shave. My morning shower will go so much faster."
Luke shook his head. ~ within Chapter 11
