"One Night with an Earl" [The House of Trent Series, Book 2.5 & The Donovan Sisters Series, Book 3.5] by Jennifer Haymore

Authors' Book Description : The Donovan Sisters Series, part of the series

A third erotic novella in the House of Trent series from bestselling author Jennifer Haymore.

Jennifer Haymore introduced sweet, but shy Lady Esme in "The Duchess Hunt," the first novel in her House of Trent Series. But what readers may not know is that proper young Lady Esme has a secret: the youngest sister of the Duke of Trent privately pens erotic stories!

Society would never allow Lady Esme to share her own work, so her friend Jennifer Haymore is here to help by presenting Lady Esme’s third sinfully sexy story.

---

Beatrice Reece, Lady Fenwick, has retired from polite society. Everyone knows her late husband treated her abominably, and she simply cannot bear the whispers of the ton. But it's the night of London's premier masquerade ball-and Beatrice's one chance to revel in anonymity. She hopes no one will recognize her beneath her mask, not even the sinfully sexy stranger across the room who holds her captive in his gaze . . .

Andrew Sinclair would know beautiful Beatrice anywhere from the gentle sway of her hips, the richness of her hair, and the lushness of her body. When he asks her to dance, the attraction is instant and all-consuming. The only woman he's ever truly wanted is finally in his arms. But when the clock strikes twelve, will this one reckless night fade into the morning light?

My Book Review : 3 out of 5 stars! This was a cute Cinderella-esque historical romance!

Beatrice and Andrew (Drew) are a nice match up, so much so that you wish they could have gotten together sooner.

I recommend this novella to anyone who likes historical romances and/or to those who are a fan of the series’ this novel‘s attached too!

-- On a side note --
I really liked Beatrice's friend Jessica (not only because we share a name), she was just so sweet! =0)

"There is no sense in your actions at all," Madame Lussier interrupted. "You nearly engage in sexual congress in front of six windows and a glass door, and yet the thought of seeking privacy shocks you? That is completely illogical. You know, my dear, it is perfectly acceptable to be carried away once in a while, especially by such a specimen of manhood." Madame Lussier waved at him dismissively. The she leaned forward, looking stern even through the ridiculousness of her mask. "But I must ask you, why would you refuse to go up to one of my rooms? You are clearly attracted to this man. As he is you. You are both consenting adults. Why not indulge in your baser desires for one short night?"
She looked at Beatrice, awaiting a response. Beatrice just stared at her, her lips open in shock. She had no idea how to respond, and Drew couldn't blame her. ~ within Chapter 4

"Since You've Been Gone" by Anouska Knight

Authors' Book Description : How do you learn to love again?

In one tragic moment, Holly Jefferson's life as she knew it changed forever. Now—to the external world, at least—she's finally getting back on her feet, running her bakery, Cake. But inside, she's still going through the motions befitting a twenty-seven-year-old widow.

Then she meets Ciaran Argyll. His privileged and charmed life feels a million miles from her own. However, there's more to Ciaran than the superficial world that surrounds him, and he, too, is wrestling with his own ghosts. Will Holly find the missing ingredient that allows her to live again—and embrace an unknown and unexpected tomorrow?

My Book Review : 5 out of 5 stars!!! WOW ... just, wow. Throughout reading this novel I expected to see it take many different turns, but I never expected to be so enraptured that I'd read through it so quickly and fall in love with it at the same time.

What can I say ....

I was riveted by this moving first person contemporary romance.

I swooned at how Ciaran got to know Holly while proving to her that her love for her husband may not be the only love she has to give. To outsiders they might seem like opposites, but together they force each other to relax and brake out of their comfort zones while enjoying the good things in life.

I could not get enough on this engaging cast of characters! I HIGHLY recommend this novel to anyone who enjoys contemporary romances. Especially ones with a comedic flare while dealing with multiple intense settings and themes.

Book Teaser(s) :
"Holly, what are you wearing, darlin'?" A very sweaty, but dapper-looking Frank had appeared at my side as I'd been thinking of something to say to Mr. Argyll.
"You look beautiful, Hol, ignore him. Frank---shut up, man." Jesse had stopped dancing now, too. Ciaran Argyll hadn't moved. He was just standing there watching me, his approving eyes almost as brown as Jesse's. I looked down at my dress and felt the smile fall from my lips. With a sickening lurch, I realised that I was still wearing my bath towel.
Right on cue, of course, the ice maiden took her place at Ciaran's right arm, just as I started to hyperventilate. "Would you like me to take you to get those waxed?" She smiled sweetly.
A vicious intake of breath and I jolted back to life on my bed. ~ within Chapter 8
The happiness in the room was tangible, as if you could swing a butterfly net around and take some home with you.
Ciaran and I walked through the door and into the corridor together. Today had been a good day. I felt...happy. Full up. I was trying to think of something to say to him when Martha yelled from the other side of the closed door.
"Holly Jefferson! You've got food colouring on my baby!" ~ within Chapter 28

"How to Marry a Cowboy" [Cowboys & Bride's Series, Book 4] by Carolyn Brown

Authors' Book Description : This cowboy's met his match, and he's gonna put a ring on it

Rancher Mason Harper's two little girls want nothing more than a mama of their own. So when a pretty woman appears on his front porch in a tattered wedding dress, he can't help but wonder if it's fate.

Annie Rose Boudreau is in a downright hellish mess. She's just a few steps ahead of the lowlife ex who's been hot on her heels, but she's tired of running, and nannying Mason's two sweet girls may be just what she needs. As her days on the ranch fly by, and the nights with Mason get hotter, Annie Rose decides that she's going to stay... for a lifetime.

My Book Review : 3.5 out of 5 stars! It was just soo sweet! I kept waiting for "the next boot to drop" or something major to happen to one of the main characters (Annie Rose & Mason) to add a bit more drama but it never happened, this was just a slow and steady contemporary romance that keeps you entertained the whole way through.

Annie Rose & Mason make a good team and couple. Personally, they are so connected and like the same things, I kept wondering what Mason would have done if he met Annie Rose before he married Holly ... which would he have stuck with? I kept thinking that, mostly because Annie Rose & Mason seem so perfect for each other I just can't imagine Holly & him working together well.

But anyways .... I liked the characters ... all of them. Especially Gabby & Lily, who are funny and rambunctious!

I recommend this novel to those who enjoy cowboy contemporary romances!

He pulled her into a big hay barn and pointed to the ladder leading up to the loft. "Best way to see a ranch is through the doors in a hayloft," he said.
She planted a foot on the bottom rung and scampered up the ladder, unhindered by the dress length. Coming back down would pose more of a problem and she'd have to be careful not to get tangled up in the flowing material around her ankles.
He followed her. "You do that like you've done it before."
"It ain't my first rodeo or my first hayloft," she said. ~ within Chapter 8
The title on the front of the third booklet said How to Be a Mommy. She sat down in her recliner and smiled as she opened it.
Number 1: First you got to get kids. You can't be a mommy without kids.
Number 2: Twins are the best kind of kids, because only kids like Damian are little shits. Lily said that Mama-Nanny, so if anyone gets in trouble for bad words, it's got to be her.
Number 3: Girl twins are better than boy twins. Two of Damian would make the angels and even God shudder.
Number 4: You got to love the kids to be a good mommy. We think that you love us almost as much as we love you, so you will make a good mommy.
Number 5: A good mommy would never put her girls in a schoolroom where Damian was or where his mommy was a teacher, neither one. We love you, Mama-Nanny. ~ within Chapter 17

"Pleasing the Pirate" by Sharon Cullen

Authors' Book Description : Two hearts are wrenched between love and duty in Sharon Cullen’s tale of a ruthless pirate and the Scottish lass who fills him with a desire greater than plunder.

With her clan’s crops burned and their property confiscated, Mairi McFadden is desperate to free her brother from imprisonment so that he can take his rightful place as chief. Her only hope is the fierce English pirate Phin Lockwood, but the buccaneer laughs at her meager funds. His roving eyes, however, tell Mairi there’s something else he’ll take in exchange for her brother’s rescue. Though she burns with hatred for the English, she’ll do anything to save her clan.

The crown has made it clear that Phin has two choices: Bring in a certain Scottish traitor or hang. And he’s not about to let a tiny, whiskey-eyed woman get in his way, even if she is pointing a gun at him. When Phin learns that Mairi’s brother is the very man he seeks, he’s more than willing to use the lass as bait. But as the moment of capture draws near, Phin is surprised by his feelings for the courageous beauty who has him considering risking his life—for someone besides himself.

My Book Review : 4 out of 5 stars. Loosely based on fact this passionate historical romance is one that was hard not to enjoy! From the ravaged highlands comes Mairi, a woman who's life has been ripped apart by circumstance takes it upon herself to protect her way of life by any means necessary. Once Mairi and Phin meet, their worlds collide and everything they presumed about themselves is thrown into question. Yet together these two will be able to accomplish anything. If only they'll be able to keep trusting each other.

I thoroughly enjoyed this novel! It made me hope that Ms. Cullen writes a novel with Susan & Annabel next!

I recommend this novel to anyone who likes historical romances!

Feasted On: Philadelphia Patriots Series, Book 5

- This is an ARC book - Available Formats through Amazon.com: Kindle Edition - File Size: 1607 KB | Expected Release Date: June 29, 2014 | Publisher: Self-Published | Obtained: NetGalley

"Payoff Pitch" [Philadelphia Patriots Series, Book 5] by V. K. Sykes (aka Vanessa Kelly & Randy Sykes)

Authors' Book Description : He’s a billionaire ballplayer...

Noah Cade, pitcher for the Philadelphia Patriots, has big problems. He’s recovering from a serious injury and he’s just been saddled with his sick aunt’s crazy dogs. Then there’s his dad, a wealthy oilman who wants Noah to retire from baseball and step into his shoes as CEO of the family corporation. All Noah wants is to pitch again and help his team win the World Series, but his family keeps dragging him in the opposite direction.

She’s a small town girl...

Teddy Quinn moved to the city to start a dog walking business for rich people, hoping the income will pay for law school and help her fight the oil corporations drilling the county where she grew up. When Noah Cade hires her as a full-time dog sitter for his high-energy pets, it seems like the answer to Teddy’s financial woes. But the boundaries get blurred when she starts falling for her boss, who uses all his formidable charm to lure her into his bed.

When Teddy discovers Noah’s father owns Baron Energy, she’s devastated. How can she work for—or love—a man whose family stands for everything she hates?

My Book Review : 4 out of 5 stars! Noah has had it tough lately trying hard to make a comeback from his TJ injury and with his father pushing him to get more involved in the family oil business, the last thing he wants to deal with are his aunts two rambunctious dogs. Yet, because of the dogs Teddy--a professional dog walker, a college student who wants to become a lawyer, and an environmental activist--comes into his life to change it for better. Will they be able to overcome their differences though? Especially when the differences feel insurmountable...

I found this plot to be very slow and steady the whole way through. It wasn’t a bad quality but, at times, it made me wish the pace picked up a bit. Nevertheless, I liked this novel. This novel’s characters are very engaging while the plot deals with some heavy-hitting topics that give the reader something to think about. In addition, I found that Edwina (Teddy) & Noah are opposites in terms of lifestyles but their personalities and spicy attraction are very similar, which makes them really think about each others concerns when something big happens to them throughout this novel.

Overall, I do recommend this novel. I mostly recommend it to those who are fans of the series but also to those who like contemporary sports romances, especially those that deal with a bit of activism too.

A pair of two-tone Furrarri 550 kennels sat side by side on the cart. Teddy had just glimpsed two black faces peering expectantly through the bars of the crates when suddenly a huge woof erupted from one of them.
"Ah, that would be Toby," Noah said with a chuckle. "He's always been the mouthy one."
"Well, he's the male---need I say more?" Teddy said sardonically.
Noah rolled his eyes as Teddy looked up at him, unable to resist a little grin. ~ within Chapter 6
"At the rate I'm going, I figure I'll be able to afford journalism school by the approximate age of forty-five."
Teddy could tell the girl was wildly exaggerating her financial woes. But like her, Rachel had sworn not to spend her life digging her way out from under a mountain of student debt. Both of them had witnessed friends succumb to the deadly combination of ruinous debt and the inability to find good-paying work after graduation. Working every day while taking part-time studies was a frustrating necessity, but Teddy had a plan and she was determined to stick to it.
She gave Rachel a wry smile. "I'm aiming for law school by thirty-nine, or bust."
Rachel laughed as she held up her cup in a toast. Teddy reciprocated. ~ within Chapter 7
