Made the Grade: The Souvenir by Emma Nichols

Format: Kindle Edition | File Size: 359 KB | Release Date: October 3, 2016 | Publisher: Self-Published | Obtained: Amazon

"The Souvenir" by Emma Nichols

Author's Book Description : Bestselling author Emma Nichols presents a new adult contemporary romance fans and critics are comparing to works of Jennifer Weiner. Snark and heart make The Souvenir a novel that will leave readers desperate for more.

Wren Jacobs—a twenty-something corporate trainer—would like to announce the birth of her baby, Taylor, named after the artist singing "Bad Blood" during the conception. Mother and child are adjusting nicely and ready to welcome visitors, especially the father, Brady Conner.

Despite a few too many misunderstandings, Wren never stopped loving Brady…and would love the opportunity to thank him for her souvenir from their relationship who weighed in at a whopping 8lbs 5oz, effectively ruining her after an unintentional natural delivery. Taylor's birth will forever remind Wren of the first day of summer, the last time she was ever able to wear a bikini, and that she'll probably never go to a bar again.

Follow Wren and Brady as they navigate through the tricky dating scene in this touching romantic comedy, and fall in love with the souvenir of their relationship.

My Book Review : 3 out of 5 stars. Wren and Brady have been dating and living together for a while, and Brady messes that up by letting his insecurities and an ex-girlfriend of his get between them. Can Wren and Brady overcome everything to be able to get back together with one another? Or will friends and exes get in the way and assist their relationship in falling apart?

If the last two chapters weren’t as good as they were, you would be reading a major rant right about now. I mean I understand Wren’s fears about her relationship with Brady and why she wanted to move out of their/his house, which inevitably distanced herself from him. I get it. So, please do not take this wrong. But reading about how she spent her whole pregnancy using one excuse or another to not tell Brady about their baby REALLY irked me. I have a different perspective then most on the instance of children being raised by single mothers, while I support them wholeheartedly (as my mother was one for many years) I feel the man (if he’s technically a good guy) has the right to know and choose whether or not to be a part of his child’s life. I know it can be hard because of how relationship may end (like Wren and Brady’s did) but if you don’t tell the father then you hurt your child and you don’t get to see the possibility of how good a guy he could turn out to be for his child. Even though I know not all guys are great, I still think they have the right to know.

Therefore, because of my beliefs, it was very hard for me to appreciate the middle part of this novel. In addition, it did NOT help that Wren’s best friend Jasmine kept assisting to create distance between Wren and Brady. Jasmine did this because she wanted what was best for herself by having Wren move in with her. Yes I feel Jasmine did want what was best for Wren too but because of her own personal issues with Brady as soon as something went wrong between Wren and Brady, Jasmine used that to inform Wren she just needed to stay away all together. It was very annoying. Even though I know that this is how most female friendships work (hey, I am a female) it was just grating to see Jasmine trying to support Wren in ways that I didn’t feel were assisting Wren at all. And I would LOVE to be a fly on the wall when Wren informs Jasmine of the new changes in her life that take place in the last chapter, as I don’t think Jasmine will be too happy about them. *sigh*

I really did not want to rant. I’m sorry. While this novel was not what I expected or hoped for I appreciated the transformations that both Wren and Brady go through throughout this novel. I do feel Wren and Brady were made for each other. Yet, they were both too stubborn to see through their pride and reconcile sooner. The best thing I can say about this novel is I LOVED Wren and Brady’s banter.

Overall, I DO recommend this novel. It was sweet and charming when it wanted to be. Also, I enjoyed Trey tremendously! I feel this novel is for those looking for an unplanned pregnancy romance and/or an unexpected women’s fiction.

"Are you scared?" The nurse came over and squatted beside my bed. "You don't have to be. We'll take good care of you."
I shook my head. "I'm not afraid. I'm just...not suppose to be here," I wailed. Then I wiped my eyes and blew my nose for the twelfth time since I changed out of my street clothes, into the horrible backless gown, and climbed into the hospital bed.
Her brow furrowed. "Were you supposed to go to CMC?"
"No. I'm supposed to be at Baskin Robbins!" The realization of my situation made me cry even harder.

Made the Grade: Shifters of the Primus Series, Book 1

- This is an ARC book - Available Formats through Amazon: Kindle Edition - File Size: 6990 KB | Expected Release Date: July 2, 2016 | Publisher: Self-Published | Obtained: instafreebie

"Rebel Kato" [Shifters of the Primus Series, Book 1] by Elyssa Ebbott

Author's Book Description : He takes what he wants. And he wants me.

When we run out of fuel hundreds of light years from Earth, our only hope is a nearby planet. There’s just one problem: it’s home to the most savage aliens in the galaxy.

But when the Primus warriors board our ship, they haven’t come to take all of us. Their prince just wants me. And it’s up to me to prove that humans make worthy mates to these dominant alien warriors…or else.

Kato is a deadly alpha shifter with shimmering golden skin and a tendency to leave bodies in his wake. He’s dangerous and has an ego as big as his golden spear. But does he just want a few nights of passion, or a woman to call his princess?

When murderous factions try to keep us apart, I will have more to worry about than just surviving the irresistible prince’s touch. I must choose between the danger of being beside him or the certain death that awaits outside his protection.

He has protected me so far. But when his king demands my death, will my prince rebel against his own people to save me?

Rebel Kato is the first book in the Shifters of the Primus series, but it can be read as a standalone. Each book in this science fiction series has a happily ever after and no cliffhangers, guaranteed.

My Book Review : 3 out of 5 stars. This is a powerful sci-fi erotica, that could be action-paced one moment, sweet in another, and then very lustful without any effort. While it has an intriguing setup, it was the dialogue that didn't win me over as I'd have liked it too.

Nevertheless, I would still recommend it.

Amazon (Kindle) USD : Rebel Kato (Book 1)

Amazon (Kindle) USD : Rebel Pax (Book 2)

Amazon (Kindle) USD : Rebel Gage (Book 3)

Blog Tour - Fall With Me by Jayne Frost | Book Release Day & Spreading the Word

Releasing December 15th, "FALL WITH ME" brings readers more of the sultry hot rockers that you love from Jayne Frost's Sixth Street Bands Series, along with a healthy dose of steamy romance with some laughs on the side. Also, don’t forget to check out the cover art by none other than Judi Perkins at Concierge Literary Designs.

As the bassist for the band Caged, the last three years have been one, long non-stop party. Sure, I’ve had some regrets. Everyone does. But getting trapped in a relationship isn’t one of them. I know good and well what happens when the attraction fades. I’ve seen it first hand. Love is a zero sum game, so why play? As long as I'm upfront about my feelings, no one gets hurt. Besides, I'm never in one place long enough to worry about tomorrow.

That is, until the band decided to take an extended hiatus in our hometown. That’s when I met Melody Sullivan. She’s the full-package. Whip smart and beautiful, with enough determination to take on anything life has in store. And the best part? Melody shares my philosophy on the fleeting nature of attraction. She doesn’t buy into the whole “happily ever after” crap anymore than I do. We’re perfect for each other. For now. And now is all I want.

With the expectations off the table, I can let my guard down and enjoy her company until the spark dies. And we both know it will. In a week, or a month. But until then, we’ll just keep having fun. The good kind, with lots of sex and no strings attached. And when it’s time to move on, we will. No drawn out goodbyes and no remorse.

That’s the plan, at least.

Pinning Mel to the cinder block wall in her tiny living room, I kissed her deeply, my fingers creeping under the hem of her blouse. She sighed, the back of her head bumping against the concrete as I palmed her breast.

“Fuck…sorry.” My hand disappeared into her blond locks, searching for a lump. “Are you all right?”

The girl had me so revved up I was ready to take her right here, inches from her front door.

Resting her palm against my chest, she laughed softly. “No permanent damage. I’ve got a hard head.”

Mel was hardheaded, all right. And smart. Not to mention sexy as hell.

Slipping out of my arms, she headed for the kitchen before I could devour her mouth again. I bit my lip when she ducked her head into the fridge, wiggling her ass as she poked around.

“Would you like something to drink? I’ve got water and…” She walked back with two bottles of Dasani. “Water.”

“Water’s fine.”

Twisting the cap off the bottle, I looked around the tiny apartment. Mel’s place was as bare bones as it got. Campus housing with concrete walls and worn carpet. Her entire kitchen would fit in the guest bathroom at my house.

Sinking onto the arm of the recliner, Mel snagged her lip between her teeth. “I’ve never had a one-nighter,” she admitted, like it was a bad thing. “So you’re going to have to tell me how this goes.”

Shifting my gaze to the large calendar on the wall in her dining room, I glanced over the neat stack of books on the table below. The girl was organized—OCD style—which was refreshing. But the fact that she was already planning for my imminent departure unnerved me.

Closing the gap between us, I twirled a lock of her hair around my finger. “It goes the way it goes, angel. The only thing set in stone is your breakfast. Eggs, right?”

She looked up, the sparkle in her eyes faint at best. “I’m not expecting you to be here in the morning, Christian. We both know what this is. I’ve heard all the rumors. I’m not naïve, you know?”

I pulled away out of sheer reflex. All night long we were just Christian and Mel. My celebrity was barely mentioned. Hell, she didn’t even pump me for information about the band.

After a moment, I eased onto the chair.

“Really?” I slid her onto my lap. “What have you heard about me? I’m dying to know.”

Staring at the bottle in her hand, her fingernail skated over the label. “The usual. Oversexed rocker. Never in one place more than a night.”

Tucking a finger under her chin, I tilted her face until our gazes met.

“I’ve been in Austin for months, so you shouldn’t believe everything you hear.”

Her expression indicated she saw through my halfhearted attempt to address the rumors. I may have been in the same city, but that didn’t mean I was in the same bed. A Google search would turn up dozens of pictures to prove the point.

Mel slipped her arms around my neck. “I’m just letting you know that I get it. Guys like you don’t date—they fuck.” She fought to keep her smile. “And breakfast isn’t usually part of the deal.”

I tightened my grip on her waist, my thumb skimming the smooth skin above the waistband of her jeans. Conversations like this weren’t usually unnecessary. The chicks I hung out with knew the score. Hell, they were fine with it. No truths exchanged beyond the basics: hotel or tour bus, and where should the cab drop you off when we’re finished.

But Mel wasn’t like that. She spent her time in libraries, not waiting behind rope lines hoping to get my attention.

Taking her hand, I blew out a breath. “I’ve been on the road for four years. It’s a little hard to plan breakfast when you don’t know what city you’ll be come morning. But I can’t blame it all on my lifestyle. From a strictly biological standpoint, you know, attraction fades as soon as the hormone rush is over. Pheromones and all that.” Chancing a peek at her face, I found her nodding in agreement, her green eyes glued to mine. I smiled, tracing a finger over the curve of her jaw. “I’m not saying I’m opposed to a repeat performance. I just don’t believe in making promises I can’t keep.”

Realization slammed me in the chest as she mulled over my declaration. Despite the passionate kiss at the door, Mel wasn’t a sure thing. She could ask me to leave. Hell, she might.

I held my breath as she shoved to her feet.

Propping a hand on her hip, she studied me for a long moment. “But you will be making me breakfast…is that what I’m hearing?”

Not quite a question, but a statement of fact. And one I’d gladly agree to if it meant a night in her bed.

“You can bet on it, angel.”

I stood with the intention of capturing her mouth.

Instead, Mel entwined our fingers and said, “Cool. I think I’ll take you to bed now.”

Book 1
As the guitarist for the rock band Caged, I know the rules: no relationships. No complications. Leave ‘em willing when you go, but always go. Besides, it’s not like I’m ever in one place for more than a few days at a time. As the next hottest thing out of Austin, the band and me are riding the wave, and the music is all that matters.

Until her…

Lily Tennison has “complication” written across her beautiful face. But I can’t get involved. The timing’s all wrong. But she’s under my skin, and I can’t resist her troubled eyes and sweet smile. And I do have a little time to kill. Not much, just a few days in Dallas.

So I’ll scratch the itch and move on, like I always do.

Simple, right?

So…Who is Jayne?

As a writer you would think that would be a simple question…but it’s not. I spend so much time living in my characters heads, listening to their voices, that sometimes I forget about my own.

I guess I should start with the basics: the backstory. I was born and raised in California. At this point, I’m usually asked what it was like to grow up near the beach, but sadly, I don’t know. I grew up in the “other” part of California. Perfect for an aspiring writer, if you ask me. You learn a lot about keeping yourself busy when the nearest house is a mile away…and it belongs to your grandparents.

I spent all my time with my nose in a book, living vicariously through the characters, until I wrote a book of my own. I was ten at the time. It was a scintillating piece that cast the family pet as the protagonist.

By the time I went to high school, I moved on to romance. Why? Because I met my very own prince charming. I wrote love poems in my journal about the green-eyed boy who stole my heart. He promised, the way all storybook heroes do, to sweep me away and take me on a grand adventure. And he did.

We picked up and moved to the Lone Star State and began the story of us. The best stories begin without a road map or a compass. Veering off course makes the journey so much more interesting.

True to form, just when I thought my life was set, we started the next adventure. I traded in my cowboy boots and followed my green-eyed boy to Las Vegas. My home will always be in Texas, but my heart is anywhere that he is. Our beautiful daughter made the journey with us. Our son stayed in Texas, to write his own story.

Somehow, in the midst of the chaos that is our life, I find time to write. Writing is what I love. I might stray from romance every now and then if that is what moves me…but I always come back. Some of the stories don’t seem romantic at all. They are gritty stories about flawed characters that find each other and hold on tight. Those are the stories that speak to me. Because that’s life. I believe that every story should have a happy ending—even the difficult ones.

Blog Tour - Sweet Southern Bad Boy by Michele Summers | Interview, Spreading the Word, & Novel Giveaway

Today I'm showing off Michele Summers' "Sweet Southern Bad Boy," which is her recently released novel, the THIRD novel in her Harmony Homecomings Series, and the novel I recently interviewed her about!

ALSO -- Be sure to check out the Gleam contest at the bottom of this post to be able to sign up for this blog tour's GIVEAWAY!! [Promotion for this post and its Giveaway will run from December 5 - 26, 2016]

My Q&A with Michele Summers :

Jess : What sparked the idea for "Sweet Southern Bad Boy?"

Michele : I think it first started with the kids, because I’d been dealing a lot with my own active kids and my sister’s five boys. And I thought it’d be funny to see how two people with no children handle the situation.

Jess : Which of your characters would you invite or not invite to dinner?

Michele : I’d most likely invite Bertie from "Find My Way Home" to dinner because we’re both interior designers and collector of great shoes; we’d have lots to talk about. And I like her eclectic style…reminds me a lot of me! 😉 And I’d probably not invite Lucy from "Not So New In Town" because she’d get me in tons of trouble eating junk food! I wouldn’t be able to resist Cheetos and M&M’s, some of her favorites.

Jess : Which comes first for me the character’s story or the idea for the novel?

Michele : Hmmm, I think character’s story comes first. Some wacky idea will hit me about a personality quirk or a “what if” scenario and I’ll run with it and build a story around that character.

Jess : Are there any differences and/or similarities between Vance from "Sweet Southern Bad Boy" and Brogan from "Not So New In Town?"

Michele : Both are very competitive and athletic. Both have strong personalities and both played high school football together and remained close friends. Brogan was a nicer more approachable guy in high school whereas Vance was a bit on the wild side. And Brogan figured out a way to make a living with his healthy lifestyle while Vance became a writer to right some wrongs from his past.

Jess : Favorite part to write in a novel...

Michele : Hands down: the dialogue. I love to write the banter between the Hero and the Heroine or even between the best friends. If it were up to me, my books would be nothing but running dialogue with no reference to setting, time or place.

Jess : Favorite secondary characters...

Michele : My top two favorite secondary characters are Dottie Duncan, the meddling wealthy owner of the Toot-N-Tell, because she’s always butting in everyone’s business with her no-nonsense approach. She tells it like it is. And then I’d have to say Clancy Perry, the redneck tree trimmer who’s always trying to horn in and steal the heroines out from under the heroes’ noses. He was just so darn fun to write.

Jess : How many books have you written?

Michele : I’ve written four books and have to say SSBB is my all-time favorite. I still think about Vance and Katie. I loved their chemistry and the situation of taking care of those kids. They tugged at my heartstrings and made me laugh at the same time.

Jess : And other projects in the works?

Michele : Yes, I’m working on a fun series set in Miami where I lived for over 20 years. It’s centered around three brothers, all athletes in different stages of their careers and how they find love in women who are basically their complete opposites.

Jess : Favorite aspect of the holidays:

Michele : My favorite part of the holidays is time off. I love the few days before and after when everything is already prepared…or not, where we all sit around and enjoy each other’s company. Time off from work and obligations. It’s the only time I actually slow down and rest.

Jess : Cartoon character that represents your personal philosophy?

Michele : Okay, I’m not sure if this counts, but I’d have to say Belle from Beauty and the Beast, because it’s my favorite Disney fairy tale and because she was smart and did the right thing. And she ended up with the prince in the end! Perfect.

Jess : If someone wrote a biography about me, what would the title be?

Michele : "Finding Humor…amongst the crazies!"

"Sweet Southern Bad Boy"
[Harmony Homecomings Series, Book 3] by Michele Summers

Author's Book Description :
Katie McKnight loves her job. Not really. But Katie loves her dad and this job means everything to him. Which is why she's scouting for the perfect house to film a mini-series…and that house happens to be in Harmony, NC. Now if only Katie can convince the grouchy, disheveled but totally hunky owner his home is perfect for the next teen craze, she’ll be in business.

Bestselling author, Vance Kerner has lost his mind along with his loafers and the notes to his next novel, under dirty dishes in his kitchen. Since babysitting his brother’s three kids, he hasn’t found a moments peace. So when California Katie knocks on his door, Vance doesn’t ask questions. He simply yanks her inside and puts her in charge.

Katie agrees to babysit, if Vance allows the film crew access to his property. Vance agrees to keep an open mind as long as he gets the peace he needs to write.

But having Katie underfoot is anything but peaceful. And Vance is finding less and less time to write and more and more time to watch Katie weave a lovely spell on all the Kerners...especially him.

Can these two opposites find a common ground and the love they both deserve?

Blog Tour - Sweet Southern Bad Boy by Michele Summers | Casting Call Spotlight, Spreading the Word, & Novel Giveaway

Today I'm showing off Michele Summers' "Sweet Southern Bad Boy," which is the THIRD novel in her Harmony Homecomings Series!!

ALSO -- Be sure to check out Rafflecopter at the bottom of this post to be able to sign up for this blog stop's GIVEAWAY(s)!! [Blog Tour & Giveaway will run from November 28 - December 24, 2016]

"Sweet Southern Bad Boy" is now casting actors for the main couple :

Looking for dynamic couple with off the charts chemistry and sizzling sex appeal and ability to banter, laugh and cry with each other. Need to believe in the elusive love at first sight and living happily ever after.

"Sweet Southern Bad Boy" Casting Call :

Casting call for one strong, hunky, athletic, alpha-male with a bit of an attitude and a little bit of crank on the side, but beneath the gruff exterior, a really good guy. All actors apply between 29 and 34 years of age, 6’ to 6’-3’’ tall, dark longish hair, dark eyes, cool facial scuff, and totally handsome. No scrawny pip-squeaks need apply. No shaved heads, dreadlocks or Mohawks and no Duck Dynasty look-a-likes. Authentic southern drawl a real plus along with a sexy smoldering look and a piratical smile.

Calling all pretty, fresh-faced gals with long dark hair and dark eyes, approximately 5’-4” to 5-6” in height with a sunny smile and disposition to match. Between the ages of 26 and 30; size 10 with womanly curves. Nice but no push-over, strong enough to wrangle three wild children under the age of 6. No shrinking violets, or high-maintenance, spoiled princesses need apply. Executing piercing wolf whistle could seal the deal.

Second Sentence Saturday: Bear's Secret Baby

SECOND SENTENCE SATURDAY is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by Jess of From Me to You ... Video, Photography, & Book Reviews. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:

  • Grab the novel/novella your currently reading or previously read
  • Open to the first page of Chapter 1 or its Prologue
  • Share the SECOND sentence from that page
  • Share the novel/novella's title & its author, so that other participants can add that novel to their TBR Lists if they want

MY Second Sentence Saturday :

"Bear's Secret Baby" [Emerald City Shifters Series, Book 3] by Kit Fawkes (aka Kit Tunstall, Kit Kyndall, Lilly LaRue, Kristianna Sawyer, Aurelia Skye, T. K. Reilley, R. E. Saxton, & Desdemona St. Claire) - [Amazon Book Link]

It looked ominous, though she supposed that was more to do with her own perception based on what Lila had told her, and the boat captain's reaction when she'd asked him to give them a ride to the island.

PLEASE LEAVE A COMMENT to share either the link to your own SECOND SENTENCE SATURDAY post or share the sentence in a comment here (if you don’t have a blog). Thank You!

The Books I'm Thankful For (so far) in 2016

In tradition (well mine at least) of today being Thanksgiving Day (the USA version of it at least ... opps I must be on repeat 🙃), here is a list of ALL the books I've read thus far this year that I've given my highest ratings to, which means I'm VERY Thankful for finding/reading them!! So, here you go (listed in the order of when I read them this year):
  1. "Crashed Out" [MADE IN JERSEY Series, Book 1] by Tessa Bailey: 5 out of 5 stars!! Ever since he was young, his older sister’s best friend, Jasmine (Jas), has fascinated Sarge. Over the years, that fascination has turned into a big crush and a bit of an obsession. Therefore, when he was eighteen and realized Jasmine wasn't noticing him he took off for LA to make a name for himself as a musician, which he did. Now, four years later, he's back home in Hook, NJ to catch up with his sister and to find a way to overcome his obsession with Jasmine once and for all. Yet Sarge soon finds out that getting over Jasmine is easier said than done...

This tantalizing erotic romance is not only steamy it has a great plotline too! Extremely hot because of Sarge's domineering ways, made me just want to read more about Jasmine and him. [Read more of Jess' Review and TWO TEASERS for this novel HERE]

  2. "The Good, the Bad, and the Vampire" [Dead in the City Series, Book 4] by Sara Humphreys: 5 out of 5 stars!! Trixie (Trix) loves being a vampire, being one has changed her life for the better but even after thirty years without her humanity, she still struggles with leaving her daughter behind. Therefore, at least once a week, she watches over her daughter in hopes of making sure she is okay and protecting her from anything bad that might come her way. Nevertheless, Trixie isn’t prepared for the gargoyles that force themselves into her daughter’s life and she’ll do anything it takes to protect her, even if that means transforming her daughter into a vampire as well, something she never wanted to happen. With a slow drawling cowboy vampire (Dakota) to help her keep her family together and hunt down the ones who destroyed her daughter’s life everything might be okay, that is until lies from their pasts are revealed. Now both Dakota & Trixie’s futures are the line … will they be able to right old wrongs before it’s all too late?

This fast-paced suspenseful paranormal romance is one that kept me wanting to read more! Ms. Humphreys’ writes a spectacular tale full of heart and heroism. [Read more of Jess' Review and TWO TEASERS for this novel HERE]

  3. "Bite at First Sight" [Scandals With Bite Series, Book 3] by Brooklyn Ann: 5 out of 5 stars! All of her life Cassandra has strived to become a Doctor. However, because of her being a woman she has had to learn everything she knows on her own, which is why she finds herself in a cemetery with plans on getting some cadavers so she could start studying the human anatomy. What she never expected was to have Don Villar (Rafael/Rafe) find her there and to have him turn out to be anything but human. Now with Cassandra embroiled into the vampire world Rafael has a month to find a way to change her into a vampire too or there will be drastic consequences. But with a rebellion on the horizon will they be able to accomplish everything in time or will it be all for not?

A wonderfully dramatic tale set in a historical paranormal world where you’ll find a sweet love story between a progressive woman and a stubborn scarred man. Now that I think of it this novel reminds me a little bit of “Beauty & the Beast.” [Read more of Jess' Review and THREE TEASERS for this novel HERE]

  4. "Hawk's Revenge" [Lone Pine Pride Series, Book 3] by Vivi Andrews: 5 out of 5 stars! The Lone Pine Pride Series, with all of its novels including "Hawk's Revenge," are a spin-off from Ms. Andrews’ Serengeti Shifters Series and while each of the novels are all connected very closely, because of the way the background plot of the series runs, readers can expect them to be stand-alone-ish novels.

For the past four years, Rachel has been a fertility scientist working for the Organization and during that time, she has secretly organized shifters to escape. Six months ago, the Organization became suspicious of her and her relationship with Adrian (Noah/Hawk), a hawk shifter who she was sort of dating and helping her get the shifter escapees further away than they could by themselves. So, for the sake of all her plans and the escapees she allows the Organization to capture Adrian, and in the end herself too. Recently she has gotten Adrian released from the compound but will that personal betrayal between them be easy to overcome? Will Adrian understand why she did what she did to him and go back to save her too? Was what they shared together even real or just a lot of pent up lust? So many questions and lies between them, with so little time will they be able to get the closure they need or will everything fall apart?

OH MY GOD!! [Read more of Jess' Review and FOUR TEASERS for this novel HERE]

  5. "The Virgin Cowboy Billionaire’s Secret Baby" by Lauren Gallagher: 5 out of 5 stars!! About a decade ago, Matthew (Matt) and Dara--two best friends--were there for one another during the worst time of Dara's life when she was dealing with cancer treatments and deciding to freeze some of her eggs/embryos with the help of Matt. After that, they both grew apart first because of a stupid fight, then life just swept them onto different paths. Now both are living back in their hometown and even though Dara is in the middle of a divorce she has news for Matt, she's pregnant from the embryos they created years ago and is curious if he would be willing to actually be a father to the life he created now that her ex-husband is out of the picture. Matt agrees and so their friendship begins again like they were never apart. Yet, if it was only them, everything would be fine but with both their families hating one-another over a generational feud and with a gossipy town contend with, it's them against the world .... but will it bring them closer together or further apart?

This novel is so erotically sweet that I could not get enough and was wishing for a Matt of my own. I loved how Dara and Matt dealt with their relationship before and after they had sex. [Read more of Jess' Review and THREE TEASERS for this novel HERE]

  6. "Rock Me Two Times" [Rock Band Series, Book 1] by Dawn Ryder: 5 out of 5 stars!! This plot was a typical one for a rockstar romance…
Rockstar meets woman who excites and challenges him. Said rockstar hooks woman to go on tour with him. They fall into a relationship that neither expected. Yet, the Band’s manager doesn’t like their relationship and sets out to destroy it at all costs.
…Like I said, it’s a typical plot. However, the all the characters were mesmerizing from the first page and enticed me to see how everything would turn out and I am SOOO HAPPY that I did! This novel is well worth reading!

InTENse! So intense that every time I had to stop reading the novel to get back to reality I was revved up there too. [Read more of Jess' Review and THREE TEASERS for this novel HERE]

  7. "Bear's Secret Baby" [Emerald City Shifters Series, Book 3] by Kit Fawkes: 5 out of 5 stars! Shayla is looking for a way to save her (few week old) niece, Aislinn, and she’s at her wits end. The doctors have all basically given up on her, so now Shayla decides to take Aislinn to Aislinn’s father in hopes he’ll have an idea in how to help. Yet in doing so opens up more questions than answers. Will they be able to trust each other enough to overcome Aislinn’s problem and become a family of sorts? Or will outside forces tear their family apart even more?

With this being a short story/novella, I really liked how its setup and flow was written. It has an intriguing premise too that made me feel that for it being a paranormal romance it was plausible in its execution. [Read more of Jess' Review and TWO TEASERS for this novel HERE]

  8. "Bad Kitty" [Chronicles of the Malcolm Series, Book 2] by Teresa Noelle Roberts: 5 out of 5 stars! On the run from a few assassins, Xia and her Malcolm crew “family” take refuge on a crime-ridden planet with its warlord Rahal. While Xia’s instant attraction to Rahal is undeniable, what really surprises her is their chemistry and how she is willing to do spend more than one night with him. Yet it’s not only Rahal that has stolen her attention, an arms dealer called Karn “the Viking” Anders has too.

Karn’s actual name is Cal and whose job is private law enforcement is going after Xia because of a job to reunite her with her relatives. However, as Cal gets more involved with Xia and Rahal he comes to realize that he can’t fulfill his contract but even so how will he be able to tell the truth to the two people who are starting to mean more to him than anything or anyone else?

As the three of them deal with their unexpected relationship and the threats against them, they find that they’ll need to overcome the lies that unintentionally brought them together. Or will everything fall apart on them?

This novel is Soo FUN … it would be hot and erotic one minute than have me laughing at Xia, Cal, & Rahal’s quirky antics the next. A thrilling read in more than one ways, I didn’t want to stop reading about this wonderful character match up! [Read more of Jess' Review and FOUR TEASERS for this novel HERE]

  9. "Once Upon a Power Play" [Risky Business Series, Book 2] by Jennifer Bonds: 5 out of 5 stars!! On the night that Chloe decides on giving up on dating and men, she meets Ryan (a pro-hockey player) at a grocery store and gets into a fight with him over a lime. What starts as arrogance on both their parts leads to protection when they get into an unexpected situation, than they find themselves fueled by more lust for one another then they ever expected. Yet as their lives unintentionally become thrown together, they get into a relationship where they’ll have to decide if they are willing to overcome their preconceived notions and fall for one another for good, or if they’ll have their past relationship hurts dictate what their future will hold.

I know the words I’m about to use do not really sound right together BUT they describe this novel to a T … as it was Erotically Adorable! *hehee* [Read more of Jess' Review and THREE TEASERS for this novel HERE]

  10. "Dream Singer" [The Dream Chronicles, Book 1] by J. A. Ferguson: 5 out of 5 stars!! One woman struggles to uphold her responsibilities in the face of her world crumbling around her while one man seeks vengeance for all he has lost. Together they become unlikely allies against those who plan to give them equal harm. Yet, can they do so without losing themselves and their hearts to one another in the process?

This epic journey begins with this enticing novel! Intense and spell binding, I was riveted from the very beginning when Durgan is plotting his “escape.” [Read more of Jess' Review and FOUR TEASERS for this novel HERE]

  11. "The Sheikh's Baby Scandal" [One Night With Consequences Series, Book 23] by Carol Marinelli: 5 out of 5 stars! Ever since Kedah was a young boy, he has been aware of his family’s rigid standards and the precarious nature of him becoming the Crown Prince he is supposed to be. Over the years, he grew into a man who cares deeply for his country but turned into a self-made billionaire playboy to ensure he was in control of his future. Now with his grandfather finally passed, he is the official Crown Prince, and he knows that soon the Accession Council will probably meet to overthrow him to his younger brother. Therefore, he brings in Felicia (a renowned PR representative) to become his London PA. During their time together, they grow closer than they typically do to others and soon the lines are blurring between their personal lives and business relationship. Then just when the Accession Council decides to go forward with their plans to thwart Kedah, Felicia gets a curve ball of her own … will they be able to deal with all the issues being thrown their way and still manage a “working relationship” or will everything come to a head and ruin their best laid plans.

Endearing. Spicy. [Read more of Jess' Review and THREE TEASERS for this novel HERE]

  12. "The Natural History of Us" [The Fine Art of Pretending Series, Book 2] by Rachel Harris: 5 out of 5 stars!! It had always been Peyton’s plan to attend Fairfield Academy (instead of being homeschooled) once she reached her Freshman year of high school. However, coming down with an unexpected illness not long before she began the school year definitely was not in her plan. Therefore, she begins at Fairfield Academy once she is in recovery during the middle of her Freshman year, which is the same day she meets Justin (all-round Fairfield Academy hottie, player, and baseball player). They come from completely different worlds but they are drawn together and fall into a sort-of relationship quickly. Yet, when things get tough, Justin makes a plan to brake them up. Yet, though Justin’s plan works and he goes back to his player ways, he regrets it more than anything else. So, during the last month, or so, of their Senior year when Peyton and Justin get thrown together for a school project Justin plans on laying it all on the line to win Peyton back for good. But will he be too late?

This touching sweet YA romance, will leave you reeling one moment and then contentedly rooting for Justin and Peyton the next. Unexpectedly charming. [Read more of Jess' Review and FOUR TEASERS for this novel HERE]

  13. "Under Her Skin" [Shifter Shield Series, Book 1] by Margo Bond Collins: 5 out of 5 stars!! Even though she grew up in a loving home, being a weresnake with adoptive human parents, Lindi has always felt like she was missing something. Nevertheless, she grows up to develop her natural abilities to help out children suffering from violent crimes to be their councilor. During one of her on the job outings, she meets a little girl who is a shifter too who realizes what Lindi truly is, which brings Lindi to find out that there are more shifters out there than just her. Yet, when she gets more involved in the “shifter world” Lindi realizes that who she is, a weresnake, is something that most shifters fear and feel they should be killed immediately. Instead though Lindi travels a rocky path between learning about her new life, assisting the shifter world to find an actual child killer who has access to her own case files, and falling into an unintentional relationship with someone who is suppose to be her “sworn enemy.” Will she be able to embrace a life she may not be ready for? And if she can, will she be able to “win over” the shifter world in order to stay alive for good or at least long enough to help out?

It’s been a long time since I read a novel written entirely in the first person POV, and I liked it. I was enraptured with this novel from the beginning from learning about how Lindi grew up with her adoptive family to how she copes with learning her new skills about her snake-half after finding out about the shifter world.
