The Books I'm Thankful For (so far) in 2019

It is Thanksgiving Day (the USA version of it at least) today! The tradition on my blog is to post a list of ALL the books I've read thus far this year that I've given my highest ratings to (5 out of 5 stars) today, which means I'm VERY Thankful for finding/reading them! Be forewarned though ... like the past two years' lists ALL of the novels listed below do not have their official book reviews from me posted and promoted yet because life has been very busy. 🙂 But as I post more of my book reviews this list will be updated so stay tuned!

➡️ So what are you getting out of this blog post you say? Well ... you are getting a glimpse of what my 5 star reads have been in 2019 thus far (as even though their book reviews haven't been posted the first drafts of their reviews HAVE been written), some of my book reviews of these novels/novellas (if the FULL book reviews have officially been posted than they'll be linked), links for you to check out these novels/novellas for yourself on Amazon, AND for the SECOND year running I have a We Are Thankful For Books collab video (at the bottom of this post) for you. In the video you'll see 9 Booktubers (including myself) talk about the books they are thankful for reading this year. Enjoy! 📚🥧

Here are My 5 Star Reads listed in the order of when I read them in 2019:
  1. "An Improper Encounter" [The Macalisters Series, Book 3] by Erica Taylor: 5 out of 5 stars A widow and a stranger fall head-over-heels into a whirlwind romance that change their lives forever. However, life is not always that simple, and when it comes to their future together fate keeps trying to make them stay apart…

This intensely sweet read reminded me of the “Becoming Jane” movie, as the love affair between William (Will) and Sarah certainly seem to mimic that movie a bit. Yet that only made me love this novel more. It felt real. [Jess' COMPLETE Book Review will be COMING SOON please STAY TUNED!]

  2. "The CEO Daddy Next Door" by Karen Booth: 5 out of 5 stars! Two disgruntled neighbors find that they have more in common than they originally expected. Yet, will they be able to bring their lives together in way that they want?

This novel ... oh my goodness where do I start. It just has soooo much heart. I am in love with this novel. **hahaa** It truly was an unexpected read because of how the main characters (Ashley & Marcus) in this novel truly had no pretense to their plotlines. They were who they said they were. [Jess' COMPLETE Book Review will be COMING SOON please STAY TUNED!]

  3. "Governess Gone Rogue" [Dear Lady Truelove Series, Book 3] by Laura Lee Guhrke: 5 out of 5 stars! Jamie has been a widower for 3 years now and has no plans on moving on. However, his twin sons take matters into their own hands and that all leads them to Amanda ....

Heart, wit, and a dash of dry humor gives you a tale about a woman coming into a family that is broken with only the hopes of doing a good job in her teaching position, but instead she unintentionally finds a family that she had always wanted if she has the heart to stay with them. I LOVE this novel and ... [Jess' COMPLETE Book Review will be COMING SOON please STAY TUNED!]

  4. "Waiting for Tom Hanks" by Kerry Winfrey: 5 out of 5 stars! Annie has been enamored with rom-com romances all of her life, because of her mother who always told her to not settle for anyone who doesn’t adore her. Therefore, Annie is waiting for her own Tom Hanks like man to show up, but will she be so focused about her fictional dream-man that she’ll miss out on what could possibly be true love?

This novel ... oh my ... this novel .... I am in LOVE with it. With its endearing characters, heartwarming and amusing scenes, and its overwhelming knowledge about rom-com movie trivia, I found it hard not to be swept away by this novel. Told from Annie’s perspective only, you follow as she stumbles through her own love life ... [Jess' COMPLETE Book Review will be COMING SOON please STAY TUNED!]

  5. "Demon Princess" [Demon Kingdom Fairy Tales Series, Book 1] by Kassandra Lynn: 5 out of 5 stars! Who knew that a mage could summon a demon as his “summon beast” .... definitely not Adriana (the next ruler in the Demon Kingdom) ... now she needs to find a way out of this mess.

As I didn’t know what to expect when I started this read, I found it be a surprising and intense read that held my attention from Adriana’s first summoning on. While it reminded me a bit of a Maxine Mansfield’s Academy Series in regards to this novel’s unique plot styles with an “epic quest” feel, it held its own ... [Jess' COMPLETE Book Review will be COMING SOON please STAY TUNED!]

  6. "One Night of Surrender" [Wicked Dukes Club Series, Book 2] by Darcy Burke: 5 out of 5 stars!! Follow this whirlwind romance that was ten years in the making!

Addicting – that is how good this novel was. Positively addicting as I only meant to read one chapter and instead I finished it 6 hours later. All of the characters were marvelous and I enjoyed how believable the plot was, even with the multitude of troupes that were thrown into this one novel. “One Night of Surrender” was the first that I had read within this series and while I did not feel lost at all, it hooked me ... [Jess' COMPLETE Book Review will be COMING SOON please STAY TUNED!]

  7. "Cold Heart, Warm Cowboy" [Cold River Ranch Series, Book 2] by Caitlin Crews: 5 out of 5 stars! When Hannah & Ty fell in love they were in the middle of the rodeo circuit and needed to keep their budding relationship turned marriage a secret. However, their relationship completely changed after Ty’s bull riding accident and two huge fights between them. Now eighteen months later, Hannah searches out Ty to find out why he never came to look for her after everything that happened ...

This compelling novel had me riveted from the very beginning, especially with its unique way of telling Hannah and Ty’s past and present relationships. It was truly an immersive experience ... [Jess' COMPLETE Book Review will be COMING SOON please STAY TUNED!]

  8. "Full Measures" [Flight & Glory Series, Book 1] by Rebecca Yarros: 5 out of 5 stars! The same day that December’s (Ember) world seems to end, a secret crush from her past (Josh) swoops in and helps her to pick up the pieces. Yet will December be able to overcome Josh’s secrets or will they just break her further?

This novel destroyed me ... and not always in the best way but I kept wanting to go back for more. I say that because I am a military wife, so I understand the reasoning behind December’s feelings towards the military and can see why after all she went through within this novel she finds it hard to let her heart go easily. I sympathized ... [Jess' COMPLETE Book Review will be COMING SOON please STAY TUNED!]

  9. "Untamed Delights" [The Phoenix Pack Series, Book 8] by Suzanne Wright: 5 out of 5 stars! Now that Mila (Milena) has learned her true mate decided to be with a “chosen mate” (who just happens to be her cousin) instead of her, she is making plans to move away for good. As she starts making her plans, Mila meets Dominic and her world changes in many ways but will everything fall into place the way she wants?

The only novel I had read within this series thus far was “Feral Sins,” book 1, and that was in 2012. If you have a chance, I recommend you checking out my review for it as I did give Book 1 -- 5 out of 5 stars too. Nevertheless, as you can see, I didn’t keep track of this series and now I am kinda regretting it as THESE CHARACTERS ARE AMAZING!! Add in ... [Jess' COMPLETE Book Review will be COMING SOON please STAY TUNED!]

  10. "Full Contact" by Cassie Cole: 5 out of 5 stars! At the start of her last year in college, Roberta’s (Babs) life takes a couple of unexpected turns. Because of the unplanned changes, she becomes the personal trainer for three top players of her college’s football team. Yet, because and despite her close daily proximity to all three of these teammates and friends feelings abound as their relationships grow ... but someone is determined to ruin all four of their lives by any means necessary. Will they be able to pull through and come out the end of their senior years unscathed or will everything come crashing down even their relationships?

Oh my god ... I think I am in love, with this novel, with all the main characters (Roberta, Feña, Danny, & Lance), and just ... everything. **happy sigh** This novel has it all! Spicy. Steamy. [Jess' COMPLETE Book Review will be COMING SOON please STAY TUNED!]
