My Book Review :4 out of 5 stars, two lost souls find one another at an inopportune time and try to make the most of it. However, when both of their lies come out, than more lies come into play, will their true feelings be able to become revealed once everything is on the line?
Seductive. Intense. Fast-paced. It keeps you on your toes from the very beginning and hooks you once you realize that through they have an immediate connection it’s because of their past experiences that they fight it from the start. Watching/reading about how they struggle to come to terms with their feelings for one another was very sweet and I didn’t want it to end.
Alix (Alixander) is an exiled King secretly trying to get back to his throne. Leila is a woman who has a lot of relatives who abandoned her and her mother (who recently passed away); now trying to hold her mother’s perfumer business together and unintentionally is swept up into Alix’s world. They were so right for one another in this novel, that no matter how much they lied I still liked them. Their strong personalities are what kept me riveted to their novel. I couldn’t see one without the other.
I recommend this novel to those looking for an engaging contemporary romance!

My Q&A with Aoife Marie Sheridan :
Jess : Please describe your Saskia Trilogy in one to five sentences.
Aoife : It’s a story of a young woman finding herself in the most extreme situations. Learning to love, accept loss, and fight for what she believes in. It’s a journey of self-discovery and understanding no matter how powerful we may think we are, things can change in the blink of an eye.
Jess : Which usually comes first for you, the character(s) story or the idea for the novel?
Aoife : The story comes first for me not the characters. It’s a time, place and situation that will plaque me until I write it down. At present I have twenty one books I still wish to write and yet the stories I want to tell still come. I hope one day I get to tell them all.
Jess : Please describe "Hunters" [Demon Series, Book 1] in 75 words or less.
Aoife : A story about a damaged soul, living in a world where angels and demons are real. After losing her whole family Abigail spirals into a state of depression that doesn’t allow her to see any beauty in her life or the world. Her path of self-destruction affects the ones closest to her, especially Daniel (Zee) who loves her deeply. He is her salvation and her downfall.
Jess : Is there any differences and/or similarities between Sarajane from your Saskia Trilogy and Bellona from your Saskia Trilogy?
Aoife : Sarajane and Bellona are similar in ways. If Bellona had been given a chance in live she would have been a good person, she still would have been a spoilt princess but nothing like the way she turned out. She has a softness like Sarajane but her childhood has turned her into a bitter and cruel person. Sarajane was given a good start and now as she faces her difficulties she does so with a strong will. Her foundations are strong, Bellona’s weren’t.
Jess : What sparked the idea for "Hunters?"
Aoife : It came to be when I went to see a healer that my friend recommended to me. After our healing session he spoke of angels so vividly that I was left a little in awe. And where there is good, there is also evil. So the healer speaking of angels made me think of demons and so hunters the story was born.
Jess : What was your favorite chapter (or part) to write in a novel and why?
Aoife : The whipping Scene with the queen Bellona was a very hard scene to write. I loved it because it challenged me in ways. I needed so much emotion as I wrote it and had to bring it all to the top before I started writing. I wanted the reader to really feel not just the servant’s pain but Bellona’s also. I hope I did.
Jess : In regards to The Saskia Trilogy, if you could write it all over again, would you change anything about it?
Aoife : Not one thing. Yes I look at it now four years later and feel I could maybe do better, but that story was right at the time I wrote it, so I refuse to change it.
Jess : Out of all of the secondary characters within "Hunters," do you have one or two favorites so far? If so, who are they and can you tell us why?
Aoife : Cathy is one of my favorites, her sarcasm covers up her pain in life, yet she can be pretty funny in a cruel sort of way. But the cracks are so visible and she tries so hard to cover them up. She’s a complex character and one I think everyone can identify with at some stage in their lives. I know I can.
Jess : How many books have you written? Which is your favorite and why?
Aoife : I have six written books. Oh that’s not fair, I can’t pick a favorite, but since your twisting my arm I would say "Drowning in Lies," my newest book. I just love the world and characters.
Jess : Do you have any other projects in the works? If so, can you share a little of your current work with us?
Aoife : "Drowning in Lies" [Seven of Kings Series, Book 1] is my next release.

Aoife has a passion for writing poetry or in her eyes her journal entries. It was something she did throughout her teens and into her twenties. Aoife won first place for two of her poems and had them published at a young age of just nineteen.
Aoife's first book "Eden Forest" (Part one of the Saskia Trilogy) took first place with Writers Got Talent 2013. Aoife continues to write tales of fantasy and romance.

My Book Review :3 out of 5 stars, Caitlyn’s life changed the day she learned her sister and her brother-in-law’s (who she secretly had a crush on since she first met him) plane crashed killing them both. At that time, she was devastated to lose them but since she was pregnant with the couples’ babies (triplets) because she was their surrogate, it made it all more drastic. Therefore, from that point on her life changed because she lost her family but went from Aunt/surrogate to mother of those babies in an instant. Now, about a year later, her life radically changes again when her brother-in-law suddenly comes back to the living (he was missing never dead) and to reclaim his life, which is hard to do when you have amnesia. Together they find ways to overcome it all, and become very close, but as the truth about his past and his marriage finally comes to light, will they still be able to deal with everything that comes their way together or will it be all too much to handle?
I’m really not sure of my own views about this novel. I am striving to be thrilled about its plot but it’s just so hard. I mean I REALLY liked Caitlyn and Antonio (Falco) together and how they managed their relationship once he came back to his home. I also liked both of their characters’ self-worth, I guess you would call it, and how they go about making amends to one another after the big reveal happens. Nevertheless, I am still trying to overcome Antonio and his wife’s (Caitlyn’s sister) backstory. To say I wasn’t happy about it is an understatement but I do get that the way it’s written gives the novel a basis of reality to it instead of it being more of a fairytale style. I get that, I just wanted more of the fairytale I guess. Or to have Antonio have noticed Caitlyn more prior to his accident.
Overall, though, I have to say this novel was well written and thought out. It covered a majority of the bases and kept you wanting more.
I recommend this novel to those looking for a unique take on the surrogate mother contemporary romance.
"Caitlyn and I are going shopping today," Antonio announced out of the blue when everyone finished eating.
"We are?" Did they have some Christmas presents to buy that she'd forgotten about? "It's two days until Christmas. The stores will be insane."
"I believe I have adequately demonstrated my ability to dispense with holiday crowds," he countered with a smirk.
"So that's your solution to everything now? Just buy out the whole store?"
"When I find something that works, I stick with it. You might consider thanking me for that." His dark gaze flickered with promise, and yesterday, such innuendo might have made her blush, but she was a worldly woman now. So she stuck her tongue out at him instead. ~ within Chapter 10

My Book Review :3 out of 5 stars. Two single parents (a man and a woman) find out that the children they brought home from the hospital aren’t actually theirs two weeks after the babies were born. When the children are finally switched back, they realize that it won’t be any easy fix, in more ways than one. Soon they come to the conclusion that helping one another out would be the best solution. But what will it cost them?
Oye … I so wanted to love this novel but it was so hard to keep finding the good points. In truth, I find this novel more adapt to a sort-of “real life” situation that you could get, if the odds were stacked against the couple like they were for Giovanni & Valentina. I felt for them, I really did. Being a mother myself, I couldn’t imagine what it would be like to bond with a child who you thought was yours than to find out your actual child was with another family. I would be devastated even if you get your own child back, I agree with Valentina that I would love both children and feel like they were both my own. Therefore, what Giovanni & Valentina do to counteract the bad circumstance is help one another co-parent the babies to help them overcome the situation. It’s a wonderful idea and because each are single parents, it brought them closer together too.
I liked how their relationship grew and flourished. In addition, I appreciated how this novel was a sweet romance in a very PG-way so Valentina didn’t feel like she was compromising her morals (as she had before when conceiving her son) while her romance blossomed with Giovanni. They really were a great partnership.
Now while I might get some grief about my next comment it still holds true, I would have given this novel a higher scoring if Giovanni’s ex-wife (and mother to his son) didn’t have a change of heart. I know I’m bad in thinking that/feeling that way but there is no way around it. I am happy with how it played out on a moral level, like if I heard about this in real life and the mother changed her mind I would be rooting for her like crazy. Yet, in a story like this you, at times, feel like you are the heroine and because of that it was hard to be like Valentina (who encouraged the relationship between the ex-wife and baby) as I would probably be jealous of the other mother feeling like she was taking away my son (even though he wasn’t mine by blood). But this is why I feel that its plot has a realistic-ish feel.
Nevertheless, I DO recommend this novel to those looking for a sweet Italian romance!

My Book Review :3.5 out of 5 stars! The Hendrix family is back in action in this riveting contemporary romance! Ms. Mallery does it again! From getting updates from past characters in Fool's Gold to learning about new characters moving into town, this quirky romance brings love into the lives of the last two brothers in Fool's Gold's Hendrix family, Ford & Kent. Both brothers are complete opposites and so are their love interests.
The main couple is Ford, an ex-Navy Seal who is now part owner in a new security firm in Fool's Gold, and Isabel, a woman who use to have a major crush on Ford when she was a teenager. After Ford's engagement to Isabel's older sister ended years ago and he joined the Navy Isabel wrote to him from when she's between the ages of 14 to 24, at first in hopes it was that he'll return her feelings and then over the years the letters turn into diary entries of sorts because Ford never once responds to them. What Isabel doesn't realize is that Ford has memorized those letters over the years and while he never responded to any of them, they have helped him heal over the years giving him hope. So when they both move back to town, about 14 years after Ford left Fool's Gold, Isabel is roped into a "fake" relationship because Ford doesn't want to deal with his mother's relationship schemes. But as their relationship continues and turns into something more, they have to find out if what they share is really true love or just a really good friendship (with benefits) to pass the time.
The secondary couple is Kent, a single dad and a high school math teacher, and Consuelo, an ex-special forces military personnel who is now part owner in the new security firm with Ford. They meet because Kent's son Reese is taking a martial arts class where Consuelo is his teacher. They both have an instant attraction but because of their past backgrounds, they are unsure as to how to start a relationship between them. It makes for a lot of false starts before they agree to begin something with one another, and even that is hard for them both to get into at first but once they stop letting their pasts dictate their futures everything comes together for them.
It’s hard to choose which couple I liked best as they both had their good points and annoyances at times, yet they were all wonderful characters and I really enjoyed whom they all ended up with! From the very beginning, it is easy for the readers to tell where Ford and Isabel’s storyline was going. Yet, because of how charismatic and quirky the couple is together, I was very intrigued by their HEA. While Kent and Consuelo appear to be opposites in every way, I was endeared from the beginning by their vulnerabilities that they have when it comes to building a relationship with one another. In addition, I appreciated how Kent didn’t give up easily when it came to keeping his relationship going with her and how determined he was to be the man for Consuelo no matter the cost. Everyone hooked me from the start and I’m so happy I read this novel!
The only flaw that I found in this novel was how the ending completed both their HEAs but left me feeling like there should be more, like an epilogue or something. Nevertheless, I DO recommend this novel to those who are fans of this series (like me) and/or to those looking for a charming contemporary romance (as you don’t need to have read the series to get into this novel)!
