4 out of 5 stars! This is the first book I've read from this series and I am a little addicted already to how the author shaped the tale. I hope the others are just as good. I loved Dayan & Corinne as a couple! They were soo cute! Great plot! I liked how the writing flowed from one persons thoughts to the next like you were watching a movie - very clever!

"Bending the Rules" [Sisterhood Diaries Series, Book 2] by Susan Andersen -- Jase is a 'don't bend or brake the rules' kind of detective. He has to be with his family history of living in and out of the slammer, so he knows what it takes to stay on that straight and narrow path. And one of those is staying away from Poppy. Jase believes her to be a rich girl who really doesn't do a lot with her life. But in reality Poppy grew up in a hippie commune and does more for underprivileged teenagers then she does for herself. When a group of teens tag the buildings of the businesses that Poppy works for, she asks that instead of sending the teens to juvie have them fix up the buildings by painting them again and creating a mural in a group that she'll monitor. Now that it's been approved and Detective Jase is told to keep tabs on the group too, how long will they be able to stay apart for?

1.5 out of 5 stars! Good plot! I liked some of the characters. However .... I was so bored with it I couldn't finish the book ... I ended it on page 224. The novel had to many subplots that it makes it overly slow. Then when I put the book down for the night or whatever it could take a full day or so just for me to get back to it again ... and that was only because I was forcing myself to try to finish it.

You might have better luck and actually like the book ... but it definitely was not the book for me.

"My Sister's Keeper" by Jodi Picoult -- It is about the Fitzgerald family and how they deal and have dealt with one of their children living with and hoping to beat cancer. The thing is though when they first realize what is wrong with their young daughter, instead of waiting for a donor to come along for her they decide on having another child whom would be a perfect genetic match for her, and in doing so they have Anna. Anna is now thirteen and has gone through countless surgeries and procedures in attempt to help save her sister, but the time has come where she says she's had enough. So, she sells her locket, talks to a lawyer, and sues her parents for the rights to her own body. The only question now is how much more can this family take and will this act of freedom/survival (or whatever you want to call it) tare this family apart?

5 out of 5 stars! Written from the point-of-view of everyone involved with this case made me love the book even more. For anyone who would like to read a story about the love family's can share. It was touching ... moving ... made me cry like a baby ... and I would definitely read it again!

For more information on this book or any of Jodi's other books, then please check out her website.

Also ... check out the movie based on this novel:

Likenesses Between the Movie & Book:
  • They both made me cry like a baby at the end of them!
  • Both portrayed the touching relationships between the characters.
Differences Between the Movie & Book:
  • They have different endings from each other.
    • Truthfully I like both the movie and the book and their endings ... and it could be because I read the book in July of 2009 and I just watched the movie ... but I liked the book's ending better.
  • The courtroom scene is different in the movie compared to the book.
    • Again I liked the book's scene better
That's just me though ... you might like the movie's version better. *shrug* Either way .. comment and let me know what you thought of either or both of them.

Just a little change, Small to say the least, Both a little scared, Neither one prepared ...

Pages: 386 | Release Date: August 18, 2009

"Dreamfever" [Fever Series, Book 4] by Karen Marie Moning -- Mac starts finally getting answers to some of the questions that have been haunting her. She learns a bit about whom her birth mother was, the illusive Lord Master divulges to her about his relationship with her sister, and she starts growing into her sidhe-seer senses.

However, when she learns more about the prophesy (which seems everyone but her knows the details about), she finds that she’s scared to grow more into her sidhe-seer senses as some say she might end up dooming the world instead of saving it.

In addition, during a time when Barrons is saving Mac they get closer, the only problem is he’s still not giving up his secrets (especially the details of whom or what he is) and that could break their partnership for good.

4.5 out of 5 stars!! Karen just kept pulling out all the stops in this novel, making it highly action packed! I will say that I was sad at the very end and I hope that everything gets fixed at the beginning of the next book. *crossing fingers* I cannot wait for "Shadowfever" (the final fifth novel) to come out in December 2010!

For more information on this book, series, and/or any of Karen's other books, then please check out her website.

Jessica's Musings:
  • Who or what is Jericho Barrons?
    • If your curious as I am/was about who Barrons is then READ THIS BOOK!! However, it doesn't go right out and say "Yes this is Barrons" I have a good feeling of what he is now!!
  • About Mac:
    • I still think she's part fae!
    • Possibly she is the reincarnated version of the Unseelie King's concubine?

Love of two is one, Here but now they're gone, Came the last night of sadness

Pages: 327 | Release Date: September 16, 2008

"Faefever" [Fever Series, Book 3] by Karen Marie Moning -- In this third novel, the Sinsar Dubh (a million-year-old book that has the power to control what happens in both the Fae and human worlds) is getting closer to Mac, the only problem is in doing so she's finding that this might be more then just a book. Now she's trying to create a bigger playing field for herself by trying not to put all of her eggs in one basket. She's doing this by looking for other ways to find the book and to find information on the things/people she doesn't know much about, which sadly is just about everything...

Again ... 5 out of 5 stars!! Plenty of twists and turns to keep your attention! For the ending, all I can really say is: WOW! I just can’t believe it went there, and I can’t wait to see what will happen to Mac next!

For more information on this book, series, and/or any of Karen's other books, then please check out her website.

--------

Jessica's Musings:
  • About Mac:
    • I have been wondering if she might be part Fae [sometimes I think from the Seelie Court].
    • Maybe that old women is related to her somehow? Or possibly the old women killed her birth mother?
    • Is Mac's birth mother the women from her dreams? I think it's a possibility.
  • Who or what is Jericho Barrons?
    1. He's that boy that Mac found the notes written from/about.
    2. He's a vampire. [I have many reasons for this ... but to sum it up I'll say he behaves like one.]
    3. He's the Unseelie King.
    4. He's BOTH my first and third predictions.

"Bloodfever" [Fever Series, Book 2] by Karen Marie Moning -- In this second novel, Mac is still racking up the number of people who are out to get her or who would love to blame her for any kind of wrongdoing. After recovering from her first fight with Mallacé, Mac has to deal with a vengeful woman, a seductive Fae prince, two curious cops, a merciless brother-of-a-mobster, a distraught father, and more all while still looking for the Sinsar Dubh (a million-year-old book that has the power to control what happens in both the Fae and human worlds). However, Mac isn’t as sweet as she originally was and has learned more about herself to stand up to those who’re out against her, along with possibly seeing whom she can trust. The only problem is everyone keeps changing out of the roles she wants to appointed them and it may be hard to keep up with whom is on what side of the good-versus-bad line, especially when everything isn’t always black and white.

5 out of 5 stars!! Sooo much better then the first book! Mac has developed into a great character! Plus ... my biggest issue with the first novel was all of the foreshadowing that made pauses throughout it, which is completely solved in this second novel. I mean there is foreshadowing still but the story keeps flowing around it, which I tremendously enjoyed! =0)

"Graffiti Girl" by Kelly Parra ~~ Angel is an artist or at least that is her big dream in life. But when the results of a school competition turn out that she's not on the winning committee, she gets mad and feels hurt .... not thinking her style is good enough. Then Migel -- leader of a graffiti crew called Reyes Del Norte -- shows her his world of art, turf wars, and crew life. She just can't leave behind who she used to be though, and now she's torn between two worlds and two guys. With both worlds and guys being so different she'll have to decide what path will be the one for her ... and just possibly find herself in the process.

2.5 out of 5 stars. It's a teen romp that has bold characters but falls a little flat during the plot (at least for me). So slow-paced that I had to force myself to finish the book. Good ending but it could have been better.
