Made the Grade: The Santina Crown Series, Book 2

Format: Paperback | Pages: 187 | Release Date: August 2012 | Publisher: Harlequin Presents | Obtained: The Recycled Reader -- Used Bookstore

"The Sheikh's Heir" [The Santina Crown Series, Book 2] by Sharon Kendrick

My Book Summary : Cinderella lands a Prince after all!!

Cinderella (Ella) has had to put up with people judging her all of her life because of her family, especially because of her father, but when she over hears Hassan (the Sheikh of Kashamak) saying judgmental and rude things about everyone in her family (and her by association) she gets mad. So mad that when she first notices him on the dance floor afterwards all she wants to do is punch him despite his authority and sexiness. Therefore, it's not totally surprising that not long after they meet, even though Ella does get swept away in his arms for a time, she tosses a glass of champagne in his face.

After that, all bets are off between them as their anger and sexual frustration turn to an all time high, leaving them both with a little surprise and many complications...

My Book Review : 3.5 out of 5 stars--two people deal with unexpected circumstances while overcoming personal issues of their own. I really liked how this novel went about bring these two together and then how they find ways to choose to stay together despite everything. The last chapter was great in wrapping everything up!

However, I am curious as to what happened to Hassan's brother, mostly because it was mentioned so much in the novel of Hassan wondering what happened to him yet it was never answered.

I recommend this novel to anyone who likes dramatic contemporary romances!

Author's Novel Extras : Excerpt from The Sheikh's Heir | GLORIOUS TUSCANY | SUMMER, GLITTER AND GLAMOUR | USA TODAY BESTSELLER LIST

Book Teaser(s) :
'What's your name?'
Ella wished that her breasts would stop tingling and likewise the molten throb of lust deep in her belly. She didn't want to feel like this about a man who had talked about her family in a way which had made them all sound like some sort of gutter animals. She stared at him, defying him to contradict her. 'My name is...Cinderella.'
Hassan gave a slow smile. 'Is it now?' So she wanted to play, did she? Well, that was fine by him. He liked games---particularly of the flirty, sexual nature. ~ within Chapter 1

"With the Boys in the Band" by Marie Medina

My Book Summary : A few months ago, Alicia began her dream job by becoming an assistant for the metal band Serration. In doing so, she has gotten to know the guys in the band really well but when she finds out that Emerson, the bands keyboardist, is interested in her and has been for a while now she is very interested in getting to know him better. Therefore, when Emerson invites her to his best friend and fellow band member, Vince's, house as a special guest Alicia immediately agrees.

However, when spending one-on-one time with the band and Emerson, Alicia finds her suspicions about Emerson's relationship with Vince confirmed, they are in love with each other but don't know how to acknowledge it to each other more than just friendship. Now Alicia feels like it's her responsibility to bring these two together for good. Yet in doing so will she ruin her own growing relationships with them or will they all be thrown by the new opportunities that now present themselves to them?

My Book Review : 4.5 out of 5 stars!! Two best friends learn the depth of their friendship and love while opening up their hearts to someone else and something new. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this novel with its hot hard rock male leads to its unexpected paranormal twists. In addition, it keeps you on your toes with its hot, spicy, and erotic sex scenes! I loved reading about how the relationship between these three bloomed into something special for all three of them.

I just wish there was more to read about! I recommend this novel to anyone who likes ménage, M/M/F and/or M/M romances. Especially ménage romances involving werewolves.

Book Teaser(s) :
Gesturing toward the door, Vince said, “Go eat. Talk with Alicia. Take a walk or something.”
Incredulous, Emerson could do nothing but gape at Vince. “She seems like a good listener, but these topics might be a bit too hefty.”
Vince linked his hands behind his neck. “Do you wish I hadn’t told you?”
“No. In both cases.” He sighed in frustration as dread settled in his stomach. “I’m not sure how to put one foot in front of the other right now, let alone tell the girl I just slept with about the two big revelations that came my way a few moments ago.”
“I think she’ll be a better listener than you think.” Vince zipped his jeans and grabbed a shirt from the dresser. “Go find out.”
Emerson watched him walk away and out the door. He wanted to stop him, yet once he was gone he managed to breathe a little easier. “Go find out?” he muttered. “It’s a fucking mad tea party around here.”
But he knew she was upstairs waiting for him, so he turned his steps that way. All of her potential reactions swirled in his head as he forced himself up the stairs and back to his bedroom. ~ within Chapter 4

Feasted On: The Rocker That Holds Me by Terri Anne Browning

Format: Kindle Edition | File Size: 227 KB | Release Date: January 2013 | Publisher: Self-Published | Obtained: Amazon.com

"The Rocker That Holds Me" by Terri Anne Browning

My Book Summary : Ember (Emmie) grew up in a nightmare of a life because of her drug/alcohol using and physically abusing mother. Her only hope growing up was Nikolas (Nik)--and his best friends/band mates (Jesse, Drake, & Shane)--who ever since she was five-years-old (even though they are only 10 years older than her) made sure she was taken care of and protected as best as they were able to. Even when their band finally makes it big, they keep in touch and take care of her as much as they can. Then when Emmie was 15-years-old her mother dies from an overdose, the guys step in to take care of her even more so by bringing her on the road with them for good.

Now 6 years later, Emmie does her best to return the favor by taking care of the guys the best she can by just keeping up with their schedules and making sure everything is covered for them. Yet even though she loves them all and they all take care of her too making her feel like their little sister, her feelings have grown even stronger for Nik over the years and he now owns her heart. However, will she ever be able to open up and let him know how she feels? Especially when she suddenly gets sick and it seems like something she cannot shake, will this be the perfect time to lay it all on the line...

My Book Review : 4 out of 5 stars--love finds a girl who never thought she could have what she truly ever wanted. The relationship between Emmie & Nik is moving, potent, intense, and very sweet. I loved reading about their shared past since it made their current struggles of being in love with each other all the better. Plus, it helped that all the guys in the band were really great characters to read about. I can't wait to see if there will be any more about these cast of characters, hopefully soon! =0)

I recommend this novel to anyone who likes contemporary romances about rock stars!

Book Teaser(s) :
Grimacing I wiped my eyes with the backs of my hands and noticed that Jesse’s shirt was soaked with tears and snot. “Oh. Sorry about your shirt.”
He pulled it over his head and used it to dry my face. “It’s only a shirt, honey. There, now that’s better. My pretty Emmie is back again.” He pressed a kiss to my forehead and moved so that I was again sitting on my own and he was standing. “I need coffee.”
Jesse went about making a huge pot of potent coffee. The smell filled the whole house and soon Drake was stumbling into the kitchen, half blind with sleep as he poured himself a cup of Jesse’s special blend. The stuff was so thick that it was like swallowing Jell-O. I only ever drank it once. My stomach had cramped for hours and I felt like I was on speed. Never touched the stuff again!
Nik was just joining us, a pair of sleep pants hanging off his lean hips, when Shane came in with two shopping bags. He seemed more out of breath now than after his run. “I bought all the grits they had, Em. One of each type. I didn’t know if we had cheese or what kind you wanted. So I got several different kinds. And I hope that’s enough bacon.”
I threw my arms around him, not caring that he was still drenched in sweat. “Thanks, Shane.” He had completely gone overboard but he was so sweet, getting me what I wanted because I had been so upset.
He kissed my cheek. “Anything as long as you are happy, sweetheart.”
“What’s that about grits?” Nik asked, adding sugar to his mug of coffee. “I’m starving.”
“Em wants some bacon and cheese grits.” Jesse said as he opened a pack of bacon and tossed it into a pan on the stove. “So Em is getting bacon and cheese grits.” He winked at me as he started putting the rest of the groceries away. ~ within Chapter 10

Made the Grade: The Farewell Season by Ann Herrick

Format: Kindle Edition | File Size: 1024 KB | Release Date: May 2011 | Publisher: Puddletown Publishing Group | Obtained: Amazon.com

"The Farewell Season" by Ann Herrick

My Book Summary : Eric is dealing with a lot ever since his father died about four months ago, anger, grief, and the unknown of how his life is going to be from now on. But mostly he's not really dealing with those feelings at all yet bottling them up. Therefore, now that football training has begun he's doing things he's never done before...lashing out at his coach, fighting with his best friend, and finding disenchantment with football. Things get better for him once he starts a friendship with Glynnie, a high school columnist, but can he work through some of his anger and grief before he makes decisions that will change his life...

My Book Review : 3 out of 5 stars. A teenage guy deals with the death of his father. I liked the way this novel shows Eric's grief and how Glynnie, unintentionally and intentionally, helps him deal with it.

I recommend this to anyone who likes dramatic YA novels that have a slight romance to them.

Author's Novel Extras : Are you living in your Soulplace? | A Weighty Romance | Cross Genre

Book Teaser(s) :
"They don't give up, do they?" Glynnie asked.
"They're relentless," I said. "They go through all the effort of swimming upstream no matter what, just so they can spawn and die."
"Too bad some fathers don't do that," Glynnie said sarcastically. She clapped her hand over her mouth. "Oh, Eric ... I didn't mean ... I was thinking of my ... oh, me and my big mouth."
"No problem," I said quickly. I knew what she meant. Still, the mood was broken and we both knew it. It was too late to go back and recapture that rare moment of feeling carefree.
"I really messed up. I'm sorry. You brought me all the way up here, for a few minutes it actually took my mind off everything, and I blow it."
I couldn't stand the way Glynnie's brief look of happiness faded into a gloomy sorrow that seemed to weigh her down. "There's only one way to deal with such incompetence." I scooped Glynnie up in my arms, carried her over to the fingerling collecting area and held her over the water.
"And now, you will swim with the fishes." I'm not sure how mob-like I sounded, but it was the best I could do on short notice. I guess my plan worked, because Glynnie's shrieks were of laughter, not terror.
I had to put her down. Her laughter was catching. I tried to hold it in, but I couldn't.
We both stopped, looked at each other, then there was another spurt of laughs and snorts. ~ within Chapter 9

Feasted On: Play With Me by Piper Shelly

Format: Kindle Edition | File Size: 287 KB | Release Date: December 2012 | Publisher: Self-Published | Obtained: Amazon.com

"Play With Me" by Piper Shelly

My Book Summary : Liza & Tony have been best friends since third grade when they bonded over their mutual love for Tom & Jerry cartoons. Over the years, Liza's feelings for Tony have grown into a major infatuation. Now years later, a few weeks before Liza has to go back to high school, she finds that their relationship has changed once Tony returns from his summer soccer camp. All because Tony likes another girl--one who is into soccer as much as he is!

Therefore, as a way to get Tony's focus more on her again, Liza decides on trying out for their co-ed soccer team. However, her plans may backfire when instead of gaining Tony's focus, Liza gains the focus of Ryan the hottest guy in school and Captain of the soccer team! Nevertheless, is she willing to give up her longtime love for her best friend just for a guy who can sweep her away with a heated glance? Or will her life get even more complicated?

My Book Review : 4 out of 5 stars--a sweetly intense short story about a girl who thinks she's in love with her best friend but when she starts hanging out with a guy who pushes all her buttons she finds him hard to resist. This novel was passionate, intense, and charming when it came to Liza's growing relationship Ryan, along with the friendship between Liza & Tony. Ryan was a keeper from the beginning but I liked how the novel plays out the conflicts that come between the characters. The plot was a little like "Catching Jordan" except for who the heroine ends up with at the very end, and of course that the sport the guys like to play in this novel is soccer not football.

My only big issue with this novel was how rushed it all felt at times. Yet that could be because I just didn't want it to end. I can't wait to read Tony's novel!

I recommend this novel to anyone who likes reading YA romances!

Book Teaser(s) :
Suddenly his lips twitched.
“I can feel you staring at me,” he said in the softest wake-up voice I’d ever heard. “I only hope you’re a girl and not one of the drunken guys.”
My breath caught in my chest. I jerked my hand back from him. Not taking his arm away from his face yet, he reached down with his other hand. And slowly ran his palm over my naked thigh in the direction of my bum.
“Yep, definitely female,” he purred.
In panic, I held his hand in place. “Move another inch, Hunter, and you’re a dead man.”
“Matthews?” Surprised amusement filled his chuckle. Unlike me, he seemed relaxed enough.
A strange heat rose from my gut to my head as I studied his hand on my bare skin. Wearing nothing but jeans and a black wrist watch, he looked more like a guy from the many posters on the walls of Caroline Davis’ bedroom than the boy I knew from school.
I felt awkward for not letting go of his hand on my leg, but I was too scared he’d continue the path he’d started if I did.
“Tell me, Matthews,” he said as he dropped his arm to the pillow and tilted his head to study me with warm eyes. “Why do I have you in my bed, when I’m not allowed to touch you?”
“I didn’t know there were strawberries in the soda,” I whined.
His brow furrowed, his lips pursed. “Come again?” ~ within Chapter 5

Disappointmentville: Calhoun Chronicles, Book 1

Format: Paperback | Pages: 391 | Release Date: May 2008 | Publisher: Mira Books | Obtained: My Mom (previously read it, loved it, and gave it to me saying I had to read it)

"The Charm School" [Calhoun Chronicles, Book 1] by Susan Wiggs

My Book Summary : Isadora has always been an "odd bird" compared to the rest of her family. They all thought of her as too smart, not pretty enough, socially inept, and the daughter/sibling who was destined to become the spinster of the family. Well, when she is given an opportunity to set sail for Rio, and learn of places she has only read about, she makes sure she'll be able to join the voyage by any means necessary even if that means going over the Captain's head to do so...

Captain Ryan Calhoun came from a good southern family name, and walked away from it all so he could help his best friend and former slave, Journey, find a way to earn enough money too free Journey's family. Yet all their plans could go to pieces, accidentally by Isadora if they aren't careful...

Will Ryan & Isadora be able to find some common ground between the two of them so both their dream will come true? Or will they both be hurt during the process?

My Book Review : 2 out of 5 stars. Two people try to accomplish some of their life goals while slowly falling in love along the way.

I wanted to like this novel so much. My mother gave me my copy saying she absolutely loved it, so maybe my hopes for the novel were too high. I dunno. All I can say is it wasn't anything like I had hoped for and I was very disappointed with it.

My biggest issue with this novel was with how much Isadora dislikes herself, yet how unwilling she is to change her ways. Then when Ryan steps in, I'll admit not always doing the changes in the most polite ways, to help her out she freaks. It was all very annoying, making it so I gave up reading the novel fully by Chapter 18 and just skimmed the rest of it to see how it ended.

I recommend this novel to only those who are fans of Susan Wiggs.

- On a side note -
I am curious to see how Isadora & Ryan decided to live their lives since--by the end of the novel it seems--they'd be living on the run. =0/

The latest cover is great though! =0)

Book Teaser(s) :
"Thank you, Captain," she murmured.
"Now that we're ashore, you should call me Ryan."
"I couldn't possibly."
He gestured at his mother and aunt who crossed the patio ahead of them. "The other ladies do."
"Your ladies of the night, I presume," she said tartly.
"That would be 'ladies of the afternoon,'" he explained. "And for the record, there was only one. You are keeping score, are you not?"
She made a strange wheezing sound, but couldn't seem to get a word out.
"I meant my mother and aunt," he said, taking pity on her. "They call me by my given name."
"They're related to you."
He winked at Isadora. "That can be arranged."
Her gaze darted away. "You shouldn't tease."
Maybe I wasn't. The idea was too absurd and too startling to voice out loud, yet the instant it occurred to him, it sent down roots that reached deep inside to a tender place in his heart. ~ within Chapter 13

Feasted On: Bad Rep by A. Meredith Walters

Format: Kindle Edition | File Size: 641 KB | Release Date: December 2012 | Publisher: Self-Published | Obtained: Amazon.com

"Bad Rep" by A. Meredith Walters

My Book Summary : Maysie finds that her shopping habits have gotten worse when her parents inform her that they are no longer paying for her credit card bill, especially now that she's about $3,500 in debt. Therefore, to pay it off she gets a second job for the summer as a waitress at a local bar.

While working there she meets Jordan, one of the hot bartenders who is also the President in one her college's fraternities--Pi Sig--and a fantastic drummer in a band called Generation Rejects, a guy who she has an instant attraction and connection with that is very much reciprocated!

You would think everything would be fine for their budding relationship .... right?

Well, that might be true if he didn't already have a girlfriend! Especially one who he has dated for over three years and happens to be Maysie's sorority--Chi Delta--President!

However, can they overcome their desire to be together so no one will be hurt? Or will everything in their lives fall apart because of their connection?

My Book Review : 4 out of 5 stars! See how two people who have an instant connection to each other deal with the difficulties that happen when they want someone that they can't have yet cannot seem to say no too. Even though you don't wish this situation on anyone, you can't help but root for Maysie & Jordan and wish the best for them. They're wonderful together. However, I did get annoyed with Maysie at times, because of how she kept running from Jordan when the times get tough. Yet I did understand her reasoning and I'm happy with how the novel played out--from beginning to end.

I recommend this to anyone who likes contemporary romances, especially ones that have a LOT of drama and are a bit erotic.

- On a side note -
I loved Maysie's close friends, Jordan's band members, and the employees at the bar--all of them were great secondary characters and I hope that they might get their own novels at some point. *crossing fingers*

Plus, I LOVED the snarky & humorous commentary!!

Author's Novel Extras : An interview I did... | A Little Look at Jordan | Jordan is a January book boyfriend!!!

Book Teaser(s) :
“My friends here want to apply for the wait staff positions. Jordan, this is Maysie Ardin and Riley Walker. Guys, this is Jordan Levitt.”
“Charmed.” Riley deadpanned before taking the paper from his hand. Jordan smirked then handed the other one to me.
“Here ya go, Maysie,” he said, his eyes twinkling; as though he knew how much it turned me on to hear him say my name.
I cleared my throat a few times before answering with a shaky, “thanks.”
He looked at me a few more seconds and I felt my cheeks start to flush. I always seemed to blush at the most inopportune moments. My face was hot and I knew I had turned a bright red.
“Jordan! Are you going to start tending bar tonight?” Jaz asked and I suddenly found my friend's voice grating. I finally understood why Riley found her so annoying. Jordan stopped looking at me and turned to Jaz.
“Yeah, Moore put me on the schedule from seven until close. I'm pretty stoked.” Jaz squealed again. I had to suppress my eye roll, which took significant effort.
Jaz turned to Riley and me as we started filling out the applications. “Jordan just got bumped up to bartender. He's going to be great!” she gushed, pressing herself close to him again.
“Jeesh, is she going to start dry humping him next?” Riley whispered under her breath, shooting a look in their direction. I laughed quietly.
“It's starting to feel like a low budget porno in here. Just cue the cheesy 70' s background music. Bow chick-a-wow-wow,” I whispered back, trying to discreetly watch the pair as they talked. ~ within Chapter 1
“Well, considering it's usually me in a fetal position on the couch, I don't envy you. But I must say, it's not like you to over indulge. I've never seen you like this. So what gives?” I ask her.
“Stupid boys,” Riley muttered and my smile became even wider.
“Did you go out with a boy last night, Riley?” I goaded. She gave me the middle finger.
“Yeah, I hung out with Damien and a bunch of his friends after work. I got a little too drunk. Who knew a Green Eyed Monster was so vile coming back up.” Her face had gone pale.
“Well, no wonder you feel like shit. Everclear is some hard shit if you're not used to drinking.” I pointed out.
“Says the girl with the pickled liver,” Riley snarked. I ignored her, knowing she was feeling touchy.
“So, you and Damien, huh?” I asked, watching her to make sure she finished the toast.
Riley shrugged. “We've hung out a few times,” she said.
My eyes widened in surprise. “You have? What happened to not dating guys you work with?” I asked, giving her a smug smile.
Riley shrugged again. “Yeah, well my advice sucks. Forget about the shit I say. I know nothing,” she said sarcastically. I snorted. ~ within Chapter 8
“Is it a crime to want to fuck my girlfriend within an inch of her life?” he asked as he pulled his boxers and pants back up around his hips. I pushed my hair back off of my face and pressed my cold hands against my flushed cheeks.
“Not at all, it was just sort of sudden,” I replied as the sex euphoria started to fade. Damn, had he seriously just screwed my brains out behind a dilapidated old shed in the middle of a party? Yes. Yes he had.
Jordan kissed my mouth. “You're so fucking hot, Mays. When another guy comes on to you, it drives me crazy. You're my girl.” I grinned. Who knew that Jordan Levitt was as insecure as I was? It was oddly reassuring.
He clasped my hand and we headed back to the party. Luckily no one seemed to notice we were missing. ~ within Chapter 22

Feasted On: The Beaumont Series, Book 1

Format: Kindle Edition | File Size: 385 KB | Release Date: December 2012 | Publisher: Bandit Publishing | Obtained: Amazon.com

"Forever My Girl" [The Beaumont Series, Book 1] by Heidi McLaughlin

My Book Summary : Ever since they were fifteen-years-old Josephine (Josie/Jojo) & Liam knew that they were going to be together forever, they had all their lives planned out. However, once they got to college (at different schools) that all changed for Liam. Not he's feelings or love for Josie, never that, but all the goals he had for himself--going to college, playing football, and getting into the NFL--faded away because he lost the love for the game and his college life there. Yet in losing those goals, he got new ones--his love for music and performing. Therefore, he makes the hasty decision of dropping out of college and moving to LA, but in doing so, he thinks it would be better to break it off with Josie too. So, he does and for the next 10 years, he turns away from his old life and everyone in it.

Now 10 years after he left for LA he goes back to his hometown of Beaumont, Texas to face Josie, the town, and to mourn his once best friend to recently past away ... only to have his life thrown into an even bigger loop.

My Book Review : 4 out of 5 stars. This is a novel about a couple who has loved each other for years getting back together during a difficult time in their lives. I thought Josie & Liam were great together, they complement each other really well, and I thoroughly enjoyed how they worked their conflicts out between them. I feel bad for Nick somewhat because of how much time he spent with Josie only to still come up short. Yet I don't feel that bad because he was portrayed as being a dick for a majority of this novel. =0/

Nevertheless, during the first half of this novel I really wasn't a fan of Josie too much because of the way she was handling the shock of seeing Liam again and wanting him to not have any contact with their son, Noah. Don't get me wrong, I completely understand her fear and her wanting not to have Liam disrupt her and Noah's lives. However, I hated the way she first handled the situation since I am a big believer of parents (both mothers and fathers) being able to spend time with their children, especially if they can, are willing, and want too! So, yeah, with some of the things she was saying I took defense too, yet as the plot moves on, I liked how all of the issues that came up were resolved fairly quickly for Noah's sake.

Plus, you gotta love reading about a bad boy hot rocker turning back into a sort of good guy again! =0)

I recommend this novel to anyone who enjoys contemporary romances, especially ones involving rock stars!!

- On a side note -
I can't wait to see where book 2, Harrison & Katelyn's novel, will take this series!!

“My friend Johnny says rock stars have like twenty girlfriends and you came with three girls. Are they yours?” If I didn’t know better I’d think his mother put him up to this.
“No, I don’t have a girlfriend or a wife. I have a cat, but he doesn’t like me too much.”
Noah starts laughing, his legs swinging on the chair. I want to reach out and put my hand on his knees just like I used to do Josie. Although she’s so tall she could only do this from the tailgate on my truck.
“Your cat doesn’t like you? How come?”
I shrug. “I don’t know. He’s very mean though and I think about telling him to pack his kitty bags and move out.”
“Where is he now?”
“He’s in Los Angeles where I live. I have a housekeeper that will feed him while I’m gone.”
“Where does he sleep?”
Odd question coming from a boy. “He has one of those cat palace things. Maybe that’s why he hates me – because it’s a palace and not a race car or something like that.”
Listening to Noah laugh has quickly become like music to my ears. I want to record it and listen to it over and over while I write. ~ within Chapter 9 - titled 'LIAM'
As I play, people pair off and dance. This is the first time in years that I’ve done a solo set in a pub and I remember why I like it so much. The fans are involved; they're part of the show. The longer my set, the more show up. Ralph is doing a great business tonight and is keeping me supplied with a steady amount of beer even though he’s taking away half-empty bottles.
Someone yells that she loves me; I say ‘thanks’. Never will I or have I told fans that I love them, even with something as innocent as this. I’ve only loved one person in my life and those words are saved for my girl and now my son.
Sitting up here I realize I want to be a dad to Noah. I want him to see me like this and know there's more to life than just football. He can be an artist, a musician or even live under a bridge and I’d still support his decision, if he’ll let me. ~ within Chapter 15 - titled 'LIAM'
Mason and Liam start laughing and it pisses me off. I walk away from them knowing that Nick just bought himself an ass beating. Katelyn should’ve just handed me the note instead of waving it around.
Before I can turn into my class, a strong hand pushes me through the double doors leading outside. I know its Liam even though he’s behind me. He directs me to the football field, his favorite place to hold a conversation, except we aren’t talking.
He pushes me up against the concrete wall, my legs wrapping around his hips instantly. His mouth attacks mine, our hands everywhere. “Do you want to call Ashford?” he asks as he moves from my mouth down my neck.
I shake my head and it’s the truth. I have no desire to know or talk to Nick Ashford other than being his classmate.
“He’s jealous of me, baby. He wants everything I have. Please don’t give it to him.”
“I won’t, I promise.”
~ within Chapter 28 - titled 'JOSIE'

Made the Grade: Frontiera Series, Book 1

Format: Kindle Edition | File Size: 282 KB | Release Date: January 27, 2013 | Publisher: Self-Published | Obtained: Smashwords

"Heart of Stone" [Frontiera Series, Book 1] by Cathryn Cade

My Book Summary : Stone has been a pirate for most of his life, one needed to be a pirate in the place he grew up to be able to survive, but since coming to the new planet of Frontiera he has created a place for himself in it's society that is more civilized then he once was. Nevertheless, he still has people (some being other pirates) after him and/or wants to steal what he has so he needs to be cautious with his dealings and those working for him. Yet when Rose (a sister of one of his employees that he has always been attracted to) comes to his door demanding information about where her brother is his world is thrown for a loop he never expected. Since now that he has Rose within reach his pirate ways start coming out making it so when the time comes he might not want to let her go...

My Book Review : 3.5 out of 5 stars. Follow Stone & Rose as they go about creating a better life for themselves and those around them. A sizzling romance that keeps you on your toes! Rose is a very protective sister that finds herself in a situation that she actually wants to be in (minus the killing parts). Stone is a tricky guy who gets energized by Rose's innocent ways while he tries to protect those around him. They were a great match for each other!

I recommend this novel to anyone who enjoys sci-fi romances and don't mind if they are quick reads.

Author's Series Extras : Put Your Promise in a Time Capsule

Book Teaser(s) :
She kept her gaze resolutely on his face. He looked so handsome with his hair sleeked back from his angular face—younger somehow.
He shrugged. "Fair enough. I'm sorry. Anyway, I tried to wake you, siren." Now he was frankly grinning at her. "You wouldn't stir. Reckon something tired you out."
And that, it seemed, was her apology. Fine, then. She was using him as a means to an end and then they were through. So what if he had given her four orgasms, each succeeding one the best she'd ever had?
Not that she had that many to compare. In fact, last night had more than doubled her pleasure. ~ within the novel as there isn't any chapters
"You should have stayed hidden," he gritted.
She frowned at him. "They would've found me anyway. They were going to search the ship."
Stone growled, knowing he had reverted to primitive man and unable to quell it. She'd confronted pirates, in her underthings. She was going to be the death of him. ~ within the novel as there isn't any chapters

Made the Grade: Lords of Deliverance Series, Book 4

Format: Kindle Edition | File Size: 643 KB | Release Date: November 2012 | Publisher: Grand Central Publishing | Obtained: Amazon.com

"Rogue Rider" [Lords of Deliverance Series, Book 4] by Larissa Ione (aka Sydney Croft)

My Book Summary : Jillian was only doing her typical chores on her property but her life chances when she finds a naked and unconscious man lying in a snow bank. She brings him home in hopes of warming him up and hoping he won't die, and thankfully, he recovers quickly. However, when the man comes to, he doesn't have any clue as to how he got there, or whom he was; the only thing he remembers is his name ... Reseph.

As they get to know one another and try to find out anything about whom Reseph really is, others from Reseph's past try to hunt him out too. Soon Jillian will have to decide which is more important to her the man she is beginning to fall in love with, the life that she has created for herself, or getting rid of any demon who crosses her path again...

My Book Review : 3.5 out of 5 stars!! See how even the most evil being (well not completely) to have ever walked the earth can fall in love! I thoroughly enjoyed how the romance between Reseph & Jillian played out. Especially how, in the beginning when Reseph is trying to learn who he is he feels an instant connection to Jillian in a way that even though he says things like him not enjoy commitment when his instincts take over he completely disproves whatever he says. =0)

Also, I loved the beginning of this novel and the build up of it. However, I wish that when Reseph finally remembers, the build up of the novel continued and not fall as short as it did. Though, even saying that, I did like how the plot played out and how it ended. In addition, I can't wait to see where Reaver's novel (the next book in this series) will take us!!

I recommend this novel and series to anyone who enjoys reading new twists on the whole angel vs demons take, or just to anyone who likes paranormal romances!!

- On a side note -
I LOVED the snarky humor that was layered throughout this novel!! Plus, I couldn't get enough of the cover!! =0)

Book Teaser(s) :
“Do you know where you’re from?”
“No idea. I can’t remember... anything.” He pushed up, his shoulders and biceps flexing with power, and looked down at his naked body. “Did we fuck?”
She nearly choked. “No.”
“Why not?” He eased back down on top of her and buried his face in her neck, inhaling deeply. This time she felt the distinct presence of an erection settling against her pelvis. The buzz in the very air around him shifted suddenly from menacing to blatantly erotic, but no less dangerous.
Oh, God. “Because we’re complete strangers.”
He lifted his head. “So?”
So? This was not going well. ~ within Chapter 2
“Why do you have a flower in your hair?”
“What, it’s not very Horseman-like?”
“It’s not what I would have expected, no.”
Limos huffed. “It’s a poison-spitting iris that dissolves flesh on contact.”
Jillian edged backward. “Seriously?”
“No.” Limos grinned. “I just like pretty flowers. I could remove your flesh myself. I’m great with a blade.”
Flesh removal? Oh, God. The reality of the situation was starting to sink in now. “And this...” Jillian swallowed sickly. “This is how you convince me to go with you?”
“Sorry. I probably need to work on my sales pitch.” ~ within Chapter 22
So... my boyfriend killed a lot of people.
No, that didn’t have the proper ring to it.
Turns out that my lover murdered millions of people.
Better, but still didn’t quite achieve that jaw-dropping horror factor.
Before I found him frozen in a snowdrift, my half-demon lover tortured and slaughtered men, women, and children by the millions.
Perfect. ~ within Chapter 32

"Love Finds You in Glacier Bay, Alaska" [Love Finds You Series, Book 3] by Tricia Goyer & Ocieanna Fleiss

My Book Summary : A little over two years ago, Ginny ran away from her fiancé, Brett, because she was too scared of letting him into her heart fully and because she wanted to chase her dreams of being a famous singer.

Now all her big dreams have come true but she is still not content with the way her life is. Therefore, instead of signing her most recent record contract she decides on visiting Brett in Glacier Bay, Alaska hoping that he'll be able to get her on the right track for her life. However, once she sees Brett again, gets involved with the town, takes care of his feisty Grandma, and reads some revealing love story letters leaving Glacier Bay might be the last thing on her mind...

My Book Review : 4.5 out of 5 stars, this is a tender novel about a woman trying to overcome her past while coming to terms with what and who she wants for her future. I was enraptured in this novel's double dose of love! Ellie & Clay's sweet and thrilling tale made a perfect backdrop to Ginny trying to overcome the hurt and heartache that she had become accustomed too. In addition, I thoroughly enjoyed the secondary characters throughout this novel from the mischievous Grandma Ethel to Ellie's playfully joyful Grandfather they were all quite fun to read about!

I recommend this novel to anyone who likes historical & contemporary romances!!

"Love Finds You in Glacier Bay, Alaska" [Love Finds You Series, Book 3] by Tricia Goyer & Ocieanna Fleiss

Book Teaser:
"Miss?" A man behind her clear his throat.
"I'm sorry, sir." She cleared the last step and then moved to the side. A man in khakis and a faded blue knit sweater slung a gray duffel over his shoulder as he followed her gaze.
"I think I got off at the wrong stop," she muttered, glancing back up the steps and waving a hand to get the attention of the stewardess. "I'm going to Juneau. That's where I transfer."
"This is Juneau, miss." A businessman exited next, pointing. It was only then Ginny noticed the painted sign. WELCOME TO JUNEAU, ALASKA.
"But it's the capital city...." she said to no one in particular. "It looks more like a pit stop on the way to the North Pole." ~ within Chapter 2

Disappointmentville: Operation: Family Series, Book 1

Format: Paperback | Pages: 219 | Release Date: August 2012 | Publisher: Harlequin American Romance | Obtained: The Recycled Reader -- Used Bookstore

"A SEAL's Secret Baby" [Operation: Family Series, Book 1] by Laura Marie Altom

My Book Summary : Ellie & Deacon shared one steamy night years ago that changed Ellie's life forever. However, at that time they both didn't want or expect any relationship happen between them, so Deacon introduced Ellie to his best friend, and fellow Navy SEAL, Tom thinking that they would hit it off. Thankfully, Ellie and Tom do hit it off; they get married and have a kid. Yet not everything goes exactly to plan while out on a mission Tom unexpectedly dies leaving Deacon to help out Ellie and her daughter any way he can.

Now a year after Tom's death, Ellie feels it's time to reveal the massive secret she's been keeping.... her daughter's father isn't really Tom but Deacon from their one wild night. Nevertheless, will she be able to keep her life from falling apart once the secret is finally out there??

My Book Review : 2.5 out of 5 stars! This is a novel about mistakes, misunderstandings, love, friendship, respect, and trying to make an unusual situation right even when everything isn't how they want it to be. It's a compelling story that you never expect the twists that happen throughout it.

The reason I gave this novel the rating that I did was because while I enjoyed the relationship that grew between Pia, Deacon, & Ellie, I didn't like how Ellie handled the situation at all and I wasn't fond of how wishy-washy Deacon was at times. I can understand that they both grew up in bad situations so both had no way of knowing how to deal with the situation they had. However, they could have played out certain scenes better between them and wouldn't have had to deal with as much heartache as they did if they did so.

I recommend this novel to anyone who likes military romances and/or those who like novels dealing with paternity issues.

Author's Series Extras : It's Raining Men--Again!!!! | Time Sucking Broken Eyeballs!!

Book Teaser(s) :
"Doesn't matter." Garrett popped another seed. "Way I see it, now that the cat's out of the bag, you gotta feed it. Let's say Tom was still alive when this came out. He knew you and Ellie had a fling."
"He did?" Deacon sat up so abruptly he nearly choked on his spit.
"Everyone did. Thing is, he loved you like a brother, man. What happened with you and Ellie was in the past. He staked claim to her future. He never said anything, but given the short timing between their marriage and Pia's birth, even he had to wonder. I know me and Tristan did."
Deacon winced. ~ within Chapter 2
"Tell me more about this neighbor kid. Any romance?"
"Maybe..." Ellie matched his six and found another stone she was sure could get seven. "You'll never know."
"Oh," he said with a laugh, getting only four on his latest throw, "I don't know about you, Pia, but that sounded like a challenge to me. Think Mommy needs tickling?"
"Tickle, tickle!" Laughing, the little girl was first to attack.
Then came Deacon, going straight for Ellie's vulnerable ribs.
Laughing so hard she could barely breath, Ellie didn't fight it when they collapsed onto the ground in a laughing, tickling pile. ~ within Chapter 8

Liebster Blog Award - 2013

Well .... recently one of my newest blog followers nominated me for the Liebster Blog Award!! It's very sweet and I'm glad she (and others who've complimented over the years) like my blog's layout. =0)

So, I want to say a BIG THANK YOU to Deidra from Simply Books (again) for the nomination and becoming a follower!!

The Rules :
  1. Thank your Liebster Blog Award presenter on your blog and link back to the blogger who presented this award to you.
  2. Answer the 11 questions from the nominator, list 11 random facts about yourself and create 11 questions for your nominees.
  3. Present the Liebster Blog Award to 11 blogs of 200 followers or less who you feel deserve to be noticed and leave a comment on their blog letting them know they have been chosen.
  4. Copy and paste the blog award on your blog.

Questions from Deidra :
  1. If you could choose to live in one book, what book would it be?
    • I'm not sure when this will change but I still am a huge fan of Ms. Neill's Chicagoland Vampires Series! Technically I'd like to be one of Merit's best friends and living in the Cadogan House. **I know good luck with that one, but everyone can dream sometimes.**
  2. You are on a deserted island, and you can choose ONE book. What book do you take?
    • Oh lordy. I have no idea .... hmmmmm ... well if I had to choose a book that I've read within the past year, and if it could be found in a paperback version anytime soon, then I'd read "Feral Sins" [The Phoenix Pack Series, Book 1] by Suzanne Wright. It has a great mix of intrigue, passion, and suspense that I could read that novel over and over.
  3. Why did you decide to start a book blog?
    • This blog started because I decided (at that time--in 2008) was going to open a side business for my photography & videos. However, I didn't put much effort into the business so I only tried for a year. Yet I didn't want to give up this blog so I included/started book reviews to the blog as well and now it covers my three hobbies... creating videos, taking photos, and reading/reviewing books!!
  4. Moment of truth: Do you judge a book by its cover?
    • Sad to say but ... YES. Well ... I should say not always but definitely most of the time. Especially when I'm avoiding the books that I already have piled up in my TBR and just want a quick read, so I scan Amazon.com to see what they recommend and by that time I usually go by what the cover looks like first.
  5. Your favorite book is about to be made into a movie. How do you feel about that?
    • It just depends on if they did justice to the book series or not ... I mean I LOVED the Harry Potter movies, especially the last one (both parts 1 & 2) because they based the movie straight from the novel. Also, I surprisingly loved the Confessions of a Shopaholic movie even though they changed the heroine's life a bit by location and the movie basically mushed book 1 & 2 from Ms. Kinsella's series into one movie. However, since they don't always do that I'm always leery when seeing a new movie that's based off of a book.
  6. Where is your favorite place to buy books?
  7. Who are your favorite book boyfriends?
    • Oh my well ... they usually change on whatever book I'm reading at the time and if I like that book or not. So, to give you an idea on previous "book boyfriends" I've had crushes on please check out my Best Book Couples List that I made in 2012!!
  8. Which character would you love to slap and why? *We all have those moments*
  9. What was your favorite book that you had to read for school?
    • I didn't have a favorite since I hating reading when I was in school. Therefore, I didn't enjoy or finish reading most of the books that I read in school, CliffsNotes versions were my friend. =0)
  10. What is your favorite thing about blogging?
    • Putting my views and/or my creations out there so I can see what others think of it.
  11. Which author are you dying to meet?
    • Any from the long list that I've read from--click here to see--yet most don't head my way. Maybe some day though. =0)

All About ME :
  1. Blue is my favorite color ... not sure why but I can't get enough of it.
  2. My daughter is almost two years old (in less then 4 months) and is already testing out her terrible 2s.
  3. Even though I have a degree in Travel & Tourism Management, at both of my part-time jobs I am their Website Coordinator (I taught myself yet I'm always learning).
  4. I love to bake but I really am not a fan of everyday cooking.
  5. I have two dogs -- Paige & Surka -- Paige is my 7 year old pug and Surka is my 6 year old doberman.
  6. This year (2013) I'm supposed to be having my 10 year high school reunion. **Hopefully I'll be able to go**
  7. I love country music but I typically can listen to and enjoy about anything.
  8. I'm a HUGE fan of The Voice, and I always seem to find a new reality show to DVR (much to my hubby's dismay).
  9. Right now I'm in the middle of reading "A SEAL's Secret Baby" [Operation Family Series, Book 1] by Laura Marie Altom, so far it's really cute.
  10. Thinking about making some tacos for supper tonight. =0P
  11. Doesn't really enjoy talking about herself this much. =0P =0)

My Nominees :
**Okay I know there are less then the 11 requested nominees listed below but these are blogs that I follow who just happen to have less then 200 followers right now and have posted something within the past month! Plus they all happen to be some wonderful authors so please check them out!!**
