Out of the darkness and into the sun. But I won't forget all the ones that I loved. I'll take a risk, take a chance, make a change ... and breakaway

Format: Hardcover | Pages: 323 | Release Date: March 2010 | Publisher: Hyperion Books

"Hex Hall" [Hex Hall Series, Book 1] by Rachel Hawkins -- When Sophie turned twelve, over three years ago, she turned full into her powers and became a witch. As happens to all prodigium ("just a fancy Latin word for monsters") around that age.

But recently she preformed another spell-gone-wrong at current school. Now it was one messed up spell too many, so her parents and the Council are having her move into Hecate Hall, a place that "rehabilitates" misbehaving adolescents or those who cannot control what they can do.

However, by the first day Sophie makes friends with the school outcast (also her roommate), enemies with the three most popular girls, and gets a crush on the "bad-boy" heartthrob. That's only the beginning .... along comes a pesky ghost, and then there are three organizations that are out to kill any prodigium people .... especially Sophie.

3.5 out of 5 stars. Great book! I loved the characters .... Jenna is AWESOME!!! Definitely I want to read the second book, "Demonglass", when it gets released!

This book also reminded me of the Evernight Series ... just a bit ... minus the whole main character being a vamp. *shrug*
