2020 100+ Reading Challenge

So ... with this book list from book number 1 to number 19 Jess (the owner) had a computer malfunction and lost all of her ORIGINAL 2020 book reviews. Thankfully though Jess was hoping to start collecting her 2020 book stats so she had her ratings BUT after the mishap Jess gave up on collecting stats (she felt she already had enough to do). Jess'll try collecting stats again in 2021. Therefore, below is all that Jess has completed and links will be added as Jess goes along and officially posts the reviews that she does have. The Designer House at Bayside Manor
This past Monday (Aug. 11th) I volunteered at the Designer House. That place is gorgeous!!! It's a 1850's antebellum plantation home that is a 5,000 square foot house including 18 design areas. Every inch of that house had been redone from the in-laws separated space to it multiple forays. I recommend anyone and everyone to please check it out! In addition, Montero's Restaurant opened a small cafe there that opens at 11:00 am and their specials change daily! Come on home, So come on home, But don't forget to leave
A reckless-creative-entrepreneur and a ditsy-opinionated-free-spirit join forces to make "Stupid and Contagious" by Caprice Crane a must read!! It's about Heaven and Brady. Heaven has just lost her PR job (because of her bosses mistake), and is now a waitress in a trendy restaurant in New York. Even though to say it was her calling would be laughable. Brady just moved into the apt next to Heaven's. He's in music producer in an agency that's struggling to remain, which he and his friend created, until they find a group to get them their 'next big break'. Brady also likes to come up with new inventions/ideas but rarely tries to create them. His latest creation is Cinnamilk (Cinnamon-flavored milk) .... now he just needs to find a buyer. Can these two make it as friends, let alone neighbors?I hope I described it right .... it's early and I'm still waking up .... anyway ....
I HIGHLY recommend everyone to read this book. Funny, entertaining, and a page-turner are the easiest words to describe it. =0) 4 out of 5 stars!!!

Books Jess Read in 2009! | #BookReviews @FromJesstoYouVA
If you are familiar with this website, then you'll be aware that I have had this site since 2008 but it wasn't really until the middle of 2009 that I started officially reviewing books of any kind on here. With that being said, I advance my site all the time and in doing so it takes a longer time to get it officially updated. Yes, I am a perfectionist. Anywho ... for my book reviews I have a few various locations that I have all of them sorted (I love my lists) and I started my yearly book lists in 2010. Yet as I am in the process of updating all of my lists, I have officially finished my newest list, which is this one! It is a yearly book list of all of my reviewed novels from 2009. They say that things just cannot grow beneath the winter snow
"Snowbound" by Janice Kay Johnson was such a disappointment. I picked it up from Amazon.com since they had it free if you had an iPod or a Kindle and it was on the top of the list for supposedly being so good. But ehhh. =0PIt's about a teacher who is driving back (in a snowstorm) from an out-of-town event with a group of her students (8 teens). They decided to take the quickest route back ... not knowing that that highway closes in the winter. Thankfully the route they took has a lodge on it. The owner of this lodge is a gentleman who just got discharged from the military, and is dealing with his own set of problems. During the teacher (and her group's) 3 night stay at the lodge waiting for the storm to let-up, the teacher and the owner build a connection ..... and they see if they can make it work afterwords.
I mean the setting was good and so was the plot/point of the story. But if I wanted to read about war scenes then I would have picked up a nonfiction or history type of book, not a romance. And even though the story was a short one, for how she dragged it out making so everyone was so indecisive .... I was just happy to see it end.
2 out of 5 stars.

Truly ... every year I always feel like I am never ready. But in this post I have one gift idea for your children to give out to a relative, friend, or teacher!
I'll admit it isn't an original idea as I got it from my cousin around 2015 when my daughter was getting into school and needing to find a creative yet cheap idea for teachers gifts. And this is what my cousin (who has four kids) said she had all of her kids do every year for their teachers as "goodbye" gifts. Yet this is my take on it ...

I've found a reason for me, To change who I used to be, A reason to start over new ...
Betrayal of the ones we love are the hardest things to get past, in "Catch A Mate" by Gena Showalter all the characters deal with their own or others betrayals on almost a daily basis. Catch A Mate is a business where people who believe their significant other is cheating on them and want to find out if their accusations are accurate or not. All that person would have to do is hire Catch a Mate and an employee (called the bait) would find that significant other at a club (or some place they normally hang out) and try picking them up but at the end they don't follow it through, and they record it all so the spouse will know the truth. Jillian has worked at Catch A Mate for over 6 years and would love to take it over to make it even better then it already is. Marcus just happened to purchase the business from Jillian's boss. Both have major trust issues ... but will they learn that even though they want to stay enemies, they'll never find anyone else they could trust more then each other?2 out of 5 stars. Don't let the rating fool you ... it was a really good book ... cute. I mean I loved all of the characters! Main and secondary stories were awesome! However ... the ending ruined it for me .... it felt like Gena tried to wrap everything up to fast. Yet I don't know how it could have been written any better either. Which is sad since I liked it right up until there was about a quarter left in the book. =0(
