Feasted On: Takhini Shifters Series, Book 1

- This is an ARC book - Available Formats through Amazon.com: Paperback - Pages: 150; Kindle Edition - File Size: 316 KB | Expected Release Date: April 24, 2014 | Publisher: Self-Published | Obtained: NetGalley

"Copper King" [Takhini Shifters Series, Book 1] by Vivian Arend

Authors' Book Description : Originally published in the Alphas After Dark Boxset

Three things make billionaire Jim Halcyon’s to-do list: women, work…and more women. It’s a perfect agenda for a rich shifter who has no problem letting his inner grizzly out to play. From the bright lights of Vegas, to the sophisticated action of New York—he’s got the money and the power to do anything he wants.

Anything, except resist the lure of Lady Luck, an ancient copper coin he gambles yearly to possess. Jim is determined to regain control of the pretty penny, and damn if he’ll let any bit of eye candy distract him from his goal. Not even the mesmerizing woman in the middle of the casino floor with the shimmering hair and enormous green eyes.

With a life-changing move ahead of her, Lillie’s finagled a temporary layover en route to her future. She’s got five days to soak in new experiences, and while Vegas is too big and shiny and loud for her shy bear self, she’s eager to do this up right. It’s the last chance she’s got to let her hair down.

Until his challenge begins, Jim is more than willing to oblige Lillie’s wish for a final fling. Only Lady Luck has some twists of fate planned for them both…

My Book Review : 4 out of 5 stars! While on a yearly meet up with his best friend, Jim, runs into a woman who sparks up his life, but without them realizing their relationship seems to be growing into something more than a fling. But are they ready to settle down, or will the choice be suddenly taken out of their hands?

Lillie & Jim's connection is instantaneous and I loved how they playfully got to know one another. In addition, how their relationship finally ended up was very sweet!

I recommend this to those who are fans of Ms. Arend and/or like paranormal romances!!

Blog Tour - Face The Music by Andrea K. Robbins | Guest Post, Review/Spreading the Word, & Giveaway

Today I'm turning my blog over to Andrea K. Robbins, who is talking about which part of her novel was her favorite part to write about!

ALSO -- Be sure to check out Rafflecopter at the bottom of this post to be able to sign up for this blog stop's GIVEAWAY!! Check out more stops for this Blog Tour by clicking here! [Blog Tour will run from March 18 - 29, 2013]

Which Part of "Face The Music" was your Favorite Part to Write & Why? :

The first draft was so exciting. I didn’t care about commas or spelling. Didn’t worry about sequence or style or format. My purpose was to tell a story. I got to dream up new scenes and script conversations. It was like I was watching a movie in my head, piece by piece, and frantically trying to get all the details down before they were forgotten. It was FUN!

The editing was a lot of work, but, in the end, rewarding. I tend to be a perfectionist, at least with my writing, and I’d read and re-read the same sentence ten times, tweak it a bit, maybe change it back to the way it was, and then move on to the next. There were several times I’d put the manuscript away and take a long hiatus before going back through it again. When I finally decided to self publish, I had to create a deadline and make myself stop. Otherwise, I’d probably still be tweaking it!

My favorite part, though, has been happening since I published. I love reading reader comments and reviews and am so happy that they love my characters as much as I do.

"Face The Music" by Andrea K. Robbins

Author's Book Description : After losing her mother in a tragic accident, Allison Banks takes on the sole responsibility of caring for her little sister, her young niece, and her disabled grandmother. When her long-term boyfriend walks out, offering little in the way of explanation, Allison is left totally confused and utterly heartbroken. To cope, the 24-year-old closes herself off to any serious relationships and dives into her work as a graduate student.

Needing the extra income, Allison takes a job for the hot, new, reality TV show, Superstardom. Captivated by the competition’s front-runner, the mysterious and sexy singer, Chris Knots, Allison dismisses her attraction as nothing more than a silly, school-girl crush. But, when the hunky performer reveals an interest of his own, Allison must work through her reservations and decide if there’s room in her life for something more.

My Book Review (edited version - on March 2013) : 3.5 out of 5 stars, this is a thought provoking take on the reality singing show world that kept my attention wrapped while having me rooting for Allie and Chris the whole way!! I am surprised to say that since Allie mostly annoyed me throughout this novel, because of how she doesn't commit until the last minute, I enjoyed the novel as much as I did. Yet with that being said, I understood that all her problems about committing to Chris (or anyone for that matter) because of how badly burned she was before and afraid of any heartache happening again for her.

As I pushed on, I could feel myself growing to love her close-knit group of friends and family! It turns into a very sweet moving romance story that I could not put down. And I'm sooo happy about whom Jake ends up with since I was hoping that from the beginning!!

Overall, I recommend this novel to anyone who likes contemporary romances, especially ones where the main male character is a hot singer!! [Read more of Jess' Review and 3 Teasers for this novel HERE!]

Disappointmentville: The Lone Stars Series, Book 1

Format: Kindle Edition | File Size: 506 KB | Release Date: October 16, 2013 | Publisher: Self-Published | Obtained: Amazon.com

"Perfect Summer" [The Lone Stars Series, Book 1] by Katie Graykowski

Author's Book Description : High school teacher Summer Ames is trapped in the nightmare morning from hell. Her alarm clock didn’t go off, she accidentally backed over the rosebush her grandfather gave her grandmother right before he accepted defeat against prostate cancer, she’s wearing clothes she picked up off the floor, and when she opens the door to her classroom, the lights from the TV cameras nearly blind her. She's won Teacher of the Year. But unlike the past winners, she doesn't get a new car or a Hawaiian vacation or even new school supplies, she wins an over privileged quarterback with a bright smile and questionable intentions.

Clint Grayson is an NFL quarterback in need of a reputation makeover. If he has any hope of landing a hundred million dollar endorsement deal, it will take some pretty impressive PR to clean up his bad boy image. In an attempt to polish his tarnished reputation, Clint agrees to be a high school class mentor.

When these two get together all hell breaks loose and they both learn that all is fair in love and football…and winning is just the beginning.

My Book Review : 2.5 out of 5 stars. Summerville (Summer) has finally won Teacher of the Year, but instead of earning a new car or a wonderful trip she gets Clint--The Lone Star's Quarterback--as her new class mentor. YAY! Not. However, soon she'll realize that Clint coming into her life is only for the better if she can only get over her insecurities and embrace her unexpected future...

In truth, though I was surprised by the double plot romances (one with Summer and the other with her mother) I really liked how this novel began. It was steady passed and the playful banter between all the characters was very entertaining. However, around 57% of the way through this novel seemed to start dragging and the characters behavior started becoming a little ridiculous especially with all of their insecurities coming out of the woodwork. While I liked the pairings of Summer with Clint and Summer's mother Lillian (Lilly) with Davis (a man who loves her and is thirteen years younger than her), it was only curiosity in finding out the results of those relationships and because I really liked Summer & Davis's characters that had me pushing through to finish this novel.

Overall, I thought it was cute but I was hoping for more. Therefore, I recommend it to those who are fans of Ms. Graykowski or a light-hearted romance.

Idolizing In: Battlescars Series, Book 1

Format: Kindle Edition | File Size: 463 KB | Release Date: March 12, 2013 | Publisher: Self-Published | Obtained: Amazon.com

"Battlescars" [Battlescars Series, Book 1] by Sophie Monroe

My Book Summary : When Jake's band, Battlescars, first started out he was the quintessential bad boy rocker, but, within the past year, he has cleaned himself and his lifestyle up, even if the media doesn't seem to believe it. Therefore, when he meets Aubrey--a snarky, eclectic woman who has had to deal with a lot of bad things in recently and happens to be a stewardess for her father's private airline--Jake can't happen but be enthralled. So much so that not long after they meet Jake makes plans on pursuing her until she agrees. After Aubrey does, finally, agree to be his girlfriend Jake makes sure that he spoils her and makes her feel special as much as possible.

However, someone from Aubrey's past is determined to have her the way he's always wanted, no matter the cost...

My Book Review : 5 out of 5 stars!! Charming, thrilling, and sarcastic the whole way through, this is one rock & roll fairy tale that is hard not to love! Aubrey and Jake are a perfect pair, from their humorous antics to Jake's self-deprecating ways to how they come to fight for each other as best they can. I loved their whirlwind romance; especially how Jake goes about trying to win Aubrey over it was all very gentlemanly.

In addition, Jake's band mates were an entertaining bunch all on their own. It'll be interesting and fun to see where this series will go next!

I recommend this novel and series to anyone who enjoys contemporary romances! Also, I recommend this to those who like reading about hot rock star heroes finding their better halves.

Book Teaser(s) :
“I like you Aubrey. I can tell by your sarcastic undertones, rude comments and sheer lack of common decency that we’re going to friends in no time. I can just tell.”
“Whatever you say, Boss.” I grumbled.
I turned my attention back to my book until the timer went off letting me know that the food was ready. I expertly prepared the dishes. They looked as if they came out of a five-star restaurant. I placed them down on the trays in front of the boys. Jake devoured it and moaned the whole time earning a secret laugh from me. Maybe he wouldn’t be so awful after all.
He called to me over his shoulder. “If you cook like this all the time we’re skipping the friend stage and getting married.”
I take that back, we’re going to kill each other. I sat down and curled into a ball. I lost the battle of the heavy lids. ~ within Chapter 1 - titled 'Everywhere I Go' - Aubrey
I kept my promise last night to make up for Veronica and ordered Aubrey the biggest brownie sundae that the hotel had to offer. She moaned the entire time, which led to me having to excuse myself to the bathroom for the “shits.” This morning we were meeting everyone in the lobby for breakfast. Surprisingly , we got there first. Aubrey and I ordered waffles and bacon. Brett ordered eggs and sausage. Kevin came down next. He was always so laid back and easy going. Aubrey called him the Valium for the group. He said good morning to everyone and ordered his tofu scramble. Blake was next. He stumbled into the booth half awake. He ordered a coffee and put his head on the table. Derek was last. He showed up with a huge grin on his face. He was most likely up all night doing horrible things to corrupt the girl that he brought back to his room.
“Good night?” Blake mumbled to Derek.
“She told me she wanted a magical night with a rock star. So I fucked her and disappeared.” Derek said.
Blake laughed, and Kevin scoffed.
“You found it offensive, I found it funny. That’s why I’m happier than you.” Derek said to Kevin.
“Acting like a dick won’t make yours any bigger.” Kevin said. “I’m sorry my sense of humor offended you.” Derek laughed.
“Alright, it’s too early for all these insults.” I reprimanded. ~ within Chapter 7 - titled 'Claws & Daggers' - Jake

About the Author :
I'm J.C. Isabella, and I love to write. I've been writing for about ten years now. Mostly it was just for fun, for me. But my friends liked my work, so I decided to self publish. I hope you enjoy the rest of my site, and the books I have written.

The reason I chose to write romance, is because I love a happy ending. In YA there are so many lessons to be learned, so many firsts to be had. Why not write about first kisses, first crushes, or trying to explain to your father you were bitten by your boyfriend, who happens to be a werewolf?

One thing I will always promise in my books is a happy ending. I've always hated getting to the end of a really great novel, and feeling let down because it didn't end the way I thought it should. So about ten years ago, I decided to write a book. I remember it was about these kids who hijack a boat to find buried treasure in Mexico....

Needless to say, my writing has come a long way since my teen years, and I know I have room to improve, but I feel guilty having these books sitting in my computer, with no one to read them. So I'm putting them out for the world to see!

I try not to take myself too seriously. I'm not an editor, nor am I a total wiz when it comes to grammar or language. I try my darndest though, and I hope to give people an enjoyable read that is nice a break from reality.

I put a lot of work into what I do, and I appreciate people reading my work. It makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

- This is an ARC book - Available Formats through Amazon: Paperback - Pages: 52; Kindle Edition - File Size: 4120 KB | Expected Release Date: December 23, 2015 | Publisher: Self-Published | Obtained: Diane Hills

"Saved by the Tiger" [The Tiger's Protection Series, Book 1] by Diane Hills

Author's Book Description : "Well, thanks for everything, but I'm not in the market for a mate right now, so you'll have to find another girl."

Working at her company's trade show is the perfect way for Sara to spend the weekend, while her ex-boyfriend packs up and moves. After finding that Angelo is into drugs, she kicked him out of her apartment and her life. Good riddance. She doesn't need a man in her future. But when a menacing thug comes to her booth looking for Angelo, a deliciously hot guy chases him away and wants to keep an eye on her.

Ryan is supposed to maintain a low profile and hunt down the leader of a criminal gang. But he intervenes when one of the gang members confronts Sara, the woman his heart claims is his mate. He tries to protect her and persuade her they're meant to be together, but she doesn't want his help and isn't convinced they're mates. Even when she sees his tiger self and they share a passionate kiss, she clings to her independence, not ready to be hurt again.

Ryan must show her his love, and prove that being a tiger's mate is a destiny she is born to follow.

Each book in the "Saved by the Tiger" series can be read as a standalone and has a guaranteed HEA, no cliffhanger!

My Book Review : 2.5 out of 5 stars, while in Orlando for a business trade show Sara finds her life turned upside down when thugs who know her ex-boyfriend come after her because of her ex's wrongdoing and a weretiger comes to her rescue. Yet, will she be able to accept his help and the many strings that includes ...

This quick paranormal suspenseful romance was an okay read with an intriguing premise. I wished I could have liked this novel more but Sara was a little off-putting in her offhand attitude. But Ryan was definitely a refreshing hero that I would love rescuing me, just hopefully not from as extreme circumstances that Sara dealt with.

I recommend this novel only to those who are looking for a very quick suspenseful paranormal slight romantic read.

"Ryan. My name is Ryan."
Sara stood and held out her hand. "Thanks Ryan. Who was that guy?"
He took her hand. "A really bad dude. Are you at this booth all by yourself?"
But Sara couldn't answer him. Her breath caught in her throat. The minute her skin came into contact with his, a strange, pulsating wave ran through her body. Her legs turned to mush and her insides… like someone coated them with liquid fire. She suddenly wanted to wrap herself around this man, to run her fingers through his long, dark hair, to touch him all over.
His eyes widened, as though he felt something too, but he quickly composed his expression to neutral. ~ within the Chapter titled 'The Trouble with Men'

Feasted On: Baby, Oh Baby! by Robin Wells

Format: Kindle Edition | File Size: 468 KB | Release Date: November 4, 2012 | Publisher: Self-Published | Obtained: Amazon.com

"Baby, Oh Baby!" by Robin Wells

Author's Book Description : This time its all mixed up...

Cynical, jaded, practical-minded attorney Jake Chastaine is still grieving his late wife two years after her death when he discovers that due to a mistake at a fertility center where she received treatment, a woman he's never met has had his baby. Jake is determined to play a role in his child's life. He's chagrined to discover, however, that the mother of his child is as appealing as she is impractical. A gorgeous redhead, Annie is a free spirit who raises llamas, reads tea leaves and believes her dead grandfather talks to her through highway billboards. Worst of all, she makes his body temperature soar in a most illogical manner.

When his law partner and former father-in-law threatens to ruin Annie in a misguided attempt to help him acquire custody of the child, Jake decides that the best way to handle the situation is to enter into a short-term marriage of convenience. They both get far more than they bargained for, and learn a life-changing lesson about the power of love.

My Book Review : 4.5 out of 5 stars!! SO SWEET!!! A man and woman's lives join when their baby is born but even more so for Jake and Annie, two people who conceived a child because of a sperm bank mix-up, who are complete opposites yet plan to do everything in their power to make a good life/family for their child. Even if that means accidentally falling in love!

Together they balance each other out. While Jake proves to Annie he's the big-hearted man she's been hoping for, Annie shows Jake what it's like to be your true self and that love isn't black and white.

I really think they made a great pair! Plus, Madeline was so cute!

Along with reading about Jake dealing with his grief over his wife's passing, you read about her parent's -- who Jake is still close to -- dealing with their grief too. I thought it was a unique take that was both funny, sweet, and sad at times but brought a lot of heart to this novel.

I especially enjoyed how this novel was wrapped up at the end. Yet I was hopping their would be an epilogue with Annie being pregnant or having another baby to bring them together even more. I mostly wished this because how Jake keeps talking about how much he missed and how you can tell even though the timing would have been bad he wanted to have been there.

I recommend this novel to anyone to likes contemporary romances!

Book Teaser(s) :
Her voice broke off. “Oh, my! Your baby’s gotten ahold of something.”
Jake whipped his head around to see Madeline sitting under a chair, merrily sucking on a shiny object. He sprang to his feet, bolted across the room, and hauled the baby out into the open floor. The lower part of her face was smeared black, and her lips seemed to have disappeared. Jake yanked the object out of her mouth. It was a large felt-tip marker.
“Oh, hell.” Jake grabbed his shirttail again, and once more tried to swab out the baby’s mouth: As before, the child screamed at an eardrum-piercing volume.
For all of his efforts, Jake wasn’t making any progress. His shirt was gaining additional grime, but he didn’t see any lessening of the blackness in the baby’s mouth. It was black as pitch, and the blackness stretched all the way to the back of her tonsils—which she was showing to advantage as she yelped at full volume.
Alarm raced through Jake. “Hey—does anyone know if ink is poisonous?”
The pink-haired teenager squatted beside him and picked up the marker. “It says right here it’s nontoxic.”
Relief gushed through Jake. “Thank God.”
Yanking away from Jake, Madeline threw herself at the teenager as if he were a life raft on a storm-tossed sea. Her crying stopped as she crawled onto his lap. She grinned up engagingly, her mouth looking like a coal mine at night.
The boy’s eyes grew wide with alarm. “Hey! What’s she doin’?”
“Sitting on your lap. She likes you,” Lilly proclaimed.
The baby continued to grin. Despite himself, the boy smiled back. “Ya know, she looks kinda cool,” he said. “She’s kinda got a Goth look goin’.”
“She’s a sight, that’s for sure,” Lilly agreed. ~ within Chapter 6
She turned toward him. She wasn’t angry, he realized with relief. She was cracking up with laughter. She leaned against him, laughing until tears ran down her face.
She finally drew a breath and wiped her eyes. “Well, you get points for coming clean about it.”
He looked at her accusingly. “You knew.”
The remark set off a fresh round of giggles. Annie looked at Madeline, who was holding the stubs of two snack cakes in her fists, her cheeks stuffed like a chipmunk’s. “Madeline gave it away. She went nuts when I found the Twinkie boxes in the pantry.”
Jake rubbed his head, feeling like an idiot. “I should have told you,” he admitted. “It was just such a stupid thing to do....”
Annie’s eyes danced. “It would have been stupider if you’d sat there and actually eaten six of them to keep me from finding out.”
Jake grinned back. “You would have let me do that, too, wouldn’t you?”
“I would have. But I don’t think Madeline would.”
He laughed and gazed into her eyes—into her laughing, impish, blue eyes— and felt an almost overwhelming surge of attraction.
‘So she thinks your name is Twinkie.” Annie cocked her head as she said the word, as if she were testing it on her tongue. “That’s kind of cute. I think I’ll start calling you that, too.”
“Don’t you dare.”
“I just might, just to see what you’ll do.” ~ within Chapter 15

Made the Grade: Dante’s Circle Series, Book 7

Format: Kindle Edition | File Size: 3951 KB | Release Date: May 10, 2016 | Publisher: Self-Published | Obtained: Amazon

"Prowled Darkness" [Dante’s Circle Series, Book 7] by Carrie Ann Ryan

Author's Book Description : Humans aren’t as alone as they choose to believe. Every human possesses a trait of supernatural that lays dormant within their genetic make-up. Centuries of diluting and breeding have allowed humans to think they are alone and untouched by magic. But what happens when something changes?

Eliana Sawyer’s life was rocked from its foundation twice in as many years. She risked her heart and had it shattered into a thousand pieces when Malik left her with no warning. While she’d normally raise her chin and ignore the pain, she can’t forget what he gave her before he disappeared from her life.

Malik Ward is a prince amongst the lion shifters and knows that one day he will have to take a mate. Only, his people can never mate with humans. Under the mistaken impression that Eliana was only human, he forced himself to leave before they’d crossed a line and he broke his vow to his people. Now that he knows the truth about Eliana, however, it will take more than groveling to win back the one woman fated to be his.

While Eliana and Malik embark on a new sensuous path that might lead to disaster, the realms aren’t ready to allow the final lightning-struck human to be enveloped into their fold. The couple will have to combat those plotting against them, as well as the broken promises and heated emotions they share.

Warning: Contains a Leo with a bite that’s worse than his roar, a woman with one last chance at the life she’s always dreamt of, a flame that could extinguish with the wrong sacrifice, and the final journey in the bestselling Dante’s Circle series.

My Book Review : 3 out of 5 stars!! This is the FINAL novel from Ms. Ryan’s Dante's Circle Series. Here we follow Eliana and Malik as they come to terms with their future, find out more about Eliana’s true self, and take on the reins of parenthood while Malik takes on his new role of leader of his pride. However, not everyone is in favor of Malik ruling over them and will stop at nothing to take him down. What will Eliana have to do to keep her new family together forever? Will the sacrifice be worth it?

This novel was very cute! Yet, while I appreciated the updates that happened for all of Eliana’s friends/family at the beginning and end of this novel, I found the first 30% of this novel hard to read through. I found it difficult mostly because, while I liked Eliana and Malik together as a couple, they come back together in a rushed and kind of unrealistic way. It was hard to appreciate their struggle and joining, as I would have liked. Though once mated I found the plot to become more fast-paced and entertaining.

Together their attraction and chemistry are undeniable. What threw me off in the beginning with Malik was just as Eliana states in Chapter 3 ::
The king of the freaking jungle was an asshole.
Nevertheless, once they overcome that, they become a powerfully protective duo that will do whatever it takes to keep their family together. I loved the scenes based around their child. So heartwarming!

I HIGHLY recommend this novel and series to those who are fans of Ms. Ryan and/or looking for a unique paranormal romance!

Feasted On: Quick & Furry Series, Book 6

Format: Kindle Edition | File Size: 598 KB | Release Date: August 4, 2015 | Publisher: Self-Published | Obtained: Amazon.com

"Hunting a Mate" [Quick & Furry Series, Book 6] by Celia Kyle (aka Lauren Creed) & Mina Carter

Authors' Book Description : The M & M Mating Agency: We deal in matings, not chocolate.

Does love at first sniff exist? Archer and Paige seem to think so. Well, more like Archer says yes and Paige says no. But don’t worry, they’ll work it out in the bedroom.

Wereferret Paige Baxter has an itty-bitty shifting problem. Mainly she spontaneously shifts, and that’s a problem. Her answer is to remain calm, practice yoga, and stay away from anything that could scare her… or surprise her… or arouse her. Of course, the super-hottie hunk of werecougar she runs into at the M & M Mating Agency ticks off all three “must never happen at once” boxes.

Paige does what any embarrassed, self-respecting woman would do in that situation—she runs. Unfortunately—or fortunately—cats love a good hunt.

My Book Review : 4 out of 5 stars! This novel doesn’t really deal with anyone trying to interrupt a mating, it’s about a couple who find each other and in unusual circumstances that leaves Paige (a ferret shifter) shifting during high stress situations. And what is a more high stress situation than Paige finding her mate, Archer (a cougar shifter), while dealing with her demanding mother too…

This fast-paced paranormal erotic romance was soo sweet and fun that I could not get enough of this charming duo! Paige and Archer were a great couple! Archer is supportive of Paige’s “incidents” while Paige was adorable as she grew into her confidence around him. I especially like the way Archer deals with both of their relatives. *hehee*

I recommend this novel to those who are fans of the authors and/or interspecies paranormal romances!

Great. Just…amazing.
One owner of the M & M Mating Agency laughed at her while the other called her cute as if she were a puppy. Well, she wasn’t. She was a wereferret. Maybe her kind wasn’t the biggest or the baddest, but they made up for it with other fine qualities like…she couldn’t think of one right that second. But they had them! I am ferret. Hear me roar! ~ within Chapter 1

“Children, the both of you. Why did I try so hard to make you like each other? Why?
“Because you’re a caring and loving sister. Archer and I think you were adopted.” Mel replied, full of sincerity.
He, of course, glared at her. “I wasn’t serious about that.”
Mel coughed. “Liar.~ within Chapter 7
