Feasted On: The Wiccan-Were-Bear Series, Book 5

Format: Kindle Edition | File Size: 253 KB | Release Date: October 29, 2012 | Publisher: Self-Published | Obtained: Amazon.com

"A Bead of Blood" [The Wiccan-Were-Bear Series, Book 5] by by R. E. Butler

My Book Summary : Sabrina is a Vampire who is a Hunter that keeps the other vampires in line, and has been doing so for the past 80 years. However, her most recent assignment brings her to a supernatural fighting ring where she meets her mate, a were-bear named Griegs, who has been held prisoner and fighting for the past 2 years. Now her world changes instantly for the better, if only she can get Griegs to make amends with his own family...

My Book Review : 4 out of 5 stars, two mates/beloveds find each other in very unusual circumstances and make sure they are able to stay together now matter what. I loved this sweet erotica and how quickly Sabrina and Griegs' lives come together! Plus, for not reading the previously published books in this series, I found I was able to follow along very well without any issues. I hope Sabrina and Griegs will be in or mentioned in the coming novels because I liked them so much I want to be kept updated on them! =0)

I recommend this novel to anyone who likes sweet erotic paranormal romances!

"Holy hell it smells like a brothel in here," Ash snorted.
Griegs laughed. "I guess you guys all had the same idea I did."
Elizabeth pressed the button to turn on the overhead lights, pulled her hair up, and tilted her head to show mating marks on both sides of her neck. I laughed and flipped my hair to show mine, and we all turned and looked at Shaylee who pointed hers under the pile of black hair.
Greigs lifted up his freshly bitten wrist. "Suck it, guys. My baby bit me back."
Everyone went quiet for a moment, and then both girls groaned lightly as the men began making demands for bite marks of their own. ~ within Chapter 8

Disappointmentville: Fall Into Me by Nikki Wild

Format: Kindle Edition | File Size: 6586 KB | Release Date: November 2, 2016 | Publisher: Self-Published | Obtained: Amazon

"Fall Into Me" by Nikki Wild

Author's Book Description : The British rock hard in the bedroom...

I've always played by the rules. I'm the good girl. the over-achiever, the voice of reason. But all that gets thrown out the window the second I wake up in Julian Bastille's hotel room, married... and pregnant.

He's a British rock god. The sexiest man on the planet, even before he starts to sing. He's also the biggest prick on the planet, an alcoholic, and bad to the bone--and in this case, opposites don't attract.

Or do they? The fact is, the more I tell myself to stay away for my own good, that we're so obviously not meant to be... the more my heart betrays me. The more distance I try to put between us, the closer Julian tries to get, and the worst part is I'm starting to hope he catches me.

The question is, should I let him?

Fall Into Me is a full-length romance novel. This special ebook edition contains a few extra surprises for my loyal readers!

My Book Review : ** Book Disclaimer ** When I purchased "Fall Into Me" I believed it was a novel because of what Ms. Wild had at the end of the book description. It said this… “Fall Into Me is a full-length romance novel. This special ebook edition contains a few extra surprises for my loyal readers!”

In addition, in Amazon’s product details it stated "Fall Into Me" Print Length: 338 pages. SO … what was I supposed to think other than what the information was true. However, I was wrong as the last sentence in the product description held the most truth. In all actuality when I purchased "Fall Into Me" it was published all with SIX additional novellas … so instead of this being a FULL LENGTH novel this is actually an ANTHOLOGY.

These are the additional novellas that were included after "Fall Into Me" :
"Illicit Behavior" | "PROTECT AND SERVE" | "PLAYED" | "Stepbrother Fixation" | "Saved by the Bad Boy" | "Pride and Pregnancy"

For "Fall Into Me"…

2.5 out of 5 stars. After a wild night (that they both cannot completely recall) in Las Vegas, Elizabeth (Liz) and Julian find their world turned upside down. Julian’s manager (Tessa) has BIG plans on spinning all the publicity in “workable” ways but what no one expects is the attraction between Elizabeth and Julian to turn into something more. Yet, just when they were starting to build their lives together, someone in Julian’s lives sets their sights in tearing them apart at all costs.

While the beginning hooked me and I found the ending sweet, it was the middle that had me pissed off during one moment and wanting to bang my head against the wall the next. I just REALLY wish Julian got his head out of his ass sooner. I mean I KNOW Tessa was Julian’s only source of “friendship” or support system but to not even confirm what he heard/saw with Elizabeth REALLY irritated me. I mean COME ON and get a clue .... If you like someone that much, let alone have a CHILD with them, you DON’T just cut and run after the first accusation ... YOU FIND OUT THE TRUTH. Yet ... it is ONLY because of Julian and Elizabeth’s connection that I stuck with this novella from beginning to end. Though even how their relationship was laid out was kind of confusing (like when Elizabeth talked about adoption for about half of a chapter but then she never mentions it again).

Overall, I cannot recommend this novella. But if you are still willing to read this novella it is for those looking for a rockstar romance.

"Triple #teXXXt" [The FlirtChat Series, Book 2] by Sarwah Creed
(Originally published as "Triple Sext" [Book 4 in the Accidental Stepbrother Series], which is what it was called when this reviewer read it.)

Author's Book Description : Is my perfect match on campus one guy or three?
I had a filthy fantasy. One so bad that the night before going to college, I had the wildest dream about the all-star football player falling at my feet. I was brought down to reality as I soon found out that life at NYU didn’t turn out the way that I hoped. All the social clubs that I joined were a bust and my roommate turned out to be far from my friend, but a bully that I needed to get as far away from as possible.
Suddenly, I got a text.
Not any ordinary text, but one so dirty that it drove my mind wild.
It messed with me.
So, I responded.
And that’s how the texting relationship started and as the texts got dirtier there was only one thing on my mind... who was this guy?
Or was it three guys?

The message tone changed depending on the time of day.
The ones I got first thing in the morning, were so hot that they could turn steel bars into pools of molten metal.
The ones in the afternoon were even better but just... different.
And the texts I got in the evening were so damn dirty I could barely sleep without putting my hands between my thighs.
They were so addictive that I agreed to meet this Casanova of the text world. I had one worry, though.
What if it was three guys?
What was I going to do with all three of them at once?

Author´s Note:
Triple #teXXXt was previously called Triple Sext. It has no new content and it is a stand-alone reverse harem with a mixture of bullying, romance, humor, and even suspense. There are multiple partner scenes, so make sure that not only is your Kindle ready, but you have a towel nearby too as you read this standalone HEA.

My Book Review : 4 out of 5 stars! A girl goes to college to turn into the woman she wants to be and gets a whole lot more than she originally bargained for in terms of love and friendship.

This is another reread that I reread because I lost my original book review & rating. However, it is one that I was really excited to read as I remembered really enjoying it when I first read it in September 2019. It is not a bully romance for me because the bully in this romance is not the hero(es), yet it does have a bit of a twisted plot in terms of how Celia gets involved with the identical triplet brothers (Colin, Grant, & Keith).

With that being said,

"Homecoming for Christmas" [Christmas Mountain Series, Book 1] by Ciara Knight
(Originally published as "Homecoming in Christmas Falls" Book 1 of Return to Christmas Falls Series which is what it was called when this reviewer read it.)

Author's Book Description : Eight years after fleeing Christmas Mountain because of a high school prank gone wrong, Ashley Brooks receives a mysterious letter from her mentor asking her to come home. She arrives to face all she left behind—her family, her friends, and the rich boy she’d loved who would never date the girl from the wrong side of town.

Brent Donnelly, high school jock, brainiac, and dutiful son did everything right until the day Ashley returns to Christmas Mountain. With one look at the girl who got away he questions all his life choices, including following in his father’s footsteps in the family business.

Faced with a potentially devastating decline of tourism in their hometown, Brent and Ashley must work together to save the magic of their town, but when Ashley discovers he still has feelings for her best friend she must finally face the real reason she left Christmas Mountain—to try to heal her broken heart.

My Book Review : 2 out of 5 stars. The day of Ash’s (Ashley) high school graduation, she and her best group of friends pull a prank that lands them in jail. That incident changes her life drastically as she moves away from home without telling anyone, but her parents, the following morning and has stayed away from her hometown ever since. Now about eight years later, she returns home at the request of her high school mentor and in the process pick up the pieces of past relationships with friends and more. Yet, will she be able to reconcile with her friend and longtime crush, Brent, or will their insecurities and other people keep them apart for good?

I had been drawn into this novel’s book description from the beginning but what sealed me reading it was when I was looking for a novel to read for the 12 Days of Cozmas read-a-thon. And at first glance I thought this novel was perfect for me.

Made the Grade: Thrust of Fate by Amy Crown

- This is an ARC book - Available Formats through Amazon.com: Kindle Edition - File Size: 5217 KB | Expected Release Date: August 10, 2015 | Publisher: Self-Published | Obtained: Amy Crown

"Thrust of Fate" by Amy Crown

Author's Book Description : Arial thought she had a pretty normal life until news of her uncle's death thrusts four men into her life: a demon, an angel, a vampire and a werewolf. Now her previously non-existent love life is more than she can handle. How can she choose and does she have a choice?

- This story is intended to be enjoyed by an 18+ audience only.
- Standalone novel, no cliffhangers here!
- Please be aware that this is a romance short. Shorter fiction is a fun and quick read, not a full-length novel.

My Book Review : 3.5 out of 5 stars! After six years of being away, Arial comes home because she is told her Uncle (the man who raised her) has passed away. However, not long after arriving at the hotel she finds out that the destiny that her Uncle always alluded to over the years has finally arrived and now she’s forced accept the men (or choose between them) who come along with it. Yet, can she really choose between them when she really wants them all? Will the men be willing to “get along” for the sake of Arial? Or will she decide to take matters into her own hands to get exactly what she wants?

A dynamic plot, intriguing characters, with a fast-paced setting. I liked how Arial handles everything that came her way, even though she should have handled everything better that happens towards the end. While the relationship between Arial and her men (Emil, Damien, Gabriel, and Murin) is growing throughout this novella (and even afterwards) I enjoyed what I could of it and how they came together. Nevertheless, the whole “orb thing” and how it was supposed to, basically, “take away” her matings so she could accommodate them all was a little weird for me. It also annoyed me a bit because, even though she has instant feelings for them all, her own choice in the matter isn’t even taken into consideration.

With all that being said, though, I am very happy that I read this novella! It’s not as erotic as I had expected, yet still a fun paranormal romance. Then through it all, the way the plot builds on itself, made me want to read more about Arial and her men.

I do recommend this novella to those who are looking for a quick paranormal romance with a unique setting.

-- On a side note --
When reading a "multiple couple" romance I kind of like to read from as many, if not all, of the characters' POVs, but in this one it was only was Arial and Emil's POVs that you get to read from, which I found that a little disappointing.

Book Teaser(s) :
Before she even made it to the door in the blink of an eye the dark man with the red-rimmed eyes was standing before her.
She nearly screamed.
“Do not.” He warned.
She was upset with herself that she’d followed his command, but he had a look to him that told her that few people challenged his wishes.
“Why are you in my room?” She demanded.
“We will be rooming together. I see that it is necessary.”
“What are you talking about?” She asked confused.
“How dare you leave your door unlocked for anyone to walk in and how dare you think to open your door to another man dressed like that.” ~ within Chapter 2

"Moving In" by Chloe Kincaid

Author's Book Description : They are three very different men, but deep down, they're all big, tough studs at heart.

The timing could not have been worse.

My dorm room is flooded, and it’s only one week before I’m set to play in the regional soccer championships. Of course, the only room available is in an off-campus house currently occupied by three guys—or three jerks I should say, according to the rumors circulating around campus. But it’s either live there or on the street.

So off I go.

I just need to stay focused on the game and my studies. But how can I when the three guys are just so damn hot? And despite their reps, they may not be so bad after all.

Could I actually be falling for them? Really?

I’ve never even been able to handle one boyfriend. What the hell am I supposed to do with three sexy guys?

Hmm, I think I have a few ideas…

"Moving In" is a reverse harem young adult contemporary romance involving three passionate alpha heroes and tons of kindle-melting heat, love at first glances, and sweet innocence. This mfmm romance is all about her – no m/m. If you love over-the-top, slightly unrealistic, and wildly dirty stories, this one’s for you! HEA with no cheating!

My Book Review : 3 out of 5 stars, after her college dorm floods out Natalie moves into a new dorm that she’ll be sharing with three other guys. Not long in to living there she finds she’ll be sharing a whole lot more with them too.

This was another reread that I did because of losing my original rating and review for it (find out the whole story on my blog) but it was also in conjunction with Smutathon (a readathon hosted over on youtube through gingerreadslainey & Riley Marie’s channels). Now I of course knew this was a smutty read before I even reread it … I mean look at the cover. But I had forgotten (a bit) about how this novel’s plotline would go so I was excited to pick it up again. Therefore,

"Putting Boys On The Ledge" [The Girlfriend’s Guide to Boys Series, Book 1] by Stephanie Rowe (aka Stephie Davis)

My Book Summary : Four friends, starting their freshman year of high school, learn what it means to attract the guys they like. The most recent thing they learned, from one of the friend's older sisters, was to put the guys one The Ledge, so that the guy would be one wanting more out of the relationship but not getting it, instead of them.

Blueberry (Blue) is one of the friends, who doesn't believe in the advantages of The Ledge until she finds a guy, while at the high school musical additions, that she would love to date. And even though Blue thinks she could never gain his attention, suddenly she has it and not sure how to keep it. Especially since, she's never had a boyfriend before. Therefore, her friends ask Colin, a senior who works for Blue's parents doing her chores while she's in the musical, to help her out and he offers his services to help her get the guy. But he's just helping out to be a friend, right?

Soon Blue is about to learn what it means to really have a crush on a guy and what it means to want to put a guy on The Ledge.

My Book Review : 3 out of 5 stars, this is a sweet and endearing novel about a girl coming into her own. It is a good novel and series for young teen girls. Very empowering. The characters were fairly realistic and very entertaining. Blue and her friends are a close group of girls who, at first, you might not expect them to have anything in common, but for some reason their friendship works. Colin was a great character too. I enjoyed watching how his playful side came out with Blue.

I recommend this story and series to anyone who is a fan of Young Adult novels!!

Book Teaser(s) :
"It wasn't that he hadn't noticed Blue at the auditions. It was just that he didn't recognize her because she looked different, older, and there were so many distractions she didn't have time to woo him."
"Woo him? How do you woo?" I didn't know I was supposed to woo. I'd been focusing on trying to have an intelligible phrase come out of my mouth.
"Yes, what's wooing?" Natalie asked. ~ within Chapter 4

Made the Grade: The Siberian Volkov Pack Romance Series, Book 10

Format: Kindle Edition | File Size: 3963 KB | Release Date: June 8, 2015 | Publisher: Self-Published | Obtained: Amazon.com

"My Perfect Mate" [The Siberian Volkov Pack Romance Series, Book 10] by Caryn Moya Block

Author's Book Description : Six months have passed since Susan Adams was forced to become a lycan. She’s embraced the wolf with her whole heart, but having super senses and running on four feet can’t help her keep a job or figure out where she belongs. Now, with a mating bond snapping into place and the mating heat riding her hard, Susan’s wolf is demanding she cement the bond in place. There’s only one problem. Her mate isn’t a lycan. In fact, she’s not sure what he is, and mating Susan is the farthest thing on his mind.

Jean Paul Nadeau is not your ordinary elemental witch. He’s one of the famed Averys, as human witches know him. In truth, he is an immortal Fae Lord sent by the Queen of Avalon to guard a dimensional gateway sitting in the middle of Quebec City. When the lycan mating bond attaches to his heart, JP is both delighted and dismayed. Finding his “Destined One” is an unexpected gift, one that could cost him more than his immortality.

My Book Review : 3.5 out of 5 stars! Susan meets her mate, a non-lycan and not only does he shake up her life, not long after meeting her he takes off without her for a while. Now that Jean-Paul (JP/Sir Hywel) is back after being away for three weeks, both Susan and him are hoping to get to know one another better and cement their bond. However, before they are able to complete their bonding Jean-Paul needs to get a magical ring back from an “evil” polar bear shifter …. before a majority of the arctic ice melts.

Okay before I tell you my thoughts, I have to admit that even though this is book 10 in its series this is the first book I’ve read by Ms. Block and her Siberian Volkov Pack Romance Series. I chose reading this novel because Amazon.com displayed it in my book recommendations, I was intrigued by its book description, and I really liked the cover on the novel. Therefore, while I enjoyed the novel, the way it’s laid out with all of the previous characters coming to and fro I had a hard time following it at times. Nevertheless, I liked it. I really, really liked it!

Susan is charming with her sweet heart, her disarming ways, and her affinity with “animals.” Jean-Paul is a little abrupt but throughout the novel he charms his way into Susan (and the reader’s) heart. Together they make one hell of a couple, if only Susan can get over her initial fears that something will go wrong.

I also enjoyed the major side story of the amarok (arctic wolf shifters) who are the offspring of a mating between a polar bear shifter and lycan. It was interesting to see how they’ve been surviving after the cruelties that they’ve suffered. In addition, I liked how Susan decides to “step up to the plate” to try to save these children and hope to give them better futures. It’ll be interesting to see where this series will take its readers next.

I recommend this novel to those looking for a unique paranormal romance!

“Ughh,” Susan said a few minutes later. “Jean-Paul, could you lift up, you’re squishing me. I’m not complaining mind you. I think you just blew my mind. That was the best sex ever, but I can’t breathe. JP… Honey?” Susan shook him.
He didn’t respond, his head rolled to the side. “Oh my god, I killed him.” ~ within Chapter 3
Jean-Paul smiled. Susan would take on racism to save the amarok children, but didn’t feel worthy of a pretty dress. She was a puzzle with more layers than he could fathom, and she was his. A warm glow filled his chest. He smiled, again. He couldn’t help it. ~ within Chapter 9

Made the Grade: The Necklace Chronicles, Book 2

Format: Kindle Edition | File Size: 209 KB | Release Date: September 15, 2012 | Publisher: Self-Published | Obtained: Smashwords

"The Gigolo’s Bride" [The Necklace Chronicles, Book 2] by R. E. Butler

My Book Summary : When Eden was young (and just reached maturity), his parents sold him as a sex slave to pay off their debts. Years later he feels beaten down and like his life can never get better so he tries to take his own life, only to be saved by a friend and fellow sex slave. In hopes of turning his life around, Eden's sister pays for him to be able to find his soul mate, who happens to live on Earth and named Ashleigh.

Five years later, Eden has saved enough money to pay off his debt at the brothel to become free and pay the money to be able to "pick up" Ashleigh from Earth so they could be together....

Ashleigh likes her life, well her job as a nursery school teacher and her friends at least. However, she is very intrigued by a necklace and flowers that arrive for her by a secret admirer (aka Eden). Then soon finds her life being turned upside-down not long after receiving the gifts when she becomes kidnapped and informed she can never return to Earth.

Now Eden has a little over two months to try to win Ashleigh's heart for good, with hopes that she'll never find out about his past...

My Book Review : 3 out of 5 stars, two caring hearts meet under harsh circumstances and decide if being with each other is something that they're willing to go the long haul for or not. I liked Eden & Ashleigh together they suited each other well. At least once Ashleigh got over her own personal issues about being kidnapped and never being able to go back to Earth again. In truth for most of this novel, I really didn't like Ashleigh, and only because I knew how sweet Eden was and I didn't like how she treats him for most of this novel. Nevertheless, once everything is on the table I do like how Ashleigh steps up to the plate so-to-speak when it comes to her true feelings for Eden and wanting to help him out no matter the costs.

In addition---and I mean this in regards to Eden & Ashleigh's friends at the end of the novel---I just wish this it didn't lead you up to another sort of plot only to fall short in the end. It was somewhat disappointing, unless Ms. Butler was going to write a novel about them...

Anyways. Overall, I liked this novel and recommend it to anyone who enjoys sci-fi abduction romances!

"Freedom? How is what you are doing to me freedom?"
"You're no less free than in a marriage on your planet. I've done my research, Ashleigh. Human men and women belong to each other in marriage, there's mutual love and respect, sharing of household and family duties. It's no different on my planet. The only difference is that you didn't ask to be taken, and I understand your anger at the situation, but I only want you to be happy. Ask me anything, except to take you back to Earth, and I'll go to the ends of the universe to see it happen."
Of course he would say, "except to take you back to Earth". Damn smart alien. ~ within Chapter 3

Disappointmentville: My A-List Boyfriend by Kyle LaForge

Format: Kindle Edition | File Size: 294 KB | Release Date: June 2012 | Publisher: Self-Published | Obtained: Amazon.com

"My A-List Boyfriend" by Kyle LaForge

My Book Summary : After a co-worker gets fired Kate's boss asks for her to take over the interview with Tom Alexander, one of the hottest male actors in Hollywood. She knocks the interview out of the park and becomes Tom's new friend. However, soon her life is about to change in some amazing ways, yet will she be happy with all of the changes??

My Book Review : 2.5 out of 5 stars. Who wouldn't want to have a Hollywood-IT-Man wanting to be your friend, let alone want to be your boyfriend? This story is all about that fantasy we all wish to have but most won't ever be able to get.

It's very cute and charming. I loved Tom!! He is everything a "hero" should be!! I also liked Kate's friends, Tom's assistant, Kate's family, and Tom's family. However, I wasn't a fan of Kate. I mean she was sweet in the beginning. Yet by the middle, I got really annoyed with her because of the way she handled everything in her life and the consequences that came with her actions. Blah. =0/

If you decide on reading it, I hope you'll like it better than me. I don't recommend this book.

- On a side note -
I also wasn't happy with the book setup on my kindle since it didn't link up to my typical kindle settings. Plus, it could have been edited a bit better.

Book Teaser(s) :
"I've never had much luck when it comes to girls," he looked up from his drink.
I eyed him skeptically.
"Let me rephrase that," he said. "I haven't had luck finding a girl who's interested in me for who I am as a person. The last relationship I was in ended in less than a year. I've been doing this my whole life so the only girls that I've ever known are actresses. I'm hesitant to get close to someone else who's in the business because I tend to question their motives. Most seem to be more interested in furthering their careers than building any sort of relationship. I gave the girlfriend title a shot only once and she broke my heart."
I didn't know what to say. What girl in her right mind would break this guy's heart? ~ within the only Chapter

Made the Grade: Runaway Train Series, Book 1

Format: Kindle Edition | File Size: 535 KB | Release Date: March 24, 2013 | Publisher: Self-Published | Obtained: Amazon.com

"Music of the Heart" [Runaway Train Series, Book 1] by Katie Ashley

Author's Book Description : For Abby Renard, the plan was supposed to be simple—join her brothers’ band on the last leg of their summer tour and decide if she’s finally ready for the limelight by becoming its fourth member. Of course, she never imagined stumbling onto the wrong tour bus at Rock Nation would accidentally land her in the bed of Jake Slater, the notorious womanizing lead singer of Runaway Train. When he mistakes her for one of his groupie’s, Abby quickly lets him know she sure as hell isn't in his bed on purpose.

Jake Slater never imagined the angel who fell into his bed would resist his charms by promptly kneeing him in the balls. Of course, the fact she seems like a prissy choir girl makes her anything but his type. So he is more than surprised when after betting Abby she wouldn't last a week on their tour bus, she is more than willing to prove him wrong. But as Jake’s personal life begins to implode around him, he finds an unlikely ally in Abby. He’s never met a woman he can talk to, joke with, or most importantly make music with.

As the week starts comes to a close, neither Abby nor Jake is ready to let go. Can a sweetheart Country songstress and a bad boy of Rock N Roll actually have a future together?

My Book Review : 3.5 out of 5 stars! It's a cute novel about a very good girl meeting a bad boy rocker in unusual circumstances and their lives intertwining. It has a great beginning that leads up to some entertaining and harsh events that set an intriguing tone for this novel.

However, not long after Jake bails on Abby, in the hotel while babysitting, my respect for him plummeted and coincidentally I found that from then on the plot/story line didn't get much better. Especially since Jake seems to be the one step forward and two steps back kind of guy. He also had a knack that if bad things weren't happening to him already then he would make trouble for himself and after a while I couldn't put up with it.

Yet, with all my complaining about Jake I still read the whole novel. I finished it mostly to see what would happen next and because, even though I might have not completely liked Jake, I did like how he and Abby were together when things were good between them. In addition, it helped that the other guys in Jake's band were a riot. =0)

Overall, I think it was an interesting beginning to this series. So, I do recommend it to those who like rock star romances, especially if you don't mind reading about the hero being a big jerk sometimes.

“Did I say something embarrassing to you before I puked and passed out?”
“Jake—”
His blue eyes blazed with emotion when he finally met my gaze. “I remember some of it. I know I said I wanted to fuck you, but didn’t I say something else? Something more...heartfelt, I hope?”
“Yes,” I whispered.
“What was it?” he prompted.
Somehow I remembered everything he had told me verbatim, so I repeated it. Jake’s eyes widened, and he sucked in a sharp breath. “But don’t worry about the wanting someone-like-me-to-love-you part. I mean, I know you were drunk,” I quickly added. I popped out of my seat like a Jack-In-The-Box and grabbed his bowl. After hustling over to the kitchen, I put it in the sink and turned on the water.
I gasped when Jake’s body pressed into my back. “Angel,” he murmured, his breath hot against my neck. I shivered in spite of the heat. “I meant every word of what I said—the good and the bad.”
Spinning around, I stared into his eyes. When I saw the sincerity in them, my heartbeat accelerated. “You did?”
“Yes, I really want to have sex while you’re wearing cowboy boots,” he deadpanned.
I laughed in spite of myself. I knew for someone like Jake, all the feelings stuff was getting too intense for him, and he needed to lighten it. “That’s good to know, but sadly, I don’t see it happening any time soon.”
“Bummer,” he replied. He reached over to sweep a lock of hair out of my face. Once he pinned it behind my ear, he smiled. ~ within Chapter 9 - titled 'Abby'
“I look like a real gentleman, don’t I?”
She grinned. “I think even my dad would approve of you tonight.”
Part of her comment stung, but I covered up my feelings by giving her a cocky smirk. “Yeah, well, what would he have to say about his daughter’s attire tonight?”
She glanced down at her dress. “You like it?”
Considering it had flimsy little straps, showed off her fabulous rack and was almost backless, hell yes, I liked it. “I love it. You look absolutely breathtaking tonight.”
Abby’s cheeks warmed with my compliments. She leaned up to kiss my lips. “Thank you.”
“You’re welcome.”
AJ strolled up to us. At Abby’s attire, his eyes widened. “Oh my God, Angel! That is just like the dress Sookie wore in the Season Two finale of True Blood!”
Abby rolled her eyes. “AJ, you’ve got a True Blood fetish.”
He grinned. “Dude, it’s basically vamp porn!”
She laughed. “You’re impossible.” ~ within Chapter 13 - titled 'JAKE'

Format: Kindle Edition | File Size: 3274 KB | Release Date: September 9, 2012 | Publisher: Self-Published | Obtained: Amazon.com

"Desire By Blood" [By Blood Series, Book 1] by Melissa Schroeder (aka Kiera West)

Author's Book Description : A man with a secret.

Nicodemus Blackburn has seen the best and worst of mankind. Five hundred years of dealing with them teaches the vampire to be very wary of the creatures. Unfortunately, alarming events leave him no choice but to enter the world of the ton to hunt a rogue vampire—one who is making his own army of blood thirsty vampires. Searching for the villain is not the worst of his troubles. That can be laid at the feet of bluestocking Lady Cordelia Collingsworth.

A woman on a mission.

Cordelia has always been an outcast, even in her own family. She has forged her way in the world with her ability to write, and Nico Blackburn is the focus of her next article. Before she can obtain any information about the mysterious man, she is pulled headlong into a scandal that leaves her with no choice but to marry Nico—a man with dangerous secrets.

A passion that consumes them both.

Thrust into a world she knows nothing of, Cordelia finds herself falling in love with a man who claims to be a vampire. As their passion grows, so does the danger around them and Nico will have to call on all of his powers to protect the one thing he has realized he cannot live without: his opinionated, infuriating, and thoroughly delectable wife.

My Book Review : 5 out of 5 stars!! Thrust into a marriage neither ever expected, this couple finds ways to overcome their fears and follow their hearts when everything is put on the line...

I loved this dynamic duo! Cordelia with her sass and Nico with his passion made me fly through this novel trying to read more, more, more about them!! This novel got me into vampire romances again! I especially loved that it was based in a historical setting because it gave you a whole new idea of that time period. In addition, the premise of the Vampire Alliance and all of the nuances that it means to be a vampire (both female and male) were fun to learn about! It'll be interesting to see where this series will lead us next.

I recommend this novel and it's series to anyone who likes vampire romances, especially those set in a historical setting.

Book Teaser(s) :
Nico could not discern Cordelia’s reaction. She stared at him, no expression on her face. For the longest of moments, he thought she might faint.
“Vampire?” she asked, her voice barely above a whisper.
“Yes.”
“You married me because I can birth vampires?” she asked.
“Yes.”
She started to back away from him. “And your parents are vampires?”
Relief started to edge out his worry. She was starting to understand. “Yes.”
He followed her steps, and she stopped by the door. “Stop stalking me.”
“I am not stalking you. You are running away.”
She took another step then stopped. Her spine stiffened. “You tell me you are a vampire and then expect me not to be afraid.”
He hated hearing her say she was afraid, but before he could reassure her he would never harm her, there was a knock at the door.
“Go away,” he shouted at the same time she said, “Come in.”
The door opened, bumping Cordelia in the back. She pitched forward, and Nico caught her to keep her from falling to the ground. He righted her. Cordelia wrested her arm out of his hand and shot him a dirty look. His mother poked her head through the opening.
His mother smiled at him reassuringly. “I see you told her.”
She looked at his mother. “Told me?”
“What we are. He told you.” His mother nodded, slipping through the door. “I have a feeling Nico did not explain it quite right.”
“That you are a family of vampires?”
Cordelia’s voice had grown smaller each time she spoke. He didn’t like it. Not one bit. He would rather have her yelling at him.
His mother took the comment the wrong way. Her smile widened as she stepped into the room. “There. That is all settled.”
“Settled.” Now, Cordelia’s voice was barely audible. His mother finally realized that there might be something wrong.
“Yes, dear. I can answer any of your questions.”
“Cordelia, you look ready to faint,” Nico said.
That snapped the glazed look out of her eyes, and her spine straightened. “I am not about to faint. What do you take me for? I am not some silly-brained woman who faints at the slightest of shocks.”
“But of course not, my love.”
She shot him a look that told him he was in more trouble than he had expected. ~ within Chapter 13
His father caught on also and came forward. He kissed his mother on the cheek. “You will take a footman with you.”
It was not a request. It was an order. Those usually did not go over well with his mother, but she smiled and patted his cheek.
“I daresay we need to take several. Cordelia and I are definitely not stupid,” his mother said with a smile.
He glanced at his wife to see her reaction. She smiled, and a bit smugly at that. Nico did not say a word as he approached her.
“You will be careful.” Again, he ordered, just like his father.
“I guess I could defy you, but that would be stupid. And I will remind you, husband, that the only time I was not careful, I ended up married to a vampire.”
He sensed their audience, but he ignored them. It was not hard to do. Whenever Cordelia was near, little else matter to him. Even before he neared her, he could scent her blood. It called to him like a siren’s song.
He gave her a kiss much as his father had his mother, but whispered just loud enough for her to hear, “Do not take too long, or I’ll come after you.”
When he pulled back, her face was delightfully pink. Her eyelids fluttered then she looked up at him. She might be able to hide a lot of things, but her attraction to him was not one of them.
“I don’t like to be threatened.” Her breath whispered over his skin. He knew from her cheeky tone she wasn’t angry.
“Be careful.” Nico leaned down and kissed her nose.
She nodded and followed his mother out the door. He watched the sway of her hips until she was out of view. When he turned around, the entire room was watching him.
“What?”
“It seems that our leader has truly fallen.” Saint said.
“What the bloody hell are you talking about? Leader?” He paused. “What do you mean fallen?” ~ within Chapter 15

Format: Kindle Edition | File Size: 252 KB | Release Date: June 16, 2013 | Publisher: Self-Published | Obtained: Amazon.com

"Claiming His Mate" [Crescent Moon Series, Book 2] by Savannah Stuart (aka Katie Reus)

My Book Summary : Six months ago, Max, a werewolf shifter and second-in-command of his pack, met his mate named Lauren, a jaguar shifter and the youngest daughter of her pride's alpha, but because of tensions between their pack & pride and because of other personal reasons he wasn't able to pursue her. That is until Lauren decides to break into Max alpha's house while the alpha is on his honeymoon so Lauren can steal back the broach that Max's pack took from her family a long time ago. However, Lauren's plan backfires, a little, when she gets into the house because Max is there to catch her. Now she's faced with the opportunity to get the broach back still if she'll agree to spend the week with him in his condo. How bad could it be...

My Book Review : 3 out of 5 stars! Two supposed enemies find that they would rather fight to be together then apart if only they can get everyone else to agree. I really liked this novel, yet I was pleasantly surprised to see how much of a plot was included in it. Max and Lauren were quite a pair, the way they circled around each other like prized champions until their feelings couldn't take it anymore was fun to read about.

I recommend this novel to anyone who likes to read about unique relationships within the shifter romance world!

Moving lightening fast, he reached into the front of her pocket and pulled out the paper Derrick had given her.
He let his claws extend, shredding the paper into confetti. She gasped and the entire table---and the waitstaff---went silent. The pieces silently fell to the floor. "She's not going to be calling you." Even though he spoke to Derrick, he kept his gaze on her.
Fire erupted in Lauren's eyes, her inner jaguar peeking through as they transformed into straight feline, amber and glowing with anger. "I'll call whoever I want." ~ within Chapter 4
