Invisible Children | Kony 2012

I learned about this organization when a coworker of mine emailed me this link wanting me to check out the video that the article has on the page because her son sent it to her and she said it just had a wonderful message and I really should listen to it. Well that was about a month ago (in March) and today I finally got around to going to the link and looking into it. As you can see (unless it's changed since I've been to the link) the video has been taken down so I went to the Invisible Children's website to see if the video was there and to learn what I could and WOW I am SOOO glad that I did. They have an even better video posted (view below) and now I am so informed that I wish I could do more than just make a blog post about it but I HAD to tell you about what was going on encase (like me) you didn't know but feel you should help out. So, please view the below video it talks about what Invisible Children is, how they are trying to make a difference, and how you can too. It's only 20 minutes of your time. Thank you in advance.

A Brief Description of Invisible Children & Kony 2012:

What is the goal of KONY 2012?

Invisible Children has been working for 9 years to end Africa’s longest-running armed conflict. U.S. military advisers are currently deployed in Central Africa on a “time-limited” mission to stop Kony and disarm the LRA. If Kony isn’t captured this year, the window will be gone. [read more]

Feasted On: Virgin River Series, Book 18

- This is an ARC book - Available Formats through Amazon.com: Hardcover - Pages: 377; Paperback - Pages: 377; Kindle Edition - File Size: 547 KB | Expected Release Date: February 28, 2012 | Publisher: Mira Books | Obtained: NetGalley

"Redwood Bend" [Virgin River Series, Book 18] by Robyn Carr

My Book Summary : After living across the country away from Katie's older brother, her only family, she's ready to move closer to him, possibly even in Virgin River, so she can give her 5 year old twin boys more stability again. However, during their move, just on the outskirts of Virgin River, their vehicle gets a flat tire and Katie gets a chance meeting with Dylan, who just happens to be on a motorcycle ride with his buddies while staying in Virgin River. The chemistry and attraction between them is immediate. Soon even after Dylan's friends all head back home, he sticks around to be with Katie and her boys pushing back his original plans until his time runs out. Nevertheless, after everything they shared together will either of them be willing to let the other go once it's time to do so?

My Book Review : 4.5 out of 5 stars! A romantic, heart-warming, sweet, and enticing novel that makes you wish there was more to read about! I fell in love with the main characters while getting to enjoy the brief updates of the other characters around the town. To tell you the truth, even though I requested to read/review this book from NetGalley because I wanted to see what happened to Virgin River's characters after I read "Temptation Ridge," book 6 in the Virgin River Series, I was still a little worried that I would be disappointed in this novel as I was with the previous novel. Therefore, I am delighted to say I was really impressed with how this story was written, how the plot was laid out, and the antics that the characters of Virgin River got into!

The only flaw I found in this book, and it almost made me not enjoy this book as much as I did, was when Katie found out her big surprise! She doesn't handle it well at all. So much so, that I was very annoyed with her. However, I was very happy with how it all turned around once Dylan came back to make amends.

I would recommend this book to ANYONE who likes contemporary romance novels, and to those who are already fans of the Virgin River series!! Read it!!

My Previous Review(s) for this Series : Book 6

Author Book Trailer :

Book Teaser(s) :
"Ever been on a motorcycle?" he asked.
"Of course I've been on a motorcycle. I secretly dated a boy with a bike in high school."
"Secretly?"
"I was not allowed on the back of a motorcycle or in the bed of a pickup truck. I beat the odds." Then she grinned.
That grin of hers was completely irresistible. It made him want to grab her right here in front of the new elementary school. "If I were going to be around when the boys were sixteen, I'd tell."
"I'm not worried" she said confidently. He'd be gone before they were five and a half. "You won't be."
He didn't like the way she said that, but he shook it off. Ignored it. ~ within Chapter 5

What was I thinking?: Accidentally Yours Series, Book 1

Format: Kindle Edition | File Size: 493 KB | Release Date: February 2012 | Publisher: Self-Published | Obtained: Amazon.com

"ACCIDENTALLY IN LOVE WITH...A GOD?" [Accidentally Yours Series, Book 1] by Mimi Jean Pamfiloff

What was I thinking? : Well, I had just finished "Feral Sins" and because of the star rating I gave that book Amazon.com recommended this book to me. With all of the positive reviews/ratings this book had on Amazon.com I thought this would be an interesting read ... I was sadly mistaken.

My Book Summary : Emma has spent all of her life with a secret friend, a male voice that she has kept quiet, and only she can hear. However, after twenty-two years it's time to part ways between her and Guy (aka the voice). To do so will throw Emma into a dangerous world she's not familiar with, will give her truths about who she really is that she isn't ready for, and will make Emma and Guy both prove to themselves how much each of them can handle. However, when the time comes to each go their own way, will they be able to or want to?

My Book Review : 1 out of 5 stars. I couldn't finish this book because I could not stand all of the whining, secrets, and childish behavior that the main characters kept up throughout this whole book .... or at least up until Chapter 28 where I stopped reading. I do believe the plot is a good one, but I just could not connect to the characters and they were to annoying for me to really like anything about them. The only character I did like was Cimil, but since she wasn't in the book that much I could have gotten the wrong impression of her. *shrug* Who knows.

On the other hand, from what I've read of the book there are a few funny parts and/or sayings, which did help me get through what I did of the book.

That being said I really am NOT recommending this book at all but if you decide on reading it, I hope you'll like it better than I did. =0/

Author's Series Extras : What WOULD Cimil Do?

Book Teaser(s) :
"Why does he have turquoise eyes?" It couldn't be a coincidence that they looked just like the man's eyes from my dreams. Could it?
"Christ, Emma, put it on the goddamned question list."
I followed the boy for what seemed like an eternity but my muscles burned, and, finally, I had to slow to a fast walk. "I...can't...Guy," I panted, trying to catch my breath. "The air...is way... too thick for any aerobic activities."
"I told you, you need to work out more."
"God. You...are...un...belie...vable," I choked out.
"You have no idea," he replied. ~ within Chapter 11
"What's going to happen?" It was a stupid question, I know. Those Maaskab were coming for me and were, apparently, bad enough that Guy's men preferred to fight at this crazy redheaded demon's side than take them on alone. It felt like a competition for the evil, eviler, and evilest. I just hoped my team was the evilest. Go team? ~ within Chapter 20

Blog Tour - Sunny Days for Sam by Jennifer Shirk | Interview & Giveaway

Today I'm turning my blog over to Jennifer Shirk, who I interviewed about her latest novel "Sunny Days for Sam!!"

ALSO -- Be sure to comment on this post to be able to sign up for this tour's GIVEAWAYs (listed below)!! [Blog Tour will run from April 2 - 13, 2012]

My Q&A with Jennifer Shirk :

Jess : What books did you enjoy reading while growing up?

Jennifer : I loved humorous books—especially Judy Blume. And now I write a lot of humor in my own books too.

Jess : What appeals to you when writing a romance novel?

Jennifer : I love the special little chemistry you can create between such different people. It’s fun to put two people together and watch what happens.

Jess : Which of your characters would you most & least to invite to dinner, from which book and why?

Jennifer : That’s tough! But I would probably invite Ben Capshaw from my romantic comedy "The Role Of A Lifetime." Why? He’s a handsome movie star, and he happens to be a very funny guy. :)

Jess : What sparked the idea for your "Sunny Days for Sam?"

Jennifer : We were in Disney World on a family trip and when I saw all those women walking around dressed as Disney Princesses, I thought it would be so fun to have my character start off with a similar job. The book kind of has a Cinderella theme running through it too.

Jess : What is the most romantic thing one of your characters, from "Sunny Days for Sam," said or did?

Jennifer : Well, I can’t give away the ending, but I just so happen to ADORE the way Sam proposes to Sunny at the end of the book. It’s very romantic. :)

Jess : If "Sunny Days for Sam" were to be made into a film, who do you see playing the main characters and why?

Jennifer : Well, that’s funny you ask, because I actually did do a search of famous faces before I started writing the book in order to get a clear picture of my characters. I chose Sam as Patrick Dempsey and Sunny as Kate Bosworth.

Jess : Which usually comes first for you, the character(s) story or the idea for the novel?

Jennifer : Usually, I get an idea for a scene, and then the plot comes from that and then the characters.

Jess : In regards to your most recent novel, if you could write it all over again, would you change anything about it?

Jennifer : I think I might have made Sunny’s friend single instead of married. It would be nice to do a sequel of sorts for this book. Not that it couldn’t still happen...

Jess : How many books have you written?

Jennifer : Five. Three are published. One is under consideration now and one will never see the light of day.

Jess : Which is your favorite and why?

Jennifer : Oh, tough question! I can’t answer. A mother doesn’t say which one of her babies is her favorite—even though she may think it. LOL

Jess : Do you have any other projects in the works? If so, can you share a little of your current work with us?

Jennifer : I have a new book called "Kissing Kendall" under consideration with my editor. It’s a continuation of my last book called "Georgie on His Mind." Only this time it’s Georgie’s brother Brad’s book.

Jess : What book are you reading now? How do you like it so far?

Jennifer : Right now I’m reading a YA novel by Amanda Hocking called "Switched." I’m completely gobbling it up!!

Thanks so much for having me!!

"Sunny Days for Sam" by Jennifer Shirk

Author's Book Description :

Sunnyva “Sunny” Fletcher is a firm believer in fairy tales. With the recent debt she’s acquired, the hope of something magical happening in her life is the only thing keeping her going. She needs a job fast. So when Sunny learns the sexy new vacationer in town is looking for a nanny, she starts to believe she just may have a fairy godmother after all!

Internet guru Sam Calloway is only in town for the summer and needs a nanny for his two small children. However, the beautiful and inexperienced Sunny is not exactly the kind of caregiver Sam has in mind. It doesn’t take long for Sunny’s tenderhearted and bubble-blowing ways to soon have the children—and Sam—enamored with her. She’s a dream come true. But after what Sam’s been through, he’s stopped believing in fairy tales long ago.

Sunny manages to work her way into Sam’s closed-off heart, but at the end of the summer, will the workaholic dad go back to his life in New York City, or will he decide his days are much sunnier here with Sunny?

Book Excerpt :

Kim kicked her under the table, signaling her to say something about the nanny position before he disappeared.

Ow!” Sunny scowled at Kim. Rubbing her shin, she turned to Sam. “Uh, look, I was wondering since I need a job now, and you’re, well...”

A dawning of realization sparked in Sam’s eyes, and his expression grew several degrees colder. “Ah, I see what this is all about. Now I know why you were so eager to help me. I’m sorry but my company isn’t hiring at the moment. Of course, you’re welcome to send in your resume for us to have on file.”

Resume? Company? She didn’t even know he had a company to send a resume to. “Um, no, actually, I was more interested in the, uh, nanny position.”

Sam blinked, then threw his head back and laughed. “You want me to hire you as a nanny?”

Emma stopped blowing bubbles in her milk and looked up with wide excited eyes. “Sunny’s going to be our new nanny?”

“Oh, cool!” Cole exclaimed. “You’re not mean like Natasha was and you’re not old like that Mrs. Ferguson. Mrs. Ferguson was always putting things where they didn’t belong and she couldn’t see so good.”

Sam gave him a stern look. “Hey, that’s not nice to say, Cole.”

“Sorry. But if she was a knight, she would be Mrs. Forgets-a-lot.”

Sunny banked down a bubble of laughter.

“Well, it doesn’t matter how Mrs. Ferguson was, because Sunny is not going to be your new nanny,” Sam firmly told them.

Any lingering laughter Sunny might have had died on the spot. “Oh, but I do have references!” she cried. “I’ve done a little babysitting on the side for years. I can be at your house at whatever time you want, except Friday and Saturday nights. And... and... I—I can even cook. Sometimes.”

Sometimes?” he asked.

She shrugged guiltily. “Well, it’s usually hit-or-miss with me. I do make very good peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and last year at the County Fall Festival I took first place for my double chocolate chip brownies.”

Sam let out an audible sigh. If Sunny was a betting woman, she’d wager he didn’t seem too impressed with those credentials. “Look, Miss, I prefer using an agency and going through all the proper channels. No offense. And I need someone willing to put in at least fifty hours a week.”

Sunny almost pinched herself when she heard fifty hours a week. That would pull in a lot of money. She obviously wasn’t doing a great job selling herself, though. Sam was already back to calling her Miss instead of Sunny. She needed this job. But what else could she say? She finally looked to Kim for help.

Kim took the cue and stood, taking Sam by the arm and leading him out of earshot of the children. “Well, just so you know,” she said in a hushed tone, “this is a small town. There’s no agency here, and from what your children said, I’m not so sure you’ve had the greatest luck with that. So you should at least consider Sunny. It’s really simple when you think about it. You need a nanny and she needs a job. Anyone in town will vouch for her. Heck, if you’d use your eyes, you can see for yourself that she’s great with kids.”

Sam rolled his eyes then his gaze fell to his children. Emma had already climbed up onto Sunny’s lap, running her little fingers through her straight blond hair. Cole had his hands in prayer position next to her. Sunny said a silent prayer, too. If Sam didn’t fall for this kind of corny Norman Rockwell pose, then she had no absolutely chance in securing the position. She held her breath and waited.

Sam walked back toward them with a resigned look. His cell phone went off again, but he ignored it this time. Pinching the bridge of his nose, he finally muttered, “Fine.”

“Yay!” the kids shouted, giggling and dancing around the table.

The breath Sunny had been holding rushed out of her lungs. She almost thought she’d misheard him. “You mean it? You’ll really hire me?”

“Yeah, but let’s not get carried away. It’ll just be temporary. Let’s see how the week goes first.”

Sunny high-fived Kim then jumped out of her chair. She was so happy, she almost threw her arms around Sam and kissed him. Fortunately, Sam’s disapproving scowl kept her firmly rooted to the two foot distance between them. He didn’t have much confidence in her, but that was okay. She had more than enough for both of them.

“Oh, you won’t be sorry,” she assured him. “I’ll be the best nanny slash brownie maker slash ex-princess you’ve ever had. I guarantee, after this week, you’ll be so pleased, you won’t ever want to let me go.”

Sam folded his arms and smirked. “Yeah well, we’ll see about that.”

Idolizing In: The Phoenix Pack Series, Book 1

Format: Kindle Edition | File Size: 772 KB | Release Date: March 2012 | Publisher: Self-Published | Obtained: Amazon.com

"Feral Sins" [The Phoenix Pack Series, Book 1] by Suzanne Wright

My Book Summary : Taryn has a problem. She is being forced into a mating that she wants no part of. However, even though she is an Alpha female she is also a latent, meaning that even though she has the feels her wolf inside her and has wolf instincts she doesn't have the ability to shift into her wolf form, which makes everyone think they have the right to attack and pick on her. So, when she finds herself inside another packs territory with a proposal to get out of the forced mating she's surprised and a little intrigued in the proposal. The biggest problem with the proposal is it would mean a temporary mating with the Alpha of the Phoenix Pack, Trey, who has known to turn feral sometimes. However, even with that knowledge Taryn's wolf can't seem to get enough of him and feels safe around him, so she agrees, with the hope that the three months of this mating will fly by. In return, she's supposed to help him gain alliances so Trey can better protect his pack to an upcoming fight that he has against him.

Will the agreement between Taryn and Trey work out in their favors? Will they find that their wolves like each other more then they originally knew? Could thing actually work out between them and possibly grow into something more?

Or will everything fall apart when they find out that there is a traitor inside Trey's pack targeting Taryn, even before the fight already planned to head Trey's way?

My Book Review : 5 out of 5 stars!! This novel has a really good plot along with being spicy enough, with its erotic scenes, to get you all hot and bothered by the time this book is over! Trey is a possessive and domineering werewolf who isn't always in control of his wolf side. Taryn is a sarcastic, smart, feisty, and even though she's on the small side, she knows how to protect herself. Together they are an unstoppable duo that are perfect for each other and fun to read about!

I truly loved this plot (and subplots), the erotic scenes, and all of the characters ... well at least the ones in Trey's pack and Nick. =0) I can't wait to see where the author will take us next with this series!

I recommend this book and series to everyone who enjoys a suspenseful erotic-packed paranormal romance novel!

Book Teaser(s) :
She rolled her eyes. "Easy there, Flinstone."
"Flinstone?"
"If you're Alpha of a place like this, you're Fred Flinstone. I have no intention of hiding from you. You're mistaking me for one of your submissive Jane's. That's not to say there won't be some struggling involved if you expect to get in that bed with me."
"I'll be following you there in about twenty-minutes. We'll let the struggling commence then. But, what with your wolf riding you so hard to complete the mating, I can't see you struggling that much."
"Ah, so you're a resident of La La Land. I bet you're Sultan there too." The sound of Dante's throaty laugh followed her out of the kitchen. ~ within Chapter 4
"I'm heading to bed. Can't stay awake any longer. Goodnight." She had only taken two steps toward the door when Dominic called her name. She turned and raised a brow questioningly. He motioned with one finger for her to go to where he was on the end of the chaise. Rolling her eyes, she walked over and sighed.
He smiled. "I just made you come with one finger. Imagine what I could do with my whole hand." Everyone groaned. "What? That was a good one." ~ within Chapter 14

Made the Grade: The Werewolf's Wife by Michele Hauf

- This is an ARC book - Available Formats through Amazon.com: Paperback - Pages: 281; Kindle Edition - File Size: 460 KB | Expected Release Date: April 03, 2012 | Publisher: Harlequin Nocturne | Obtained: NetGalley

"The Werewolf's Wife" [A Part of the Beautiful Creatures World] by Michele Hauf

My Book Summary : This book picks up Ridge's story not long after "Her Vampire Husband" ...

Now that Ridge is the Principle (aka the Alpha) of the Northern Pack it's time for him to start acting like it. The first step in doing so is setting a good example by settling down with someone and starting a family of his own. Yet for him to do so he'll need to divorce the woman who became his wife thirteen years ago, they had one wild night together in Las Vegas and then went their separate ways. However, when he goes to see Abigail to have her sign the divorce papers he gets more than he bargained for.

Thirteen years ago, Abigail would have called herself the baddest witch of the Midwest and it would have been true, but times have changed since she became a mother twelve years ago. However, even though she never expected to see Ridge again she knew the day would come at some point and is very thankful that that day happens to be today since she just learned that her son has been kidnapped and she has 48-hours to get something that the kidnappers want for her son. Ridge is like a knight in shining armor to Abigail and for his help in rescuing her son she'll sign the divorce papers. Nevertheless, when all things are said and done will either of them want to say goodbye at the end?

My Book Review : 3.5 out of 5 stars! This sweet and unique novel is full of twists and action! Even though this book has a slow start, I was intrigued by the dynamics of the life the characters are set in as well as the attraction that blooms off the pages between the main characters! Abigail fights not only the current situation that she's in but also herself in what she thinks is the right course for her and her son against what she wishes would happen for her. While Ridge deals with his own issues from his childhood, their past night together, and what his future might hold.

It all comes together in an adventure-packed book that I would recommend to anyone who enjoys Michele Hauf's novels and/or to anyone who likes paranormal romances!!

Feasted On: Phoenix Rising Series, Book 1

Format: Paperback | Pages: 342 | Release Date: February 28, 2012 | Publisher: Brava Books | Obtained: Cynthia Eden's Twitter Giveaway

"Fever" [Phoenix Rising Series, Book 1] by Joan Swan

My Book Summary : A case of mistaken identity couldn't come at the worst time for Alyssa, especially when it causes her to be taken hostage by a prisoner, Teague, in the middle of his abdomen ultrasound. Now she's on the run, not willingly (especially at first), with Teague and involved in his floundering plan on gaining his freedom while getting custody of his daughter back. Throughout the experience, Alyssa will find out how much and what she's willing to handle, along with finding out that not everything in life is really, what it seems.

Teague has been in prison for a crime he didn't commit. After three years, his plan to escape has finally here and his hostage (who's also his leverage in getting his daughter back) isn't anything like he thought she would be. She's strong, bullheaded, and very determined in everything she does. Throughout the "hostage" situation, they go through a lot together. Therefore, not long after he finds out who Alyssa really is, they get on friendlier terms with each other.

In addition, Alyssa decides that she needs to help Teague become a free man, just more legally then he had planned. In doing so their lives take massive turns, they both have to decide what they most want in their lives, and what they are willing to do (and/or give up) to make those dreams come true.

My Book Review : 4 out of 5 stars! This riveting and enticing novel will keep you on your toes while wishing for the romance relationship between the main characters and Teague's main goals to all work out for the best. I could not believe some of the twists that happened in this book, but it has government conspiracy out the wazoo! The characters in this novel are very dynamic, diverse, sizzling and soo much more!

However, I will say at the beginning of the novel (like Taz and sometimes Teague) I was annoyed with how Alyssa handled herself or some of the reactions she had to her situation. Yet even as I say that, it really appealed to be that she was portrayed as such a strong heroine. Alyssa never backed down from anything that came at her throughout this whole book, which was very admiring.

Than the only other thing, that I wish could have been more developed was the things Tara did. Are they going to prosecute her? Was it really an accident? Did the warehouse fire make her do some of the things she did, like Suzanna?

I hope that my unanswered questions will be answered in the second novel in this series, "Blaze," or at least in some book down the line. Since in my opinion I don't think it was an accident. Nevertheless, until the author tells us ... who really knows the truth? =0/

Anyway ....

All in all, I REALLY liked this novel and I have high hopes for this series! I recommend this book to anyone who likes to read contemporary romance novels with a slight paranormal feel to it.

I hope you'll like it as much as I did!!

Book Teaser(s) :
"Shhh." Creek silenced her with a wave of his hand.
"The San Quentin inmates subdued guards and reportedly escaped the facility with a woman whose identity remains undisclosed. It is unclear at this time whether that woman was a hostage of an accomplice."
"Accomplice?" Alyssa sat straight up and swung her legs over the side of the bed. "You've got to be kidding me. Why would they . . . ? How could they . . . ?" ~ within Chapter 8
"You don't strike me as a random cruising kind of guy," Alyssa said. "Why are we here?"
"What kind of guy do I strike you as after our whole fifty-six hours together?"
"Like a guy who has secrets."
"That's not news, not is it?"
He turned into the parking lot, his attention scanning each row as he drove. ~ within Chapter 13

Format: Kindle Edition | File Size: 322 KB | Release Date: April 2011 | Publisher: Harlequin Presents | Obtained: Amazon.com / Carrie Ann Ryan's Giveaway

"An Accidental Birthright" by Maisey Yates

My Book Summary : Alison has always wanted to be a mother. Over the years, she has planned her life so she could get pregnant and become the best possible mother there could be. However, never in her plans did she ever want a husband or plan on having a father for her child, assuming she could be enough for the baby.

Now she is currently pregnant with her first child, and it should be the happiest time in her life. And it was, up until the clinic she went to called to tell her that they mixed up the samples that she chose with another person’s accidentally. Therefore, Alison has a big problem on her hands. She chose her donor specifically because as she is a non-affected carrier of Cystic Fibrosis, she wanted to have a father who didn't have that genetic flaw so there wasn't the possibility that her child could get the disease like her sister had. With those thoughts in mind, she goes to find the father of her child so she can be certain everything will be okay and finds out the shock of her life ...

... the father of her child, Maximo (Max), is the Prince of Turan and her baby will be a royal heir!!

Where for Max, after recently dealing with a devastating loss of his wife a few years ago, this is an unexpected second chance at the child he was working for before his wife died. There is no way he is willing to let Alison go. Therefore, the only conclusion is for them to get married! The big question is can they make it work, especially since neither planned on marrying anyone anytime soon...

My Book Review : 4.5 out of 5 stars!! This novel is the perfect complement to anyone looking for an easy read that will entice you enough to wish you were Alison!! I thoroughly enjoyed this novel, from how unique the plot was to the budding romance and deep respect that you read from Max & Alison!! They were just the type of couple that held your attention enough to wish there was more to the story!! And that was my only problem with this story .... I could not get enough of it! =0)

I recommend it to anyone who's a romantic at heart!

    - On a side note -
I really hope that doctor of Max's got fired, since she was a real bitch! Plus, I am really curious as to what happened between Alison and her new in-laws. Mostly I want to know how their relationship is now as it was really rocky throughout the book. =0/

Check out Maisey's answers to my above side note!!

Author's Novel Extras : Behind the Scenes of An Accidental Birthright | Maximo's Trading Card

    Book Teaser(s) :
It wasn't a demanding kiss. It was a slow seduction of her body, her mind, her senses. She'd never been kissed like this, with this level of skill and sensuality.
She'd kissed men before. Mostly back in college when she'd bothered with the pretense of casual dating. But never had a kiss made her feel so hollow, so desirous for more, as if she was in need of something only this man possessed. ~ within Chapter 3
    "I promised I wouldn't force you, Alison, but I didn't say I wouldn't seduce you."
Her stomach flipped, and as her nausea was starting to fade already there was no way she could place the blame on her pregnancy. "Well, that isn't...it's not...you won't be able to."
He leaned in, his lips just a breath away from hers. "What did I tell you about issuing challenges?"
"I..." She couldn't tear her eyes away from his mouth, couldn't stop herself from leaning in just slightly... ~ within Chapter 7

Made the Grade: Million-Dollar Love-Child by Sarah Morgan

Format: Kindle Edition | File Size: 168 KB | Release Date: November 2006 | Publisher: Harlequin Presents | Obtained: Amazon.com / Carrie Ann Ryan's Giveaway

    "Million-Dollar Love-Child" by Sarah Morgan

My Book Summary : Kimberley has had to deal with some struggles in her past but having to go to Luciano (Luc) for help is one of the biggest struggles she has ever had to deal with, yet. When she meets with Luc she has to inform him of their son, whom she's there because of the danger he recently came into. However, things get even more complicated when Luc tells her he flat out doesn't believe her and thinks she just another gold digger. Nevertheless, after Kimberley tells him she's willing to do anything to get the money she's asking for. Luc is finally willing to make an offer, her in his bed for as long as he wants, and with no other choice, she agrees. What will happen once their passion ignites again? Will they be able to walk away from each other like they plan or will their lives change for the better?

My Book Review : 3 out of 5 stars. Wow! Luc is the most possessive, arrogant, and domineering hero that I have ever read about thus far from all the books I've read. I'm not completely sure if that's a good thing or not. However, he does have a few redeemable qualities that are shown to you within the last few chapters of this novel.

I did enjoy reading about the sexual tension between the main characters. Since that is the main thing that you read about between this couple. However, this novel does have a decent plot and I didn't completely except some of the twists that were thrown at me which made me very intrigued as to what the ending would hold.

Check out this novel ... you might be as surprised as I was.

My Previous Review(s) for this Author : The Christmas Marriage Rescue | The Midwife's Christmas Miracle

    Book Teaser(s) :
    She agreed to this.
For the sum of five million dollars and to protect her child, she'd agreed to it and she just wanted to get the next two weeks over with as quickly as possible and get home.
She wanted to be with her son. She missed him dreadfully.
And she was afraid. Desperately afraid that she might turn back into the helpless, needy woman Luc had seduced all those years before. ~ within Chapter 5
'Because tonight I'm more interested in your mind than your body. We're going to talk, meu amorzinho, and I'm going to find out everything there is to know about you.'
That soft mouth, the same mouth that had taken him to paradise and back, curved into a wry smile. 'And what about you, Luc? Are you going to talk too? Or am I going to be the one doing all the giving? Perhaps I want to know everything there is to know about you too.'
Luc gave a brief frown but recovered himself in time. If she wanted him to talk too, then he could do that. ~ within Chapter 6

Idolizing In: The Unofficial Zack Warren Fan Club by J. C. Isabella

    Format: Kindle Edition | File Size: 423 KB | Release Date: 2012 | Publisher: Self-Published | Obtained: Amazon.com / Carrie Ann Ryan's Giveaway

"The Unofficial Zack Warren Fan Club" by J. C. Isabella

My Book Summary : When Chloe was a little girl she had a crush on Zack, and with a few friends of hers who also liked Zack, they created 'The Unofficial Zack Warren Fan Club.' They would spy on him and follow him around. Somehow the girls' activities were done with Zack none the wiser. However, when Zack was a young man he would pull pranks on Chloe, and when Chloe was in fifth grade it was the last straw for her when he stole the pink streamers off her bike. Therefore, she vowed that she hated him from that point on and had nothing to do with the club. Yet when Chloe left the club her friend, Lana, took it over.

Now as a freshman in college, Lana has taken the club from high school to college and Chloe thinks it's high time to put an end to it. Especially since some of the things the girls in the club want to know is really an evasion of privacy. Another reason Chloe wants it to stop is because recently her mother decided to marry Zack's father so they'll be living together soon which will be hard enough without having the fear that he'll find out about the club any moment to worry about.

Even though Chloe and Zack both go to the same college, during spring break they finally have to deal with each other on a permanent basis since they help there parents move into their new house. Soon they find that they have more in common with each other then they ever thought, and become friends or at least they try to be for their parents' sake. Then they find out that their might be more behind their dislike for each other then they originally thought, more like they don't really dislike each other at all. They really like one another. However, with the new family relationships between them and the "hidden" club Chloe has to deal with, how can any romantic relationship between them ever work out for the best?

My Book Review : 5 out of 5 stars!! I LOVED the characters in this novel!!! Chloe and Zack are quite a pair about keeping false fronts about their feelings to each other for everyone else while their true feelings are quite different!! Plus, I loved the fact that they went, pretty much, their whole lives in love with each other and only now taping into those feelings. *sigh* It is a fun story that I thoroughly enjoyed reading!! From them finding out the truth of one another, to getting used to their new living arrangements, to dealing with their new jealousies and old secrets .... I just could not get enough to this book or this pair!!

I recommend this to anyone who enjoys young romances in the YA genre!! Especially ones that deal with old crushes, quirky friends, and guys that want to play games in more ways then one.

    Book Teaser(s) :
    Teaser #1
“Is it just me, or do things here seem a bit, uh, bizarre?” Chloe asked as I stopped the van to let a man and his goat cross. He was walking him on a leash like a dog, and he was the only sign of life. I didn’t see anyone else around.
“I was thinking more along the lines of the Twilight Zone.” I slid closer to her, keeping my foot firmly on the break. She glanced up, curious. I pushed down the lock on her door, and then resumed my position at the wheel with a good amount of space between us, but I left my arm draped behind her on the seat.
    “Why did you do that?”
“It seemed like a good idea.” I laughed, maybe a little nervously at her questioning look. I hoped my actions weren’t so obvious.
“Am I hallucinating?” She pointed out the front window. ~ within Chapter 6
    “Mind if I join you?”
“It’s your social life at stake if you do.”
“Nah, Lana can’t touch me. I made her queen, remember that.” He dug into a sub from the cafeteria, hunching over the grass so nothing landed on his crisp baseball uniform.
“Why are you so dressed up?”
“Lost a bet. Have to wear this for the next three days.” He sucked down half a coke before speaking again. “Listen, this thing with you and Lana, it creeps me out.”
    I froze. “What thing?”
“Dude, I’m not in the dark anymore.”
“I’m not sure if I follow.”
    “The club, Baker. I know.”
I’m so dead. “Excuse me, but, oh shit.” ~ within Chapter 17

Blog Tour - Feasted On: Omegas In Love by Annie Nicholas | Interview, Review, & Giveaway

Today I'm turning my blog over to Annie Nicholas, who I interviewed about her latest novel "Omegas In Love," which is the 4th book in The Vanguards Series!!

ALSO -- Be sure to comment on this post to be able to sign up for this tour's GIVEAWAYs (listed below)!! [Blog Tour will run from March 19 - 30, 2012]

My Q&A with Annie Nicholas :

Jess : Why did you choose to pursue this career path?

Annie : In all honesty, I think this career chose me. I’ve always loved to read. Where most children were told to stop watching TV and play outside, I was told to put down the book. LOL It never occurred to me to try writing until a few years ago. I was ill, house bound, and bored to death with nothing left to read so I entertained myself with a my own story.

Jess : What books did you enjoy reading while growing up?

Annie : I loved the Narnia series and was so excited when they came out in movies. (Probably more than my kids)

Jess : Which of your characters would you most/least to invite to dinner, from which book and why?

Annie : The least would be Tane, a Nosferatu vampire, from my Angler series. I would probably end up being dinner. LOL

But I would love to be invited to Pia’s parents' house for dinner. She is my succubus from Confessions of a Succubus series due to be released in fall. Her family is outrageous and Pia is playful and so much fun.

Jess : If you had to describe Katrina & Tyler (from "Omegas In Love") in one word, what would it be?

    Annie : Devoted.

Jess : What sparked the idea for your Vanguards Series?

Annie : A long-ass drive to Canada and my home town, where I grew up a nerd, inspired this series. All the books I’d read were about alpha shifters, confident and dominant. What if I’d been placed in a pack? What happens to weaker shifters? My omegas were born. Sometimes a woman just needs to root for the underdog.

Jess : Which usually comes first for you, the character(s) story or the idea for the novel?

Annie : The character makes the story. Each person reacts differently in a situation so once I know who I’m writing about I start tossing conflicts at them and see how they react. This is where the stories begin.

Jess : In regards to your most recent novel, "Omegas In Love," if you could write it all over again, would you change anything about it?

    Annie : Not a thing.

Jess : How many books have you written? Which is your favorite and why?

Annie : I have seven books published. Two novels in The Angler series and four novellas with The Vanguards, then a stand alone novella titled "Irresistible."

My favorite book is "Catch" because its action packed, I made sure you could never guess what will happen next, and it all tied in well together.

Jess : Do you have any other projects in the works? If so, can you share a little of your current work with us?

Annie : I’m in the process of editing the next Vanguards novella, "The Sigma," releasing August 2012. And also will begin edits on a new series titled "Confessions of a Succubus," the first novel releasing this fall. Very exciting stuff. There are a few super secret projects I’m working on as well for this year.

"Omegas In Love" [The Vanguards Series, Book 4] by Annie Nicholas

My Book Summary : Tyler & Katrina have been together for just over a year and since things are going so well, Tyler plans to pop the question soon. However, on the day he plans to do so Katrina's past, and her previous pack from China, comes back to haunt them and kidnap her. She left that pack years ago because of the abuse that was going on, and doesn't want to go back. Yet when she tries to escape, she finds that she can't seem to reach her wolf. Scared of her previous Alpha and lost as to what to do, Katrina has to wait it out in hopes that Tyler will be able to rescue her.

Tyler knew Katrina had a bad past and pack, but he never really knew the details until now. In addition, even though he isn't one of the fighters in his pack, he is determined to bring Katrina back to him. But can he do so before it's too late and at what cost to himself or his pack?

My Book Review : 4 out of 5 stars! This is a quick read that is action-packed with HOT sex scenes, pack support, werewolf fights (some clever and some brutal), treachery! This book threw me for a loop with how many storylines it had in it while being a short story and being oh-so-good!! I LOVED IT!! Along with the characters, that I always enjoyed and liked getting brief updates about!

My only problem was I wish it were longer. Not because the plot needed it, but just because I didn't want the book to end!!

I recommend this to anyone who has read the previous stories in the Vanguards Series and/or to anyone who likes reading action-packed (in more ways than one) paranormal romances!!

My Previous Review(s) for this Series : Book 2

    Author's Series Extras : Daedalus' Trading Card | Eric's Trading Card | Robert's Trading Card | Tyler's Trading Card

    Book Teaser(s) :
“I can’t stay here. I’m going with you.” The doors opened and they rode to the lobby.
Eric leaned against the wall, his head hung low and his shoulders bent. “There’s going to be fighting.”
“I know.” He couldn’t meet his gaze. The sting of the comment too sharp on his battered soul. Over the past two years, Eric had matured from super geek to ultra alpha. Tyler gazed down at his own slight frame. Nothing had changed. Why did Katrina want him?
“You haven’t trained much, Tyler. I don’t want to rescue the girls and lose you in the process. Let me, Robert, and Esther go.”
All those chances to learn to fight and he’d blown them off, always thinking that there’d be other options besides violence. Now, all he wanted to do was tear Chen’s head off with his bare hands. ~ within Chapter 4

    Book Excerpt :

Katrina attempted to transform into her wolf-beast form as Chen’s guard dragged her through the panicked human crowd. Her beast didn’t respond. Sharp claws of fear tore into her heart. What was wrong?
Her beast used to cower like this in the past when faced with Chen, but they’d grown so much since escaping to America. It only took one moment in her old alpha’s presence and they’d lost all they had gained. No, please no, she needed to connect with her beast and fight.
She looked at her true mate a last time as he stood in his red tinged magnificent form against Chen and his pack mates. Their gazes met and she reached for him, hoping one day he might forgive her secrets.
If only the past would have remained buried. No one knew of her life in China--she wanted the depravity forgotten. Her best friend, Sugar, had once told her to build a wall around the haunting memories, and she had. Now, Chen, her worst nightmare, showed up here, halfway around the world.
What did an alpha of a large shifter clan want with the lowest of daughters of her birth pack? She’d been nothing but garbage to him. There must be other females with the same pure shifter blood as her. Chen could mate and torture one of them. What made her so special?
She struggled in the guard’s arms, twisting and turning until she sank her flat, human teeth into his neck.
With a cry, he pulled her off by yanking on her long hair, then slapped her across the face hard enough to rattle her thoughts. Such hits had been common in her youth but it had been years since anyone had laid an unkind hand on her. Limp, she wasn’t difficult for him to carry and take away from Chinatown. The place where she’d met a misfit pack of omega shifters. The place she’d felt most at home. The place where Tyler had kissed her for the first time.

"Tempted by Her Innocent Kiss" [Pregnancy & Passion Series, Book 3] by Maya Banks

My Book Summary : Ashley's dreams of being married to her perfect man who adores her goes up in flames when she finds out that he married her because her father told him it was the only way he'd agree to the merger of their businesses. Now at a loss as to what her life has become. Ashley decides she can try changing herself into the woman worthy enough for Devon. If only it didn't hurt too much in doing so ...

... But will Devon be able to love the new and approved Ashley or will he miss the woman she use to be??

My Book Review : 2.5 out of 5 stars. The Author's book description gave me high hopes in this book, but it just fell flat for me. I mean, I liked Ashley even if she was a bit scattered and Devon did mean well in his own way, and I do believe that things could have worked out really well between them if Ashley's father didn't make the ultimatum. Nevertheless, the book has a slow start and then once everything was out in the open I just wanted to give up on this book, yet I'm happy I stuck with it because the last two chapters are really well written and wraps up this story nicely.

So, give this story a try ... you might find you like it more than I did.

Feasted On: Shooting Stars by Allison Rushby

    - This is an ARC book - Available Formats through Amazon.com: Hardcover - Pages: 265; Paperback - Pages: 265; Kindle Edition - File Size: 1929 KB | Expected Release Date: February 28, 2012 | Publisher: Walker Children's Books | Obtained: NetGalley

    "Shooting Stars" by Allison Rushby

My Book Summary : Jo (also known as Zo Jo) decided to follow her father’s example and become a young paparazzo when she was 13-years-old. Now at 16 years of age it isn't her favorite thing to do but it is a way for her to earn a lot of money that she can save for photography school she'd like to attend. Also, during her time as pap she has honed in her skill using her height and looks to her advantage, which gets her into places that she wouldn't typically be able to get into. Because of her honed skills is the reason why she recently gets a request to go undercover to get shots of Ned Hartnett while he is at a "retreat" location to get help. However, even though the job would pay her enough money to get her into the school she wants, Jo soon finds it’s hard to take pictures of Ned because of how he is so nice to her at the retreat and at a previous time when they met when she was just starting out. In addition, she soon realizes there is more to the retreat situation then she was informed about the question is will the new information change her mind about what she's doing or does she need/want the money too badly?? Especially what will she do when she suddenly starts to have feelings for Ned and things start becoming more personal and less professional between them?

My Book Review : 4 out of 5 stars, this is an entertaining, fast-paced, fun, and dynamic novel!! It's about a 16-year-old paparazzo trying not to stay in the biz for her whole life yet she likes the money and a young star has a few issues of his own, but has always been nice to her, getting thrown into a situation that neither was prepared for. I really liked how the author handled the big twists this novel has in it!! I mean when Ned/Jake started getting suspicious about a pap being at the retreat center I pretty much cringed thinking, this novel wasn't going to turn out the way I wanted it too. However, I was satisfyingly surprised!! This novel came together better than I could have imagined!! Plus, it really helps that all of the characters in the book (not including Melissa) have truly redeemable qualities.

I enjoyed this book and I think you will too! I recommend it to anyone who likes YA romance novels with entertainment themes!

    Author Book Trailer :

    Book Teaser(s) :
It takes around a half hour drive in the minivan to get to the retreat. Brad and I spend most of the time in silence. I'm glad he simply points out landmarks, rather than quizzing me on why I'm headed to the loony bin.
I gulp when the large black electronic gates click shut behind the minivan and we start down the long driveway that must lead to the retreat itself. Or I'm hoping it does. Either we're headed for the retreat, or I've just joined a cult. ~ within Chapter 4
"You need to do something before you go insane."
    "Too late," I moan.
"Seriously," Katrina continues, "I mean it. You need to get out of this room."
"And do what?" I roll over to look at her."It's almost eight. Scary curfew time. No going out of the doors after that, or the bogeyman will come and get me. Or Brad will come and get me. Not sure what's worse, actually."
Katrina laughs. "Me, either." ~ within Chapter 11

"Sixty Acres and a Bride" by Regina Jennings

My Book Summary : After tragedy struck their family, Rosa and her mother-in-law, (now both widows) leave Mexico and move to Texas to live on their family's ranch. However, life in Texas is very different then what Rosa is used to, so she tries her best to fit in by following what her mother-in-law states as the correct etiquette for a woman, and by working her hardest in helping out in any way she can. Nevertheless, when they get into town they find out that they owe quite a lot of back taxes on their ranch and if they don't pay the fees within the next three months then they'll loose it all. Thankfully, they have family around to help them or they would be completely lost.

One of those family members is Weston, her mother-in-law's nephew, who has had to deal with his own loss and struggles, but still feels responsible for taking care of everyone within his family. Even Rosa. But will their pasts get in the way of the budding friendship/relationship growing between them?

My Book Review : 3 out of 5 stars, this is a sweet historical romance novel! It’s about a woman who is trying to find her place within the new town she lives in while making sure that her mother-in-law and herself are provided for and a man who is struggling with the tragedy from his past while trying to become the man he once was again. I think Rosa and Weston really worked well as a couple. Nonetheless, I LOVED a majority of the secondary characters, especially Uncle George & Aunt Mary with their motley crew of kids, the cowboys that work for Weston, and Eliza & Jake (Weston's sister and brother-in-law)! With that being said, I guess, I could never decide how I felt about Louise (Rosa's mother-in-law) and Molly (someone who has a crush on Weston and befriends Rosa), they were both good characters who seemed to be looking out for themselves mostly. In spite of this, during the time-period that this novel is set in that's how you had to live, by putting yourself first, so I suppose I can understand why they acted the way they did.

My only problem with this novel was the indecision that Rosa kept having when Weston was involved. I mean I understand her reasoning. However, the way it stretched out and how she didn't believe what he was saying about his own feelings for parts of it, made me a bit mad at her and annoyed with her.

Other then that though, I really enjoyed this novel and hope their will be another novel that involves some of the secondary characters since I truly loved them!!

I recommend this novel to anyone who enjoys inspirational historical romances!!

    Author Book Interview(s) :

    Book Teaser(s) :
"Oh yes, Weston told me an amusing story, but I forgot. Where did you meet?" Eliza raised her eyebrows.
Rosa followed Louise's lead and took a seat. "When I went to help Uncle George and Aunt Mary for the sheep shearing."
"Oh, you were the one at the sheep shearing!" Eliza's eyes danced with mischief. "I just wish I could have been there. Sounds like you made quite an impression."
Rosa gasped. He'd told her about the old ewe? ~ within Chapter 10
"It's not out of boredom I do this. It's out of desperation. I still don't think it's going to be enough. Mr. Bradford has been generous, but we're trying to make up for years of debt in one summer. Unless Louise knows something I don't---"
    "Speak of the devil."
"What?!" Rosa looked to the gun in alarm. "Who is the devil?"
"Coming over the crossing. See? It's Aunt Louise and Mr. Bradford." He pointed, glad for the opportunity to distract her. ~ within Chapter 15
