Feasted On: Stepp Sisters Trilogy, Book 3

Format: Kindle Edition | File Size: 419 KB | Release Date: July 2005 | Publisher: Zebra Books

"Wanting Something More" [Stepp Sisters Trilogy, Book 3] by Kathy Love

My Book Summary : When they were in high school Nathaniel (Nate) set up a prank (with his friends) where he got close to Marty (Martha), making her think that he liked her, then at the school dance he asked her to dance and kisses her (a bad kiss) and makes her the laughing stock of the school. After that, and for other reasons, Marty can't stand him.

Now, over 10 yrs later, Marty is coming back to her hometown in Maine thinking that she has had enough of a life as a model and its time to move back home to start something new. Of course the first night back (driving through a nor'easter) she runs into Nate, who is now the towns Chief of Police. What she doesn't know is that after a recent attack that had landed Nate into the hospital (and a coma), he has changed for the better. Or at least that is what everyone in town is saying .... even her older sisters. But can she really give him a second chance, to see if Nate is any better then he used to be? Well there is only one way to find out ....

My Book Review : 4 out of 5 stars!! This is a fun and sweet novel by a fellow Maineiac (someone born in/from Maine)! Marty and Nate are such a great couple!! I'm sooo happy that Nate had gotten attacked since before he sounded like a royal jerk!! =0P But anyways ....

This is a story about two different people who are in the process of finding themselves again, and fall-in-love along the way. I really liked this new twist that the author takes with her main characters ... very creative. I couldn't stop reading till I got to the end!!

Book Teaser(s) :
He was watching her, his arms folded over his chest, a slight smile curving his lips.
"What?" she asked.
"You dated a soap star named Arturo?"
Marty bristled. "He wasn't a soap star when we were dating."
"Arturo... What is his last name?"
"He doesn't use a last name," Marty admitted dully.
Nate bit back a laugh. "Oh, like Madonna or Cher."
Really more like Liberace, she thought, although she didn't say so. ~ within Chapter 6
That jarred Marty out of her daze; she blinked at Nate. "You sing with these guys?"
"No," he said with chagrin. "Not unless I've had one too many drinks."
"Come on, Nate!" Now the lead guitarist stepped up to the microphone to coax him.
Suddenly the whole room was alive with cajoling, everyone shouting for Nate to sing.
Marty grinned at him. "I think you have to do it or they'll revolt."
"You're just happy the attention is off you," he said dryly.
"Darn right."
He gave her a wounded frown, but then squeezed her fingers and headed to the stage. ~ within Chapter 18

What was I thinking?: Dark Swan Series, Book 1

Format: Paperback | Pages: 361 | Release Date: August 2008 | Publisher: Zebra Books

"Storm Born" [Dark Swan Series, Book 1] by Richelle Mead

What was I thinking? : Well, I really loved Richelle's Vampire Academy Series so I thought I'd try one of her other series and what a disappointment that was. Blah ....

My Book Summary : Eugenie is a powerful shaman, who's goal is to protect her "world" (and the human race) anyway she can from gentry (the fey) and things from the "other world" who happen to attack, haunt, or just bother humans. The good thing about it is she's a mercenary so she gets to choose which cases to take and gets paid for it. However, after years of being a mercenary, her name finally becomes known by the gentry and her life completely changes. When one of her latest clients needs her to rescue his teenage sister from a gentry, Eugenie learns about a disturbing prophecy that involves her first-born who will threaten the world as she knows it. So, now she has gentry coming at her from all sides ---- to be her unborn babies daddy or to kill her --- a teenage girl to save and she needs to work out who she can learn to trust when her world is turned up-side-down.

My Book Review : 1 out of 5 stars. From what I saw after I tried to read this book is a lot of people had bad reviews about the series too ... maybe not this book in particular but definitely a few books down the line. I liked the book up until the halfway point and then the plot went a way I just didn't like and I got bored with it. *shakes head* Too bad. Basically I never finished the book ... I just couldn't force my way to do so.

My Previous Review(s) for this Author : Spirit Bound

Book Teaser(s) :
Dorian's eyes flicked back to me. "Did you have any idea what a creature of nightmare you are around here? Mothers tell their children Odile Dark Swan will come for them if they're bad."
"Hey, I don't seek them out. I only come for them if they come for me first."
"Interesting," he said, arching an eyebrow. "But if that's how you like it, so be it. I always admire women who know what in the bedroom."
"Hey, that's not what I---" I hadn't realized the extent to which our slang had permeated the gentry world. Theirs was a reflection of my own; things seeped through. ~ within Chapter 8

Made the Grade: "Prince of Frogs" by Barbara Plum

Format: Paperback | Pages: 320 | Release Date: October 2004 | Publisher: Zebra Books

"Prince of Frogs" by Barbara Plum

My Book Summary : In the flick of an eye your life can change ...

Ben has had to learn how to deal with that fact over the past eleven months since his wife passed away. Knowing the facts though doesn't change what happened, and the only way he is able to forget his heartache is by getting overly involved at work. However, now being a single father to a four-year-old, being a CEO, and dealing with his loss is becoming hard on him, even though he tries to get by.

Then one day, while standing in line at Starbucks, he meets an overly cheerful woman named Dr. Risa Taylor (nicknamed: La Ti Da), who suddenly turns his world upside down. Risa looks nothing like his Amy, but she is the first person to wake-him-up since his wife's death. What turns into a one time meeting, moves onto finding out they have mutual friends (one in particular who start playing matchmaker), and getting to know each other real fast within a short time period. What could be more perfect?

Risa on the other hand thinks it could be a little too perfect. In addition, with adopting three boys (Charlie, Tom, & Harry) within the next month by herself, she feels that no one (not even Ben) would want to take on the role as "boyfriend" for her and sub-daddy to her infant sons anytime soon. So ... what's the point? Can her best friend or Ben change her mind?

My Book Review : 3 out of 5 stars. It was a cute fairytale. Overly sweet and definitely a PG romance ... but I'm glad I read it. What actually held my attention was the background of both main characters and how wonderfully the author merged their tale.

Book Teaser :
Eyes closed, feet on his desk, he pinched the bridge of his nose. His bottom lip was on fire, and he knew he had to be careful. Go with safe topics, nothing sexy. No innuendos. "What's Molly wearing instead of a nightgown?"
"One of my T-shirts. It barely covers my bu--it's like a tent on her. But she loves it."
"I bet I never get her to sleep in nightgowns again."
"Oh, gosh. I'm sorry. I never thought---"
"Hey, I'm not complaining. Where's it written she has to sleep in nightgowns?"
"I did till about...thirteen. Then I switched to T-shirts. The ones with celebrities' faces plastered on them. I slept with Mick Jagger every other night."
~ within Chapter 9

Which song do I think goes along good with this book? : Fix You by Coldplay
