Author's Book Description :
The covens are coming for her.

But is she a White Witch, or a Dark Witch? In a war for control of the witch world, the answer will save—or doom—everyone she loves.

In "White Witch," Jax gained friends she’d die for and a staggering power that threatens them all.

In "Bane," Jax did the unthinkable and killed a supernatural hunter to protect her friends. She found herself lost in darkness and prisoner to the Bane, a secret society of witches sworn to prevent the use of the dark magic.

Now, in "Magick," the powers of Jax and her friend Egan have been magically bound by the Bane. She must convince the Bane she can learn to control her power and become a White Witch in truth. She’s their only hope now that the dark covens have called a Conclave with one purpose—to kill this generation’s White Witch and anyone who has ever stood with her. If Jax can’t amass an army of her own, rebuild the trust of her friends and boyfriend, and find the White Witch’s elusive weapon against the dark, it may be too late.

About the Author :
The first book Trish Milburn ever wrote was a romance. She just didn't know it yet. That book, "Land of the Misty Gems," was a class project way back in the sixth grade. She wrote the text, illustrated the book with colored pencils, even bound it with twine and pasted a fabric cover on her creation. And now -- mumble, mumble -- years later, she still has that book. It was the beginning of her writing career, even if until the early 1990s that writing consisted mainly of research papers and essay test questions and then newspaper articles.

Trish was born and grew up in Western Kentucky and began reading so long ago she doesn't really remember how it all started. She does remember loving a little book called "The Runaway Pancake," then the regular treasures that would appear in her mailbox from the Weekly Reader Book Club, then books like the Little House on the Prairie series. The library was one of her favorite places. And even though being a bookworm didn't do wonders for her social life when she was in her teens, she wouldn't trade her love of books for the world.

After college, she worked as a newspaper reporter and magazine editor and still does some freelance writing and copy editing. But most of her writing now is fiction, and no matter what kind of story it is she can't resist putting at least some romance in it alongside the paranormal or suspense elements. Her writing has finaled in Romance Writers of America's Golden Heart Contest eight times, winning twice. "White Witch," her February 2012 release from Bell Bridge Books, was the 2007 Golden Heart winner in the Young Adult category.

In her free time, she loves watching movies and TV (she bought herself a TiVo when she made her first sale), hiking, reading and road trips.

Made the Grade: The Demon Underground Series, Book 2

Format: Kindle Edition | File Size: 465 KB | Release Date: March 2010 | Publisher: Bell Bridge Books

"Try Me" [The Demon Underground Series, Book 2] by Parker Blue

My Book Summary : Val is back on the streets of San Antonio helping keep the peace between the vampires and demons, while protecting the humans. However, since released Lola fully for the first time she has been told to take some time off so she'll be able to get more control of herself. Thankfully, Micah is planning to help her accomplish that, and a little or more help from Shade too.

But when powerful Encyclopedia Magicka becomes stolen time off comes to a halt. Not that Val's complaining since she was getting bored anyways, but once she returns to work .... it seems that everyone there is out to get her. To top that off her partner, Dan, is being a jerk to her for some unknown reason and he seems to be trying to avoid her at all cost.

As she goes into searching for the books ... things start happening again to those around her .... but will she be able to find them before anything really bad happens?

My Book Review : 3.5 out of 5 stars! I really liked this book! However, it had more twists then I expected, NOT that I'm complaining since I was addicted right up until the end! I LOVE the thing going on between Shade and Val!! And I'm really curious as to where and what Val will be doing now that this latest "situation" has come up (which you'll find out at the very end of the book). I did like the depth that the author brought to the characters more so then just Val (like last time).

Feasted On: The Demon Underground Series, Book 1

Format: Kindle Edition | File Size: 335 KB | Release Date: September 2008 | Publisher: Bell Bridge Books

"Bite Me" [The Demon Underground Series, Book 1] by Parker Blue

My Book Summary : Eighteen-year-old Valentine (Val) has grown up being an outsider, even to her own family. You see ... her mother and father were married ... once ... but it didn't work out, especially when Val's father just happens to be part incubus demon ... making Val part succubus demon. And even though that's not her fault her mother has never forgiven her for that.

Now, because her little half-sister snuck into Val's vehicle without her knowledge while she was vampire hunting, she is getting kicked out of her parents home and can't work at the family bookstore anymore. Who will she turn to when the only people she really knows is her family? And what will she do for a living and finding a place to live ... when she's only eighteen and can kill vampires?

My Book Review : 4 out of 5 stars! The book was more then I could have hoped for!! Entertaining and ACTION PACKED! The characters were awesome! Well, except the mother was a bitch and her sister was a little annoying. *hehee* What will it be .... Val & Dan? Or Val & Shade? I think I'll be happy with either right now. =0)

Made the Grade: The Braddacks Series, Book 1

- This is an ARC book - Available Formats through Amazon.com: Kindle Edition - File Size: 420 KB | Expected Release Date: July 3, 2014 | Publisher: Bell Bridge Books | Obtained: NetGalley

"Born In Secret" [The Braddacks Series, Book 1] by Susan Kearney

Author's Book Description : BEST MOM EVER.
When a checkup reveals that 5-year-old Skye is not Brooke Evan’s daughter, a heart-broken Brooke hunts down the biological parents. It’s the right thing to do . . . for Skye.

INVENTOR, BUSINESS MAN, DAD?
But when Brooke shows up on Max Braddack’s doorstep, he suspects she has ulterior motives. It’s hard for the laid-back, billionaire, Max to believe that Brooke is simply doing what’s best for her daughter.

A CHILD TO LOVE.
Yet, the more time Max spends with Brooke and Skye, the more he comprehends that other forces besides his growing feelings are in play. The little girl who was born in secret is in terrible danger . . . and she needs Max and Skye to protect her.

My Book Review : 3.5 out of 5 stars! This gripping novel keeps you on your toes and in suspense the whole way through! I liked this novel and it’s build-up for this seemingly dynamic series. Typically this isn't usually the type of novel I'd go for but I like reading novels where the premise is about a couple meeting and falling in love because finding out that their child (which they got help in creating through a clinic) isn't really theirs, the only difference about this novel was its darker twists to it.

As a couple I liked Max & Brooke together. Their personalities are very similar and I enjoyed that no matter what was happening Brooke stuck to her convictions. Add Skye into the mix and they make a sweet family. Plus, its sweet how the novel wrapped up their romance.

I recommend this novel to anyone who likes contemporary thriller romances!

While she and Max filled their plates, Red joined them.
Max took a seat beside Skye but spoke to his dad. "Catch anything?"
Red winked at Brooke, his eyes reminding her of Max when he was up to devilment. "Nothing as good as you did."
Brooke fought the heat rising to her cheeks, thankful when Skye piped in, "Max wasn't fishing. The only thing he caught was a mud pie in the face." Brooke admonished Skye with a grin. "That'll be enough sass, young lady. Eat." ~ within Chapter 7

"Magick" [The Coven Series, Book 3] by Trish Milburn (aka Tricia Mills)

My Book Summary : It seems that Jaxina (Jax) is going to learn the biggest lesson of all, love can prove to be more powerful than anything ... even her darkness if only she can trust herself and those around her. With the help of her best friends, Egan & Toni, her hunter boyfriend, Keller, and their loose agreement/relationship with the Bane (a group of witches who's goal is to destroy the dark covens) Jax might just learn to become a true white witch and defeat the dark covens that plan on coming to Salem to destroy her.

My Book Review : 4.5 out of 5 stars, an excellent wrap up to this enticing series!! I loved that this novel started right where the "Bane" ended, throwing you into the action from the very beginning with no slowing down. I especially liked how this novel grew on Keller and Jax's relationship and really answered the questions as to what a white witch is and can do. Reading about the new characters was fun too and I loved Jax's matchmaker skills!! *hehee*

I recommend this novel and series to anyone who loves YA paranormal thrillers with plenty of romance included!

- On a side note -
I'm quoted on the cover!! YAY!! =0)

Book Teaser(s) :
"What is this place?" Keller asks as he stops beside me.
"Where I woke up when the poison wore off."
I don't need witch powers to sense Keller going rigid. After a breath, he walks forward and lifts one of the chains attached to the chair arm. He looks back at me with a mixture of disbelief and his handsome features stretched by a fury that would have seemed less out of place before I killed Barrow. "They chained you like an animal?"
"I am an animal, Keller. One you promised to put down if I went too far."
He drops the chain, filling the stone room with the echo of the clanging metal hitting the floor. He strides across the room and leans his palms against the wall. "Despite what happened, I'm not going to apologize for not killing you."
"You can't stand there and tell me you didn't think I was totally gone as you watched me kill a man."
He spins toward me. "I can say that," he says, with a raising voice. ~ within Chapter 4
As expected, Sarah isn't happy when we tell her the plan. "I think in the midst of all this, you all have forgotten you're not adults yet."
"But we've been through more than most adults go through in their entire lives," I say. "We've managed to elude capture more than once."
"And there's the little fact that Jax is stronger than all of us put together," Piper says.
Sarah gives her niece a frustrated look. "When did you get so rebellious?"
Piper smiles. "I've been saving up."
Sarah rolls her eyes. ~ within Chapter 10

"White Witch" [The Coven Series, Book 1] by Trish Milburn (aka Tricia Mills)

My Book Summary : Jaxina (Jax) has never fit in with her coven. Ever since the witch trials in Salem, MA the covens have had access to powerful dark magic and have hosted in rituals that everyone in the coven is required to do. If someone decides not to go along with the status quo then they would be put to death by the coven, which is what happened to Jax's mother years ago because she decided she didn't agree with the things the coven was doing. Therefore, after her mother's death she has plans to escape her coven and recently ran away from them.

Now in North Carolina she can finally has the hope of living a normal life (or as normal, as she can get since she's still a witch). However, her hardest thing to accomplish is trying to be a "normal" girl at her new school, when she does nothing but stand out just because of her looks. Although, when she finds out that the cute guy she likes and can't seem to stop from getting close to is her sworn enemy her life feels like nothing could get worse. That is until people from her past find out where she is living now and could ruin all of the friendships/relationships she's made since moving there. As well as, hurt the people she's really starting to care for. However, would it be better for her to leave or could staying in North Carolina keep everyone safe instead??

My Book Review : 4 out of 5 stars, this is one young adult novel that entices you into the story then hooks you into wanting more!!! I could not get enough of this story!! It starts out not long after Jax left her coven and is trying to find a way to get into High School when her world takes a hard left turn when a hunter, Keller, comes into her life. Their relationship is the type I love reading about; it's intense, all encompassing, and undeniable. In addition, the plot was written in a way that you cannot help but be intrigued with it especially when it leaves you hanging at the end. Is Keller really fully human? Will Jax be or is she the only one of her kind? What will happen to Jax & Egan? Will Keller & Toni follow Jax & Egan? So many questions about what will happen make me even more curious as to what will happen in the next book in this series, "Bane."

I recommend this series and novel to anyone looking to read a different take on what it means to be a witch. Or to anyone who likes young adult paranormal romances!

Author's Book Trailer :

Book Teaser(s) :
"Hubba hubba," Toni says from behind where I stand looking in a mirror in Toni's bedroom. "If I weren't as straight as an arrow, I'd go out with you. Say, you don't happen to have any gorgeous male cousins lurking about, do you?"
I barely keep myself from jerking. I do in fact have several gorgeous male cousins, but I don't want them anywhere near Toni. "No, sorry."
Toni shrugs. "Worth a try." ~ within Chapter 5
"Call me crazy, but I don't think Keller likes me anymore either."
"Crazy."
I look at Toni, wondering if maybe she's blind to what I've been seeing all week.
Toni crosses her arms and shifts her weight to her right leg. "I admit he's being a bit frosty right now."
"Try polar ice cap."
"Trust me. He's going to come around."
"I wouldn't hold my breath if I were you."
Toni sighs. "If he doesn't, then he's an idiot, and we'll find you someone who isn't."
I don't want someone else. Maybe I'm destined to be alone. ~ within Chapter 9

"The Spinster and the Rake" by Anne Stuart

Author's Book Description : The Spinster: As a maiden aunt, Gillian Redfern lives as an unpaid servant to her demanding family. Little wonder she finds the attentions of a rake distracting, and even less wonder that her usual good sense begins to unravel when Lord Marlow takes her in his arms.

The Rake: Ronan Patrick Blakely, Lord Marlow, is a man of great charm and little moral character, a gambler, a womanizer, and handsome as sin to boot. He has no qualms about placing a wager on the virtue of one small, shy spinster.

But Lord Marlow is about to discover that Miss Redfern is more siren than spinster. She amuses him, arouses him, and, much to his dismay, makes him a better man. Gillian will discover, in turn, that Lord Marlow possesses the power to turn her into a very wicked woman. The rake and the spinster are poised to find a love that neither could have imagined.

If only someone weren’t out to destroy them both . . .

- This is an ARC book - Available Formats through Amazon.com: Paperback - Pages: 162; Kindle Edition - File Size: 401 KB | Expected Release Date: June 1, 2012 | Publisher: Bell Bridge Books | Obtained: NetGalley

"Bane" [The Coven Series, Book 2] by Trish Milburn (aka Tricia Mills)

My Book Summary : After fighting her coven in North Carolina Jaxina (Jax) and her friend, Egan, leave their friends (Keller & Toni) behind and head to the place where they believe everything started for their people---Salem, Massachusetts. However, it seems like finding clues is like finding a needle in a haystack for them, especially when they don't know where to begin looking. That is until they get some unsuspected friends in the form of witches with very little powers yet they have an abundance of knowledge of how the covens were formed. Now if they can only find some way that tells them how to defeat the covens before it's too late. Since time is definitely running out for them with Jax's personal battle against the darkness within her and everyone (all of the covens and hunters) out to kill her and her friends....can they trust anyone or even be able to win??

My Book Review : 3.5 out of 5 stars, Trish has done it again with this enticing, spellbinding series!! However, even though I say that because I could NOT and did NOT want to put this book down for the life of me, the ending angered me enough by what happened that I'm giving this novel a poorer rating than I would have if it didn't end the way it did. =0/ I'm sorry about that, but WOW, really that actually happened---is all I've been thinking since I finished the book. I just cannot believe it ended the way it did. Yet it does still make me curious as to what will happen in the next book, "Magick,"---hopefully---it'll redeem Jax.

All in all ...

About the Characters:
• Jaxina (Jax): Right now, she's living with a split personality. As the darkness within her becomes stronger within herself she ends up doing and saying things that she typically wouldn't do, and it's slowly corrupting her unless she can find a way that she can defeat it.

• Egan: Ever since the fight in "White Witch" it's made Jax and him bonded in a way that they can now sense each other's emotions. This is a good and bad thing because that also means that it’s harder for Egan to have control over the darkness within himself too.

• Rule: Fiona's grandson and Adele's son. A witch with a highly good sense of intuition but has no actual powers. Has a crush on Jax.

• Fiona: Rule's grandmother and Adele's mother. A witch with a highly good sense of intuition but has no actual powers. Believes that Jax is good at heart and has a feeling that Jax could be the one to change everything. A mother hen type of person.

• Adele: Fiona's daughter and Rule's mother. A witch who has no actual powers. Doesn't really trust or like Jax and Egan that much.

• Sarah: A librarian who's very secretive.

I recommend this novel to anyone who read and LIKED "White Witch!" Since if you don't read "White Witch" first then you might not understand everything that is happening in the plot of "Bane."

My Previous Review(s) for this Series : Book 1

Book Teaser(s) :
"Then why did you come back here?" Adele asks.
"Because we are in Salem seeking information, and I sense that you're hiding something. From us, specifically."
"What type of information?" Fiona asks.
"The kind that keeps the covens out of our lives," Egan says.
"A way to keep them from hurting anyone ever again," I say.
"We don't know how," Adele says.
I look from her to Fiona. "Maybe not, but you're right when you say the covens have lied to us. We need to know the truth."
Fiona holds my gaze for several seconds, assessing, as silence settles around us. "Why you?" ~ within Chapter 2
"Anything new?"
He shakes his head. "No. And honestly, that's a bit odd. Usually somebody's saying something interesting."
"How do you get access to all this stuff anyway?" I lean forward and squint. "Is that a video feed of your house?"
"You don't want to know, and yes."
"So, nothing more about Keller and Toni?"
"Nothing. I even tried their cell phones and got voice mail. Granted, they just might not want to talk to me."
Or me. ~ within Chapter 6
