"Must Love Breeches" [Must Love Series, Book 1] by Angela Quarles

Author's Book Description : She’s finally met the man of her dreams. There’s only one problem: he lives in a different century.

“A fresh, charming new voice” – New York Times bestselling author Tessa Dare

HOW FAR WOULD YOU TRAVEL FOR LOVE?

A mysterious artifact zaps Isabelle Rochon to pre-Victorian England, but before she understands the card case’s significance a thief steals it. Now she must find the artifact, navigate the pitfalls of a stiffly polite London, keep her time-traveling origins a secret, and resist her growing attraction to Lord Montagu, the Vicious Viscount so hot, he curls her toes.

To Lord Montagu nothing makes more sense than keeping his distance from the strange but lovely Colonial. However, when his scheme for revenge reaches a stalemate, he convinces Isabelle to masquerade as his fiancée. What he did not bargain on is being drawn to her intellectually as well as physically.

Lord Montagu’s now constant presence overthrows her equilibrium and her common sense. Isabelle thought all she wanted was to return home, but as passion flares between them, she must decide when her true home—as well as her heart—lies.

My Book Review : 3 out of 5 stars, travel through time with Isabelle (Belle)--a Southern historian working in London--where she meets some historical figures, gets thrown into a big cover up plot, and has the possibility of falling in love if only she allows herself too.

In truth, this novel charmed me from the very beginning. I liked the mystery of it all and her growing relationship with Phineas (Lord Montagu/Phin). In addition, I liked that Ms. Quarles stuck as close to the truth, when it came to the historical figures, as she could, as it was intriguing to learn more about them.

The chemistry between Phineas and Isabelle was undeniable. It was also, remarkably sincere in how they both grew to care for one another, but because of their personal goals and wants, they tried to deny themselves each other for the longest time. After a while, though that restraint (or in some cases--stubbornness) made me to get very annoyed with them both, because I wanted to watch their feelings grow yet they emotionally deny themselves for about 62% of this novel. Once you get to that point though the novel gets really good as you're thrown into Phineas' project and finally learn if Isabelle is willing to fully commit to Phineas or not.

I really did enjoy this novel. It was humorous, intriguing, with just enough romance to make me curious to see where everyone would end up.

Nevertheless, I'm surprised to say that even though I liked its epilogue, it's in the epilogue that it made it harder for me to believe the timeline that Ms. Quarles portrays for this novel. Since at the beginning of this novel Isabelle talks about her cell phone and if the dates that are listed in the epilogue are supposed to be "true" than some of the things she did with her cell phone just would not have been possible during that time period. Now, on the other hand, if you look at it that with Isabelle going into the past really did change history then never mind, I guess, as I might be wrong and in that "alternate reality" that could've happened. Yet, it's still hard for me to agree with. *shrug*

Overall, I'd recommend this novel to anyone who likes time travel romances!

Author's Book Trailer :

Book Teaser(s) :
A sob escaped Isabelle's throat and she gripped the door handle tighter. She was stuck in the past. In 1834. How? And, more importantly, how could she get back? Was that even possible?
She had to find a way back.
To her house, her job, and oh God, her promotion. She couldn't allow that snake Andrew to beat her to it.
She lifted her skirt hem and peeked at her slippers--could it be that simple? She glanced around the room to make sure she was alone, clicked her heels together three times, and whispered, "There's no place like home."
She looked around. Same room. She shrugged. Oh, well. Of course, it couldn't be easy. ~ within Chapter 6
He sought to calm. "I am gratified by your concern, but my surgeon will attend it. You need not worry."
"Oh God, a surgeon?"
Her face and tone of voice, the expression of both, imparted the idea he had said he would rip a horrible monster from the bowels of hell to clean the wound. She had the strangest notions he had ever encountered.
"Yes, my surgeon is quite capable, I assure you."
"They don't still believe in leeches for that particular wound, do they? I can't remember..." A frown creased her brow and a look of concentration crossed her face, as if reviewing her memory. This woman puzzled him indeed.
"No doubt probable for this type of injury, to prevent inflammation. Quite routine." He hoped his tone of voice and the words themselves reassured her.
She reeled back as if struck, her face contorted. "You cannot be serious."
It was his turn to frown. "Of course. I am unacquainted with medical practices performed in America, but I assure you, my surgeon if one of London's best. I daresay superior to any you have there."
She curled her hands into fists and propped them on her hips. "Wow, of all the arrogant-- you don't know the half of it-- And I can't even--"
Her arms came toward him, and he honestly thought she would strike him again. ~ within Chapter 12

Feasted On: Arabian Heat Series & Billionaires and Babies Series, Book 3

Format: Kindle Edition | File Size: 338 KB | Release Date: July 1, 2014 | Publisher: Harlequin : Desire | Obtained: Harlequin

"The Sheikh's Son" [Arabian Heat Series & Billionaires and Babies Series, Book 3] by Kristi Gold

Author's Book Description : Her sheikh, her prince...her pretend husband?

Prince Adan Mehdi isn't normally one to back off from a beautiful woman, but there's something so pure about American heiress Piper McAdams that it seems like the honorable thing to do. Piper believes in his good intentions until his supermodel ex shows up with their baby! Still, Piper agrees to show Adan the parenting ropes and pretend to be his wife until custody with his ex is settled. But playing royal house tests the prince's resolve, and soon things get steamier than either of them imagined. Could a real white wedding be in their future?

My Book Review : 4 out of 5 stars! Captivating me from the beginning with the main characters’ witty banter, this fiery contemporary romance was one that hooks you and doesn't let go!

Adan & Piper turn a playful flirtation into a sudden relationship once Adan becomes aware of his one-month-old son and Piper decides on helping him out in learning his care taking duty. Their chemistry was one that I loved reading about and they quickly became one of my favorite couples.

Yet I wish Adan handled his feelings better. I mean I liked how the plot turned their story out in the end, even though Adan made a flop of their relationship when the emotions got to tough for him, but I can't help but think of Adan as a bit of an idiot since his actions really ruined my impression of him and the novel a bit.

Overall, though, recommend this novel to anyone who enjoys contemporary romances based around fathers!

This novel can be read as a standalone!

She blew an upward breath that ruffled her bangs. “Okay, it’s obvious we’re not going to get anywhere by playing the blame game. The question is, what are you going to do now? I don’t think moving to Antarctica is a viable option with a month-old child.”
The trip was beginning to appeal to him greatly. “If I refuse to comment further, the rumors will eventually die down.”
She leaned back and released an acerbic laugh. “By the time Sam turns twenty?”

Made the Grade: A Mother for His Children by Jan Drexler

Format: Kindle Edition | File Size: 396 KB | Release Date: August 1, 2014 | Publisher: Harlequin : Love Inspired Historical | Obtained: Harlequin

"A Mother for His Children" by Jan Drexler

Author's Book Description : FROM AMISH NANNY TO BRIDE?

After her sweetheart's betrayal, Ruthy Mummert leaves behind the small-town gossip of her Amish community for the first opportunity she can find: a housekeeper position in faraway LaGrange County, Indiana. Ruthy didn't realize the job meant caring for ten children—and for their handsome widowed father.

To Levi Zook's mind, Ruthy is too young and too pretty to be anyone's housekeeper. A marriage of convenience will protect her reputation and give his children the security they dearly need. But it could also give them the courage to grasp a new chance at happiness—if Ruthy is willing to risk her wounded heart once more.

My Book Review : 3.5 out of 5 stars. It's a sweet historical Amish romance about two lost souls finding one another.

What got me interested in this novel was actually a review by Kav R. from Harlequin's website which says, "This book tickled me so much I'm still grinning. I kept thinking of the song I Have Confidence from Sound of Music. The line -- "A captain with seven children, what's so fearsome about that?" -- readily transformed into "A farmer with ten children, what's so fearsome about that?" in my mind and I found myself humming as I read." And after reading this novel I have to agree that the plot did remind me of The Sound of Music because of how Ruthy moves into Levi's home and becomes the caretaker of everyone. I found myself intrigued by these two very stubborn characters, how their lives come together, and how they find that love can come in all shapes and sizes. Levi and Ruthy make a wonderful-gut couple.

Only at times, I wish they could have gotten over their stubborn issues quicker then they did. Since I found that even though I liked the plot the novel doesn't really pick up it's pace until around 70%, which is when Levi and Ruthy really work on their relationship. Nevertheless, I enjoyed this novel and it's captivating characters.

I recommend it to those who like historical Amish romances!

"You know very well I can't come in there, Levi Zook. You bring that sheet over here this minute." Frustration made her voice squeak at the end, and she heard a giggle from the clothesline behind her. Waneta was enjoying this standoff.
"What will you give me if I do?" Levi stepped closer to the fence, holding the muddy sheet away from her.
"I'll have you know, Levi Zook, if you don't give that to me, I'll feed your dinner to the pigs."
Levi came a step closer and stopped, inches away from where she still stood on the fence. His eyes twinkled, be he dropped his voice so it wouldn't carry to Waneta. "You wouldn't feed my dinner to the pigs. You would never waste good food that way."

Made the Grade: The Duke of Snow and Apples by Elizabeth Vail

- This is an ARC book - Available Formats through Amazon.com: Kindle Edition - File Size: 1433 KB | Expected Release Date: August 26, 2014 | Publisher: Entangled Publishing : Select | Obtained: NetGalley

"The Duke of Snow and Apples" by Elizabeth Vail

Author's Book Description : Frederick Snow, first footman, is the perfect servant: efficient, hardworking, and completely bereft of emotion. Unbeknownst to his employers, he’s the lost Duke of Snowmont, on the run from a suspicious stepfather and a powerful magic he can only control by burying his passions beneath his frosty demeanor. He’s managed to hide behind his carefully ordered life until an impertinent miss arrives and challenges everything he thought he wanted.

If Charlotte Erlwood wants to land a wealthy, titled husband at her great aunt’s house party, she has to stop losing her temper – especially with inordinately handsome footmen. Perhaps if she recruits Frederick for her matrimonial schemes, she’ll be able to direct her attention toward suitable single noblemen and away from inappropriate dalliances. But Frederick’s frigid control is no match for Charlotte’s irrepressible spirit, and her passionate kiss could summon the darker side of his magic...or wake his heart from its frozen sleep.

My Book Review : 3.5 out of 5 stars, a darker version of the Snow White fairytale with unique twists! Set in a historical feyish world, this dynamic novel gets you hooked from the beginning with its intriguing plot and entertaining characters.

I truly liked the idea of how the roles in this novel were switched from the original story, making Frederick to be "Snow White" and Charlotte to be "the Prince." Yet, even though that is what it seems they both end up saving each other while turning each other’s worlds’ upside-down in the process. Together they prove that you can fall in love no matter what the circumstances, as what is inside you matters more then anything else.

In addition to the main characters, I liked Charlotte's Aunt Hildy and the other "Dowagers/Diamonds." They keep up the humor throughout this novel while giving you different glimpses as to what the rest of society is like for where they live.

The only reason I didn't give this novel a higher rating was because of how much Charlotte and Frederick annoyed me at times with the refusal of their feelings. Also, because of how Frederick seemed to be a bit oblivious as to everyone around him (a little too much in my opinion) when all the pieces of "his mystery" were finally adding up. I guess I just wish it wasn't as dragged out as it was.

Nevertheless, I did enjoy this novel and hope there will be a sequel or another book to turn this into a series!

I recommend this novel to anyone who likes reading twists on fairytales and/or fantasy romances!

An overpowering urge to laugh rose from his belly, the kind of wild, uninhibited laughter that clenched the body like a fist to wring as much mirth as possible from every pore. He hadn’t laughed that way in such a long time he had a sudden fear he might forget how and end up howling or screaming instead, so when the laughter seized his throat he spat it out as words.
“I’m sorry I kissed you,” he said. Vivid hues bloomed in the air between them, rich, varied shades of longing, most of them his.
Charlotte cocked her head to one side. Her lips bowed into a slow, lopsided smile. “Liar.”
“God help me.” He chuckled weakly. “I’m not very good at being a rapacious footman.”
“True. But I can always use a friend. So could you, it seems.” ~ within Chapter 11
“I see you’ve met Quicksilver,” she said. The mare in question whickered as the lady approached. “Isn’t she fine? When I heard you were coming to hunt today, I knew I couldn’t allow you to ride any other. Smart as a whip, but patient as well, if you’re not sure of your seat. Don’t just stand there gawking, Freddy—mount my grandniece!” She turned to examine her harness, only to be distracted by frantic coughing sounds. “My word, Freddy, whatever is the matter?”
“Nothing,” Frederick wheezed. Charlotte, however, thought she heard, “just swallowed my tongue, is all,” muttered under his breath. She stifled a laugh into the back of her glove. ~ within Chapter 12

"Born In Secret" [The Braddacks Series, Book 1] by Susan Kearney

Author's Book Description : BEST MOM EVER.
When a checkup reveals that 5-year-old Skye is not Brooke Evan’s daughter, a heart-broken Brooke hunts down the biological parents. It’s the right thing to do . . . for Skye.

INVENTOR, BUSINESS MAN, DAD?
But when Brooke shows up on Max Braddack’s doorstep, he suspects she has ulterior motives. It’s hard for the laid-back, billionaire, Max to believe that Brooke is simply doing what’s best for her daughter.

A CHILD TO LOVE.
Yet, the more time Max spends with Brooke and Skye, the more he comprehends that other forces besides his growing feelings are in play. The little girl who was born in secret is in terrible danger . . . and she needs Max and Skye to protect her.

My Book Review : 3.5 out of 5 stars! This gripping novel keeps you on your toes and in suspense the whole way through! I liked this novel and it’s build-up for this seemingly dynamic series. Typically this isn't usually the type of novel I'd go for but I like reading novels where the premise is about a couple meeting and falling in love because finding out that their child (which they got help in creating through a clinic) isn't really theirs, the only difference about this novel was its darker twists to it.

As a couple I liked Max & Brooke together. Their personalities are very similar and I enjoyed that no matter what was happening Brooke stuck to her convictions. Add Skye into the mix and they make a sweet family. Plus, its sweet how the novel wrapped up their romance.

I recommend this novel to anyone who likes contemporary thriller romances!

- This is an ARC book - Available Formats through Amazon.com: Kindle Edition - File Size: 1093 KB | Expected Release Date: June 20, 2014 | Publisher: Moon Flower Press | Obtained: NetGalley

"Homecoming" [Love Michaelson Series, Book 1] by Jackie Sexton

Author's Book Description :

Ariane Michaelson is always the quiet girl in the room, the one that her kooky mother and three sisters lovingly call the wallflower. After graduating from college she finds it more than a little difficult to find the graphic design job of her dream...or any job, really. She’s more than given up on painting, and a terrible run-in with her twin sister’s fiancĂ© makes each day harder to keep a life altering secret.

Liam Ashdown was just the moody small town nobody, with one friend and a busted pickup—until he moved to LA. Spotted by famous actor and producer Michael Jennings during a late night shift at the bar, Liam is transformed seemingly overnight into Tinsel Town’s hottest bad boy. The life Liam once knew is turned upside down with models and mayhem...and there isn’t much down time in-between.

The only thing that keeps him sane is the paintings. Beautiful ocean portraits that remind him of home, painted years ago by some friend of a friend.

What he wouldn’t give to know her. To tell her that her art saves him everyday.

The engagement of his childhood friend, Todd, brings him back home to Craryville, to deal with a drug-addicted mother and an ailing grandmother. But it also brings him hope—somewhere in the bridal party is the woman who has been his calm and respite in the storm of fame.

The only question is, can she save him?

This book contains sexual content, drug abuse, and language. For ages 18 + only!

My Book Review : 4 out of 5 stars!! This was a dynamically intense novel! About two people who are at impasses in their lives, meeting again after years apart and finding out what their true dreams are while getting to know one another. I really enjoyed this novel. Even though it seems more fantastical then anything with there being a family curse and someone falling in love while not ever meeting the other person, but it was also because of that "imaginary stuff" that made me fall into Liam & Ariane's worlds and like them as a couple. In some ways Liam reminded me of Travis from Jamie McGuire's "Beautiful Disaster" because of both of their intense and possessive nature's, also because they both seem to fall instantly in love with their "girls."

I found Liam & Ariane to really balance each other out, which--in turn--made me root for their relationship no matter what they ended up doing. It also make me curious as to what will come next in this series, as this novel was written (it seemed) like a stand-alone.

I do recommend this novel to those who enjoy contemporary NA romances that have a little fantasy thrown in! =0)

"It Girl" by Nic Tatano

Authors' Book Description : Veronica Summer is stuck in the dream job from hell.

The spunky New York reporter is offered the network's morning anchor position, but she doesn't want it because she's a night person. Then the network plays a trump card, promising her the evening anchor chair in three years. So the fiery redhead takes the plunge, with the ultimate gig waiting down the road.

Problem is, that road is filled with two am wake-up calls and the only social life she has is one with bats and raccoons. She quickly realizes she'll never survive the grind and decides the only way out is to get fired by being her snarky self on live television.

And the ratings skyrocket.

Veronica becomes the nation's It Girl, so the network makes her a celebrity contestant on its most popular nighttime dance competition show, Dance Off. While her journalistic credibility is shot to hell by the show's skimpy costumes, she's thrown into close contact with two incredibly attractive men; her dance partner and the show's sarcastic British judge.

And she soon discovers that love is the ultimate gig.

My Book Review : 4.5 out of 5 stars!! This fast-paced romantic comedy throws you for more then one major twist and keeps you wanting for more! From Veronica's snarky attitude to her friend's southern "charms" to maneuvering through the conniving world of journalism, this novel is one that keeps pushing you through the paces and doesn't let go till the end.

I loved Veronica and her friends, especially when they talked on their lunch dates. Together they help each other through Veronica's messy "love life" and her personal/professional catastrophes in such humorous ways! I just could not get enough! Then throw in Veronica's "man candy" and how she can't decide between the two men who interest her in such "different" ways--yeah, let's go with that--made this novel hard to resist.

I will say that around the chapter where Veronica has a big journalistic break through, I found the novel to drag a little. Yet, not long after that scene happened the pace picks back up at full throttle and doesn't stop which made me happy to see! I LOVED how it ended!! Especially, I enjoyed how the guy she chooses is one that is so romantic to her; it was just a nice twist in itself to see since Veronica really needed that type of person in her life.

I highly recommend this hilarious contemporary romance!!

Made the Grade: Demon Rock Series, Book 3

- This is an ARC book - Available Formats through Amazon.com: Kindle Edition - File Size: 402 KB | Expected Release Date: August 4, 2014 | Publisher: Carina Press | Obtained: NetGalley

"MĂ©nage with the Muse" [Demon Rock Series, Book 3] by Nico Rosso

Author's Book Description : What happens when two very different satyr rock stars find their Muse...and discover it’s the same woman?

Musician Mia Dillon’s having the week of her life. Sharing the stage with the world’s biggest acts at a hedonistic festival is a rush, but she discovers new thrills as she frees her sensual side. A brief flirtation with sexy drummer Wolfgang quickly escalates as they lose themselves in wild music and the desert heat.

And then there’s Ethan. Silent, almost samurai-like, he’s the best guitarist she’s ever seen. He’s broken out of his quiet reserve just for her.

But Wolfgang and Ethan share two secrets. One: they’re demons. Two: they’re starving. The ancient rules of demons have shifted and if they don’t feed soon, the lights will go out for good. Mia’s energy has marked her as The One...for both of them.

Mia’s never had two men—let alone two demons—at once. Nobody’s heard of demons sharing a Muse, either. But the three of them make a sexual melody unlike anything else. Mia’s never felt so alive, but with the enemy growing closer by the minute, it will take everything Wolfgang and Ethan have to keep her that way.

My Book Review : 3.5 out of 5 stars! This is an intense novel about a female musician trying to make a name for herself (and her band) when she falls into a world of magic, intrigue, and into the hearts of two demons.

This is the first novel that I've read from this series and while I liked the characters, what captured me the most about this novel was its overall plot and intrigue. I really liked how Ethan, Wolfgang, and Mia built-up their relationship and made the choice that no matter what fate decided for them they were choosing each other because of how they felt for one another. Like I said before it’s a very intense novel, but I enjoyed how sweet and accepting Ethan & Wolfgang was about everything happening to them.

The only issue I had with this novel was it seemed that the momentum during the last 25% of it gets thrown off a bit as I felt like it dragged a bit while I was reading through it.

Nevertheless, I do recommend this novel and series to anyone who likes paranormal erotic romances, especially if you don't mind reading about threesomes.

“I’ve been concentrating on the music.” And there’d been no inspiration for his body.
“I don’t think much has changed since then.” Her flingers moved along the front of his lower belly.
He put his hand on her hip. It was a test. Could he be bold with her? “Everything changed in the last day.”
This did get a low laugh from Wolfgang, free from malice. It was knowing. ~ within Chapter 9

Feasted On: Lake City Stories Series, Prequel

- This is an ARC book - Available Formats through Amazon.com: Paperback - Pages: 124; Kindle Edition - File Size: 2128 KB | Expected Release Date: July 1, 2014 | Publisher: Self-Published | Obtained: NetGalley

"Ravenous" [Lake City Stories Series, Prequel] by Annie Nicholas

Author's Book Description : Suffer the hunger.

Pia Blyton wants it all. A steady boyfriend, love and her independence. But to ignore her succubus nature is to welcome chaos. Every three days she must orgasm to feed. Bad sex isn’t an option. Stave off the hunger for too long and her demon side peeks out, and its tastes are much less discerning than hers.

One bad day, one wrong decision, and her demon takes control of her libido and kisses all her best intentions goodbye.

Brokenhearted and ashamed, Pia is dragged home to Lake City by Zur-Sin, a vampire her father paid to find her. When Sin tries delivering Pia to her concerned family, her façade cracks. She can’t face them after what she’s done.

Ever the businessman, Sin offers Pia a compromise. She can stay with him, and he will teach her to control her hunger. All he wants is her body, and half of her father’s empire, in return.

My Book Review : 4 out of 5 stars! This novella made me fall in love with Zur-Sin (Sin) even more! =0)

I know this is a prequel for the series, but I think it makes you like and understand this novella better if you read "Starved For Love," book 1 of this series, first. This prequel makes you understand how Pia got involved with Sin, Cooper, and John in the first place, which in turn made me like/hope for Sin and Pia's relationship for the future.

Overall, I really liked this novella and it excites me to see where this series will go next!

I recommend this prequel and series to anyone who has an open mind, who likes paranormal erotic dramas that have comedic twists, and are based around a hopeless romantic.

Made the Grade: My Fake Summer Boyfriend by Ann Herrick

Format: Kindle Edition | File Size: 2403 KB | Release Date: May 12, 2014 | Publisher: Books We Love Ltd. | Obtained: Amazon.com

"My Fake Summer Boyfriend" by Ann Herrick

Authors' Book Description : Sun, surf, sand and Alex--Katie was swept away!

Katie eagerly agrees to pretend she is Alex's girlfriend for the summer in order to protect his job. Amid sun drenched waves, they develop a friendship that is on the verge of turning romantic, when who should arrive but Nicole, Alex's old girlfriend. In three days, Nicole ruins Katie's relationship with Alex. So Katie gets involved with Logan, Nicole's handsome older brother, though Alex is the one for her.

Soon enough Katie learns that fake romances can get out of hand and lead to complications she never imagined.

My Book Review : 3.5 out of 5 stars. A true teenybopper romantic novel, about major crushes turning into a good friendship that has the possibility to turn into something more if only others won't get in the way.

It could be because it's been a while since I've read any type of teenage angst romances that a found Katie to be very annoying at the beginning. Yet, I'm happy that I stuck with this novel because, while I wouldn't call this a "true love story," I liked how dynamic this novel is as it makes Katie's struggles with finding love with her "Mr. Right" even more compelling to read.

Together I found Katie and Alex to be a cute work-in-progress because they are still teens learning their likes and dislikes about relationships. In addition, even though I didn't always like him as a character, I enjoyed reading about how Alex and his relationship with Katie grows throughout this novel. I especially enjoyed it because I liked reading/finding out how much integrity Alex has; it was endearing to learn.

Overall, I recommend this novel to YA romance fans.

Book Teaser(s) :
"Let's go," Jason said as soon as I'd joined them.
"All right," I said. "Jason, you take the lemonade. Hailey, you take that bag with the paper plates and napkins. Alex, I think it'll take both of us to carry the ice chest."
"Okay," Alex said. "I'm not proud. I can accept help from a woman."
"Good." My spirits rose even higher by Alex's reference to me as a woman.
By the time we reached the dock where we rented the rowboat, I was happy to put down the ice chest. My arm ached. "Oh," I moaned. "My arm."
Alex kneaded my biceps.
"Thanks," I said. "That feels good."
"Don't thank me," Alex said. "You'll need that arm for rowing."
After we'd piled everything in the rowboat and finalized the seating arrangements, with Jason and Hailey together on the front seat, Alex in back and me in the middle with the oars, we were ready to go. I adjusted my life jacket. I was comfortable enough with him not to worry if I looked a little silly. Not that Alex would think a life jacket was silly, and even if he did I have a feeling his mother had probably lectured him on the subject as much as mine had.
Within five minutes I wondered how I would ever make it to the island. The oars rubbed the palms of my hands raw, my arms turned to rubber, and bolts of pain shot through my chest. It didn't help any that Alex sat comfortably with his arms folded, watching every moment of my agony with a broad smile plastered across his face.
"I love to watch you work." Alex grinned.
I smacked an oar on the water and splashed him. "Just wait until it's time for you to row us back!"
"Hmmm. That's better," said Alex. "A little faster and I could water-ski. Don't look now, but we're only a couple hundred yards away."
"Thank good—" ~ within Chapter 7

"Resisting the Musician" [Head Over Heels Series, Book 1] by Ally Blake

Author's Book Description : A secret. A song. A seductive blonde.

From the outside, the guys in the rock band The Rift seem have it all; hit records, loads of cash, and mad sex appeal.

But one thing none of them has is a good woman to come home to. That is until a song, a recipe, and a camera send the bad boys of rock falling head over heels.

My Book Review : 3 out of 5 stars! This is a novel full of misconception! As both Dash and Lori are stilling dealing with major issues from their pasts, when they meet they place the misconceptions they have on each other. Yet, as they get to know one another throughout their "music lessons," they work through those misconceptions and loose their hearts to each other in the process.

A very intense novel because of how Dash and Lori are portrayed as being, I was pleasantly surprised by how much I liked them as characters. Apart they've found lives and passions that they have grown accustomed too, and love. While being together they learn that no matter how much they've achieved thus far in their lives, there was something always missing and until their lives were thrown together, they weren't aware of what or whom they were missing.

However, I will say that at times I found this novel to be a struggle to get through. Yet, I'm not really sure of why it was a struggle just that I felt the dialog dragging here and there.

Nevertheless, I did like how this novel starts out for this series. I know it could have gone in many directions with its serious storylines but I liked how Ms. Blake worked through its intensity and quick twists with a sarcastic humor and spicy romance that was hard to ignore.

I recommend this novel and series to anyone who enjoys intense contemporary romances!!

She frowned down at her skirt, flicking frantic fingers at the smears of slobber. “Those dogs of yours are brats.”
“Nah,” he drawled. “They’re adorable. Ask ’em.”
“Jagger and Bowie, though, seriously?” she said, walking backward along the porch in the hopes he’d hurry up.
“You’ve got something against my mates Mick and Dave?” he asked, his long slow strides still catching up quick enough.
“You actually know them?” Okay, so she didn’t get time to listen to music nowadays unless Mack played some song in the car his daughters liked, but come on, the Stones? Paint It Black had practically been her theme song in high school.
“Never met ’em.” His smile started in his eyes and ended in her toes.
Hating the fact that her cheeks warmed at having fallen for his pretense, she said, “Then why not Sonny and Cher? The Captain and Tennille? Kenny and Dolly?”
“The dogs are both male for one thing,” he said, then shut her up with a press of his hands at her waist as he spun her about and gave her a little shove toward the front door, leaving palm-shaped burns through the diaphanous layers of her frilly top when he let her go. ~ within Chapter 3
She pursed her lips and took a long deep breath in and out. Her version of chilling, he expected. While he felt anything but chilled by the glossy pink pout, the light gleaming off the curves of her long legs, the way her dress kept threatening to fall from over the rise of her shoulder.
Little Dash came to the party. “Down boy,” Big Dash muttered.
Lori’s gaze searched for his huskies, who were once again off somewhere else and of no help to him at all.
“Coming?” he asked, voice like he’d taken a hit to the windpipe. ~ within Chapter 4

Book Excerpt :

His rumpled T-shirt lifted at his belly to reveal a happy trail and the fact that the top two buttons of his jeans had been left undone, as if he’d rolled out of bed, tugged them on, and headed off into the wilderness.
Also leaving her with the pretty sound impression that he wore nothing underneath.
When Callie had mentioned meeting Jake’s illusive reclusive ex-band-mate a few weeks before, Lori had briefly imagined an overweight, overly-tattooed guy who reeked of bourbon and past glory.
Instead, she’d found Thor.

Feasted On: Crown Prince, Pregnant Bride by Kate Hardy

- This is an ARC book - Available Formats through Amazon.com: Paperback - Pages: 256; Kindle Edition - File Size: 299 KB | Expected Release Date: August 1, 2014 | Publisher: Harlequin : Romance | Obtained: NetGalley

"Crown Prince, Pregnant Bride" by Kate Hardy

Authors' Book Description : A royal surprise!

One look into the stranger's dark, mysterious eyes and Indigo Moran knows she's made a mistake in taking his picture. But who does he think he is? A prince? That night Indigo discovers that's exactly who he is: Crown Prince Lorenzo Torelli of Melvante.

To Lorenzo, duty lies with his country—he can't offer Indigo forever. The trouble is...once he's kissed her, one unforgettable night will never be enough. And now Indigo's little secret is about to turn his carefully ordered world upside down!

My Book Review : 4.5 out of 5 stars!!! Another Cinderella-esque novel shoots for the stars and soars!! Indigo and Lorenzo meet while staying at a mutual friends' house, during their time there they get to know each other, agree to a short "mad" affair together while staying there, and unknowingly fall in love. Yet, because of Indigo's past and a big mistake she made, Indigo doesn't feel worthy of carrying on their relationship after their agree end date. Therefore, Lorenzo sets out to prove that while it wont be easy where Indigo belongs is to be with him. Luckily, fate agrees with Lorenzo too...

Ever since I read the Author's Book Description I have wanted to read it, so I'm lucky that it met my expectations so much that I completed it in one day! The buildup to this novel, about how they get to know one another, I believe was my favorite part because those chapters prove how alike they are while wrapping you into their romance. In truth, the only trouble I had deal with at times was Indigo's stubborn streak.

Nevertheless, I just couldn't get enough of Lorenzo and Indigo together. Their easy banter and common backgrounds were just the icing of why I liked them as a couple. Plus, I feel for Lorenzo too. Who wouldn't wish to have a man fight so hard to prove that you’re thinking wrong, so he would be able to keep you in his life? I definitely would want a man like Lorenzo! =0)

I recommend this novel to anyone who likes contemporary fairy-tale romances!

He blinked. 'Sit for you?'
'So I can draw you.'
He'd already worked that out. 'Why?'
She spread her hands. 'Because you look like an angel.'
Heat spread through him. Was this her way of telling him that she was attracted to him? Did she feel the same weird pull that he did? 'An angel?' He knew he was parroting what she said, but he didn't care if he sounded dim. He needed to find out where this was going.
'Or a medieval prince.'
That was rather closer to home. Though he thought her ignorance about his identity was totally genuine. ~ within Chapter 2

Disappointmentville: Seattle Wolf Pack Series, Book 3

- This is an ARC book - Available Formats through Amazon.com: Kindle Edition - File Size: 1125 KB | Expected Release Date: July 28, 2014 | Publisher: Entangled Publishing : Covet | Obtained: Entangled Publishing

"So I Married a Werewolf" [Seattle Wolf Pack Series, Book 3] by Kristin Miller

Author's Book Description : Carter Griffin, enforcing officer for the Seattle Wolf Pack, has a problem. He's been offered the promotion of his dreams...if he can find a wife to prove he's over his playboy ways. But Carter's already walked the matrimonial road and bought the stinkin' T-shirt. Besides, a werewolf only gets one fated mate. Been there, done that.

All werewolf dog trainer Faith Hamilton wants to do is earn enough green stuff to put her younger brother through college. Okay, okay, so she also totally wants Carter, her sexy next-door neighbor, to look at her as more than a friend. It's too bad size 12 and plain isn't his type. At all.

The two friends strike a deal to help one another out. They must face a variety of challenges from a psycho ex-girlfriend to a Yorkie with a shoe fetish...and that pesky problem of only having one-fated mate in a lifetime. Will a relationship ruin their friendship…or spark a love neither anticipated?

My Book Review : 2.5 out of 5 stars. This quirky werewolf romance was so cute I couldn't help but root for Carter & Faith. I thoroughly enjoyed their easy banter, learning about Luminaries, and reading about their love story. It was sweet.

Yet, because of just how sweet it was, it dragged a lot towards the end. In addition, even though I liked how their relationship played out, the intensity of this novel is more hyped then it needs to be, as I kept "waiting for the next shoe to drop" (like Faith getting attacked or something) which never happened. It left me a bit disappointed to see that the ending (while good) wrapped up a bit to perfectly for me.

Therefore, I recommend this novel to those who are fans of this series and/or Ms. Miller.

“No, it’s a teacup. They’re supposed to be this small.” Laughing, Faith fought to control the black-and-white ball of fur. “This guy doesn’t seem to want to be held.”
Gently, she set the dog down. It scurried to Carter’s side like its fur was on fire, and latched onto the tip of his boot. It pumped furiously, its petite backside doing an erratic version of the Humpty Dance.
What the hell?” Carter gave the dog a little shake. “Run all the way over here for a quick hump?”
The puppy wouldn’t shake off.
“Looks like he likes you,” Faith said. “Must be those rugged good looks you were talking about.”
“Shut.” Carter wiggled his foot around. “Up.” ~ within Chapter 6
