Disappointmentville: Demons Unleashed Series, Book 2

- This is an ARC book - Available Formats through Amazon.com: Paperback - Pages: 418; Kindle Edition - File Size: 1425 KB | Expected Release Date: December 1, 2011 | Publisher: Sourcebooks Casablanca | Obtained: NetGalley

"Demons Like It Hot" [Demons Unleashed Series, Book 2] by Sidney Ayers

My Book Summary : Matthias recently decided that he was going to stop being a mercenary and start working on the good side for a change becoming a Paladin. His first mission however he is not happy about since it means protecting Serah, a feisty independent chef who he can't get his mind to stop thinking about ever since he met her a few months back. Nevertheless, he will not mess up this mission and he will do anything within his power to keep Serah safe, even if that means keeping her safe from himself.

Last year Serah and her best friend, Lucy, found out about a whole world they never knew and found out how Lucy is a part of that world. However, even though she recently has had a few run-ins with "things" from that world she still sticks to the saying that she is completely a human and she has no plans to be anything other than a great chef.

Now it's up to Matthias and Serah's friends to protect her and prove to her how wrong she is .... before it's too late.

My Book Review : 2.5 out of 5 stars. This novel is full of suspense, witty commentary, and brooding glances. So, all in all I thought it was an okay book to read. I liked the characters and the plot had a lot of potential to make this into one addicting series. However, it probably would have been easier if I read the first novel in this series, "Demons Prefer Blondes." Yet I didn't so I was lost throughout this book and I didn't really get into it until about a little over halfway through.

The reasons I liked and finished the novel even though I gave it a low score:
• the camaraderie of the characters
• the few twist in the plot that I didn't see coming
• the relationship between Matthias and Serah

So, I would only recommend this book to those of you who have finished and enjoyed reading "Demons Prefer Blondes" as I think this could be a fun series and I don't want you to miss out on what could be something good.

Teaser #1
Kalli plunked the pendent from his hands and looked down at the pendent. She traced the carvings with a gentle fingertip. "I like simple things, Ambrose. Is that a crime?"
"Could have fooled me."
"A medieval pendent goes perfectly well with my Goth attire."
"Still, I'd like to know where you obtained it."
"If I said Sotheby's, would that help ease your tension?"
This wasn't the time for sarcasm, not when his mission only held on by a single thread. ~ within Chapter 28

"Forever His Texas Bride"
[Bachelors of Battle Creek Trilogy, Book 3] by Linda Broday

Author's Book Description :
“There’s this thing between us that refuses to die. I’d like nothing better than to be able to…” His words faded. He’d give anything to change people’s views about his race…to be able to make her his wife.

But the world wasn’t that simple. Not for people like them.

She was a pickpocket and he a half-breed.

All his life, Brett Liberty has straddled two worlds: white and Iroquois. The only place he’s truly at peace is with his wild mustangs. But after he’s arrested for the color of his skin, he discovers Rayna Harper in the cell next to him. Rough and tumble Rayna has known little kindness, but Brett sees the depth of her heart hidden beneath layers of hurt and fear, and he refuses to leave without her.

Fierce and loyal, kind and strong, Rayna is everything Brett has ever wanted. But the world doesn’t look kindly on a love like theirs, and he would rather let her go than bring her pain. Yet when the demons of his past threaten her future, Brett realizes he will do anything to keep Rayna safe…and make her his.

Book Excerpt :

Rayna sat up, pushed back her cloud of russet hair, and got up from the bunk in Brett’s jail cell. It was then he saw that she wore a heavy pair of men’s brogans. What on earth! The shoes looked as though they might’ve come off a very poor dead man.
Her dirty dress had been mended so many times it looked like a patchwork quilt with none of the squares matching. But she seemed so spirited, so brave.
If society had ever allowed him to take a wife, he’d want someone like her. He hated to think he’d have spent all his life never knowing what it could be like to be happy like his brothers now were. While he waited to die, maybe they could pretend.
Maybe he could know what it was like to be loved.
Until they led him through those doors to a hangman, maybe he could have the bride prejudice had denied him. The bold notion made ripples dance under his skin.
Brett raised to a sitting position, ignoring the pain shooting through his back. “This may sound crazy, but I’m going to ask anyway. Rayna, do you think you could pretend to be my wife? Just until they take me away? No one will ever know but us, so they can’t hurt you.”
Turning, she dropped down beside him. Surprised tears bubbled in her eyes. “No one ever asked me to marry them before.”
“Is that a no?”
“I’d be honored to be your pretend wife,” she whispered, brushing his face with her fingers. “What do we do now?”
“Do you mind if I kiss you?”
“I’d like that…husband.”
Under her bright gaze, he lowered his head. But before their lips touched, the sound of a key grating in the lock made him jerk back. “Quick, go to your cell before they catch you with me.”
Rayna scurried into hers and quietly eased the door shut.
Just then a deputy sauntered in, taking care to keep his distance from Brett’s cell. “You alive, breed?”
Brett glared. “Disappointed?”
The deputy—a squat man who reminded Brett of a possum with little weasel eyes, grunted, shifting his gaze to Rayna. “Give any thought to my offer, woman?”
No one had to spell out what the deputy meant. Brett sought to tamp down his rising anger. He watched Rayna tilt her head at a defiant angle.
“The answer is the same as all the other times.”
The weasel shrugged and went back out. The minute the door locked shut, Rayna slowly walked into Brett’s cell and sat down beside him again. “I wish I could see the sky and smell the fresh air.”
“How long have you been in here?”
“Over a month, I think. With each sunrise I’ve been making a mark on the wall. The one today makes thirty-one. But no matter how much I want out, I’m not doing what that deputy wants,” she whispered. “I’ll never be a fine lady, but even I have my dignity. No one will ever take that.”
Though still hesitant, Brett took her small, dainty hand. Her skin shone white against his. He couldn’t remember the last time he’d touched someone who wasn’t family, but his pretend wife was different somehow. “Always stand on your principles. In the end, we still have to live with ourselves, look at our face in the mirror.”

Disappointmentville: Bad Boys of Crystal Lake Series, Book 3

- This is an ARC book - Available Formats through Amazon.com: Paperback - Pages: 321; Kindle Edition - File Size: 1165 KB | Expected Release Date: April 1, 2014 | Publisher: Sourcebooks Casablanca | Obtained: NetGalley

"The Day He Kissed Her" [Bad Boys of Crystal Lake Series, Book 3] by Juliana Stone (aka Julie Bale)

Author's Book Description : He can’t wait to leave...

Mac Draper finally has everything he’s always wanted: An amazing career. A New York City apartment. He’s this close to being free of his past forever. But a mind-blowing encounter with the sexy yet tough-as-nails Lily St. Clare has him delaying his plans to put Crystal Lake in his rearview mirror for good.

She’s finally found a place to stay...

For Lily St. Clare the charming small town of Crystal Lake is her haven – a place she can hide from her famous, back-stabbing family. It’s as close to happy as she’s ever been. Until an unforgettable night with tall, dark and tortured Mac Draper gives her a glimpse of what true happiness feels like.

Lily can’t help but melt a little under the sizzling heat of Mac’s touch. But Mac’s scars run deep, and Lily’s afraid she may be falling for the one man who can never return her feelings...

My Book Review : 2.5 out of 5 stars, a man goes home for an annual get-together and finds the one woman who sets him on fire, can he win her over and not give away his heart or will their non-relationship be more then either of them can handle?

I loved reading about Mackenzie (Mac) & Lily's "non-relationship," it was HOT and sweet while still giving themselves room to grow even if they don't want it too. In truth, their banter and spicy tales together really made me like this novel. However, this novel also had heart because it wasn't all light and fun as I expected it to be. Throughout this novel, while they deal with their growing feelings for one another, Lily & Mac try to overcome their pasts and families both of which were harsh because of how they were treated. It wasn't what I expected to read about but it made this novel more dynamic.

Nevertheless, because of how the plot was laid out it was hard for me to fall in love with this novel. The first chapter was a struggle for me to get through because of how slow the pace was, yet once Lily & Mac meet again in chapter two the pace moves along. Then it was hard for me to appreciate the last few chapters because of how Mac reacts to everything around him and how he deals with the clean up of it all. I mean I like that he didn't take long to correct his wrongs, yet I think for what he did it all wrapped up a bit too nicely. And I say that even though I feel happy about them getting together.

Overall, it was an okay novel. Therefore, I recommend it mostly to those who are fans of Ms. Stone and/or of this series.

Lily's eyes feasted on the sight of his wide shoulders, muscular back, and, damn those old, faded cargo shorts were dangerously close to exposing what she knew was one hell of a butt. God, he probably wasn't wearing any---
"I know you're staring at my ass," Mac said over his shoulder.
Wait. What?
Liam snorted and shot a look her way before running ahead of his uncle and disappearing inside.
"I was not," she began and froze when he turned back to her. The man could stop traffic with that face and smile, and at the moment, he seemed to have stopped not only her heart but all rational thought.
"It's okay. You can admit it," he said with a wicked grin. ~ within Chapter 21

Feasted On: Harmony Homecomings Series, Book 2

- This is an ARC book - Available Formats through Amazon.com: Paperback - Pages: 352; Kindle Edition - File Size: 1231 KB | Expected Release Date: July 7, 2015 | Publisher: Sourcebooks Casablanca | Obtained: NetGalley

"Not So New In Town" [Harmony Homecomings Series, Book 2] by Michele Summers

Authors' Book Description : "Sexy and fun! This small-town romance proves you can go home again." - Macy Beckett, acclaimed author of the Dumont Bachelors series.

You can't go back, and you can't stand still...
Lucy Doolan is a marketing genius. She can sell rain to a frog and snow to a polar bear. Newly single and unemployed, she's lured back to her hometown of Harmony, North Carolina to help out her pregnant evil stepsister...only to find former crush heartthrob Brogan Reese has returned too, to open a new business in town. To add insult to injury, he's still hot.

If the thunder don't get you, then the lightning will...
Brogan never noticed Lucy much when they were young, but seventeen people have recommended her to help him. She's got his attention now. With her sweet personality, brilliant imagination, and penchant for doing the completely unpredictable, Brogan is finding a whole lot of excuses to spend his days-and nights-with Lucy.

My Book Review : 4 out of 5 stars!! Lucy heads back to her hometown with hopes to reinvent herself after a bad breakup and help her rude older stepsister while she's on bed rest. Once home she finds herself floundering to try to keep her teenage nephew's life on track and trying to settle into small town life again. That is until Brogan (her old high school crush and her stepsister's ex-boyfriend) makes it his mission to have them help each other out, him with her nephew and her with marketing his new business. However, old habits die-hard and it soon becomes apparent that her crush for him is alive and well. The good news is it's reciprocated too. Yet as they both have plans to leave town after a few months will their romance be just a fling or turn into something more?

With some surprising twists and a whole lot of charm, this novel keeps you on the edge of your seat the whole way through. From all the characters' playful banter to Lucy's colorful internal & external commentary, I couldn't get enough. I especially enjoyed how unwittingly Brogan sweeps into Lucy's life and lights up her world as their romance begins. They are just SOO perfect for one another! In addition, I liked how even though Lucy's stepsister is rude Lucy tries to put an effort into their relationship, no matter how "grouchy" her sibling gets. Just I am wishing that her sibling wasn't the cause for Brogan's "big epiphany" even though I liked how she got him back on track. The ending was great!

I recommend this novel to those looking for a HOT comedic contemporary romance!

Blog Tour - Daniel’s True Desire by Grace Burrowes | Guest Post, Spreading the Word, & Ms. Burrowes' TRUE GENTLEMEN Series Giveaway

Today I'm turning my blog over to Grace Burrowes, who is has a message for you all about True Gentlemanliness.

ALSO -- Be sure to check out Rafflecopter at the bottom of this post to be able to sign up for this blog stop's GIVEAWAY!! [Blog Tour & Giveaway will run from November 2 - 29, 2015]

The Joys of True Gentlemanliness…

About twenty books ago, I lamented (whined) to one of my brothers that coming up with ways to challenge a romance hero into facing his worst fears and risking all to win the heroine’s heart was taxing my imagination. My brother, without a heartbeat’s pause said, “Make him choose between the competing demands of honor.”

THAT was great advice. Make the hero choose between the woman who needs him, and the military unit depending on him. Make him choose between avenging injustices from his past, or respecting the wishes of the pacifist woman he loves. Make him decide whether to be publicly vindicated or privately forgiving… Delightful stuff, for an author!

And yet, to travel along these brilliant character arcs, our hero must have one characteristic: He must have a well-developed sense of honor. To me, that means this fellow must be honest and kind. He can be poor, grouchy, lacking in charm, without prospects, unlucky in love—Daniel Banks is nodding his head—but ideally, he will still be a true gentleman at heart.

The true gentleman, alas for him, can be tormented from page one by the author and by the story, but from the start, the true gentleman will play by the rules of decency.

Rules are tough. The true gentleman will never misrepresent himself, which means Daniel Banks must inform Lady Kirsten that a) he’s married, and b) he won’t disrespect his vows. Too bad for Daniel, this honesty only raises him in the lady’s esteem, when he’s trying to emphasize his unsuitability.

The true gentleman will lend a hand—or an ear—to those in need. When Daniel Banks realizes that Lady Kirsten has been overlooked by her entire family, and is as lonely as an earl’s daughter can be, the least he can do is listen when she explains the misery in her past. Again, his respect for, and understanding of her increases, but what else could a gentleman have done?

The true gentleman is kind. He does not ignore the suffering of others, even if that means, he’s left with a bigger helping of suffering on his own plate. When Lady Kirsten needs a champion to fight her battles with an overbearing brother, Daniel steps up, though it might cost him his position. Once again, Daniel’s decency only gets him in hotter water, because now Kirsten’s brother is also viewing the impecunious, reserved, sometimes grouchy, vicar with renewed respect.

This business of being a true gentleman is darned hard, and darned heroic. What Daniel has to learn, though, is that true gentlemanliness begins at home. When he’s honest with himself, and shows himself the compassion we all deserve, all the inconvenient rules, tough choices, and honorable standards turn out to have been his second-best friends.

Lady Kirsten is, of course, his very best friend, being a true lady. But that’s another story…

"Daniel’s True Desire"
[The True Gentlemen Series, Book 2] by Grace Burrowes

Author's Book Description :
Daniel Banks is a man of the cloth whose vocation is the last comfort he has left–and even his churchman’s collar is beginning to feel like a noose. In an attempt to start his life over, Daniel accepts the post of vicar in Haddondale, a position supported by the Earl of Bellefonte. There Daniel meets Lady Kirsten Haddonfield, to whom life has also dealt multiple unkind blows. Daniel’s interest is piqued by Kirsten’s unsentimental attitude toward her misfortunes, and by the kind-heartedness the lady keeps well hidden. Kirsten is much taken with Mr. Banks and his genuine compassion for others, despite his own troubles. When Providence intervenes, and Daniel and Kirsten can become engaged, their happiness seems complete…. though every garden has at least one nasty, sly, determined serpent.

Daniel’s True Desire by Grace Burrowes | #GuestPost, #SpreadingTheWord, & Ms. Burrowes' TRUE GENTLEMEN Series #Giveaway...
Posted by From Me to You - Video, Photography, & Book Reviews on Monday, November 2, 2015

Book Excerpt :

Daniel Banks is the new vicar in Haddondale, temporarily a guest of Lady Kirsten’s family. They’ve dragooned him into tutoring some of the local boys, and Kirsten is managing the staff who’ll turn the dower house into a place of learning. What Daniel doesn’t know is how a married man, even one estranged from his unworthy spouse, can resist the allure of friendship with Lady Kirsten…

“I dread crossing the garden,” Lady Kirsten said. “Susannah has taken up reading old issues of La Belle Assembleé, Della is memorizing DeBrett’s, and the countess talks only of fashion. Nobody does anything.”

“Most would envy them their idleness,” Daniel said, though he did not. The earl gave a good account of himself, tending to significant acreage and mercantile interests, but the women were bored.

One of the women was mortally bored, though never boring.

“I want to take the vicarage in hand,” Lady Kirsten said, marching from the pantry. “I doubt I’ll have time before we leave for Town the week after next. Lemon and beeswax won’t cure rising damp any way.”

Nothing cured rising damp save for replacing every scrap of affected wood. “You’re leaving soon, then?”

The prospect of distance from Lady Kirsten should have been a relief. She was unconventional, discontent, and unpredictable. Worse yet, she was patient with small boys, had a strong streak of domestic competence, and could not dissemble even to appease appearances.

Most troublesome of all, Daniel liked her. A lot.

“I smell fresh bread.” Lady Kirsten’s pace increased, then she halted to twist a sachet from behind a curtain. “Nicholas told George that in addition to Digby and the Blumenthal brats, you’re to take on both of Squire Webber’s sons. He aspires to send them to public school, but they lack a foundation.”

And years of dedicated tutors had been unable to remedy that lack? “I think you had better join me for lunch,” Daniel said resuming their progress toward a hot meal.

“I believe I shall. I adore a hearty beef stew with bread and butter on a cold, rainy day. Cook uses Mama’s recipe, and I’m partial to it.”

Peasant fare, for an earl’s daughter. Daniel liked her entirely too well.

A scullery maid set places for them at a wooden table heavy enough to double as a threshing floor, while Lady Kirsten served up bowls of steaming stew and Daniel sliced the bread. Daniel held the lady’s chair, and then, without even a nod in the direction of further small talk, took shameless advantage of his companion.

“I want to know every detail you can share about my scholars, Lady Kirsten. They’re shaping up to be a pack of ne’er-do-wells, scamps and scapegraces. One wonders if the parish isn’t attempting to run me off rather than welcome me.”

She snapped her serviette across her lap. “They’re out and out rotters, every one save for Digby, but George says he’s showing dubious potential. Don’t steal all the butter.”

Daniel passed her ladyship the plate of butter, small golden molds in the shape of roses.

“Your butter, and Lord-we-thank-Thee-for-this-food, amen. Now tell me about these scoundrels.”

Lady Kirsten sat back, her smile indulgent. “I’ve known them since they were babies, Mr. Banks. They’re full of energy and mischief, and there’s not a Latin scholar among them. They are truly, truly awful.”

She loved these rotten boys, and—greatest possible inconvenience—Daniel regarded this her most attractive quality of all.

A Love Letter to Book Bloggers by @benreadsbooks | #BookBloggers Fangirling #GuestPost

Confession time ... I am not sure what went down on Twitter about Book Bloggers ... and in some ways I am completely happy to be in denial about whatever it was. Yet, I am a book blogger (I have been since this blog began in 2008) and I am a booktuber (I have been since I included "bookish" videos on my youtube channel in 2017) ... therefore I find what Ben is putting together really important.

Yes BookTube is an important venue for Authors, however Book Bloggers have been around for generations and we do not plan on going away. So I truly appreciate Ben of Benreadsbooks & BenReadsBooks trying in bring everyone together in his own way. I did comment on Ben's tweet and no I do not know if or when he'll mention my blog ... or if he'll mention it at all. That is fine. I would love the support but it is not needed. I have come to terms with how much "support" I will get over the years and in truth I get more support from authors than I have from supporters or followers. It is why I do what I do and why I have created a small business in assisting authors the best I can.

Please watch Ben's video below. If you are a book blogger be sure to comment on Ben's tweet too.

Made the Grade: Sinners on Tour Series, Book 5

- This is an ARC book - Available Formats through Amazon.com: Paperback - Pages: 399; Kindle Edition - File Size: ??? KB | Expected Release Date: November 1, 2012 | Publisher: Sourcebooks Casablanca | Obtained: NetGalley

"Double Time" [Sinners on Tour Series, Book 5] by Olivia Cunning

My Book Summary : Trey has been in love with his best friend, Brian, for at least 10 years and he has now come to the realization that he'll never reciprocate his feelings and it's time to move on. However, even though he is bisexual, he believes the best way to move on is to avoid being with any men ever again. So, when he meets Reagan, who is in his brother Dare's band, Exodus End, as their newest rhythm guitarist, he is enraptured with her beauty and soon gets her to become his girlfriend (really his first committed relationship). As their relationship, quickly progresses and they both find themselves falling in love with each other. Nevertheless, Trey cannot change who he is and what he feels, especially for Ethan who is Reagan's best friend, roommate, ex-bisexual boyfriend, and newest bodyguard. Will their love be strong enough to survive everything that will happen to them or will their world-win romance come to an end?

My Book Review : 3.5 out of 5 stars, this highly erotic romance is one that you won't want to put down! Even though from what I saw on the author's website the books aren't being published in order, this book completes the series with Trey's story. I really enjoyed reading how fast-paced Trey, Reagan, and Ethan's romance becomes and how they grow throughout this novel.

• Trey: Sinners’ rhythm guitarist. Bisexual. In love with his best friend, Brian. Falls in love with Reagan. Use to being the life of the party.

• Reagan: Exodus End's new rhythm guitarist. Falls in love with Trey. A big fan of the Sinners and Exodus End. Best friends with Ethan.

• Ethan: Ex-police officer. Bisexual. In love with his best friend, Reagan. Reagan's ex-boyfriend. Is attracted to Trey.

• Brian: Trey's best friend. Sinners' lead guitarist. Married to Myrna. Frantic new father.

• Sed: Sinners’ lead singer. Engaged to Jessica. Planning to start a family soon.

• Jace: Sinners’ bassist. Engaged to Aggie. Into BDSM.

• Eric: Sinners’ drummer. Married to Rebekah. Likes to role play.

• Dare: Trey's older brother. Exodus End's lead guitarist. Owns a McMansion.

• Max: Exodus End's lead singer. Used to be Exodus End's rhythm guitarist before he got carpal tunnel syndrome.

• Logan: Exodus End's bassist.

• Steve: Exodus End's drummer.

While I loved the characters, I found this book mostly wrapped up everyone else's stories but the end really left Trey/Ethan/Reagan's story with a "where will they go next" type of question. Not that I didn't enjoy this story or its ending, I just want this not to be the last in this series. OR have the author create a series based on Exodus End so I can find out what happened between Trey, Ethan, and Reagan while also finding out more about Reagan's new band since they seem very interesting too! =0)

I recommend this novel to anyone who enjoys reading erotic romance's about rock stars!!

"We're guys," Logan said. "We're not used to having to behave ourselves."
"Why would you have to behave yourselves?" Reagan asked.
"You're a woman," Steve said.
"I think we've already agreed on that point."
"We don't want you to get freaked out and leave in the middle of the tour," Dare said.
"No chance."
"You'll undoubtedly see things..."
"I get it. You guys party. You fuck sluts. You cuss and argue. You lose your minds and break shit. Whatever. I can handle it."
They exchanged glances.
"I can handle it," she insisted.
"All right, but we're going to be pissed if you back out on us."
"I won't." ~ within Chapter 3
"Reagan," he said, hoping she could hear him. "Reagan?"
"Trey," she said breathlessly.
"Does it make you jealous to see me with Ethan?" he asked.

"How to Marry a Cowboy" [Cowboys & Bride's Series, Book 4] by Carolyn Brown

Authors' Book Description : This cowboy's met his match, and he's gonna put a ring on it

Rancher Mason Harper's two little girls want nothing more than a mama of their own. So when a pretty woman appears on his front porch in a tattered wedding dress, he can't help but wonder if it's fate.

Annie Rose Boudreau is in a downright hellish mess. She's just a few steps ahead of the lowlife ex who's been hot on her heels, but she's tired of running, and nannying Mason's two sweet girls may be just what she needs. As her days on the ranch fly by, and the nights with Mason get hotter, Annie Rose decides that she's going to stay... for a lifetime.

My Book Review : 3.5 out of 5 stars! It was just soo sweet! I kept waiting for "the next boot to drop" or something major to happen to one of the main characters (Annie Rose & Mason) to add a bit more drama but it never happened, this was just a slow and steady contemporary romance that keeps you entertained the whole way through.

Annie Rose & Mason make a good team and couple. Personally, they are so connected and like the same things, I kept wondering what Mason would have done if he met Annie Rose before he married Holly ... which would he have stuck with? I kept thinking that, mostly because Annie Rose & Mason seem so perfect for each other I just can't imagine Holly & him working together well.

But anyways .... I liked the characters ... all of them. Especially Gabby & Lily, who are funny and rambunctious!

I recommend this novel to those who enjoy cowboy contemporary romances!

Book Teaser(s) :
He pulled her into a big hay barn and pointed to the ladder leading up to the loft. "Best way to see a ranch is through the doors in a hayloft," he said.
She planted a foot on the bottom rung and scampered up the ladder, unhindered by the dress length. Coming back down would pose more of a problem and she'd have to be careful not to get tangled up in the flowing material around her ankles.
He followed her. "You do that like you've done it before."
"It ain't my first rodeo or my first hayloft," she said. ~ within Chapter 8
The title on the front of the third booklet said How to Be a Mommy. She sat down in her recliner and smiled as she opened it.
Number 1: First you got to get kids. You can't be a mommy without kids.
Number 2: Twins are the best kind of kids, because only kids like Damian are little shits. Lily said that Mama-Nanny, so if anyone gets in trouble for bad words, it's got to be her.
Number 3: Girl twins are better than boy twins. Two of Damian would make the angels and even God shudder.
Number 4: You got to love the kids to be a good mommy. We think that you love us almost as much as we love you, so you will make a good mommy.
Number 5: A good mommy would never put her girls in a schoolroom where Damian was or where his mommy was a teacher, neither one. We love you, Mama-Nanny. ~ within Chapter 17

Made the Grade: Covent Garden Cubs Series, Book 0.5

- This is an ARC book - Available Formats through Amazon: Kindle Edition - File Size: 534 KB | Expected Release Date: January 6, 2015 | Publisher: Sourcebooks Casablanca | Obtained: NetGalley

"Viscount of Vice" [Covent Garden Cubs Series, Book 0.5] by Shana Galen (aka Shane Bolks)

Author's Book Description : This sparkling novella introduces award-winning author Shana Galen's brand new series, Covent Garden Cubs. Galen mixes London's glittering ballrooms with the gritty underworld in her exciting new Regency romance series.

Whispers and secrets are no match for love...
Henry Flynn, the new Lord Chesham, still blames himself for the disappearance of his younger brother when they were children. That incident destroyed his family, and now he's on a path of self-destruction that no one can interrupt...

Lady Emma Talbot can't stand watching the man she secretly loves destroy himself little by little. She's determined to show him that no one holds him culpable, before it's too late. But Emma doesn't know what really happened to Flynn on that fateful day long ago, so what chance does she have of saving him from himself?

My Book Review : 3.5 out of 5 stars. Two years after their first meeting, Flynn (Henry) finds himself being pulled by some unknown force to Emma again. Even after being warned off by Emma's older brother, Flynn knows he should avoid her at all costs but it's hard to do. Yet when circumstances throw Emma into grave danger Flynn will risk it all to get her back...

This short novella is a spicy and sweet thriller that takes you on an unexpected adventure while it brings together two people who are living in vastly different situations. What enamored me to this novel was Flynn and Emma's connection as it's instantaneous and combustible. In addition, I liked how the plot built up their interactions together.

The thing that was hard to enjoy was the forced hurriedness that some of the scenes displayed. As those scenes didn't feel as smoothly transitioned as they could be, nevertheless, I loved any of the scenes where Flynn and Emma were together.

I recommend this novel for those who are fans of Ms. Galen and/or if you're looking for a quick historical romance.
