"Chasing Perfect" [Fool's Gold Series, Book 1] by Susan Mallery
My Book Summary : Charity has been through one disaster of a relationship after the next, so when she is hired for a new job as the city planner she takes it and moves to Fools Gold. The town that is quaint, homey and nothing like the locations she grew up in. The only thing that takes a little time to get used to is that secrets are hard to keep, so everyone knows everyone else's business.
Josh has lived in Fools Gold since he was ten. Shortly after he moved there, his mother took off and the town took him in. Even though he has become a famous bike racer (and was the second youngest to win the Tour de France), his home has always been in Fools Gold and he seems to be able to do no wrong in the eyes of the town.
Charity appears to be able to get see the image behind the one that Josh portrays, finding out he isn't as perfect as he seems. However, maybe that she is exactly the person Josh needs ... someone who knows how much the value of not being perfect really is.
My Book Review : 3 out of 5 stars. This book was about two people who have been left or abandoned by those they loved in their past and are learning how to trust again. The town of Fools Gold is very well written, the characters are great, and it makes to wish you could visit the town yourself. However, the book was a little too predictable for you to really enjoy it.
My favorite characters in this book were Charity & Pia! Charity was a good leading lady. I really hope one of these Fools Gold series books will be about Pia getting a man or at least mention it in one of the secondary plots of a book, since she was a sweetie, it made me wish I could have her as a friend. =0)

Book Teaser :
"My going out with him isn't about you," she told him.
"Never thought it was."
"I'm just saying."
"Right." Now he was pissed. "Have you kissed Robert? Because you sure as hell kissed me."
She stiffened, then looked around as if she didn't want anyone to hear.
"That was an accident," she said, her voice low and tense.
"Right. You fell into my arms and our mouths bumped."
Irritation flashed in her brown eyes. "You're not all that."
Truer words had never been spoken, he thought, then he grabbed her upper arms and drew her in those last few inches.
"Want to bet?" he asked, right before his mouth settled on hers. ~ within Chapter 8
