Feasted On: Three Kisses trilogy, Book 1

Format: Kindle Edition | File Size: 458 KB | Release Date: June 2010 | Publisher: Berkley Sensation

"Crush on You" [Three Kisses trilogy, Book 1] by Christie Ridgway

My Book Summary : This book has three themes/stories that all intertwine together ...

In the main story, we have Alessandra (Allie) and Penn. For the past five years Allie has been known as the Nun of Napa because of her heart braking those five years before and because since then she hasn't dated anyone and has no plans to. Penn came to Napa to get away from his life in L.A.; also, he is here to get to know his half-brothers whom just recently found out of his existence. Between the two of them sparks fly uncontrollably, but both of them don't expect anything to happen as they deal with issues of their pasts. However, when Penn agrees to help Allie rebuild her family's old cottage the attraction between them keeps building until it just might explode.

In the secondary story, we have Gil (Allie's cousin) and Clare (Allie's friend). They have been best friends since they were five years old, and they have always been there for each other. However, just about a year ago Gil realized his attraction for Clare was more then friendship but during that same time she agreed to marry someone else. Now with the wedding around the corner Gil is preparing himself for the loss of loosing Clare to another man and not being able to have as close of a connection between then once that happens. While Clare is dealing with a mother who keeps stepping on her wishes for the wedding, and finding herself getting jealous over this mystery girl who seems to be holding Gil's attention.

The background story ties everything together .... Tanti Baci is the winery/vineyard that Allie (along with her two older sisters) is trying to save from being sold away from them. It's been in the family for generations but when their father died, they found that it is in dire straights, so something needs to be done to save it. Allie has hopes that if they can fix up the old cottage that's on the property and make it a wedding local then that will be the first step to getting the business to pick up. However, when you have no money, getting a contractor to come in and fix up the place for cheap keeps getting harder and harder.

My Book Review : 4 out of 5 stars ... sweet, romantic, heart-warming ... this book was all of those things and more! I loved all of the characters, they all had great stories who's descriptions weren't all told right away so the story keeps you guessing up until the end. This series/trilogy is supposed to be about Allie's sisters trying to save their family winery while falling in love with the neighbor guys who their family has had been in a feud with the guy's family for generations too. I'm curious as to how the stories with the other sisters will play out. =0)

Book Teaser(s) :
His smile was sad. "I don't know, Clare. You being another guy's wife might alter things between us."
"It won't! You'll see!" She hated how he was expecting--and accepting--that their friendship would take a permanent hit with her wedding. "You're still my best friend, Gil," she announced, her voice fierce.
He glanced at her. "Okay." ~ within Chapter 8

"Nightshade" [Nightshade Series, Book 1] by Andrea Cremer ( I read this as a part of 1 ARC Tours)

My Book Summary : Calla (Cal) has known her whole life that when she turned 18-years-old she would have a union with Ren (the young Alpha -- who's her age -- of a different pack) and be his mate. However, with just about a month left before their union, suddenly her world changes, all when she saves a teenage human boy in the woods. By saving him, she breaks many rules of her people, but afterwards she knocks him on his head to make him believe that it was all a dream, and thinks she'll never see him again. Too bad that plan doesn't work out when she goes to school on Monday to find him as the new boy in her classes, named Seamus (Shay).

At first Cal doesn't know how she should act around him, but after a while she knows that he remembers their encounter in the woods, so talks to him a bit without letting anyone (especially those in her pack) know. While they hang out they learn more about each other and they grow closer together, also Cal tell Shay more about her people and the way things are run. However, later on while at a club with her pack she finds that her "masters" (the Keepers) want Shay for unknown reasons, but they inform her (and her pack) that they would like them to keep an eye out for Shay. In the mean time Shay decides to brake into his "uncle's" library and comes across an old text that counters the stories that Cal has grown up to know, and it also talks about a prophesy that both Cal and Shay are intrigued to find more about.

Will Cal go forth with her union with Ren or will she take a chance with Shay instead? And what will they find in the book, could it change everything Cal has ever believed in?

My Book Review : 4 out of 5 stars!! The main characters are great and so complex. Nightshade keeps you guessing the whole book through! A little of the plot is predictable but it's still entertaining. Plus, I will admit that the books ends on a cliff hanger, where I'm not sure what will happen in the next book anymore. I'll definitely be keeping up with this series the whole ride through!!

"Thanks." His quiet murmur was strained. He cleared his throat. "It's a little hard to cope with the growing realization that I have no idea who I really am."
    I laughed quietly.
    Shay tensed. "Is that funny?"
I twisted my fingers through his hair. "No. It's just that to me, it sounds a little interesting. I've always known exactly who I am and what I would be."
He straightened and I released him from my arms though I remained crouched next to his chair.
"Do you wish you were something other then what you are?"
"No," I said quickly. "We are who we are. I have no desire to be something else. But right now I'm afraid of what it means for those who I care about." ~ within Chapter 16

Made the Grade: Positively Pregnant Series, Book 1

Format: Paperback | Pages: 238 | Release Date: June 2006 | Publisher: Silhouette Books

"Having Her Boss's Baby" [Positively Pregnant Series, Book 1] by Susan Mallery

My Book Summary : Coming into work, Dev doesn't expect to run into his Secretary's Assistant (who is also his late younger brother's girlfriend) or to find out that, she is pregnant! Trying to think of what he would have his brother do if he was still alive, Dev proposes that Noelle and him get married (as a marriage of convenience) for two years for her to get on her feet, have support while she's still in college, and then they'll go their separate ways. At first Noelle isn't sure way Dev has offered this since she knows she wouldn't keep Dev out of her child's life but she goes home to think it over. However, when she gets home to discuss the situation with her mom, she finds that she can't or if she did, she would add unneeded stress about additional bills for her family that she just doesn't want to include. Therefore, thinking she's taking the easy-way-out Noelle meets with Dev later that night and agrees to marry him.

For a while, everything's great between them they find that they get along really well and they turn into friends (for the most part). However, not long after they give into their romantic feelings for each other, Noelle admits to Dev that she's in love with him, and that's when he tries to back away from their relationship. He feels like they shouldn't have feelings for each other, especially Noelle having feelings for him, so he tries his best to stop it from happening. But when unsuspected surprises come along in more ways then one ... will they be able to pull through together? Or will what they have all fall apart?

My Book Review : 3 out of 5 stars! I liked that this book was a mixture of Christian and Romantic book! It wasn't more of it one way or another but a very good mixture of both! The main characters are great and I love Noelle's friends in her knitting group! So .. if your looking for a quick romance read then this is one book you should check out!!

    Book Teaser :
Instead of the conservatively dressed woman he'd seen last night, today his wife of less than a week wore a tank top and shorts. Her feet were bare, her hair piled up on top of her head in a ponytail and she was chewing gum. She was, he acknowledged wryly, a teenage boy's dream. Which meant he had no excuse for what he was feeling---he was old enough to know better.
Still, the information didn't seem to have any impact on the sudden rush of blood south or the desire to cross the room, pull her into his arms and kiss her senseless. He imagined her yielding and aroused, straining to get closer, reaching for him as they---
He forced the erotic images out of his mind. This was a marriage of practicality, he reminded himself. Nothing more. ~ within Chapter 6

Made the Grade: The Infernal Devices Series, Book 1

Format: Hardcover | Pages: 476 | Release Date: August 2010 | Publisher: Simon and Schuster

"Clockwork Angel" [The Infernal Devices Series, Book 1] by Cassandra Clare

My Book Summary : Tessa (Tess or Tessie) is on her way to London, from New York after her Aunt Harriet passed away, so she can live with her older brother. However, once she arrives her brother is no where to be seen, instead a bulging-eyed man and two unusually looking woman (sisters named Mrs. Dark and Mrs. Black) are there with a note from her brother saying to trust them and they'll bring her to him, and not long after Tessa finds that that is a mistake.

She has been with them for over six months now, told if she doesn't follow through with what they tell her to do then her brother would die. While being held captive, she learns things about herself that she has never known .... like she's not really a human, she is a Downworlder ... and the sisters that are holding her captive are forcing her to use her power, powers that she never knew she had and sometimes if feels like it kills her. Then one day the sisters tell her that they believe she is ready to meet the Magister (the leader of the sisters) as Tessa is his, and now she'll do anything to escape.

To Tessa's astonishment right after her hope to escape happens, a man (named Will) comes to her room to rescue her! Will is a Shadowhunter who has been keeping an eye on the sisters for a while now, that day he was secretly searching their "brothel" when he ran across Tessa, and now he tries to help her escape. Soon a fight brakes out in which Tessa gets injured and passes out.

When she comes to Tessa finds herself in an unknown place with people she doesn't know around her (one whom just by the look of him scares the hell out of her). Soon she finds out that she is staying at the Institute (the Shadowhunter's main building/home). Now she decides that she will help them as long as they help her find her missing brother. But during her time there, she'll find herself liking the Institute and the "people" in it more so everyday .... what will she do once this is all over? And will it ever BE over? Can she go back to her life before she learned that she's different or will she be forever changed? To top that all off ... will the Magister ever give up his quest to have her for himself??

My Book Review : 3.5 out of 5 stars! This story, being based in 1878, was sooo interesting to read how much things were different for them "back-in-the-day" compared to how the Shadowhunters and the Downworlders were living during the The Mortal Instruments Series. Plus ... the added bonus of trying to see whom is the ancestor of whom. This novel is everything that I could have hoped for ... and love triangle between Tessa and two great guys (and best friends) Will and Jem (James), along with mystery and then major plot twists at the end. And, so far, except for Tessa, everyone really isn't who they seem. I can't wait to see what will happen in the nest book called the "Clockwork Princess" coming out in 2012!!

    Author Book Trailer :

If you can't see/watch the above video then click here to watch it.

    Book Teaser(s) :
Gabriel shook his head. "You're a decent Shadowhunter, James," he said, "and a gentleman. You have your---disability, but no one blames you for that. But this---" He curled his lip, jabbing a finger in Will's direction. "This filth will only drag you down. Find someone else to be your parabatai. No one expects Will Herondale to live past nineteen, and no one will be sorry to see him go, either---"
That was too much for Tessa. Without thinking about it she burst out indignantly, "What a thing to say!"
Gabriel, interrupted midrant, looked as shocked as if one of the tapestries had suddenly started talking. "Pardon me?"
"You heard me. Telling someone you wouldn't be sorry if they died! It's inexcusable!" She took hold of Will by the sleeve. "Come along, Will. This---this person---obviously isn't worth wasting your time on." ~ within Chapter 9
