My Book Review : 3.5 out of 5 stars! This is a reread for me because this novel I had read in November of 2019 and before I had posted my official review/rating, I had lost it (find out the whole story on my blog). Therefore, this novel was chosen as a reread because I did remember enjoying it before, didn’t remember all of the plotline – which made it, so I got to enjoy it more, and I was in the mood for a paranormal polyamorous romance to read.

What I found was this novel held up all my expectations, except for the end. Though I cannot say I loved this novel the whole way through, I did thoroughly

My Book Review : 3 out of 5 stars!! This is the FINAL novel from Ms. Ryan’s Dante's Circle Series. Here we follow Eliana and Malik as they come to terms with their future, find out more about Eliana’s true self, and take on the reins of parenthood while Malik takes on his new role of leader of his pride. However, not everyone is in favor of Malik ruling over them and will stop at nothing to take him down. What will Eliana have to do to keep her new family together forever? Will the sacrifice be worth it?

This novel was very cute! Yet, while I appreciated the updates that happened for all of Eliana’s friends/family at the beginning and end of this novel, I found the first 30% of this novel hard to read through. I found it difficult mostly because, while I liked Eliana and Malik together as a couple, they come back together in a rushed and kind of unrealistic way. It was hard to appreciate their struggle and joining, as I would have liked. Though once mated I found the plot to become more fast-paced and entertaining.

Together their attraction and chemistry are undeniable. What threw me off in the beginning with Malik was just as Eliana states in Chapter 3 ::

The king of the freaking jungle was an asshole.

Nevertheless, once they overcome that, they become a powerfully protective duo that will do whatever it takes to keep their family together. I loved the scenes based around their child. So heartwarming!

I HIGHLY recommend this novel and series to those who are fans of Ms. Ryan and/or looking for a unique paranormal romance!

My Book Review : 2 out of 5 stars. All of Caroline’s life she believed that her “step-father” turned her into a bear shifter when she was little and over the years, he drilled into her the fact that she NEEDS to mate with an alpha-male-bear-shifter to keep the bloodline pure. Now her parents are divorced and her “step-father” off to who-knows-where Caroline decides to start her life over in Atlanta, Georgia. Yet, not long after she starts her new job Zane, a hot tiger shifter, comes into her life claiming that he’s her mate and there to save her. Will Caroline decide to go against everything she’s been raised to believe or follow the path she’s always been on no matter the costs?

I’m trying to review this novella critically but it’s hard, mostly because this novella being written in a third person narrative that I am not a fan of reading. Plus, it was hard to read about a shifter (i.e. Caroline) who doesn’t trust their instincts and instead follows blindly along what they’ve been taught even though all the evidence points that to do so is a bad decision. Therefore I had to rate this novella the 2 out of 5 stars that I did. The two saving graces to this novella was Zane and the plot! I really enjoyed this novella’s backstory. And Zane. *happy sigh* I could not get enough of that man! =0)

NEVERTHELESS, I DO recommend this novella to those looking for a unique shifter romance.

My Book Summary : Tessa (Tess or Tessie) is on her way to London, from New York after her Aunt Harriet passed away, so she can live with her older brother. However, once she arrives her brother is no where to be seen, instead a bulging-eyed man and two unusually looking woman (sisters named Mrs. Dark and Mrs. Black) are there with a note from her brother saying to trust them and they'll bring her to him, and not long after Tessa finds that that is a mistake.

She has been with them for over six months now, told if she doesn't follow through with what they tell her to do then her brother would die. While being held captive, she learns things about herself that she has never known .... like she's not really a human, she is a Downworlder ... and the sisters that are holding her captive are forcing her to use her power, powers that she never knew she had and sometimes if feels like it kills her. Then one day the sisters tell her that they believe she is ready to meet the Magister (the leader of the sisters) as Tessa is his, and now she'll do anything to escape.

To Tessa's astonishment right after her hope to escape happens, a man (named Will) comes to her room to rescue her! Will is a Shadowhunter who has been keeping an eye on the sisters for a while now, that day he was secretly searching their "brothel" when he ran across Tessa, and now he tries to help her escape. Soon a fight brakes out in which Tessa gets injured and passes out.

When she comes to Tessa finds herself in an unknown place with people she doesn't know around her (one whom just by the look of him scares the hell out of her). Soon she finds out that she is staying at the Institute (the Shadowhunter's main building/home). Now she decides that she will help them as long as they help her find her missing brother. But during her time there, she'll find herself liking the Institute and the "people" in it more so everyday .... what will she do once this is all over? And will it ever BE over? Can she go back to her life before she learned that she's different or will she be forever changed? To top that all off ... will the Magister ever give up his quest to have her for himself??

My Book Review : 3.5 out of 5 stars! This story, being based in 1878, was sooo interesting to read how much things were different for them "back-in-the-day" compared to how the Shadowhunters and the Downworlders were living during the The Mortal Instruments Series. Plus ... the added bonus of trying to see whom is the ancestor of whom. This novel is everything that I could have hoped for ... and love triangle between Tessa and two great guys (and best friends) Will and Jem (James), along with mystery and then major plot twists at the end. And, so far, except for Tessa, everyone really isn't who they seem. I can't wait to see what will happen in the nest book called the "Clockwork Princess" coming out in 2012!!

"Alexandra's Legacy" [Legacy Series, Book 1] by N. J. Walters

My Book Summary : Alexandra (Alex) thought that today would be just an ordinary day for her, until a man named Joshua rushes into her father's garage saying he's come to take her to a place called Wolf Creek, and she finds that there are some things about her heritage that her father has been keeping quite about. Now Alex's father explains to her that he is actually a werewolf, making her a half-breed and what she's been feeling lately is her going into "heat" soon. Then to top it off because of her going into heat all of the single male wolves within a 100 radius (or more) start tracking her fighting for the right to be her mate, and then there are some people/wolves who are coming after her just because she's a half-breed and don't think she should exist.

Of course after this was all explained to her, they (her father, Joshua, and her) get ambushed in her dad's home by those very people/wolves that are either out to kidnap or kill her. So, they split up in hopes of out running the killers, her father going one way while Joshua and her are going another but both planning on heading to the Wolf Creek pack in North Carolina. While on the run Joshua and Alex have a growing attraction between them, but Joshua plans on trying to keep that attraction at bay until he reaches his pack so he'll be able to publicly claim her as his mate.

Will all three of them make it safely to Wolf Creek before their enemies get them? Will Alex be accepted into the Wolf Creek pack warmly and will she want to embrace her wolf?

My Book Review : 4 out of 5 stars!! I saw this book recommended to me on Amazon for a while, and I'm soo happy that I finally decided to read it!! It was an entertaining & sweet book! I loved the relationships between Alex & her father, as well as the growing relationship between Alex & Joshua! Plus, I really liked the since of community that James (Alex's dad) found he had when everything/everyone started coming at them ... it was truly heartwarming. Then add in a little heat between Alex & Joshua to read about and you got one happy reader on your hands. =0)

My Book Summary : Jonas just got a new personal assistant, named Rachel. She a hardworking, determined, redhead, and at first glance he knows that she is pregnant with another man's baby. Also, just by looking at her, Jonas knows she's his mate. However, with him being "created" instead of being "born" there are reasons involved with that where he will never claim her as his mate.

But how much can he hold off on claiming her as his mate? Especially when her and her daughter become targets because of just being associated with him. So, he brings them back to Sanctuary so he can protect them better, while dealing the mating heat that starts to burn within him to have him claim her. How much longer will he last?

My Book Review : 2.5 out of 5 stars, it was okay. I mean it's not the typical shifter books that I have read, so yes it was interesting but it didn't completely hold my interest. However, I think what I didn't like most about the book was Rachel. I mean I liked her and Jonas together. BUT -- for all of Rachel's knowledge of the shifter breeds and knowing that she was working for them before she even knew that she was Jonas' mate .... she kept denying the "claim" between herself and Jonas for sooo long that I really was getting sick of it after a while. =0/

Side Note :: Just so you know this is the first novel in this series that I've read SO -- if you've liked the other books in this series ... this one might not be your favorite ... but I think you'll like it better then I did.

"Low Red Moon" by Ivy Devlin (I read this as a part of Smitten With Books ARC Tours)

My Book Summary : Avery has spent most of her life living in the woods. Her parents have a piece of land with a house that was built one room at a time, everything is just so quaint and peaceful that she never had any regrets about the way she grew up. But now her life has suddenly changed because of her parent’s murder. She was there during the murder but all she can remember was seeing silver and blood. Lots and lots of blood.

She moves into her grandmother's house, a woman who she doesn't know that well anymore, and tries to understand what had happened in her life and to her parents. Not long after her parents died a new boy, named Ben, starts at her high school. He is gorgeous, but he would never be interested in her. Then on different occasions, she watches his eyes changing from brown to silver, and she doesn't know how to explain it. And even though they might not realize it from the first time he sets his eyes on her a connection between them occurs.

With that connection, they get closer, and when they do, she finds out what he really is. Will she be scared of him now, and keep away from him? Especially when more murders occur and he might be connected ...

My Book Review : 3 out of 5 stars! This is an unusual take on the "Little Red Riding Hood" story we all grew up with, where the bad guy definitely isn't who you think. Creative, dark, and romantic are some of the words I'd use to describe this book. In truth, I didn't like the book during the first few chapters because of how dark it was and I'm not one to like all that goriness ... but that's just me. So ... if you like a good mystery novel then I'd recommend this book for you!
