2018 100+ Reading Challenge
Check out my previous challenges :
Alrighty ... here's my personal challenge .. or more of a record of how many books I have read in 2018. And I am already starting off poorly because of life things but oh wells. *hahaa* Anyway ... here we go:
So ... with this book list from book number 7 to number 57 I had a computer malfunction and lost all of my ORIGINAL 2018 book reviews. And I REALLY feel bad about this so I have plans to reread a majority of these novels because of this so you might see those novels mentioned multiple times on this blog or within this website/blog's book index. CLICK HERE to find out more about this catastrophe.
* If you would like to know what I think about the books I didn't share my ratings or reviews with you about, than leave a comment about which one you want info on and I'll get back to you as soon as I can.

Idolizing In: Chronicles of the Malcolm Series, Book 2
"Bad Kitty" [Chronicles of the Malcolm Series, Book 2] by Teresa Noelle Roberts (aka Sophie Mouette)
Author's Book Description : When you make the Devil’s bargain, be prepared to take the heat. A lot of heat.
Most of Xia’s early memories are repressed, thank the Great Cat Mother. But her body remembers how to kill.
The longer she and her fellow Malcolm crewmates are holed up on Cibari hiding from assassins, the twitchier she gets—until the planet’s insanely sexy warlord, Rahal Mizyar, borrows her skills to take out slavers.
Rahal suspects Xia is his mate, but the human-raised female never learned the finer points of felinoid rituals. The solution: make her fall hard and fast for him, even if it means playing dirty.
Hired to determine if Xia is the long-missing granddaughter of the felinoid prime minister, Cal Janssen has finally tracked her down. Getting past Rahal, though, is a problem—until he’s mistaken for a notorious arms dealer and playboy. And he finds himself the object of both Rahal’s and Xia’s seduction.
When their first mission brings Xia’s memories bulleting back to the surface, she realizes she’s fallen for two men who don’t exist. Running away, however, could be her deadliest mistake.
Warning: Contains an assassin with a swiss cheese memory, a badass warlord who’s getting tired of his own con, and a freelance lawman. Secrets, lies, and hot sex with no rules.
My Book Review : 5 out of 5 stars! On the run from a few assassins, Xia and her Malcolm crew “family” take refuge on a crime-ridden planet with its warlord Rahal. While Xia’s instant attraction to Rahal is undeniable, what really surprises her is their chemistry and how she is willing to do spend more than one night with him. Yet it’s not only Rahal that has stolen her attention, an arms dealer called Karn “the Viking” Anders has too.
Karn’s actual name is Cal and whose job is private law enforcement is going after Xia because of a job to reunite her with her relatives. However, as Cal gets more involved with Xia and Rahal he comes to realize that he can’t fulfill his contract but even so how will he be able to tell the truth to the two people who are starting to mean more to him than anything or anyone else?
As the three of them deal with their unexpected relationship and the threats against them, they find that they’ll need to overcome the lies that unintentionally brought them together. Or will everything fall apart on them?
This novel is Soo FUN … it would be hot and erotic one minute than have me laughing at Xia, Cal, & Rahal’s quirky antics the next. A thrilling read in more than one ways, I didn’t want to stop reading about this wonderful character match up! Plus, I found that even though I hadn’t read any other novels in this series it was still standalone enough that I never felt lost.
I found myself enamored with Xia, Rahal, & Cal as a couple. They are all badass in their own ways and I loved how Xia’s men brought her through her past healing her in the process. Silly, spontaneous, crazy in some instances, but with secret tender sides, all three are so perfect for one another that I was rooting for them from the beginning. Then with the way they “worked” through their issues at the end of this novel, it just made me like them even more.
I highly recommend this novel to those looking for a quirky and steamy erotic dramedy!!
-- On a side note --
This novel reminded me of a fun mix of Cheryl Brooks' The Cat Star Chronicles Series & Nina Croft's "Blood and Metal."

My Q&A with Cheryl Brooks :
Jess : What books did you enjoy reading while growing up?
Cheryl : I read a lot as a kid, mostly Nancy Drew and Trixie Belden books. I also loved reading any kind of horse story and anything by Mary Stewart and Georgette Heyer that I could get my hands on. I credit Mary Stewart for my affinity for writing in first person.
Jess : Please describe Wyatt from "Must Love Cowboys" in 1-2 sentences.
Cheryl : Wyatt McCabe is one of those tortured alpha heroes that have such a strong appeal for romance readers. His past keeps him from letting himself get close to anyone for fear of losing them, but his attraction to Tina is such that he can’t deny it.
Jess : Are there any differences and/or similarities between Tina from "Must Love Cowboys" and Lauren from your novella "Cowboy Delight?"
Cheryl : Obviously, they’re both single women, but there are probably more differences between the two than there are similarities. Lauren had never felt the spark of attraction for a man, and Tina had been too shy and nervous to act on it when she did. Tina has never considered herself to be very attractive, whereas most of Lauren’s problems stemmed from being too attractive.
Jess : What sparked the idea for "Must Love Cowboys?"
Cheryl : I have a friend who loves firefighters, and even though I was writing a series about cowboys, I saw my chance to at least make one of the heroes a former firefighter. Wyatt’s character developed out of an idea about his past and why he gave up firefighting to become a cowboy. When I pitched the idea of his character to one of my RWA chapter’s speakers, her response was that his perfect match would have to be Amish or someone equally pure, and Tina’s character developed out of that suggestion.
Jess : What is the funniest thing one of your characters in "Must Love Cowboys" said or did?
Cheryl : That would be telling! Besides, I don’t know for sure, but it was probably something Bull or Dean did. They were both great fun to write.
Jess : If you could write "Must Love Cowboys" all over again, would you change anything about it?
Cheryl : Not really. It was originally written as an erotic romance, so I’ve already changed it to fit the current genre. If you’ve read the book, I think you can guess who Tina’s other sexual partner was.
Jess : Out of all the secondary characters in "Must Love Cowboys," do you have one or two favorites? If so, who are they and why?
Cheryl : I loved writing all of them, but Bull Russell and Nick Reno were the most fun. Anytime I get the opportunity, I throw in at least one outrageous character, and in this series, Bull is that character. If you know your Georgette Heyer novels, you’ll understand where that idea came from. Nick was also a fun character. He didn’t have much of a filter on his speech, but his personality is endearing enough that you don’t care when he speaks his mind. Dean is another favorite of mine. He—oh, who am I kidding? I love them all!
Jess : Which is your favorite book that you’ve written and why?
Cheryl : The book I’m currently writing is usually my favorite, although I still have a soft spot for "Rebel," book ten of the Cat Star Chronicles. Onca was one of those outspoken, outrageous heroes, and I love him to pieces!
Jess : Do you have any other projects in the works?
Cheryl : I’m working on a contemporary paranormal romantic suspense trilogy, which is taking forever because of all the research that writing it has required. I’ve finished the first two books and as soon as this blog tour is over, I’ll start on the third. No telling when or how the series will be published. After that, I plan to write a “second generation” Cat Star book.
Jess : YAY!! About the possibility of another Cat Star Series!! *BIG SMILES OVER HERE* Thank you for joining me!! =0)

- Jasmine (Jas) & Sarge [from "Crashed Out" [MADE IN JERSEY Series, Book 1] by Tessa Bailey]: Jasmine might be seven years older than Sarge but that doesn't stop their chemistry from igniting and quickly bringing their relationship into something more than remembered friendship. ♥
- Olivia & Gabriel [from "Royal Heirs Required" [Billionaires and Babies Series & Sherdana Royalty Series, Book 1] by Cat Schield]: I enjoyed how their relationship turned into something neither wanted to let go of, it made it all very charming. I couldn’t get enough!
- Delta & Cooper [from "Texas Mail Order Bride" [Bachelors of Battle Creek Series, Book 1] by Linda Broday]: I liked seeing Cooper & Delta together and watching them deal with their attraction. It was very sweet.
- Edwina (Ed) & Justin (Jus) [from "The Hero" [Hot Aussie Heroes Series, Book 2] by Amy Andrews]: Justin's relationship with Edwina is combustible from the very beginning; and as the novel progresses, it makes you want to root for them even more.
