  • "The Reckoning" [Darkest Powers, Book 3] by Kelley Armstrong
Publication Released Date: April 6, 2010

    Book Description:
My name is Chloe Saunders. I'm fifteen, and I would love to be normal.

But normal is one thing I'm not.

For one thing, I'm having these feelings for a certain antisocial werewolf and his sweet-tempered brother—who just happens to be a sorcerer—but, between you and me, I'm leaning toward the werewolf.

      Not normal.

My friends and I are also on the run from an evil corporation that wants to get rid of us—permanently.

      Definitely not normal.

And finally, I'm a genetically altered necro-mancer who can raise the dead, rotting corpses and all, without even trying.

As far away from normal as it gets.

I cannot wait!! The first two books were nothing like I expected but I couldn't put them down once I started in reading them!

"Perfect Strangers" by Jahnna N. Malcolm [aka Jahnna Beecham and Malcolm Hillgartner] -- Getting picked on in high school is never easy but having a humiliating event happen to you in front of the entire high school student body can be a catastrophe for any freshman. Madison had such an event happen to her during her freshman year Homecoming celebrations, and has been holding a grudge against Jeremy (the boy who put the catastrophe in motion) ever since.

Now almost three years later at the end of their junior years to major events are happening. One event being the school is starting a “pen pal” program. The program is set up so the students have been randomly matched with someone in their own grade so they might be able to share their inner most thoughts without reveling their identities to the other person. In a way the program make is so if anyone is having issues with something they’ll have someone who they can vent to who won’t be able to gossip about it to anyone else. With the program Madison is definitely reveling who she would truly like to be to her “pen pal”, more so then she has even told her friends, and is finding that they have more in common then she would have thought.

The second event is the election for Class Presidency is starting up, which is something that Madison has been wanting to win since her freshman year. The only problem is her enemy, Jeremy, is one of the people she is running up against. She hasn’t spoken to him or been around him since that time at the Homecoming Game and she doesn’t want to, but now there is no way to avoid it.

As the election heats up and Madison’s “pen pal” letters start heating up too. Will her “pen pal” finally be reveled? Will she win the class presidency? Dive into "Perfect Strangers" to find out all the juicy details!

4.5 out of 5 stars! It is a sweet YA book. For the short length of the book the characters are really well written and come together nicely! The book reminds me of Megan McCafferty’s Jessica Darling series, since you have the same type of main characters (the straight-laced girl and the slightly eccentric handsome guy) only with a shorter more straight-to-the-point plot.

I run my life, Or is it running me, Run from my past, I run too fast, Or too slow it seems...

The Immortals Series by Alyson Noël

    Pages: 320 | Release Date: February 2009

"evermore" [Immortals Series, Book 1] by Alyson Noël -- Ever has recently lost her parents, younger sister, and dog to a terrible car accident which she survived. Yet now she has the ability to hear the thoughts of those around her, except those of Damen the cute new boy in school, who seems to have some interesting abilities of his own, among them he's able to create tulips out of thin air. But as Damen gets closer to Ever someone from Damen's past would like nothing better then to rip them apart for good.

3 out of 5 stars. I read this because it was a Amazon.com recommendation for the other books I was reading at the time. And I liked it ... even though I think it could have been better.

    Pages: 304 | Release Date: July 2009

"blue moon" [Immortals Series, Book 2] by Alyson Noël -- Ever is now learning everything she can in becoming an immortal like Damen. However, as her powers start getting stronger, his own powers are weakening and he starts distancing himself from her. Now the only way she can save him is by going to Summerland and seeing if there is anything to help him. But once she gets there will she choose to still be help save Damen or will she try to rewrite her past and try saving her family instead?

2.5 out of 5 stars. It was an okay sequel ... but I really hated the ending!!

    Pages: 368 | Release Date: November 2009

"shadowland" [Immortals Series, Book 3] by Alyson Noël -- This description is taken from Alyson's website since I couldn't even finish the book: Ever and Damen have traveled through countless past lives—and fought off the world's darkest enemies—so they could be together forever. But just as their long-awaited destiny is finally within reach, a powerful curse falls upon Damen...one that could destroy everything. Now a single touch of their hands or a soft brush of their lips could mean sudden death—plunging Damen into a bleak afterlife in the Shadowland, an eternal abyss for lost souls. Desperate to break the curse and save Damen, Ever immerses herself in magick—and gets help from an unexpected source...Jude Knight.

Although she and Jude have only just met, he feels startlingly familiar. Despite her fierce loyalty to Damen, Ever is drawn to Jude, a green-eyed golden boy with magical talents and a mysterious past. She's always believed Damen to be her soul mate and one true love—and she still believes it to be true. But as Damen pulls away to save them from the darkness inhabiting his soul, Ever's connection with Jude grows stronger—and tests her love for Damen like never before...

1 out of 5 stars. OK I'll admit it ... I tried to read this book but I just couldn't get past the first two chapters. =0P So I gave up ... especially after I've read other reviews saying stuff like Amazon.com's A. Jackson who said, "Again, like at the end of the second book, I felt this book went nowhere. Ever and Damen's relationship has not progressed one bit since the end of the first book." So ... as I said I gave up, it just couldn't keep my interest and if they aren't going to move forward in the plot then I think it's a waste of a book.

I think I might be finished with this series unless the next book is drastically better. *shrug* Have you read this series? If so, what did you think of it?

Check your local bookstores since you may or may not be able to get Elizabeth Scott's new book right now.

I say this because ..... I have pre-ordered Elizabeth Scott's latest book called "The Unwritten Rule" last week (since Elizabeth along with everyone else said it would be released on March 16th) ... so I went into my local bookstore today to pick it up (along with another book that just came out) and they told me that the release date isn't until April 6th or at least they aren't able to sell it to me until then. =0/ So, if you have yet to pick up your copy then I recommend you calling your local bookstore to see when they'll be getting it in.

I mean, at least I'm getting the book at some point so I'm not upset about the situation at all but it kinda stinks all the same. =0P

Anyway ... if you have it already ... you lucky dog you. *hehee*

I loved Dayan & Corinne as a couple! They were soo cute! Great plot! I liked how the writing flowed from one persons thoughts to the next like you were watching a movie - very clever!

He has to be with his family history of living in and out of the slammer, so he knows what it takes to stay on that straight and narrow path. And one of those is staying away from Poppy. Jase believes her to be a rich girl who really doesn't do a lot with her life. But in reality Poppy grew up in a hippie commune and does more for underprivileged teenagers then she does for herself. When a group of teens tag the buildings of the businesses that Poppy works for, she asks that instead of sending the teens to juvie have them fix up the buildings by painting them again and creating a mural in a group that she'll monitor. Now that it's been approved and Detective Jase is told to keep tabs on the group too, how long will they be able to stay apart for?

1.5 out of 5 stars! Good plot! I liked some of the characters. However .... I was so bored with it I couldn't finish the book ... I ended it on page 224. The novel had to many subplots that it makes it overly slow. Then when I put the book down for the night or whatever it could take a full day or so just for me to get back to it again ... and that was only because I was forcing myself to try to finish it.

You might have better luck and actually like the book ... but it definitely was not the book for me.
