Baby, I don't understand. Just why we can't be lovers. Things are getting out of hand. Tryin' to much, but baby we can win.
Pages: 210 | Release Date: March/April 2010 "The Unwritten Rule" by Elizabeth Scott -- Everyone knows the unwritten rule: You don’t like your best friend’s boyfriend. So, this is what happens when you do...
Sarah has liked Ryan since 8th grade, but even though she told her best friend Brianna during that time, her friend never really believed her. Now at seventeen she still likes him, but she’s to shy to do anything about it. So, when Brianna and her attend an end-of-the-summer party she’s blown away by how much cuter Ryan has become over the summer. The only problem is Sarah isn’t the only one who notices, and by the end of the party, Brianna is all over Ryan. Then starts a series of miscommunications that end up with Brianna and Ryan together and Sarah left as the third wheel.
Almost two months she has put up with them kissing in front of her and doing all of the boyfriend/girlfriend things around her, yet Sarah has taken it in stride. But one night when Ryan drops her off at her house from a party alone, Sarah realizes that they have more in common then she expected, and that moment becomes wonderful and awful all at the same time. How can she do something like that to her best friend? Then life comes into play and Sarah finds that no matter how hard she tries to do the right thing someone is going to get hurt. The question is she will to sacrifice her dearest friend for the possibility of love? Or will she give up her happiness for her best friend?
4 out of 5 stars! This novel keeps your attention the whole way through. Definitely shows a side of girl friendships that you rarely see. Since we always read or watch in movies these girls who have it all with their little sidekick best friend, but you don't always hear about the best friend's version of what goes on between them or why she really puts up with what she does, and I think this book beautifully displays it.
However, I will admit that from the middle of the book on I was deeply pissed off at Brianna, and would have loved to bitch slap her myself. *hahaa* Especially since I have a hunch that Brianna new all along about Sarah's interests in Ryan, which is why she did what she did. But I could be wrong.
Sidenote :: I LOVED THE ENDING!!! It was sooo good!!

So let's find a way to bring back the days when our hearts were forever young
Everyone is searching for their own happily-ever-after whether they believe so or not .... "Casting Spells" by Barbara Bretton ... characters are just doing the same. However, Chloe is a half-human half-sorcerer who hasn't fallen into her powers at all ... but has a town who is in need of her guidance. As the town has been protected for over 300 years from outsiders prying eyes is finally falling into their own cracks and everyone is hoping she will make it all better. But when an outsider dies in their town .... a cop moves in to find out if it was an accident or a murder??? Will Chloe be able to get him out town without anything being noticeable?? Or will he find out more then he's supposed to?4 out of 5 stars. The story was written in a diary kinda form from both Luke and Chloe's sides. It kept me rapt in what was going on and I couldn't put it down!

Feasted On: Victoria and the Rogue by Meg Cabot
Format: Paperback | Pages: 241 | Release Date: December 2004 | Publisher: Avon Books"Victoria and the Rogue" by Meg Cabot
My Book Summary : Victoria has grown up with her three bachelor uncles in India ever since her parents died when she was very little. But now since she is sixteen they have shipped her off to live with her other aunt & uncle in England, and to find herself a husband. And even though her uncles made a wager as to how long it would take her to get a man to propose to her, she proves them all wrong by accepting a proposal while on the ship taking her to England!
Hugo is handsome and says the sweetest things to her ... and it doesn't hurt that he is a work-in-progress and needs her helping hand (and money) every once in a while (or more). But as she soon realizes that all might now be as it seems when it comes to her husband-to-be or his family. Especially since for a family who is on the decline (money wise), they surely do spend enough of it. Plus, it doesn't help that Captain Jacob Carstairs keeps telling her that Hugo is a rogue!!! Which just can't be! The Captain doesn't help any by always seeming to be around the corner or annoying Victoria by doing all sorts of things (especially when he calls her Miss Bee -- for being such a busy body). *sigh* What is a girl to do?
And then ..... maybe is this one situation where Victoria has it all wrong?
My Book Review : 4 out of 5 stars! CUTE & FUNNY to the extreme! Victoria and the Captain are so cute with their arguments. And I love how this is written like a first person passage but it goes into details that make it feel like the childhood stories I grew up with (but it's definitely a young adult book).
My Previous Review(s) for this Author : Avalon High | Ready or Not
Book Teaser(s) :
Becky cast her cousin a disparaging look over one slim shoulder. She had been, ever since learning of her mother's acceptance of Captain Carstair's invitation to dine, coolly indifferent about the situation. But that, Victoria was quite certain, was all an act.
Or so Victoria had thought, until her cousin's next words hit her like a slap in the face.
"If you ask me, Vicky," Rebecca said in a very sour voice, "you're the one who seems to have a problem dining at Captain Carstairs's table this evening. For I certainly don't care. My affections belong entirely to another now." ~ within Chapter 8

Feasted On: Falling for Romeo by Jennifer Laurens
Format: Paperback | Pages: 197 | Release Date: Second Edition - 2009 | Publisher: Grove Creek Publishing"Falling for Romeo" by Jennifer Laurens
My Book Summary : Jennifer and John grew up together. Their parents are friends. Also, they are next-door neighbors with bedroom windows parallel to each other. So, it would be hard not to become friends as well. And they were up until three years ago, which is when they both seemed to drift apart from each other.
Now they are in their senior year of high school, working together as Romeo & Juliet in their school’s play, and finding out who they have become since then.
It’s not like they haven’t talked in school. Oh no, they’ve talked. Mostly during English class when they are debating whatever that day’s discussion topic is, they get into very specific arguments because of them, but they don’t really talk any more than that.
Since they were friends, John has become Mr. Popular. He has hordes of girls wanting to be his girlfriend and just people wanting to follow whatever he says. While Jennifer isn’t quite the social butterfly, but she’s pretty, sweet, and has friends who are on the popular side of the social scene. However, she is mostly involved in the theater productions at her school (has been since middle school) and loves it.
Therefore, when their school’s performance came up Jennifer definitely planned on being involved, but for John, he auditioned just so he could get close to Jennifer again. =0)
Things are okay between them for a while, until the rehearsal kissing scenes start up. Which is where they both realize (and kind of deny to themselves) their feelings for one another. But with each one not brave enough to set aside their own pride to admit their feelings, they have a hard time believing if the chemistry they have on stage is real or is it faked?
Will they be able to find out before the play is over and their lives go in different directions again?
My Book Review : 4 out of 5 stars!!! I LOVED the chemistry between Jen & John!! Plus, finding out how close they were growing up it is kind of surprising they ever stopped being friends, but it does happen. You will be routing for them the whole way! I couldn't put it down. Great Book!!
Book Teaser(s) :
"What?" he demanded.
She echoed him, "What?"
"What!"
"I can't believe you did that---in front of all those people!"
"What makes that any different than what you just did with Alex in front of all those people?"
"He kissed me, for your information!"
"I saw it!"
"Then do you need your eyes examined? He kissed me." ~ within Chapter 9

How sweet it is ....

but often we look so long at the closed door that
we do not see the one which has been opened for us." - Helen Keller
Heartache, friendship, forgiveness .... are just some words to describe this touching story called "How Sweet It Is" by Alice Wisler. I'm giving it 4 out of 5 stars ... definitely living up to it's name! It's about Deena whom is living in Atlanta, GA and moves into her grandfather's cabin in Bryson City, North Carolina after her life crashes (literally). And the best way to turn her life around for the better is by moving.
Once she gets to the town she meets a town of characters from -- a Dr. Seuss-quoting plumber named Jonas (my favorite character in this book), to her crazy aunt Regena Lorraine, to a group of misfit middle school students, and more ... with the cherry on top being a hot social worker named Zack who usually seems to know the perfect thing to say to her.
I really think everyone should read this ... it's a great book of redemption. To find more about this book check out Alice Wisler's website.

Happy 25th Birthday to me today!! =0)

Format: Kindle Edition | File Size: 643 KB | Release Date: April 1, 2013 | Publisher: Love Inspired Suspense"Hide in Plain Sight" [The Three Sisters Inn Series, Book 1] by Marta Perry
My Book Summary : Financial expert Andrea is rushing home to Churchville, PA (also known as Amish Country), to help her family and their inn they are trying to start up. She has been against the idea of the inn from the beginning, but with her younger sisters recent hit-and-run accident she has to help out, and being the oldest sister that means she needs to take charge.
However, once she gets there she finds her grandmother loves having her there, wants her to help with the inn as much as she can, but doesn't want Andrea to help with their financial struggles. In addition, she finds out that some people in the community really don't want the inn to be operational and might try to have it so the inn never opens at all costs.
To top it all off Andrea meets Cal, her grandmother's tenant, who is living and works in the renovated barn behind the inn and he's keeping his own secrets....
My Book Review : 3 out of 5 stars! I wasn't expecting to like this book when I started reading it but I was pleasantly surprised! The plot was very well written. Good characters.
Book Teaser :
"There's someone, a man, out on the east side of the house."
"Andrea?" His voice sharpened. "Are you sure?"
"The lightening makes it as bright as day. He's there, watching the house. We didn't put lights---"
They hadn't thought they needed to where there were no outbuildings to be broken into. Maybe the intruder's goal wasn't the outbuildings. Maybe it was the house itself. ~ within Chapter 6

When you find yourself ...
Who knew I would like Amish stories? I certainly didn't, or didn't realize that I would enjoy them as much as I did. But I guess when you look at it if it is a really good romance story and the plot really catches your interest then anything is possible. =0) And that's what I found with "Hidden" (part of the Sisters of the Heart series) by Shelley Shepard Gray. This is the first story in the Sisters of the Heart series. I'm not sure if I'll read the others anytime soon, but after reading the first chapter the book held my interest and I couldn't put it down. It's an easy read (under 300 pages) about Anna, a woman who really has no direction in life and finds herself in an abusive relationship. After trying to talk to her family and police about her situation, and everyone not believing her, she turns to the last people she can think of her friend Katie's family who are apart of the Amish community in Pennsylvania. They take her in, and she earns her keep while hiding from her abuser and everyone she knows as she thinks her loved ones who inform him of her location. While doing so she grows as a person, gains a special relationship/friendship, and feels happier then she has in a long time. But what will she be able to go back to the life she just left??
It was a very good story ... if you don't mind it being full of detail yet short ... I give it 5 out of 5 stars. I'm not sure if I'll read the other stories in the series but you never know, since I did love the main characters in this book.
To find out more about this book, series, or other of her books ... then check out Shelley Shepard Gray's website.
