... come feel this magic i've been feeling since i met you ...

I'm not sure if this happens to every girl ... but the lucky ones (like me) get to grow up with guys who aren't related to her and yet are like family. That's how it is for Belly in "The Summer I Turned Pretty" by Jenny Han.

This 15 yr old lives her life for the summers she spends at a beach house with her mom, brother, and her mothers best friend with her sons. Growing up she has always been the youngest in the pack and the only girl. Over the years she has tried to be included and the summer that she turns sweet 16 things finally change, especially when everyone realizes that she has grown up and isn't a little girl anymore.

When you always grown up thinking you were the ugly duckling ... and now your not ... how can you get everyone else to see it too?

Belly is a great character ... brave in her own way ... loving to those around her ... and never gives up.

I give it 3 out of 5 stars. To find out more about this book or other books by Jenny Han check out her website.

Feasted On: Honey Moon by Susan Elizabeth Phillips

Format: Paperback | Pages: 440 | Release Date: June 1993 | Publisher: Pocket Books

"Honey Moon" by Susan Elizabeth Phillips

My Book Summary : This is about Honey, the two man that loved her and how she loved them back...
  • Honey :
    • At six years old her mother kills herself leaving Honey to live with her aunt Sophie, her uncle Earl, and her cousin Chantal, a family who doesn't respect her and uses her to no end. The only good thing that came out of it was that it made her tough, since she was always looking little and years younger then her actual age, she learned to always take things on with your fists swinging and you usually will be able to make whatever you want happen.

That characteristic of hers helps since after her uncle passes away, at 15 or 16-years-old, she is left in charge of the amusement park that her family owns and lives at. However, when you still look young for your age, it's hard to have anyone take her seriously. Therefore, when times get tough on her family and the state shuts down the amusement park, Honey signs up her cousin for a beauty pageant where the grand prize is an audition in LA for a new show that is planning to air soon. As luck would have it, Chantal wins but shortly the grand prize changes and Honey does everything she can to not see there future go up in smoke, so she finds an old truck and drives her cousin across the country so she can audition.

Once they get there the audition people find Chantal very pretty but not right for the part, but Honey captures the eye of the main star Dash Coogan who does everything in his power to have her play his daughter for the TV show. And over night, her life completely changes ...
  • Dash Coogan :
    • He is in his early 40's and a big-time Hollywood star (or should I say cowboy) with money troubles in the form of the IRS. So, to pay it off he agrees to make and be apart of The Dash Coogan Show even though it's against his better judgment. During the auditions he tells the producer to change the script so that Honey can play his daughter since she fits in a lot better then any of the other girls they were looking at.

Once the filming starts, however he goes from being nice to Honey to completely trying to avoid her. He has problems with having people get to close, which is why he admits that he has 3 ex-wives and children that he has never raised. However, Honey just wants a family and looking for one in all of the wrong places, like trying to get him to be her role model or her substitute father.

Therefore, when Honey starts getting out-of-hand on set a co-worker of theirs gets him to step-in and take control of the situation. Once he does, his life will never be the same...
  • Eric Dillon :
    • He's the bad boy co-star on the The Dash Coogan Show, and the crush of Honey's right off the bat. But Eric has a past that always seems to stop him from not being able to live his life, especially when he believes that anyone he considers an innocent will ultimately get hurt if he has anything to do with him. This goes on throughout his life, making him walk away from anything good or not really seeing the things/people who care about him. Honey just happens to be one of those innocents he was always talking about. When he meets her, he can tell by the look in her eyes that she has a crush on him, so he does everything in his power to be mean to her so she'll stay away from him.

As the years past, Honey and Eric's lives go in completely different directions but when they both seem to have hit rock bottom they manage to help pull each other through...
My Book Review : 4 out of 5 stars! At first I wasn't sure what to make of this book but it really drew me in and I could get enough. I loved the relationship between Dash & Honey, just thinking about it makes me cry. Eric & Honey made a good couple too after all of the struggles they went through. It's a story about love, hope, friendship, and family. In addition, it's about what someone who had never grown up with almost any of that would do to keep the family she has together at all costs, and find out what real love is all about. Warning though at certain parts of the book I cried like a baby so you might too.

My Previous Review(s) for this Author : Ain't She Sweet | What I Did for Love | Nobody's Baby But Mine

Book Teaser(s) :
He spoke softly, still not looking at her. "You really mean it, don't you?"
"I really mean it."
He gazed at her, and even though he cleared his throat, his voice was husky with emotion. "You're the damnedest, most aggravating female I've ever met."
At first she thought it was a trick of the firelight, but then she knew it was no trick at all. Dash Coogan has tears in his eyes. ~ within Chapter 18

When I think of this book which song do I think goes with it? : Looking For Love by Johnny Lee

This book report is all Hush, Hush...

Well, yesterday I finished reading Hush, Hush, by Becca Fitzpatrick. It's the first novel in her first and latest series about immortal beings and fallen angels. I really liked the main characters Patch and Nora. Patch is of course a bad boy with a good heart [even though he doesn't want to admit to it] and Nora is a good girl who tries to do the right thing always.

I loved that the setting was in Maine since ... HELLO I'm from Maine!! ... I love when I can get another view on that area I never would have thought of. *sigh ... memories*

The only problem I had with the novel was Nora's best friend Vee ... she was just way to goddamn pushy. I just wanted to smack her ... especially 20% of Nora's problems were from Vee making up things ... she just needed to shut up sometimes. It was very annoying. =0/ But I digress.

Basically for me the book had too many twists and turns for me to either keep up with it or like it during the first to the middle half of the book .... but from the middle to the end it finally got better ... so all in all I'd give it 3.5 out of 5 stars. Definitely I plan on reading the sequel to this book called Crescendo .. when it comes out since like I said I did love the books ending [and no not just because it ended ... it was really good!! =0) ]!! Put it this way because I loved the main characters that kept me reading the book. ♥

Sookie and Bill ... will they make it?

Over the past three days I have started and finished reading "Dead Until Dark" and "Living Dead in Dallas" which are by Charlaine Harris from her Sookie Stackhouse series. For both books I think I'll give them 4 out of 5 stars.

Both books talk about Sookie's life and how she copes with her power. In "Dead Until Dark" Sookie meets Bill a vampire, who is the first one she has ever meet and decides to start living "mainstream" by moving back into the town he use to be from (when he human). Some situations take place that throw these two together and they see if they're able to make it work.

In "Living Dead in Dallas", Sookie get requested to go to Dallas with Bill, by Bill's boss, to help some vampires there. Throughout this whole book Sookie's wondering/finding out that that she knows she loves Bill but she's not sure if she's in love with him. And like always (at least from what I've seen in these first two books) Sookie tries to save/help everyone she can, no matter what the risk is to herself.

Basically I really liked both books and I can understand why everyone (like my best friend) is highly addicted to this series. Especially since I cannot wait to start on the next ones to see what happen. However, they are a little too fast paced for me. I mean they are good books ... but I think I'm just used to reading more detail in my books ... so that's why I really liked them but I didn't love them. *shrug* But I would still recommend the series to everyone else who has yet to read them. =0)

Feasted On: The Iron Fey Series, Book 2

Format: Kindle Edition | File Size: 369 KB | Release Date: July 2010 | Publisher: Harlequin Teen

"The Iron Daughter" [The Iron Fey Series, Book 2] by Julie Kagawa

My Book Summary : Meghan is at it again ... now after traveling from her home to the Winter Court (in "Winter's Passage") with Prince Ash, he seems to be no where in site leaving her to fend for herself amongst a court where everyone hates her (it seems). Including Ash himself, as she finds out while she is fending off an attack from his older brother, Rowan, Ash states that he wants nothing to do with her. With despair around her heart, she awaits for the exchange of the Scepter of the Seasons from the Seelie Court to the Unseelie Court. Once the exchange comes she finds herself in a whole lot of trouble, with the Iron fey sneaking into the Winter Court to steal in Scepter right from under their noses. However, since she was there when the thievery took place Queen Mab believes she had something to do with it and plans to go to war with the Summer Court because of it.

After this announcement from Queen Mab, Ash seems to do a 180° and tries to help Meghan escape from the Winter Court, which consequently makes him a traitor to his people. So, now they're both on the run in search of the Scepter of Seasons to get it back from the Iron fey and to return it to Queen Mab.

However, whom will help them? Will they get it in time before the war starts and the Iron fey can do more harm to Nevernever? Will Ash's feelings for Meghan return?

My Book Review : 4 out of 5 stars! ♥ Okay ... it had a slow start but I really enjoyed it in the end. All-in-all Ash threw me for a loop with everything he did in this book. And with all the new things happening to Meghan I cannot wait to see what will happen in book 3!!! Poor Puck -- that guy seems to always get the short end of the stick. =0( BTW -- I love Ethan he's soo sweet!

My Previous Review(s) for this Series : Book 1 | Novella 1

Book Teaser(s) :
"We can't worry about that now." I shook off his hand. "The scepter is more important. Besides, that's what I have you for." I smiled at him, and turned to Ironhorse. "All right, Ironhorse. We have a deal. Take us to the scepter."
"Finally." Grimalkin stood and stretched, bottlebrush tail curling over his back. "You make decisions as slowly as you answer Summonings, human. I do hope this will not become a habit."
"Wait. You're coming, too? Why?"
"I am bored." Grimalkin waved his tail languidly. "And you are always entertaining...except when I am waiting for you to arrive, of course. Besides, the lieutenant and I have business, as well." ~ within Chapter 10
