"Manipulated" [Hammered Series, Book 3] by Cari Quinn & Taryn Elliott

Author's Book Description : My name is Owen Blackwell, and I’m currently in recovery.

Not from what you think, though I do enjoy a bit of whiskey.

No, my issue is that I fell foolishly in love with my best friend. Oh, and she’s getting married.

So, in my eternal stupidity, I hooked up with a woman at our annual masquerade ball. You know what they say—the best way to get over a woman is to get under another.

Who is this woman, you ask? Calliope Templeton. She's unlike any other I’ve ever met. And believe me, as the guitarist for Hammered—only the biggest selling rock band out there right now—I’ve met quite a few.

Now I have to figure out how to convince her we’re more than just a one-night stand. She’s supposed to be my happily ever after.

And if necessary, I'm willing to show her just how resourceful one determined Irishman can be...

My Book Review : 3.5 out of 5 stars! Callie (Calliope) has been trying to bring her life together ever since her divorce about a year ago, now she lands a job that could bring her photography career into the big time. Yet will Owen, the sexy bassist from the band she’s working with, add to her newfound happiness or brake everything she has worked so hard to accomplish?

I had never read this series before, but the authors have it set into their Oblivion Series’ world, and I had read a book or two from that “world” already, so I had a feeling I would enjoy this one. And I am happy to say I did enjoy it.

Feasted On: All I Ever Wanted by Kristan Higgins

Format: Paperback | Pages: 409 | Release Date: July 2010 | Publisher: HQN Books

"All I Ever Wanted" by Kristan Higgins

My Book Summary : Calliope (Callie) has loved Mark from afar ever since she had her first kiss with him when she was 14-years-old. Since then she has tried to gain Mark’s attention with little success. But as she got older, she became successful employee at Mark’s advertising agency, she has dated him (even though now he’s calling it a fling), he has broken up with her, and yet ... she still cannot get over him. So, being the people-pleaser she is, Callie tries to win him back over by being patient and doing little things. However, on her thirtieth birthday Mark makes her knees weak with his hotness, gives her a cute gift, and tells her ... his girlfriend (Muriel) is going to be an employee at his agency.

Callie is devastated! She leaves the office as quickly as she can to renew her driver’s license at the DMV and to just get away fast before she breaks down in front of him, only to have to deal with an rude customer at the DMV, and to talk to an unsympathetic sister on the phone.

Her best friend tells her it’s time to find someone new and gets her involved with online dating. She also, finds out that there is a new veterinarian in town, so she takes her dog into see him (planning to flirt and hopefully win him over) only to find that he just happens to be the rude customer from the DMV! She also finds out that his name is Ian and he has some personal issues of his own to deal with. Plus, it just so happens to feel like he is now everywhere she turns, and he always seems to catch her in some precarious situations. However, after one meeting with her niece’s Brownie troop visiting his clinic, they talk about her doing a little PR work for him to improve his image with the community -- much to Callie’s delight, as she loves her job!

As they work together, things start heating up between them, but Ian is adamant that he isn’t looking for a relationship -- so for a while they are just friends. Meanwhile, things at work are getting worse. Muriel is taking over -- so it seems -- and making Callie do twice the amount of work, by working on campaigns that was originally fine and having her start over with them.

Then just when things are looking up for Callie, Mark throws another wrench into the situation -- what will she do? Will she ever be able to move into a stable relationship with someone other than Mark (maybe with Ian) or will she forever want someone she cannot have?

My Book Review : 4.5 out of 5 stars!!! Okay this is about a girl who just wants to find that special someone and fall happily-ever-after. And even though she has been through some hard times, she has never lost her hope. Especially not with her happily-ever-after chair that she got when she was 8-years-old, but she saves that chair for special occasions only. Callie has an eclectic family, good friends (most of them anyway), and has a great dog. Ian has had some hard times growing up, a tough childhood, and even more issues currently. He keeps to himself but Callie is determined to open him up a bit.

What can I say I LOVED the dogs, Ian's and Callie's, the author always has some type of pet for her main characters and she hit the nail-on-the-head with these two. Plus .. Callie's grandfather, Noah, was adorable! I loved the banter between Callie and him! And last but not least ... I just have to say that Muriel and Fleur are both bitches -- I am SOOOO HAPPY with what happens to them!!

Book Teaser(s) :
Around ten, there was a ruckus in the hallway. "Give me ten minutes, Damien!" Mark snapped. Uh-oh. He rarely lost his cool in the office. Trouble in paradise? Betty Boop perked up.
Mark strode right into my office, which seemed to shrink instantly.
"Hey, Mark," I said, giving him a big smile.
He didn't smile back. Instead, he closed the door and put his hands on his hips. "What's this I hear about you doing some freelance work for some vet?" ~ within Chapter 11

Raised a bad girl, with the heart of a good girl

"Stealing Heaven" by Elizabeth Scott is a great book! It's about Dani who is 18 yrs old and has been a thief all of her life. It's basically the "family business," since her earliest memory is of her with her parents braking into a home when she was about 3 or 4 yrs old. The book starts off with things going good from a heist with her mom .... and they make plans on there next location. Once they get there, Dani finds that being invisible, like she normally tries to be, isn't as easy. Especially when locals are trying to befriend you. Soon she comes to a dilemma does she still want to live the life she's always known or live the life she's always wanted?!

This is my second favorite book so far of Elizabeth Scott's novels. To find out more about this book or others by checking out her Amazon Page.

"Fake" [West Hollywood Series, Book 1] by Kylie Scott

Author's Book Description : The newest romance from New York Times bestselling, Audie Award winning author Kylie Scott!

He walks the red carpet. She’s more familiar with vacuuming one.

When a scandal tarnishes the reputation of hot as hell A-lister, Patrick Walsh, he needs a reputation rescue, pronto.

Enter waitress Norah Peers–a nobody who’s average with a capital A. She’s available, dependable, and has sworn off men for the rest of her natural born life. In other words: the perfect match for a no-strings fake romance.

For the right amount of money, she can avoid waitressing and play the part of his dependable down-to-earth girlfriend. What she can’t avoid–dammit–is the growing steam between them.

But being hounded by the paparazzi and having her life dissected on social media is a panic attack in the making. And while Patrick might be a charming rogue on screen, in real life he’s a six-foot-two confusing, gorgeous, brooding grump, who keeps her at a distance . . . but also makes her feel like this bond between them might be more than just an act.

Being dumped on cue should be no big deal. Except being fake with Patrick is the realist relationship Norah has ever had. What’s a girl to do, but flip the script, and ask for a re-match made in Hollywood?

“Fake kept me up late reading because I could not put this story down. I adored Patrick and Norah, the fun, the banter … all the sweetness. Not to mention the heat! Kylie Scott delivers again!" – Carly Phillips, New York Times bestselling author

“Kylie Scott has been one of my favorite authors for years. Her way with words, and her ability to make me fall in love with men I know I shouldn’t but do, anyways has always been the recipe for the perfect read for me. I absolutely loved Fake, and it was easy with brooding alpha Patrick and quirky lovable Norah. The two of them together are a match made in book heaven. I couldn’t put this book down once I started and know everyone will feel the same.” – Aurora Rose Reynolds, New York Times bestselling author

“Kylie Scott proves once again why she is one of my auto-buy authors. Fake is an absolute delight . . . for every woman who wished her celebrity crush would fall madly in love with her. Fake is romance gold from one of the genre’s best!” – Naima Simone, USA Today bestselling author

"Grumpy, megastar hero whose rare smiles bring out all the warm and fuzzies, and the upbeat, every girl heroine he never saw coming." – Ally Blake

"Hanna And The Hot Hockey Gods" by Dizzy Hooper

Author's Book Description : Three bad boy hockey players. One figure skater in need of some stress relief. Let the games begin…

As a last minute addition to the figure skating team, I knew I was in for some hazing, but this is ridiculous. I walk in on my roommate doing the deed on my bed.

With nowhere to go, I end up wandering the halls, only to run into three super hot members of the men's ice hockey team. There's the team captain, Zeke, who gives me the chills. Sensitive Aaron. And filthy-mouthed, uber-competitive Brent.

These bad boy forwards have a reputation—and a goal. They want a girl to celebrate their win with.

Who am I to say no?

It's just a night of no-strings fun. They bring my body to heights I never knew were possible, and I'm pretty sure I rock their world.

Turns out, hockey players are a superstitious bunch. If they win again, they want me back.

Before I know it, we're celebrating together after every game. I'm not sure if it's the stress relief or the new confidence they've given me, but I'm skating better than I ever have before. We all have gold in our sights.

But the games are coming to a close. There's no future for an underdog figure skater and three hot hockey gods out there in the real world.

Or is there…?

"Hanna And The Hot Hockey Gods" is a complete, STANDALONE reverse harem romance, featuring dirty talking alpha males and a guaranteed HEA. No cheating, no cliffhangers!

My Book Review : 4.5 out of 5 stars! Hanna recently got added to as a last-minute spot on the US women’s figure skating team for something like the Olympics, and it seems everyone really doesn’t want her there. Yet after an unusual exchange with her roommate Hanna meets three hockey players that just might change her life, or at least this week-long event, for good ... if only she’s willing to make the best of it all ...

If you are looking for HOT ultra-smutty (sometimes gangbang style) read that also has a LOT OF HEART too, then this is the novel is the perfect pick for you!

Made the Grade: Lady Be Good by Susan Elizabeth Phillips

Format: Hardcover | Pages: 465 | Release Date: February 1999 | Publisher: Avon Books

"Lady Be Good" by Susan Elizabeth Phillips

My Book Summary : Kenny is going through some bad luck recently ... first his manager gets caught using his money in illegal drug dealings, because of what his manager did the PGA commissioner (Dallie Beaudine - who's also a friend) tells him that he will be suspended from the golf tour (including the Masters) for two weeks (hoping he'll straighten out his life), then he gets into a fist fight with a news anchor -- and even though the news anchor threw the first punch -- Kenny takes the blame, and now for the next two weeks during his suspension Kenny needs to cater to Lady Emma Wells-Finch (a friend of Dallie's wife Francesca from England) while she's visiting Texas. What could go wrong??

Well, just about anything and everything for Kenny ... especially when Emma tells him that during her time in Texas she needs (and wants) to do her best in ruining her reputation, just when he's trying his best to clean his own reputation up. Will Kenny be able to control this new little (wannabe) hell raiser before he loses everything?? Or will he be a victim of her charm and get more than he bargained for?

My Book Review : 3 out of 5 stars! I loved "Fancy Pants" -- I was so excited to read this story ("Lady Be Good") since it takes the main characters from "Fancy Pants" and made them secondary characters in this one ..... and when it's done right just makes it all the better! Lady Emma and Kenny have a good relationship and I love reading the chemistry between them. However, I think the end was a little rushed for me. But I did like how their final argument played out!! If you are a fan of Susan Elizabeth Phillips' books (and have read "Fancy Pants") then I highly recommend reading this one! Especially with "Call Me Irresistible" coming out in early 2011, which is about Ted's love life (who's the child from the main characters of "Fancy Pants" and play a secondary role in this book too).

My Previous Review(s) for this Author : Ain't She Sweet | What I Did for Love | Nobody's Baby But Mine | Honey Moon | Dream a Little Dream

Book Teaser(s) :
"Don't you ever do anything like that again!"
She had to launch a counterattack, but she was too depleted to muster the right words. He pushed her inside the car and was still steaming as he got in himself.
"We almost did it! Right there in the middle of the busiest street in Wynette, Texas!" The Caddy shot out of its parking space. "Another few seconds, your skirt would have been up around waist and my pants would have been unzipped, and don't you try to deny it. Damn it Emma! I told you yesterday that I wasn't going to let anything keep me from getting back on the tour, but apparently you weren't listening. Or maybe you forgot that this happens to be the commissioner's hometown and everybody knows him." ~ within Chapter 11

Made the Grade: A Match Made in High School by Kristin Walker

Format: Paperback | Pages: 278 | Release Date: February 2010 | Publisher: Razorbill

"A Match Made in High School" by Kristin Walker

My Book Summary : In a everyday high school things for Fiona just went from thinking she was going to have a great first day of her senior year to the worst day she could ever have expected .... and all before first period. You see her high school just implemented a new course graduation requirement called "Trying the Knot", meaning all of the senior class is going to be randomly paired up with each other ... and now they have to manage a monthly budget, go to counseling, and more ... if not they won't graduate! For one brief second Fiona thought this would be wonderful ... she could be paired up with long-time crush! But that thought was quickly put out when she found she was "getting married" to Todd, who just happens to be a popular jock and is dating her biggest enemy!

But along with dealing with this "marriage", she manages to pull a couple of hilarious pranks, finds out that her best friend is keeping things from her, finds that their might be more to the people she's spent years thinking badly of, and maybe she'll find out that someone really does care about her too ....

My Book Review : 3 out of 5 stars, only because I mean I liked the book and the ending, but I really was hoping for something like that "She's All That" movie. *shrug* But for what it's worth this book was based more towards what would really have happened (possibly) in a high school situation. I really liked the characters! Fiona was a strong character, and throughout the book she stay true to herself, which I really respected. Todd had more of a personality then I expected, and I enjoyed the back-and-forth between Fiona and him. All in all I would recommend it to those who like practical teen romance stories. =0)

Book Teaser(s) :
"Why should I?" I asked, totally milking my pouty state.
"Because, Princess," he said. "Because I'm asking you to."
And that was it. Here was Senor Shitslacks, the No-necked Neanderthal, standing in front of me asking me for a favor on no greater basis than the fact that we were united in a fake marriage.

Feasted On: Just One Wish by Janette Rallison

Format: Kindle Edition | File Size: 342 KB | Release Date: March 2009 | Publisher: Putnam Juvenile Books

"Just One Wish" by Janette Rallison

My Book Summary : The ultimate fantasy ... you meet a movie/TV star and they fall in love with you right away ... that's what happens in this sweet, funny, and touching story.

Annika would do just about anything for her little brother Jeremy, more so now then ever since her family found out that he has cancer. Nothing is off limits to make him happy. So, when she rushes to Toys "R" Us with her best friend Madison during the day after Thanksgiving sale for a Teen Robin Hood action figure for Jeremy, since it's all he seems to talk about as of late, she thinks no problem. Even when it comes down to dealing with a wormy older guy who just happens to be hording all of the Robin Hood figurines, no big deal.

But when she makes up this story for Jeremy that she received three wishes from a genie a while back, she has two wishes left, and she would like to give those two wishes to him ... things don't go as planned. She told him that one of the wishes would be for him to come out of his upcoming surgery with flying colors and the other one could be for anything he wanted. Well she assumed he would ask for that specific figurine but instead Jeremy wishes to have Robin Hood meet him and teach him more about archery! Thankfully when Annika told Jeremy that some wishes take a while to fulfill he believed her. Now the problem is how in the world is she going to get Steve Raleigh, the actor who portrays Teen Robin Hood, to come and visit Jeremy before his surgery in a week?

And she'll stop at nothing to make this happen ...

My Book Review : 4.5 out of 5 stars!! This was a great book!!! I loved it! The characters were portrayed wonderfully! I loved the banter between Steve and Annika! And Oh My God the stuff she could come up with at the drop of a hat! My only wish was that it was longer!!

Book Teaser(s) :
I bent down to have a one-on-one with Herman.
"Look, just be a good snake for the day and then we'll take you back to the pet store, okay?" I took the lid off and tried to remember how the lady at the pet store had picked him up. Was it headfirst or by the middle? I reached in and lifted him out of the cage. He at once wrapped himself around my arm, which I hoped was not a sign he was trying to eat me. ~ within Chapter 6
