"Darkfever" [Fever Series, Book 1] by Karen Marie Moning -- MacKayla (Mac) likes her small town life in Georgia. The only thing missing from her days of either work or lying by the pool in her parents’ backyard is waiting for her older sister to return from her year abroad studying at Trinity College in Dublin. Yet, everything changes when Mac gets a call saying that her sister is dead, and after three weeks of waiting on the Dublin police to find some answers ... her family is told that her sister's case is being moved to the unsolved department. With that news, Mac decides to fly to Dublin to start the search herself. Once Mac arrives everything isn't what it seems in more ways then one. As she finds out that her sister hasn't been as open about what she's been up to as Mac believed, hot man that she sees in bars suddenly look like anything but human, and she's beginning to believe their might more to herself and her past then she knows. While Mac is getting deeper into her sister's secrets and the mystery of her death, she gets help from Jericho, a man who tells her little about himself and she isn't sure if she can fully trust, and is followed by V'lane, a Fae prince who makes sex an addiction for woman. Soon, Mac realizes that maybe the only way to find out who murdered her sister is to find the mysterious Sinsar Dubh, a powerful dark Fae book that her sister was in the process of searching for...

3 out of 5 stars. The story is written in a journal aspect, like Mac went through this journey and then is writing it all down afterwards so it'll be documented, you know this since there is a lot of foretelling in how the details are written. I'm not sure if I completely like that or not, since it's like you get into a scene and then the foretelling stops you from being completely there. Other then that, I think it's a great book. Action Packed! I can't wait to read the next in the series!

The purpose of life is a life of purpose.

"A Heart Divided" by Cherie Bennett & Jeff Gottesfeld -- Is the Confederate battle flag a racist symbol—or a proud reminder of Southern heritage?

When Kate’s liberal-minded family moves from the suburbs of New York City to a small town near Nashville, Kate is convinced her life is over. Redford lives up to Kate’s low expectations. The Confederate battle flag waves proudly in the sky, the local diner serves grits and sweet tea, and country music rules the airwaves. Then she meets Jackson Redford III, scion of the town and embodiment of everything Dixie. And dang if brilliant, gorgeous Jack doesn’t make Kate decide that maybe her new hometown isn’t so bad after all. But a petition to replace the school’s Confederate flag symbol is stirring up trouble. Kate dives right in, not afraid to attack what she sees as offensive. Getting involved means making enemies, though, and soon, Kate and Jack—and their families—find themselves pitted against each other in a bitter controversy: not just about the flag, but about what it means to be an American.
[Taken from their website since it explained it a lot better then I could.]

4 out of 5 stars! When I started this book, I will admit I had Kate's (the main character) original point-of-view, being that when I looked at anyone who would fly, have stickers and/or have paintings of the confederate flag ... I was amazed someone would still have them up since when I see it I immediately think of racism. You see I grew up in southern Maine and even though I might not have known much about history (since I was never was able to pay attention in history classes growing up), but I did know the basics ... the big things ... and I have plenty of different types of friends from either my high school, college years, or just as I got older that I feel I treat everyone the same as I would everyone else. Therefore, after I was married and moved to North Carolina it was something to get used to, to see all of the different people who have representations of the flag on so many things around them (an example would be the picture to the left of this paragraph - taken in Hertford, NC). However, I still didn't completely get it. Now, even though I still think the same way that I did before reading this book (i.e. the confederate flag = racism), yet I feel I now have a better understanding as to why someone might still love the confederate flag, even if I don't agree with them.

It's a compelling story about believing your values. The way you read it at first, I didn't like it until I understood that it was kind of written to have a bird's eye view of everything to make the ending that much better. And it is!! I cried, laughed, and learned more then I expected to out of this book. I highly recommend it ... especially to those northerners, like me, who still don't get it, or at least I didn't before I read this book.

Rock me gently, Rock me slowly, Take it easy, Don't you know ...

"Juliet, Naked" by Nick Hornby is a sweet and funny novel about friendship, loneliness, love (in all forms), and coming to terms with ones past. It's about a woman named Annie who has spent the past 15 yrs being involved with Duncan, a man who is so in awe of a singer named Tucker Crowe that Duncan has collected anything he could get about Tucker and has created a website dedicated about him, and after 15 yrs Annie has had enough. So, when Duncan breaks up with her she doesn’t have too hard of feelings for him, and then there is also the email correspondence that has just started up between her and Tucker Crowe after he read a review that she wrote about his latest CD (titled: Juliet, Naked).

It’s also about a man named Tucker Crowe who used to be a singer/songwriter until one day in 1986 he gave it all up, since then he has been ‘in hiding’, per what his fans say, and is still dealing with his past.

The email correspondence between them starts a friendship, of sorts, that is also like their own version of counseling each other. When Tucker is summoned to England to see a child of his, whom he doesn’t know that well, Annie and Tucker plan to meet and then life hits them ...

4 out of 5 stars. I liked this book ... very funny ... however, I wish the ending was written better. =0/

Heart don't fail me now, Courage don't desert me, Don't turn back now that we're here

I have fell in love with a new book and series called: "The Iron King" by Julie Kagawa .... Meghan has always felt like she doesn't quite fit in with her surroundings, but with her best friend by her side she has made it through. Till the day of her sixteenth birthday strange things start happening around her and she has a feeling that someone is stalking her ... and everything that she has known beginnings to change ... Yet she never would have guessed the truth .... she is half-fey half-human and her father is a powerful faery king. Now everyone keeps saying she has these great powers and because of this she is caught in the middle of a war that is beginning to brew. And the main question is ... How far will she go to fight for ones she loves?

4.5 out of 5 stars! It's a fast paced, imaginatively written, and a page-turner from beginning to end! I cannot wait for the "The Iron Daughter" [Yet to be Released]!!! *sigh* The characters were AWESOME!! The story is a little mix of "Peter Pan" [the faery aspect], "Alice in Wonderland", and "Cinderella" ... love it I do!

You told me that you'd wait forever, Oh and when you held my hand, I knew that it was now or never

There wasn't enough shuffle in the "Kansas City Shuffle" by Talya Bosco ... since at the beginning of the book it says, "Kansas City Shuffle: When everyone thinks one thing is happening, when in reality something entirely different is going on." ... Well that's a crock! Since what you think happens in this book does happen ... plus its so washed out with what the author wanted of romance that it kills the scenes a bit. =0P I give it 2.5 out of 5 stars. Maybe some of her other books are better. =0/

Spring is here, The sky is blue ... Birds all sing as if they knew

Can two people who agreeably loath each other have a happy marriage .. to each other? "With This Ring, I Thee Dread" by Ruth Ann Nordin challenges that question. 'Ryan Jackson and Elizabeth Valentine can't stand each other. Unfortunately for them, their parents get along great and decide to play matchmaker in a very unusual way. In order to keep their jobs, they will have to get married and spend four months in a remote Alaskan cabin. They accept the terms but are determined that their parents' ruse will never work.

And it all goes according to plan...until Ryan decides he wants to stay in the marriage. Then all bets are off.' [Taken from Ruth's website since it explained it a lot better then I could.]

2.5 out of 5 stars. It's funny I thought that the previous book that I read was a little to rushed but this one was just a little too slow paced. =0P I like Ryan and Elizabeth as characters ... but as the story builds and levels off in the middle ... it kinda just doesn't go anywhere for a couple of chapters and gets boring .... then it rushes in the end. So, that just ruined the book for me. =0/

Maybe you like it better though .. you never know. *shrug* For more information on this book or any of Ruth's other books, then please check out her website.

So come on baby, get in ... Get in, just get in ... Look at the trouble we're in

"Crossroads" [Southern Arcana, Book 2] by Moira Rogers is about two people still learning about themselves and what they want from their lives. Derek has only been a Shapeshifter (Wolf) for two years and is still learning how to control his instincts along with the supernatural world around him. However, the one thing he still hasn't been able to control is the way he feels about Nicole, those feelings have just seem to intensify throughout the two years since he's changed. Nicole has grown up as a Shapeshifter (Wolf) but for years she has been trying to escape her life as the high ranking Alpha's daughter by owning/running her bar in New Orleans. She has a thing for Derek, and plans on changing their current relationship and heating things up a bit.

The only problem is on the night that they both decide to start something, trouble comes for Nicole's family, as her sister shows up asking for help. Now while trying to get to know each other, and helping her sister, Nicole will have to dive back into the politics of her father's life that she has tried so hard to stay out of.

3 out of 5 stars. Good read ... lots of action ... I liked the characters. But still kind of too rushed. =0/

Your arms are my castle, your heart is my sky.

"Colters' Woman" by Maya Banks is about what you'll do for the one who completes you. Holly is running from her life that is suddenly falling apart .... and right into the arms of the Colter Brothers. However, after one glance the brothers know they don't want to let go ..... will Holly feel the same? And if so .. will she allow them to help her make it through the troubles that are after her?

4 out of 5 stars. I like how the Maya made this book into something more then just a quick romp type of book .... you get to see the caring and compassion that each of the brothers and Holly feel for each other.
